00:14:32It talks about that in Matthew in chapter 6.
00:14:36And here's the thing.
00:14:38When I was dwelling on that.
00:14:39I was like okay well if he already knows what I'm going to ask.
00:14:42Then why do I have to ask him?
00:14:44And the Holy Spirit said because God wants to be invited into your life.
00:14:50He wants that invitation.
00:14:52He wants that ask from you.
00:14:53And so tonight when you feel in your heart you know I'm here tonight and I've got some issues.
00:15:00I've got some things.
00:15:01I need prayer.
00:15:02And that's what these prayer partners are here for you tonight.
00:15:04They're here to come into agreement with you.
00:15:07For God to move mightily in your life.
00:15:11Psalm 34 in verse 17 says this.
00:15:14The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them.
00:15:19He delivers them from all of their troubles.
00:15:22What an amazing word right there.
00:15:25And so tonight as we're going into this next song right here.

00:23:04Two summers ago now
00:23:08How many know that nothing's incurable in the kingdom of God
00:23:13It attacks my voice, my speech, my movements

00:23:22There's something we gotta do
00:23:25This church has five and a half million dollars in debt
00:23:30God's house should not have debt
00:23:32Can I tell you some good news?
00:23:34God will pay off his house
00:23:37He will do it
00:23:39We just have to take up the
00:23:41Come into agreement with the word
00:23:43And decide to do it as a church
00:23:45To decide to be those vessels
00:23:48Because he uses people
00:23:50This is how he's gonna do it
00:23:52People that purpose in their heart to become sowers
00:23:54Towards the debt
00:23:56He will bring you the wealth that you need
00:23:59To pay it off
00:24:00This is a promise in his word
00:24:01He says it like this
00:24:04God gives seed to the sower
00:24:07The sower is someone who's purposed to give already
00:24:10A purpose in their heart
00:24:12So if you pray a bold prayer tonight

00:24:16It sounds like a lot, five and a half million
00:24:18That's nothing to God

00:25:06You answer her
00:25:07He began to talk
00:25:08She wept
00:25:10I've seen a lame man in the foyer
00:25:13Couldn't walk, stand up on his feet and walk
00:25:15By the end of two weeks he was completely walking around
00:25:19Totally whole and healed
00:25:20Got up out of a wheelchair
00:25:22And walked to the bathroom
00:25:25I've seen incredible miracles
00:25:27I've seen cancer
00:25:28Healed so many times I can't count
00:25:33You say well pastor
00:25:34You're a pastor
00:25:35Of course you see that stuff
00:25:36No, it's not because I'm a pastor
00:25:39It's because I'm a believer
00:25:41These signs will follow them that believe
00:25:44We can pray bold prayers and expect that
00:25:47My very first miracle that I saw
00:25:50At my own prayers
00:25:52I was 16 years old
00:25:54I was driving from Foxworth, Galbraith
00:25:57My workplace

00:26:04When the church was at the Javelina Road
00:26:06How many remember when the church was on Javelina Road?
00:26:09You do, I know you do
00:26:11Yeah, some of us go way back to Javelina Road
00:26:14Little office building that we were renting
00:26:18And it was a long drive
00:26:20And I got caught in an Arizona downpour
00:26:23You know what that is?
00:26:24If you've never been in Arizona
00:26:26If you're watching online
00:26:28We don't get a lot of rain
00:26:29But when we rain, it rains
00:26:31We know how to rain, right?
00:26:33It was coming down in sheets
00:26:35And I was driving a 30-year-old car
00:26:37It was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 door
00:26:40I paid $1,500 for it
00:26:43Now that car would be worth $100,000
00:26:45But back then it was $1,500
00:26:49And windshield wipers didn't work
00:26:51I turned the knob
00:26:52First time I tried the windshield wipers
00:26:54It didn't work
00:26:55And I was
00:26:56I couldn't see
00:26:57So I safely pulled off the side of the road
00:26:59And I had to get to the church quickly
00:27:01Because I was the drummer
00:27:03And the service couldn't start
00:27:04Until I got there to help them
00:27:05With the worship team
00:27:08And I was like, God, I gotta go
00:27:09I can't be stuck on the side of the road
00:27:11I can't see a thing out the window
00:27:14And so I said, Lord, heal my windshield wipers
00:27:17Then I remembered what my dad had taught
00:27:20He taught out of Mark chapter 11
00:27:21If anyone says to this mountain
00:27:24Anyone
00:27:25Say anyone

00:27:28Anyone is anyone
00:27:29If anyone says to this mountain
00:27:31Be removed
00:27:32Cast into the scene
00:27:33Does not doubt in his heart

00:27:39And so I said to the windshield wipers

00:27:45I began to repeat this over and over again
00:27:48I was saying it was boldness
00:27:49A 16-year-old boy
00:27:51Young driver
00:27:52Didn't know what he was doing
00:27:53One foot in the world
00:27:55One foot in the house of God
00:27:56I was certainly not living my life with the Lord
00:27:59But I knew
00:28:00I knew that God was able
00:28:03I had faith in God
00:28:05I said
00:28:07Windshield wiper work in Jesus name
00:28:10It started to jitter
00:28:11And then all of a sudden
00:28:15Went just enough that I could drive to the church
00:28:17Made it there just in time
00:28:20I was so excited to tell my dad the miracle
00:28:24After the service dismissed
00:28:26I went and ran up to him and said
00:28:27Dad you never believe what happened
00:28:29So I told him this story
00:28:31But the next morning
00:28:32I was eating cereal
00:28:34I was eating cereal in the kitchen in my tighty whities
00:28:37TMI maybe
00:28:38Sorry
00:28:39My dad comes bursting into the kitchen
00:28:41He said
00:28:41Son you have to come see this
00:28:43Well let me get some shorts on
00:28:45So I went outside and he's got the hood of my car popped
00:28:48And he said he was inspecting the windshield wiper mechanism
00:28:51Just like a good dad does
00:28:54Checking it out for his son
00:28:55He said look at this hose right here
00:28:58And he showed me a hose that was disintegrating
00:29:01In his hand
00:29:02A 30 year old car
00:29:03Of course it would be
00:29:04And he said this hose is a vacuum hose
00:29:07I said so what
00:29:09I was confused
00:29:10He said this vacuum hose actually runs the windshield wipers
00:29:14These old cars run on vacuum hoses
00:29:17They're not electrical windshield wipers
00:29:19I said okay
00:29:20He said this wasn't even hooked up
00:29:23He said you had a supernatural encounter with God
00:29:29I laughed at myself
00:29:30Because I thought what angel
00:29:31Got to sign the duty of
00:29:34Really this is what I do
00:29:36I'm an angel doing this
00:29:40You know what the difference is
00:29:43It's not that I'm a pastor
00:29:45It's that I believe bold prayers
00:29:47I pray bold prayers
00:29:48And I trust God
00:29:49You say pastor how are you doing

00:29:53I'm healed in Jesus name

00:33:27I just wanted to let you guys know
00:33:29I learned something this week
00:33:31So one of Katie's favorite drinks is matcha
00:33:35And apparently I've been saying it wrong my whole life
00:33:37And I added a tea in there
00:33:39And she finally just told me
00:33:41We've been married for four years
00:33:42She's been drinking this drink longer than four years
00:33:45She's just never corrected me apparently
00:33:48I've been calling it matcha
00:33:49She goes, there's no tea in there
00:33:50And I said, what you are saying is what I hear out of my lips
00:33:54So what am I saying?
