A young athlete has bagged Taiwan's first ever medal at the Asian Skateboarding Championships in China. Yeh Tzu-yang finished second in the junior category, taking home silver.

00:05Ye finished second in the junior category at the Asian Skateboarding Championships in Sichuan, China over the weekend,
00:12scoring just a bit over 128 points in the street final.
00:16He became Taiwan's first-ever athlete to reach the podium at the event
00:20and secured the country's first-ever skateboarding medal at a recognized championship.
00:26For a year, competing against top athletes was no easy feat.
00:30But he kept his cool and landed his run.
00:43And of course, his hard work paid off.
00:48The medal is nice, but right now, he's got his eyes on another prize.
00:56Ye first started skateboarding at the age of five,
00:58under the encouragement of his father, Ye Ziyun.
01:09Ye wasn't the only Taiwanese athlete at the championship.
01:12Others also delivered strong performance, like Zhang Lele.
01:16But with limited resources in Taiwan,
01:19there's still a long road ahead for these athletes to truly shine on the world stage.
01:34But this didn't stop yet.
01:36The kid has now become a figure of pride for Taiwan,
01:39and a reminder of the need for proper training support
01:42to help develop the sport's future talent.
