00:43He wanted to get in there, but nonetheless, he ends up getting passed by Cole Davies.

00:48We saw a good Drew Adams was riding earlier in that heat race.
00:52Nate Thrasher as well.
00:54See what these guys can do with an open track league.
00:56How about the Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna of Daxton Benick, the 58, right there.
01:01Last week in St. Louis, in the East-West Showdown, he had to go by in the last chance qualifier.
01:06He won that, then finished sixth, and elevated himself to third in the championship.
01:10This guy's having a stellar season, and he's keeping a watchful eye on Drew Adams.
01:15Well, you see him looking over his shoulder.
01:17And the reason that he's looking over his shoulder is he's protecting the inside,
01:21riding a little defensive to make sure the 35 of Drew Adams doesn't come up and try to make a
01:25pass.
01:26Up the inside, great pass by Cole Davies.
01:30Look at Seth Hammocker trying to do the same thing.
01:33You just have to assume, Jet, that he does not want the 37 to get away, and he's got to
01:38make every move that Cole does.
01:40Yeah, I think what you're going to see here is the typical thing of, Cole's going to make a move,
01:45Seth's going to make a move.
01:46Cole's going to make another move, Seth's going to make another move.
01:49And it's just going to be, they're going to be going through the pack right now until they get to
01:52the front.
01:53And once you get to the front, I think that it's going to be trying to go as hard as
01:57they can to get around each other.
01:58So I think we've got a great race on our hands right now, and I'm excited for it.
02:03Boy, in this spot, if you have somebody a little bit faster than you, which normally doesn't happen in your

02:08if you're Seth, do you try to get around Cole and slow him down, or do you just try to

02:13To me, I almost feel like I would want to stop his momentum, but here in this spot, what do

02:19See, if, I mean, in this kind of situation, what I'm trying to do is while he's focused on the

02:26I'm going to be trying to break his rhythm, like you said.
02:29I'm going to try and surprise him, get a front wheel in there, take his mind off of going forward,

02:36and, oh, I've got to defend, so I think that's what I'd be focusing on.
02:39Cole Davies made quick work of Daxton Benick.
02:41His teammate, Landon Gordon, is in the mechanics area, and he works on his other teammate, Nate Trasher.
02:47Well, this is going to really test the spirit of Seth Hamaker right now,
02:51because Cole Davies has made some clutch moves to get by,
02:54and you're going to keep your eye on the top of your screen right here.
02:57This is where Cole Davies is so explosive and so fast.

03:28because I believe if Cole gets around his teammate,
03:31he might just ride off into the sunset.
03:34Nate Trasher's coming off his best result of the year.
03:36Hasn't been on the podium yet,
03:38but a fourth last weekend in St. Louis was crucial for him
03:41to get things back on track.
03:43Right here, going back to the last lap.
03:45Cole needs to be right on the rear tire of Trasher
03:48if he wants to absolutely execute this pass going through the whoops.

04:26Yeah, well, this is fun as you watch him go through.

04:30She is not watching the race.
04:31She never does.
04:32She sets a clock on her phone for 13 minutes,
04:35paces nervously because she doesn't want to watch her son race,
04:38and then two minutes to go,
04:39she'll check to see if he's heading to the podium or not.
04:42This action is going on right now.
04:44One person doesn't know his mom.
04:46I think that helps with the stress a lot.
04:49I would do the same, but I can't.
04:51I have to watch.

05:17because while Cole doesn't know he's in second right now,
05:20he's got to make up as much time as he possibly can
05:23before Cole looks back and goes,
05:25OK, Seth's right there.
05:26So I think he's really got to execute these laps nicely
05:29to try and gain as much time while maybe Cole's still relaxed.

06:18to create that extra bit of momentum for his bike to keep going sideways.

06:25I mean, to be able to get back up.
06:26But when I started that, he overjumped that triple
06:28and got his way too far forward.
06:30That's what pushed him off that balance.
06:32But, man, tough break.
06:34He said he was going to hang out.
06:35He's still in fourth place, so didn't lose too much.
06:38But, man, that's going to be costly as far as going after the win.
06:41And hopefully we can make it back and salvage the podium.
06:45That's all we've got to try and go for.
06:47And hopefully he's just kind of hoping if maybe Cole makes a mistake
06:52in the upcoming rounds or something else.
06:54This is Devin Simonson up against Henry Miller.