00:33:56She goes, you put a tea in there
00:33:57And I was like, alright
00:33:59Are you sure?
00:34:00Because what I hear is what you're saying
00:34:02She's like, no, you added a tea
00:34:03So now, it's in the same way
00:34:06I always say ketchup instead of ketchup
00:34:08I have to think before I say it
00:34:10Like milk, I do it with an E
00:34:12I go milk
00:34:13So I have to think before I say certain words
00:34:15And now I have to add matcha to the list
00:34:17Because I just go, matcha
00:34:18Nope, that's wrong
00:34:19Matcha, matcha
00:34:21And you know how sometimes
00:34:22There's always these little things
00:34:23That you go, man
00:34:24Weird quirks about yourself
00:34:26And then if you allow these weird quirks
00:34:28To sort of fester into your thoughts
00:34:30It just turns into this belief that
00:34:31Oh, I'm not good at talking
00:34:33Or like, oh, I'm not good enough
00:34:34Or, oh, I don't
00:34:35And then X, Y, Z
00:34:37Whatever you wanna label it as
00:34:38We have a very funny way
00:34:40Of doing that to ourselves
00:34:42Where we allow ourselves
00:34:43To feel like we're not good enough
00:34:45Based off of whatever circumstance
00:34:47Has led up to this point
00:34:49And you go, that's not like
00:34:50An abnormal thing
00:34:51Even for doctors
00:34:52They call it imposter syndrome
00:34:54Okay, for people who go to school
00:34:56For an incredibly long time
00:34:57And then all of a sudden
00:34:58One day, they're supposed to be
00:34:59The trusted advisor
00:35:01That we go to
00:35:02To get our questions answered, right?
00:35:04And then even in those moments
00:35:05They have to trust their training
00:35:07And trust what they've learned
00:35:08And go, okay, actually
00:35:09I know what I'm talking about
00:35:10At this point
00:35:11There isn't a resident
00:35:13Or somebody who's superior to me
00:35:14At this point
00:35:15Where I can turn and look
00:35:16And say, am I saying the right thing?
00:35:17It's, I'm saying the right thing
00:35:19I have to trust and know
00:35:20That this is what I'm doing
00:35:21You know, it happens all the time
00:35:23In life, right?
00:35:24We do that
00:35:25Where, can you imagine
00:35:26If you're a parent, right?
00:35:27You are supposed to give advice
00:35:29To your kids
00:35:30Whenever they come up to you
00:35:31Can you imagine if your child
00:35:32Came up to you and you go
00:35:33That's a great question
00:35:34We should call your grandma
00:35:35And grandpa
00:35:36Because actually, I still go to them
00:35:37For everything too
00:35:38You know, like we do that
00:35:39All the time
00:35:40If Esther came up to me
00:35:41Had a question
00:35:42It's like, if it's not
00:35:43Go to mom
00:35:44It's, let me call my mom
00:35:45You know, I still go to my mom
00:35:47She has all the answers
00:35:48It's really good
00:35:49It's really great
00:35:50Or even, this is the kicker one
00:35:52Where one day you wake up
00:35:54And you're the
00:35:55You're old enough now
00:35:56Where you have to start providing
00:35:57At like the family parties
00:35:58Right?
00:35:59You have to bring the food
00:36:00In order for everybody to eat
00:36:01You're not just a kid anymore
00:36:02Who shows up
00:36:03You're like, hey, this is it
00:36:05I worked really hard
00:36:06And I fought really hard
00:36:07To only bring drinks
00:36:09That took a long, long effort
00:36:12All right?
00:36:13Of me being like 18 years old
00:36:14Signing off for like plates
00:36:16Or utensils or drinks
00:36:17And then I get married to Kate
00:36:18And she's like, we should bring food
00:36:19So you don't have to worry about that
00:36:21I've laid down the groundwork
00:36:22We only have to bring drinks
00:36:24Or plates
00:36:24She goes, no, no
00:36:25This isn't what I want to do
00:36:26And we do this, right?
00:36:28Where we have these goals
00:36:30We have these ambitions
00:36:31And then we have the problem
00:36:33Where we're picking fights
00:36:35That have already been won
00:36:36Right?
