00:00When you're talking to Darrell, does he think that it's sustainable for Lenny to stay on this
00:05straight and narrow path? And when you talk to Lenny, does he feel as though he can stay on the
00:10right path? Well, I can tell you that Lenny is hopeful and Lenny is committed to wanting to do
00:15the right thing. Look, he's lost a lot in his life. I think he recognizes now that he was the
00:19cause of a lot of that pain, a lot of those estrangements in his family, among his friends,
00:24among former teammates. So look, it's important for him to stay in his recovery and to
00:29do that. Darrell obviously is a guy who can tell you chapter and verse that you can think you have
00:34things together and relapse is always one bad choice away. Now, it's been a while for Darrell.
00:39And I think he also understands that a lot of people who care about him or just interested in him,
00:43you know, always kind of look at him warily. Will he relapse again? And he understands that that's
00:48part of an addict's daily struggle. And look, there's 111 days between now and August 1st,
00:54which is the goal both men have. They want Lenny on the field when the 40th anniversary of the Mets
00:58are celebrated at Citi Field. They also know that means it's 111 days that can get in the way because
01:04we all know what the addict's famous mantra is, which is one day at a time. And, you know, you
01:10want
01:10to start every day with the hope that you can get to the end of the day sober. And look,
01:15that's been a
01:15struggle for both those men in their lives. So they understand there's no guarantees and you have to
01:19stay committed to your program and you have to stay committed to wanting to be well. I mean, talking to
01:24Lenny, he sounds like a different man. And I know that doesn't offer proof of anything,
01:28but it certainly is a step in the right direction audibly. I mean, he sounds like a regular 62,
01:3363 romance and sound and not the guy we saw in those videos a couple of years ago. In the
01:38same
01:38way with Daryl. Daryl's a lot different guy now than he was even 10, 20, 30 years ago. Very committed
01:44to doing things in this kind of, you know, chapter two of his life. And certainly Lenny Dykstra has been
01:49a
01:49beneficiary of that new role that Daryl sees for himself.