07:03This is a good scrap for fifth place.

07:10It seems like you can maybe hop out of that berm
07:13and just close the guys off even if they have the more momentum on the outside.

07:22And at the moment, as we race,
07:25Simonson has the upper hand on his Club MX teammate Cody Schock.
07:28These two have been having an awesome season this year, going back and forth.
07:32Yeah, they've been going back and forth, like you said,
07:34trade positions each weekend, diff.
07:36But what a ride by Henry Miller right here.
07:40He was working on Simonson, was able to make the pass.

08:19That's exactly where he got season best in Detroit a couple of races ago.

08:27Henry sits behind, Seth Hammocker, ahead of Devin Simonson.
08:29Meanwhile, race leader Cole Davies has blown out to almost a six-second advantage.

08:36And I feel like when you get into this position for a rider the caliber of Cole,
08:41this is just...
08:42I feel like he's just in maintenance or maintaining mode.

08:47Ricky, for all of you guys, just chatting with Cole Davies yesterday,
08:51asking about sort of how far he's come from round one for him to this point.
08:56Now, he was just describing how much of a kind of calmer rider he is, more controlled.
09:01He specifically talked about when he doesn't get the start.
09:05And it was a decent start, but we didn't see him out there with a hold shot and what he
09:08does.
09:09And he said he's just learned to go about being calm in those moments,
09:13working his way forward, not panicking, not kind of going,
09:15I've got to get to the front and overpushing.
09:17And what we're seeing is a work from him.
09:19That's just exactly what we saw today.
09:21And he seems to be learning it very quickly.
09:23He said nobody told him that.
09:24He just figured it out.
09:25I just feel that we're seeing this rider really develop right in front of our eyes for the season.
09:29A lot of box there.
09:30You saw Hunter Lawrence riding towards the gate area to get ready for his main event.
09:35Look, New Zealand, for a small population, produces incredible sports men and women
09:41and sporting accomplishments.
09:43I can't remember if I said this last week or not, but you may have seen the news story
09:47where this young man, this teenage sensation Cole Davies,
09:51has captured the attention of fellow New Zealand sports people in the motorsports sphere.
09:56Six-time IndyCar champ Scott Dixon, NASCAR sensation Shane Van Gisbergen,
10:01Liam Lawson, Formula One driver.
10:03They've all reached out to this young man via social media to congratulate him
10:07and to spur him on and encourage him.
10:09That's pretty cool stuff.
10:10No, it really is.
10:11I mean, can you imagine seeing that through social media,
10:14getting the stars of other sports knowing that they're watching you,
10:17but everybody in the motorsports industry, whether you're on two or four-wheel,
10:21we all appreciate it.
10:22Like, I'm sure Cole watches those guys.
10:24I know I do.
10:25So, man, really cool for those guys to reach out to him.
10:29We're just luck.
10:30This is going to be a very generous pickup and points for Cole Davies towards his quest
10:36for this 250 East Division Championship.
10:40Just four minutes and one, four and a half minutes and one lap remaining here,
10:44picking his way through these lappers, doing a fantastic job doing that, JT.
10:50He looks incredible, Ricky.
10:52And what I really enjoy about his racing is just the maturity that he shows.
10:57Because, yes, riders take risks.
10:59We've heard and seen Seth Hamaker kind of have the negative side of that.
11:04But also, Cole took some risks.
11:05When he made that pass in the whoops, he was a little bit out of shape to make the pass
11:09on Thrasher,
11:10but he knew when and where to apply that risk.
11:13And the rest of the race, he's been so tremendously patient.
11:16And such a big part of this is knowing when to push.
11:19And if I have to say it, a lot of this reminds me of a young Jett Lawrence,
11:22the patience and then an intensity when needed.
11:25Yeah, it does.
11:26And another thing that I was really impressed with last year with Cole Davies in his rookie season
11:31is when he was getting heat in these races, he was really good at just riding his race.
11:37He didn't get caught in the moment.
11:38Override the motorcycle if he was being pressured.
11:41And to have that amount of self-discipline is very tough.
11:45As you know, Jett and James, hard to do that at a young age.
11:49No, it's, I think, one of the hardest things.
11:51As a young kid, you have all the energy in the world and all you want to do is win.
11:55And I know when I was young, and I still am, you're so competitive and all you want to do
12:00is win.
12:01So I think it's a great thing to have knowing when you need to step it up
12:04and when you need to, you know what, back it down.
12:07Like you said in this one, he had that little burst of energy in the whoops to make a pass.
12:11And now, honestly, you just see him flowing.
12:13You don't see any extra energy that he's putting in.
12:16You don't see any extra thing he's trying to pull out.
12:19Just hitting his marks and doing it.
12:20And now you see here, we're just talking about that.
12:23See if Seth could maybe catch up to make a salvage of podium.
12:26And he's doing that right now.
12:27Even second place is right there, Dax.
12:30So he's going to get some fun racing really soon.
12:33Yeah, Seth has done a great job at catching these guys.
12:35He was about seven seconds behind him.
12:37So he's doing everything.
12:38He understands if he can't beat Cole, he needs to finish behind him.
12:41So great recovery from here.
12:43Right now, I think it's a great opportunity.
12:45Maybe some of these guys get caught up in these lappers.
12:47But Seth's got to try to make that second place.
12:50Daxton Benick isn't that far up the track either.
12:52So Thrasher is the first one on Seth Hamaker's list.
12:55Then Daxton Benick, who is having the best season of his career.
13:00If he can finish second.