00:36:37We start fighting against the past
00:36:39Even though we're a new creation
00:36:41And we have to start convincing ourselves
00:36:43Hey, I'm actually good enough
00:36:44Because God says that I'm good enough
00:36:46That I am right
00:36:47His righteousness
00:36:48This is what the Bible says about me
00:36:49But then I look at myself
00:36:51And I go, but I know everything
00:36:53That I've ever done wrong
00:36:54I just don't know if I'm the right person
00:36:56For this job
00:36:58Or for what we're doing
00:36:59And we have this problem, right?
00:37:01And it's this balance
00:37:02Because how do I balance being a new creation
00:37:04Being made new in Christ
00:37:06And having that be my identity
00:37:09While also balancing with the fact
00:37:11That I also want to live up to that identity
00:37:13And make God right, right?
00:37:15Because it's not a free license to sin
00:37:17Just because Jesus paid that debt
00:37:19That's not what it is
00:37:20What it is
00:37:21Is it's an encouragement
00:37:22To continue to follow him
00:37:24And do it in the best way possible
00:37:25Knowing that at the end
00:37:26The fight is already won
00:37:27I've given my life to him
00:37:28And this is that
00:37:29So what is this truth
00:37:31That I'm standing on
00:37:32And how is it going to affect my day-to-day
00:37:34And how do I win this fight?
00:37:36Or better get
00:37:36How do I not get into this fight anymore
00:37:38When I'm worried about
00:37:40What my past looks like
00:37:41Because I want to make sure that
00:37:42Where I'm going
00:37:43God actually picked the right person
00:37:45What I want to share today
00:37:47Is working from the title
00:37:48Leaving Well
00:37:50Right?
00:37:50We all want to do this
00:37:51We want to go before somebody
00:37:53And have them have a better experience
00:37:56Having talked with us
00:37:57Having had an experience
00:37:59A conversation with us
00:38:00That they were able to leave well
00:38:01Leave better than they were before they came
00:38:04And we experience that
00:38:05Every single time we go to Jesus, right?
00:38:07We can lay down our worries
00:38:09We can go for advice
00:38:10We can go for anything at all
00:38:12So what I wanted to look at tonight
00:38:14Is a story from the woman at the well
00:38:16With Jesus in John 4
00:38:18And it's always a great story to go back on
00:38:22Because it's really deep
00:38:24And there's a lot of good biblical truths
00:38:26And principles inside of it
00:38:27And the story goes
00:38:28That Jesus is going through Samaria
00:38:31And he is thirsty
00:38:34So he stops at a well
00:38:35And it's actually a well that Jacob built
00:38:38And there's this woman there
00:38:40She's a Samaritan woman
00:38:41And at this point in time especially
00:38:43The Jews didn't necessarily associate
00:38:46With the Samaritans
00:38:47And especially in this time too
00:38:49In the Jewish culture
00:38:50It wasn't very common
00:38:51Especially for a man to go
00:38:53And to seek out
00:38:54Just a one-on-one conversation with the woman
00:38:56Without having other people present
00:38:58There was a lot more going into
00:39:00As far as culturally
00:39:01And the things that were accepted
00:39:03At that point in time
00:39:04And what Jesus does
00:39:06Is he makes an introduction of himself to her
00:39:08And he asks for a drink
00:39:09And this is what she goes on to say
00:39:12In verse 10
00:39:13Where Jesus answered to her
00:39:15If you knew the gift of God
00:39:17And who it is that asked you for a drink
00:39:19You would have asked him
00:39:20And he would have given you living water
00:39:22Sir, the woman said
00:39:24You have nothing to draw with
00:39:26And the well is deep
00:39:27Where can you get this living water?
00:39:29Are you greater than our father Jacob
00:39:32Who gave us the well
00:39:33And drank from it himself
00:39:35As did also his sons
00:39:37And his livestock
00:39:38So Jesus shows us this glimpse
00:39:41One, into his power
00:39:42And his authority
00:39:43But the way he offers this information to her
00:39:46Is also poised
00:39:49And imposed as something
00:39:50That you have to understand
00:39:52And then something that you have to have knowledge of
00:39:55And he's freely sharing this knowledge, right?
00:39:57It's not something that's being withheld
00:39:58But you have to have knowledge of it
00:40:00And you have to have an understanding of it
00:40:02He talks a lot like this, right?
00:40:05That he's always going to give us something
00:40:07And then we see it at surface level
00:40:09And a lot of the times we miss
00:40:11The biblical truths that are inside of it
00:40:13Think of all the parables, right?
00:40:14That are across the gospels
00:40:16And every single time
00:40:17The disciples are like
00:40:18What are you talking about?
00:40:19And it's like
00:40:19I'm not just talking about
00:40:21Whatever the parable is going on, right?
00:40:23There's something more and deeper to this
00:40:26And it's our questions
00:40:28And it's our probing
00:40:29That allows us to find out
00:40:31The deeper meaning
00:40:32And her question is very much so related
00:40:35To just physical thirst, right?
00:40:37And she's talking about
00:40:38The greatness of Jacob
00:40:39Because Jacob built a well
00:40:41That isn't just quenching his thirst
00:40:43And his family's thirst
00:40:44It quenched the thirst of everybody around
00:40:47In that area
00:40:48And it went on for generations
00:40:49That's incredible
00:40:50That's a gift that literally keeps on giving
00:40:52So her knowledge even of this gift
00:40:55Is something that's so temporary
00:40:57Because oh, it's just going to quench my thirst now
00:40:59Like I'm going to be thirsty again tomorrow
00:41:00And I'm going to have to come to this well
00:41:02And do this all over again
00:41:04And what Jesus is talking about
00:41:07What he's speaking of
00:41:08Is this water is something different
00:41:09This word that they use for living in the Greek
00:41:12Actually is living water
00:41:13Having vital power in itself
00:41:16And exerting the same upon the soul
00:41:18So it's not just a water that's going to quench your thirst
00:41:22It's literally a water that is good for your soul
00:41:26But she's missing the point, right?
