00:00Does a video show Israeli soldiers pushing bodies from a rooftop?
00:07This video, widely shared on social media, appears to show Israeli soldiers handling a body on a rooftop.
00:14Several online posts have claimed it shows Israeli Defense Forces soldiers torturing and throwing a Palestinian child from a building.
00:22The clip gained further attention after South Korean President Lee Jae-yong shared it on X before later clarifying that
00:29it dates back to September 2024 and stressing the importance of upholding international humanitarian law.
00:35The footage was filmed on the 19th of September 2024 in Kabatia, a town in the north of the West
00:41Bank.
00:42Back then, the Israeli military said that during a large-scale operation, seven individuals described as terrorists were killed in
00:49a shootout and airstrikes.
00:51It's said one of those killed was Shadi Zakarne, described as responsible for directing and carrying out attacks in the
00:58northern West Bank.
00:59According to BBC reporting, a journalist on the ground in Kabatia said Israeli troops surrounded a building and four men
01:06who fled the roof were shot by snipers.
01:09He said that once the fighting had ended, soldiers dropped the bodies from the roof before they were loaded onto
01:15a bulldozer.
01:15At the time, then U.S. National Security Spokesperson John Kirby called the footage deeply disturbing, saying Washington had sought
01:24urgent clarification and was told an investigation would be conducted.
01:28We contacted the IDF for an update on the investigation.
01:31A spokesperson said the bodies were lowered from a rooftop during an unusual incident so they could be identified and
01:38troops could be kept safe.
01:40They added that once the IDF had reviewed the case, they concluded that the way they handled the bodies did
01:46not align with their values and that lessons were learned, including the need for alternative procedures and a high-level
01:52authorization.
01:53They declined to comment further.