13:03So he's up to third.
13:05Yeah, I was just about to call that out.
13:06It felt like Seth needed to make that pass.
13:09While Nate was more concentrating on that lapper,
13:11he might be able to sneak up the inside.
13:14Great move by him in third place.
13:15Let's see if we can get another one.
13:16Yeah, he used Jeremy Hamm there as a pick to get by.
13:20I don't think that Nate was anticipating that.
13:24I think right now these combinations in the whoops is the worst time.
13:30You have absolutely cuffed out beat whoops with dry sling.
13:36And these edges, if people were down there seeing,
13:38they are like concrete curves.
13:40So as soon as that thing gets kicked sideways,
13:42it is so hard to try and get that back tamed.
13:45Like as you've seen then before with Seth's run through there.
13:48So it's hairy.
13:50You're kind of deciding like, oh, do I jump?
13:52But they're not broken down as much as like an east coast with like last weekend.
13:56They broke down massively.
13:57You can kind of jump them.
13:58So he's in a hairy kind of situation of either jumping or skimming.
14:03But he's still going with skimming because he's trying to make up passes right now.

14:19in this 250 East Division main event here in Nashville.
14:23It'll be interesting to see how much of a fight Daxton Benick puts up right here
14:27because the 10 of Seth Hamaker has made up an immense amount of time.
14:32He is all over him.
14:34The one thing Seth Hamaker has shown us time and again, James,
14:37as he works on Benick here, is he can have an incident.
14:40And he rebounds and recovers so well.
14:43They both go down.
14:45Benick and Hamaker are down.
14:47Oh, man.
14:49Thresher goes through to grab second place.
14:52Oh, my goodness.
14:54What a heartbreak for Benick.
14:57Oh, he was doing it.
14:59And the 10.
14:59That's such a bummer.

15:06Daxton lost the rear end and then Seth had that momentum.
15:10But because Seth almost jumped off the racetrack, it actually threw him wide.
15:14So he was able to square that corner up.
15:16And those two collided.
15:18One more lap to go for Cole Davies.
15:20He has no idea of the mayhem that has just unfolded behind him.
15:25Final lap.
15:27And this is going to be massive for a guy like Devin Simonson.
15:33Showing him still fifth right here.
15:36That will be a career mess for Devin Simonson.
15:39Davies is en route to his fourth victory of the year.
15:44What a ride by this guy.
15:46This guy doesn't even know the carnage that's going on behind him.
15:49It's like, oh, that was a pretty nice car for a race.
15:51Oh.
15:54And this is what he does best.
15:55Stays in control.
15:57Manages everything.
15:59Championship on his mind.
16:01Gives himself a little confirmation nod there.
16:06And in similar fashion to his teammate Hayden Deegan last weekend, it's going to be a 15-plus second win.

16:16And increases his championship lead in the 250 East Division.

16:32Daxton Benick's got to try and regroup and recover here.