00:41:29Have you guys ever noticed that in movies?
00:41:32There's some incredible storytelling
00:41:34But if the camera shot or the angle is wrong
00:41:37Or if you're like looking in the background
00:41:39And you can see all these like mess ups from the crew in the background
00:41:42That's not supposed to be there
00:41:43It takes away from the entire story
00:41:45And you go, oh, like I feel like I missed the point
00:41:47Because I was so focused on the background
00:41:50And just to let you guys know
00:41:52Like directors hate when that happens
00:41:54Because they actually go through a lot of effort
00:41:56And a lot of work to produce movies in certain movie angles
00:42:00So I'm going to show you guys something
00:42:01It's called the rule of thirds
00:42:02They're going to put it up on the screen for me
00:42:04So essentially what it is
00:42:06Is any sort of screen that you see
00:42:08Movies, TV shows
00:42:10It's broken up into thirds, right?
00:42:13So you have your two horizontal lines
00:42:15And then your two vertical lines
00:42:17Anything that is important
00:42:19Is always placed in the perception of the two vertical lines
00:42:23If it's very important
00:42:25They call it power points
00:42:26And that's where they're intersecting
00:42:28Between the horizontal and the vertical
00:42:30So we think we're just watching a movie
00:42:32But there's something intentional about the storytelling
00:42:36About what is the primary focus of what's being shown
00:42:38So then I picked an example for me
00:42:42Because it's one of my favorite movies
00:42:44Gladiator, okay?
00:42:46The first one, okay?
00:42:48The second one was good
00:42:50But not as good as the first one
00:42:52And just so you guys know
00:42:54Some family history of mine
00:42:55Gladiator was the first movie we ever got on DVD
00:42:59At that point everything was VHS, okay?
00:43:02When we got it
00:43:03We didn't even have a DVD player at the time
00:43:05We won it in like a white elephant gift at Christmas
00:43:07I was holding it up to my parents
00:43:09I was like, what is this?
00:43:10And they go, I don't know
00:43:11Some new technology they have coming out
00:43:14This entire battle, right?
00:43:16Happens
00:43:17And they are constantly in the power points of every scene
00:43:21So when you're looking at cameras that are following and panning
00:43:24About all of this action that's going on
00:43:26What your eyes are focusing on are the power points
00:43:30And then you notice it in storytelling too
00:43:33Where you always have the really artsy guys
00:43:35Who love movies and pay attention
00:43:36And they've trained their eyes to also look into the background
00:43:39And the background adds context to what the power point is
00:43:43But that's all it's supposed to do is add context
00:43:46It's not supposed to take over the entire picture
00:43:48So there's a lot of times in our life
00:43:51Where we've made the background and the background noise
00:43:54Our entire power point
00:43:55Rather than having God's word be the power in our life
00:43:59And speaking and directing our eyes
00:44:01And where we're going, right?
00:44:03And it happens all the time
00:44:04And it's very natural and easy to do
00:44:09So what I want to do
00:44:10And what I continue to try to just encourage even myself
00:44:13And to train on it is this
00:44:15Is that what are my eyes fixed on?
00:44:17Because if he's revealing a truth to me
00:44:19That he has established and I'm missing it
00:44:21Because I just think he's talking about fishing
00:44:25And it's like no, there's something even deeper to this
00:44:28Then this is what I want to address
00:44:29And this is what I want to look at
00:44:30And this is how the conversation continues on
00:44:33With the woman at the well
00:44:35It goes on in verse 13
00:44:37It says, Jesus answered
00:44:39Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again
00:44:42But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst
00:44:45Indeed, the water I give them will become in them
00:44:48A spring of water welling up to eternal life, right?
00:44:53Everyone's day is filled with the pursuit
00:44:57Of trying to have some sort of either satisfaction
00:45:00Or temporary feeling, enjoyment, right?
00:45:04And it could be
00:45:04What are you going to have for dinner that night, right?
00:45:07Of course we need nourishment in order to be healthy
00:45:09And to survive
00:45:10But we go from
00:45:11What am I going to have for breakfast?
00:45:12To lunch?
00:45:13To dinner?
00:45:14It's Arizona in the middle of the summer
00:45:16They go, what is the next room that I can go into
00:45:18That has AC, right?
00:45:19When you're Katie right now
00:45:21It's like, when is Christian going to come home
00:45:23So he can chase Esther around
00:45:24And I can get off of my feet
00:45:26I'm in my third trimester
00:45:27Like we're in constant pursuit
00:45:29Of our next break
00:45:31Of a moment that's going to give us
00:45:32Some sort of satisfaction and fulfillment
00:45:34But they're fleeting
00:45:36And it's not something to be ashamed of, right?
00:45:38We all have to do it, right?
00:45:40We all have to know where the next meal is coming from
00:45:42We all have thirst
00:45:44But it's never fully satisfied
00:45:46And it's never fully quenched
00:45:48So what we're talking about here
00:45:51Thirsty in the Greek
00:45:52Literally means figuratively
00:45:54Those who are said to thirst
00:45:55Who painfully feel their want of
00:45:58Right?
00:45:59Have you guys ever been that thirsty?
00:46:01You painfully feel their want of
00:46:03Okay, so this is more than that
00:46:05Because this isn't just something physical
00:46:07It's something spiritual
00:46:08They eagerly long for those things
00:46:10By which the soul is refreshed
00:46:12Supported and strengthened
00:46:13So how do I satisfy this thirst?
00:46:17It's by seeking first the kingdom
00:46:19And then everything else is going to be added
00:46:21And a lot of times our pursuit
00:46:23Is in fleeting things, right?
