00:00Most babies are already using screens.
00:02That's according to a study from University College London.
00:06Here's what they found.
00:07Almost 3 out of 4 babies, just 9 months old, get screen time every single day.
00:13And some, they're watching for over 3 hours a day.
00:16Experts say too much screen time at that age can be linked to language delays,
00:21less social interaction, and shorter attention spans.
00:24One interesting fact is that screen time actually drops when babies have siblings or live in two-parent households.
00:31The WHO recommends no screen time under 2 years old, from 2 to 4, 1 hour a day maximum.
00:38But here's the reality.
00:40Globally, only 1 in 4 children under 2 actually meet that recommendation.
00:44The UK research concluded it's not just the amount of screen time, but how and why screens are used.
00:50They recommend interactive shared screen use and ensuring screens do not replace key development activities like talking, reading, and playing.
