00:00I'm a fireball.
00:09Scientists say a fireball seen across much of Europe, including Kent, was actually a
00:15meteor.
00:16This footage captures the moment it travelled across the sky before plunging into the North
00:21Sea.
00:22Early this morning you might have noticed a shooting star making its way across Europe,
00:26putting on a truly space-tacular show, even visible from here in Kent.
00:31The meteor was visible at around 12.25am on Monday, meaning many people may have missed
00:37it.
00:38I headed out to ask Kent locals if they managed to catch a glimpse.
00:41No, I missed it.
00:43My boy wants to be an astrophysicist when he's older so he would have loved to have seen it
00:47as well.
00:48I actually didn't have, I had no idea there was a meteor to be honest.
00:51I didn't see it, didn't hear it or anything.
00:53No, I was not aware actually of the event and what had happened, but it is incredible
00:59that something of this scale and something so big and eventful happened in the local town
01:06that I live in.
01:07Charlotte Bays, secretary of the UK Fireball Alliance, said the meteor had actually been
01:13spotted across Northern Europe, but finding any material from it was unlikely.
01:17A meteor is a bright streak of light you see when a small piece of space rock enters the
01:23Earth's atmosphere and starts to burn up, often called a shooting star.
01:28And speaking of, we also asked people what they'd wish for if they saw one.
01:32I want to say world peace, but I collect Pokemon cards, so I would say a decent supply of Pokemon
01:39in shops would be what I'd wish for.
01:41I'd wish for Mill to get promoted to the Premier League, that's all I want, I'll
01:45die a happy man if that happens.
01:47Maybe just success and for everything to go well in life.
01:52So whether you're a spaced enthusiast or not, there's something pretty amazing about seeing
01:56something that's travelled from beyond our world.