00:46:25It's the background
00:46:26It's the noise that we hear
00:46:27It's the things that we feel like
00:46:29Are going to satisfy us
00:46:30And then lo and behold
00:46:31We're thirsty again
00:46:32We thought enough was going to be enough
00:46:34Right?
00:46:35And it happens in little things
00:46:36We start out in life
00:46:38Making minimum wage
00:46:40Working part time job
00:46:41And then you go
00:46:42When I have a grown up job
00:46:43And when I have big boy money
00:46:45And then you get big boy money
00:46:47And then you go
00:46:47Man, I'm going to move out
00:46:49And then you move out
00:46:50And you go
00:46:50Man, I don't have any money
00:46:52I don't know how my parents do this
00:46:53This is incredible
00:46:54The fact that my parents have me over once a week
00:46:57That is a blessing
00:46:59You know what I mean?
00:47:00And we go through this moment
00:47:01Where we're constantly going
00:47:02Hey, if I could just make this much
00:47:04Then I'll have enough
00:47:05And then you make it
00:47:06And then we start to spend a little bit more
00:47:08And you go
00:47:08Okay, well I need to make this much
00:47:10And then I have enough
00:47:11This is the cycle that we go through
00:47:13And it's something that we naturally do
00:47:15But how do I address this thirst
00:47:18That I'm starting to feel
00:47:19That isn't always going to be quenched
00:47:22Because there's always going to be something new
00:47:24Right?
00:47:25Right now, Katie and I
00:47:27Will have our little battles
00:47:29About how low the AC should be
00:47:31Okay?
00:47:32I grew up in a family
00:47:33That was like
00:47:33Hey, the air is at like 79, 80
00:47:36And the fans on
00:47:37We're good
00:47:38Katie doesn't like ceiling fans
00:47:40Apparently they're ugly
00:47:40I don't know
00:47:41She doesn't want one in our master bedroom
00:47:43Right?
00:47:44She wanted some pretty little chandelier light
00:47:47And I was like
00:47:47Where's the fan?
00:47:48And she goes
00:47:49We don't need that
00:47:50I said okay
00:47:51But when you're hot
00:47:52I don't want to hear it
00:47:53Because we had the opportunity
00:47:55To buy a fan and install it
00:47:56And you chose a pretty little light
00:47:58Alright?
00:47:59Okay?
00:48:00She wants right now
00:48:01At night for it to be 75
00:48:03That might as well be Antarctica for me
00:48:05I'm like
00:48:06What are we doing?
00:48:07Okay?
00:48:07You guys all who cool your house way lower
00:48:09I would like to compare our electric bills
00:48:12To be honest with you
00:48:13Because if we're being completely honest
00:48:15That's my main motivating factor
00:48:17In this entire thing
00:48:18Okay?
00:48:18So my satisfaction
00:48:20Of this thirst
00:48:22That I'm hoping to be quenched
00:48:23You know what it is?
00:48:24Winter time
00:48:25When I don't turn anything on
00:48:27And we only have blankets
00:48:28Okay?
00:48:29Katie's quenched
00:48:30Like the satisfaction
00:48:31That needs to be had
00:48:33Is when she's not pregnant
00:48:34And just running warm
00:48:35All the time
00:48:36Okay?
00:48:37You know what?
00:48:39God's version of this
00:48:40That I will never go thirsty again
00:48:42Is knowing that He provides the provision
00:48:45And no matter how expensive an electric bill is
00:48:47God's got it
00:48:48Do you see the difference?
00:48:50Mine is
00:48:51Oh, I'm just waiting for this next season
00:48:52And then lo and behold
00:48:54All of a sudden
00:48:55Now Katie's cold
00:48:56And we need the heater on
00:48:57Right?
00:48:57So then now it's just a different bill
00:48:59And then
00:48:59And then you know what I mean?
00:49:01It's like we do this
00:49:02It's my version of seeking for the solution
00:49:04Is actually going to be needing another solution
00:49:07In a different season
00:49:08Because it didn't get to the heart
00:49:10Of what was going on
00:49:12The real solution
00:49:13The real solution
00:49:13Is knowing that God is going to provide
00:49:14And take care
00:49:15And that when I put my hands to work
00:49:17He is going to bless the works of my hands
00:49:19That's completely different
00:49:21Than my train of thought
00:49:22That originally goes like that
00:49:23Right?
00:49:24And it's funny
00:49:24And we can laugh
00:49:25And we can joke about it
00:49:26But then I start to go
00:49:28Wait, how many times do I do that in my life
00:49:29In other areas?
00:49:31Where I think the solution is this
00:49:33And it really is only going to satisfy me for a season
00:49:37Where it's only going to bring relief for a moment
00:49:40Because I didn't first seek everything that God had for me
00:49:43I just could only seek what I thought was going to bring value to the moment
00:49:47And it goes on
00:49:49And it continues
00:49:51And the woman asked Jesus
00:49:53Well, if you can tell me where I can get this water
00:49:56Surely I will go get it
00:49:57And then Jesus says
00:49:59Well, go back to your husband
00:50:00And they have this little conversation
00:50:02Where it turns out
00:50:03And he knows that she's had five husbands
00:50:05And he reveals all these personal truths to her
00:50:08And through this
00:50:09In verse 19 it picks up
00:50:11It says
00:50:11Sir, I can see that you are a prophet
00:50:14Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain
00:50:17But you Jews claim that the place where we must worship
00:50:20Is in Jerusalem
00:50:21Woman, Jesus replied
00:50:23Believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father
00:50:26Neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem
00:50:29You Samaritans worship what you do not know
00:50:31We worship what we do know
00:50:33For salvation is from the Jews
00:50:35Yet a time is coming
00:50:36And now has come when the true worshipers
00:50:39We're going to talk about this
00:50:40Will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth
00:50:43For they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks
00:50:46God is Spirit
00:50:47And his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth
00:50:53So right here
00:50:54Truth in the Greek means
00:50:56That which has not only the name and resemblance
00:50:59But the real nature corresponding to the name in every aspect
00:51:05Worship in this Greek right here
00:51:07Is the highest form of reverence and honor that you could give
00:51:11So true worship
00:51:13So true worship
00:51:13What Jesus is talking about
00:51:15Is that
00:51:16It is not just a name
00:51:19It's everything about it
00:51:21Is honoring
00:51:23And has such high reverence for who God is
00:51:26Right?
