00:00When did you see all the 32 jerseys?
00:03Yeah, yeah.
00:06I thought we had Steph on my toe taking warm-ups there.
00:09That was, yeah, it was cool.
00:12It was, you know, special from, you know, those guys.
00:16What were the emotions of the night like for you?
00:18What did it feel like?
00:19Did it start feeling like a regular game at any point,
00:22or were you kind of conscious of it the whole time?
00:25It's, you know, it's in the back of your head throughout it.
00:30You know, but you're just trying to just enjoy it.
00:35You know, this team played great.
00:38You know, I wish I had a couple more saves for them.
00:39Unfortunately, I would have finished up.
00:41But, you know, they deserved the win.
00:45You know, I didn't have as many as I'd like to tonight,
00:48but it was still special, you know, see the way these guys played.
00:53And, you know, it's just, you know, it's an honor to, you know,
00:58play my last game with this group here.
01:00Was this a day where memory started to float back,
01:03or is it too early for that yet?
01:06Well, yeah, there were some memories throughout the day.
01:09You know, obviously, with the morning skate, saying what I said,
01:14you know, I had some texts coming in throughout the day.
01:16And, you know, it was, yeah, it takes you down memory lane a little bit.
01:21You know, some of the things, you know, some former teammates are saying to me.
01:27But, you know, obviously all good things, special, very fortunate, you know,
01:32play as long as I did and with the people I did.
01:35You know, some, you know, just great people, great teammates, great families.
01:40You know, very fortunate for the relationships I was able to make throughout my career.
01:44From UMass to now, could you have imagined it would have gone this way?
01:49I mean, it's, yeah, impossible to imagine that.
01:52It's kind of coming up, I'm just, you know,
01:56you're just trying to work your way to the next level.
01:59You know, in college, you're just trying to play pro, you know.
02:02And then when I was in the coast, I was just trying to play in the American League.
02:06And when I was there, I was just trying to work my way to the National League.
02:09And, you know, and then spent the last, you know, 18, 19 years trying to stay in this league.
02:15So, you know, very grateful for a lot of people.
02:20Too many to name right now.
02:22You know, very grateful for the memories and the moments and, you know, just everything.
02:30It looked like you shared a moment there with Bobrovsky at the end.
02:34Yeah, yeah.
02:34I mean, he's a guy who's, you know, been at it a long time and has had an unbelievable career.
02:41And, you know, we, you know, had some good battles over the years.
02:46And it's, you know, obviously, you know, great to catch up with him and, you know, share some words with
02:54him.
02:55It looked like, were you not expecting that?
02:56You had gone back to the room and they kind of called you back out?
02:59Well, with the loss, you just, you know, natural reaction is to walk in the locker room.
03:02I, you know, obviously kind of, it slipped my mind a little bit that, you know, they were going to
03:11do that.
03:11But, you know, the guys came in and reminded me to get out there.
03:18But, yeah, no, it's overall, you know, I wish we were able to, you know, find a way to get
03:24a win.
03:24But it's still special going out with these guys that I was able to play with there tonight.
03:28Is there anything about the game day routine that you enjoyed the most or a moment today where you felt
03:33like you were able to kind of soak it in and enjoy it maybe more than usual?
03:42No, I mean, you're trying to just kind of stick to your routine throughout the day.
03:49You know, it seemed pretty much very similar routine that I've had for forever.
03:54So you're just trying to go about that and try to treat it like another game that, you know, you've
03:57done time and time again.
04:00But, you know, that was the, you know, you get stuff that creeps into your mind a little bit.
04:06And it's good, right?
04:07It takes you down through some of the memories that you might not have thought of, you know, in a
04:12while.
04:12And, you know, just obviously at the end of the day, just there's a lot of gratitude towards, you know,
04:19everyone that, you know,
04:21I've been fortunate enough to come cross paths with in this game.
04:24We wanted to get the win for him, obviously.
04:27And it's unfortunate with some of the chances that we have that we couldn't get that goal.
04:36And at that last game, be a win for him, you know, it's definitely the motivation that was in the
04:46locker room for us to make sure that he got to go to finish like that.
04:51But, yeah, it stinks.
04:54What did you take away from your time with him?
04:57And, you know, what did you appreciate about him as a teammate?
05:03All the success he's had, everything that he's been able to do in this league and still be so, so
05:10humble.
05:11Such a, obviously, an unbelievable goal.
05:14You see all the stats and all the numbers and everything that he's accomplished, obviously.
05:18But the way he is as a person, yeah, it's amazing.
05:26And, you know, his family, too, how welcome they are and how just great people, honestly.
05:37And it's been such an honor to play alongside of him and get to see how he works, how he
05:44plays, and how he's off the ice.
05:46And always a good time when you get to talk to him and spend time with him.
05:54And it's, he's going to be missed, not just from us, but I think the game itself and everyone around.
06:02So, obviously, an unbelievable career.
06:08And about the person that he is, and, like I said, his family has been great, great to everyone, honestly.
06:18You ask everyone around the team how they treat you and how they welcome you.
06:21They're the role models out there as well.
06:27Just what can you say about the impact that he's had on this locker room in his three years here?
06:34That's a loaded question.
06:36I mean, a guy like him, he's like, he's as good a teammate as you can find.
06:43I've been thinking about it for a little bit now.
06:48After finding out that this was going to be his last year, it's like things that I could say, you
06:52know.
06:53And there's an infinite amount of positive things you can say about him.
06:59But when you have a career as long as his, you come across hundreds of different teammates.
07:04And before being lucky enough to play with him a few years ago, like you talk to guys that he
07:10plays with or played with,
07:11and every single one of them says the same thing.
07:14He's the best teammate, unbelievable guy.
07:17He's always trying to set things up to bring the guys together.
07:20And he is the definition of a glue guy.
07:23I mean, he is a Hall of Famer, three cups.
07:32He brought, I mean, he was the starter in L.A. for 17 years.
07:37And he comes here, and he's the backup to Shesty, and it doesn't change a thing.
07:42Like, he's still the greatest guy.
07:43He's so excited to be at the rink.
07:46And the guys are excited to come to the rink and be with him, you know.
07:49So you can't say enough good things about him, and he's the kind of guy that you need on a
07:54team in order to have success.
07:57You know, I thought Quickie played well for us.
08:01Obviously, tonight was about a celebration for him, as we talked about after the game.
08:06And, you know, that he's an inspiration to all of us, just in his example and how he carries himself
08:13in a lot of ways.
08:14He personifies what we hope to become as a group.
08:17His work ethic, his attention to detail, just an incredible attitude.
08:23His professionalism is second to none.
08:27And so, you know, we congratulate him on a great career.
08:29He's a terrific guy, and certainly we're all better that we've had the opportunity to work with him.
