Police have opened an investigation into the escape of a Pakistani remand detainee from Sungai Buloh Prison last week to determine whether there was any breaches of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the case is being investigated under Sections 223 and 224 of the Penal Code, with authorities currently examining whether there was any negligence or weaknesses before any action is taken.

00:31recorded from personnel, including officers from the prisons department, as well as detainees who
00:37witnessed the incident. No arrests have been made so far, although some individuals have been relieved
00:43of their duties. Police believe the suspect, 24-year-old Muhammad Hassan, is still in the
00:49Sungai Bulo area. Efforts to track him down have now entered the fifth day, with support from
00:55multiple agencies. Shazali said authorities also believe the detainee has not yet established
01:01communication with any associates. In a separate development, police confirmed that security
01:07checks at all entry points into the country have been tightened to prevent the suspect from
01:13fleeing abroad.