00:51:26So this is what he's establishing
00:51:29And then spirit and in truth
00:51:31The Greek word that they're using for spirit right here
00:51:34Is actually what's used to describe the Holy Spirit
00:51:36So it's spirit and truth
00:51:38And who is the truth?
00:51:39Jesus
00:51:40So what he's talking about is being established
00:51:42Is that this isn't going to be a place of worship
00:51:46Where everybody has been accustomed to
00:51:48Right?
00:51:48Where there's the temple
00:51:49There's the Holy of Holies
00:51:50There's a process and a procedure
00:51:52In order to go before God
00:51:54What he's talking about is what's going to be established
00:51:57After he has won and has victory at the cross
00:52:01Right?
00:52:01That it's not necessarily a location
00:52:04Of where a temple would be in Jerusalem
00:52:07That we are going to have access to him
00:52:10Through the Holy Spirit
00:52:11And what is going to be set apart
00:52:13Is the people who believe and receive
00:52:15The free gift that has been given
00:52:17Right?
00:52:18So what he's trying to establish
00:52:20And paint a picture
00:52:21And bring some light to
00:52:23Is everything about this woman
00:52:26And what she would then experience
00:52:28Once Jesus has fulfilled
00:52:30What he was called to do
00:52:31Right?
00:52:33He's not just talking about water
00:52:36He's not just talking about worship
00:52:37In the way that we have been accustomed to it
00:52:41To this point in time
00:52:42For their entire life
00:52:44What he's talking about
00:52:44Is establishing a new sort of process
00:52:49And a new access
00:52:51That's better and greater
00:52:52Than anybody could have ever imagined
00:52:54In this point
00:52:56And then it goes on in verse 25
00:52:57The woman says
00:52:58Because I know that Messiah
00:53:00Called Christ
00:53:01Is coming
00:53:01When he comes
00:53:03He will explain everything to us
00:53:04Then Jesus declared
00:53:05I the one speaking to you
00:53:08I am he
00:53:09She heard everything
00:53:11That he was trying to explain
00:53:13And didn't recognize
00:53:14That it was coming from the Messiah
00:53:16So we can hear truth
00:53:18Right?
00:53:19And sometimes we don't think
00:53:21That it's for us
00:53:23Because we're so focused
00:53:24On everything that has been
00:53:25In our past
00:53:26That we limit ourselves
00:53:28To the goodness of God
00:53:29Because then we go
00:53:30Oh, it must be for somebody else
00:53:31I'm not good enough for that
00:53:34Right?
00:53:35And it happens in the
00:53:36Little list of things
00:53:37So she was expecting
00:53:39To hear something else
00:53:41From someone else
00:53:42And as soon as Jesus revealed
00:53:43What she was looking for
00:53:45Was in him
00:53:46That was when she fully understood
00:53:48So there's so many moments
00:53:50In our life
00:53:51Where we go
00:53:52Oh, I'm receiving this right now
00:53:54I understand it as a truth
00:53:55Of God's truth
00:53:58But how do I get myself
00:53:59To have the confidence
00:54:00To walk it out
00:54:01And know that it's actually for me?
00:54:03Because sometimes you read
00:54:04A story like David and Goliath
00:54:06You go, man, David's a great guy
00:54:07I wish I could defeat the giants
00:54:09In my own life
00:54:10And you think
00:54:11Oh, I read this in the Bible
00:54:13It must be for somebody
00:54:14Who's better than me
00:54:15It must be for somebody
00:54:16Who is more perfect
00:54:18Or doing a better job
00:54:20And I think sometimes we forget
00:54:22That everything that Jesus
00:54:24Has said here
00:54:25Is for you
00:54:27When you receive him
00:54:28And then you have to have
00:54:29The confidence to walk it out
00:54:31And there's gonna be moments
00:54:32Where you have to understand
00:54:33That what we might be reading
00:54:35On a surface level
00:54:36Or understanding on a surface level
00:54:38Isn't everything that he has for us
00:54:40There is this one Sunday
00:54:43Because it's
00:54:43It's always the Sundays
00:54:44That Katie sings
00:54:46In church
00:54:47Where I get to take care of Esther
00:54:49The entire morning
00:54:49And it is a whirlwind
00:54:52Of just letting her be a little girl
00:54:56You know?
00:54:56And I don't like
00:54:57I try not
00:54:58I try to direct and guide
00:54:59I don't try to take over
00:55:01Or anything like that
00:55:02And she had woken up that morning
00:55:05And usually Katie's gone
00:55:07Before Esther is up
00:55:08Because she loves to sleep in
00:55:10I speak things that aren't
00:55:12As though as they are
00:55:13You know what I mean?
00:55:13You just go, please, God, sleep in
00:55:15So what happens is
00:55:17Is that she's sleeping
00:55:18And she wakes up
00:55:19And we've come to find out
00:55:21That if she wakes up to me
00:55:22And doesn't have an option of Katie
00:55:24We're good
00:55:25If she has an option of Katie
00:55:26She will never choose me
00:55:27She will always choose Katie
00:55:28And it's like, I get it
00:55:29I get it
00:55:30That's fine
00:55:30So I go
00:55:31I wake her up
00:55:32She looks at me
00:55:33And I was like, sorry
00:55:34It's just me this morning
00:55:36This is all we got
00:55:37And our morning processes
00:55:39Are very simple
00:55:40Okay?
00:55:41We get her up
00:55:42We go heat up a cup of milk
00:55:44We put honey in it
00:55:45Because she wouldn't drink milk
00:55:47Unless we put honey in it
00:55:48And you know, we've never abandoned that
00:55:50And why would I take that
00:55:51Little joy from her, you know?
00:55:52So she sits down on the couch
00:55:55She drinks her milk
00:55:56And then usually we watch
00:55:57Like some little show
00:55:58This Sunday morning
00:56:00There is a very important
00:56:01Soccer game on
00:56:02Alright?
00:56:03European soccer
00:56:04Champions League
00:56:05Right?
00:56:05All this different stuff
00:56:06It's always Saturdays
00:56:07Or Sundays
00:56:08And it's very early for us
00:56:10Because we're not in their time zone
00:56:11So I sat her down
00:56:12I looked at her
00:56:13I said
00:56:15Sorry, no Mickey today
00:56:16And we were watching the soccer game
00:56:19And for the first time ever
00:56:20Up until this time
00:56:21She just looked at me
00:56:22And then kind of just leaned into me
00:56:25And like cuddled me in a sense
00:56:26And just drank her milk
00:56:27And it just completely shut me down
00:56:30I was like
00:56:31Oh my gosh
00:56:32My daughter loves me
00:56:34Like this is incredible
00:56:35This feeling right here
00:56:36And you know what it was?
00:56:38Is that I was joking about it with Katie
00:56:40Later on that day
00:56:41And I was like
00:56:42She thinks we were just watching soccer
00:56:43And she has no idea what's going on
00:56:46But she doesn't realize
00:56:47That like
00:56:48I'm gonna remember that moment
00:56:49For the rest of my life
00:56:51Because it was really like
00:56:52Like the first moment
00:56:52Where she leaned in
00:56:53And chose to like
00:56:56Sit just in and with me
00:56:58And do whatever I was doing
00:56:59Rather than the other way around
00:57:01And you know what that is?
00:57:03That's an entire relationship
00:57:04That's been built on
00:57:05Let me enter your life
00:57:07At your level
00:57:08And understand where you're coming from
00:57:10And as soon as that understanding was had
00:57:12Then the script was able to be flipped
00:57:13And say okay
00:57:14So then what do you know?
00:57:15What can I have access to?
00:57:17What can I walk into?
00:57:18Because you have laid your life down for me
00:57:20So how can I do that same for you?
00:57:23So then now picture that
00:57:24With your relationship with Jesus
00:57:26Okay so what are you trying to tell me?
00:57:28What am I missing?
00:57:29Because I thought
00:57:30I was just driving through traffic today
00:57:32And we were just talking
00:57:33And then all of a sudden
00:57:34You downloaded something into my spirit
00:57:36And I have so many questions
00:57:38And yet this is the most peace
00:57:39I've ever felt in my entire life
00:57:41What am I missing?
00:57:42How do I take advantage of this?
00:57:44And how do I continue to walk
00:57:46In what you have established?
00:57:48We're going to wrap up here
00:57:50In verse 39
00:57:52It says
00:57:53Many of the Samaritans
00:57:54From that town believed in him
00:57:55Because of the woman's testimony
00:57:56He told me everything I ever did
00:57:59So that when the Samaritans came to him
00:58:01They urged him to stay with them
00:58:02And he stayed two days
00:58:04And because of his words
00:58:05Many more became believers
00:58:08They said to the woman
00:58:09We no longer believe
00:58:10Just because of what you said
00:58:12Now we have heard for ourselves
00:58:14And we know that this man
00:58:15Really is the savior of the world
00:58:19This is a woman who had such a deep past
00:58:22That would have casted her aside in society
00:58:25Right?
00:58:26In another one of the gospels
00:58:27Where they're talking about this story
00:58:29It's talking about how it's during the day
00:58:31Right?
00:58:32So in order for her to go to the well
00:58:34At that point in time
00:58:35It really is to avoid going
00:58:36With all the other women in town
00:58:38She was a point of gossip
00:58:39So to avoid that
00:58:41She would just go out
00:58:42When nobody else was out
00:58:44So this is a woman who's experiencing
00:58:46Deep shame
00:58:47Right?
00:58:48I'm sure guilt
00:58:49And then Jesus meets her
00:58:51Exactly where she's at
00:58:52And despite her past
00:58:54Despite her story
00:58:55She's the introduction to the Messiah
00:58:58For so many people in this town
00:59:00But this is the important part
00:59:02Is that everybody else starts to say
00:59:05We believed you because what you said
00:59:08But we believed anymore
00:59:10Once we heard it for ourselves
00:59:12Do you know what that's like?
00:59:13It's like when we're kids
00:59:14And we have to decide
00:59:16That this faith that we have
00:59:17Is not just the faith of my fathers
00:59:19But it's actually the faith that's mine
00:59:21And this is a decision that I make
00:59:23So this is a really good point
00:59:25Take the pressure off
00:59:28Somebody getting to heaven
00:59:30Is because of Jesus
00:59:32We can be the introduction
00:59:33But you have to take off the extra pressure
00:59:36Where you're the one who has to do it all
00:59:38But then also you have to take off that credit
00:59:40Where you think you did it all
00:59:42Right?
00:59:43We're the introduction
00:59:45Can people experience Jesus through our actions
00:59:48Through our words?
00:59:49Yes
00:59:49If we're intentional
00:59:50And if we're living our life in that way
00:59:52So that they can
00:59:53But then they have to know him
00:59:55Based off of his words
00:59:57Right?
00:59:57And we can't let our past
00:59:59Be the reason why we're not able to share
01:00:01The truth of who God is
01:00:03And tell people
01:00:03Right?
01:00:04Because there's so many points in our life
01:00:06Where you become saved
01:00:08You start living differently
01:00:09And then there's friends that go
01:00:11Man, you've changed
01:00:12And you go, I hope so
01:00:12And I hope it's evident
01:00:14And I hope that it's so transparent to you
01:00:16That you are begging the question
01:00:18What has happened?
01:00:19Why is everything so different?
01:00:20I don't know if it's the same for every household
01:00:24It's very common for Mexican households
01:00:25Is that we use the oven as storage
01:00:28So all of the cookie pans
01:00:31Pots and pans
01:00:32Things that you think should fit in a cabinet
01:00:34We have always put them in the oven
01:00:36Alright?
01:00:37So growing up
01:00:38If you were ever going to cook anything in the oven
01:00:40You would have to first check
01:00:42What's in the oven
01:00:43Take it out
01:00:44Set it on the counter
01:00:45Put everything else in
01:00:46Alright?
01:00:47Katie and I
01:00:48We've been married for over four years
01:00:49We've never stored anything in the oven
01:00:52I've been out of my parents' house
01:00:54For even longer than that
01:00:55When I was living on my own
01:00:56I never stored anything in the oven
01:00:58Still to this day
01:01:00When I go to do anything in the oven
01:01:02I pull the door down
01:01:03And check to see if there's anything there
01:01:04And I go, nope, still nothing
01:01:06We're good
01:01:07And it's
01:01:08What is that?
01:01:09It's a habit
01:01:09It's something that's been nurtured in me
01:01:11My entire life
01:01:12And the issue is this
01:01:14Is that a lot of us keep opening a door
01:01:16Looking at the past
01:01:17About everything the way that it used to be
01:01:20And then we go, oh, it's still there
01:01:22And then we close it
01:01:24And we expect God's goodness to be restricted
01:01:26Because of everything that was done
01:01:27Despite the fact that he already died for it
01:01:30And I'm saved
01:01:30And then I get to walk in as a new creation
01:01:34So we keep opening this door and looking
01:01:36And we haven't even participated
01:01:37We haven't partaken in anything that we used to
01:01:40We are a new creation
01:01:41And we keep opening it
01:01:42And go, man, I just don't know if God can use me
01:01:45He can
01:01:46Stop opening the door
01:01:47Stop looking for a history
01:01:50That isn't a dictator
01:01:51Or an indication of what your future is going to be
01:01:54Start focusing on what he has established in you
01:01:57Once you have become a new creation
01:02:01So this is what we see
01:02:03And this is what we see from the woman at the well
01:02:05Is that despite the history
01:02:07Despite the wrongdoings
01:02:09Despite whatever she had partaken in previously
01:02:12As soon as she had an encounter with Jesus
01:02:15And as soon as she believed it for herself
01:02:18She had it
01:02:20And then as soon as she had it
01:02:21She couldn't help but tell everybody
01:02:23And they believed, right?
01:02:25Because you hear miracles
01:02:26And you want to see it for yourself
01:02:27But then once you know who Jesus is
01:02:29And once you hear his words
01:02:31And you accept it for yourself
01:02:32Then it's your faith
01:02:33And it's not somebody else's faith
01:02:35And this is what we continue to build on
01:02:38So I want to be like the woman at the well
01:02:40I want to have an encounter with Jesus
01:02:42And leave better than where I started
01:02:44I want to leave well
01:02:46And in the same way
01:02:47The people that I interact with
01:02:49I want them to have an encounter
01:02:50With somebody who knows Jesus' love
01:02:53And freely gives it
01:02:54And I want them to leave well
01:02:56And if I can do that in my community
01:02:59And if I can control these interactions
01:03:01That are mine
01:03:02And I can be intentional about it
01:03:04Then how great is the world going to look around me, right?
01:03:08Because I don't know that I can change the entirety of the world
01:03:11But I can change the world that I live in
01:03:13The people that I interact with
01:03:15The community that I experience
01:03:16Everybody should know who changed my life
01:03:19And why I am the way that I am
01:03:21So tonight I want to give everybody the opportunity
01:03:25Whether you feel like you've been far from God
01:03:27Or whether you would be committing your life to him for the first time
01:03:30This is the greatest gift that the world has ever received
01:03:32And I want to offer it to you tonight
01:03:35And it's very simple
01:03:36The Bible talks about
01:03:37That if you acknowledge God as the Father
01:03:39And Jesus as the Son
01:03:40That he died for your sins
01:03:41That you ask for forgiveness
01:03:42You ask me to be the Lord of your life
01:03:44That that's it
01:03:45That's the only requirement that there is to get into heaven
01:03:48Yes, of course, we follow rules and principles
01:03:50Established in the Bibles
01:03:52So that we can experience heaven here on earth
01:03:54But it's not something that is going to disqualify you, right?
01:03:57Jesus paid that judgment
01:03:59He paid that price
01:04:00So what we're going to do is
01:04:01We're going to say a prayer
01:04:03And we're going to believe it in our heart
01:04:05And we're going to make this declaration
01:04:06And that's it
01:04:08So nobody feels embarrassed
01:04:09If you guys can just do me the biggest favor
01:04:11And bow your heads
01:04:13And before we say the prayer
01:04:16The Bible also talks about
01:04:17That when you acknowledge him before others
01:04:21He will acknowledge you before his Father
01:04:23So this is a time where we can do that together
01:04:26Where I can take this moment
01:04:27Nobody else is looking around
01:04:28It's just between you, God, and me
01:04:30I get to be the one who celebrates the decision
01:04:32And see what that is
01:04:33So right now
01:04:34If you're saying this for the first time
01:04:36Or maybe rededicating this portion of your life back to him
01:04:39If you can just do me the biggest honor
01:04:41And raise your hand
