00:00I usually come in November when I can breathe when I'm outside, but it's great to be here.
00:05Father, thank you for these wonderful people, for the sacrifice, the focus, the effort that
00:12they put in to be here tonight.
00:14I'm asking that you show up, show your presence, show your purpose, show your power to each
00:20and every one.
00:22Thank you for your grace.
00:23Thank you for your goodness.
00:25In Jesus' name, and everybody say amen.
00:28God bless you.
00:29You may be seated.
00:30It's great to be here.
00:31God bless you.
00:33I just want you to know that I believe tonight God is going to give you a reset on your
00:41life.
00:42How many know sometimes you just need, you know, you just need a reset?
00:46Just push the button.
00:47Let's start over.
00:48Let's get back on track.
00:50It's easy to drift from our gift, and life just kind of carries us off into a place of
00:57life where we feel disconnected, and we don't feel we belong, and we kind of lose our way.
01:05And so tonight, I believe I have a prophetic word that while I'm speaking, I believe God
01:09is going to snap the slack, get us back on track, and get us a sense to feel the tension
01:16of what it's like to live a life that matters.
01:19Do you know that everything about you matters?
01:22Everything about you matters.
01:25Every action, every attitude, everything about you matters.
01:30Every tear, every trial, every test, every triumph, everything about your life matters.
01:37And it's not just about now, and it's not just about you.
01:42It's not just personal, but it's generational with eternal consequences and rewards.
01:50I think that's what we need more than anything is a sense that our life does matter.
01:55To be reminded that God thinks about you.
02:00Think about that.
02:02Can I say that again?
02:03Again, God thinks about you.
02:07If God had a computer, he'd have you on the computer screen.
02:11If he had a wallet, your picture would be in that wallet.
02:14God thinks about you.
02:16I know that's hard to comprehend.
02:18It just seems like, well, that sounds so romantic and so idealistic, but it is true.
02:23The God of the universe, the expanding universe, the God that we can't even begin to comprehend,
02:28a God who has observed the lives of billions of people and now is tracking some 8 billion people now,
02:36knows you, thinks about you.
02:38He knows so much about you.
02:40He counted the number of hair on your head last night.
02:45For me, it was a little less than the night before.
02:48I'm making it easy for him.
02:50God thinks about you.
02:52And God thinks good about you.
02:54You're not on his last nerve.
02:56God thinks good about you.
02:59And not only that, God has put much thought into you.
03:04You see, you're not an accident.
03:07You are here at such a time, at such a place, because God, before the foundation of the world,
03:14before the first tick-tock of time, God had already planned and strategized when you would be born,
03:22where you would be born, by whom you would be born through, because you didn't come from your parents.
03:29You came through your parents.
03:32So that, on a Saturday night in Arizona, with the temperature being 203 degrees, or somewhere around there.
03:43I mean, does it feel any worse?
03:45I mean, hot is hot.
03:48That you would have a scent sitting there right now with bills and ills and pressure and anxiety and all
04:00of these things,
04:01just kind of sucking the oxygen out of your life, that God would say to you,
04:07I think about you.
04:08I think good about you.
04:10I put much thought into you.
04:12You didn't pick when, where, by whom.
04:16I did.
04:18To understand that awakens us.
04:21It gives us a sense that our life does matter.
04:25That every time we do the right thing, it matters.
04:28Every time we resist the wrong thing, it matters.
04:32Everything about you matters.
04:35And we can lose our way with that sense that we have a purpose in our life.
04:41It's easy to become lost, where you just kind of lose your way, where you're just kind of going through
04:49the motions without any emotions.
04:51I like the definition of lost.
04:54The definition of lost that I best understood and liked is this.
04:59When your mental map no longer matches your environment.
05:05In other words, we all have a mental map, right?
05:08How do we, where we, how do we get to work, go to school?
05:12We, you know, have you ever found yourself getting in the car and going to work and then you get
05:15to work and you think,
05:16how did I get here?
05:18Because I was not even thinking.
05:20Or about if you're like me, 69 years old, nature calls a couple times during the night.
05:27And without getting, turning the lights on, I can walk from my bedroom to where I need to go, to
05:35go.
05:38And I'm good because I have a mental map.
05:41I know where the bed, I know where the dresser, I know where the door is.
05:45I can get there without turning on the light because my mental map has got it programmed in.
05:50But if I go to bed one night and my wife decides who, she's a designer and this would not
05:55be far-fetched to change everything.
05:58And then I would get up in the middle of the night and as I'm trying to go where I
06:02need to go, I would stumble.
06:04I would hit my toes against the table and I would be so confused and I'd be lost because my
06:09mental map no longer matches my environment.
06:14This is what happens when people get lost in hiking or when there's an accident on an airplane and they're
06:18stuck out in the wilderness.
06:20They can no longer figure out where they are because their map, it's like getting a map of Chicago and
06:28trying to find your way in Phoenix.
06:34You just, you might find a few things that make sense, but after a while you realize this is not
06:39right.
06:41Tonight may God, tonight may heaven whisper in your heart.
06:46May tonight the Holy Spirit ignite something fresh inside you that allows you to feel the tension of life in
06:55a good way that says it all counts.
06:59Everything matters.
07:00Everything about me matters.
07:02Every test, every trial, every triumph, every tear.
07:06It's not just personal, but generational with eternal rewards.
07:15And that's my message.
07:16We can go home now.
07:18Ah, but let me break it down just a little bit.
07:21Let me take you to a scripture that truly is the reset button that you often should read and let
07:28it really get you on track for the value and purpose of your life.
07:33We're talking today about a legacy-driven life.
07:38Living a life that's not just personal, but generational with eternal rewards.
07:44Acts, the 17th chapter, verse 26 and verse 27 gives us these words.
07:50And God, he is the God, and God had made from one blood.
07:55Now let me just break that down for a moment.
07:57One blood.
07:58God, it is a fact that in the one cell that you and I came from, you can extend that
08:07cell into a DNA strand that's about six feet long.
08:12And yet if you bundle it up, you can get all of the human race from Adam to now in
08:18the size of three aspirin tablets.
08:20So from that one cell, that one blood, God was able to do what?
08:25He determined every nation of men where they would dwell on the face of the earth.
08:31And he has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.
08:40So that they should seek the Lord and hope that they might grope for him and find him, though he's
08:46not far from any of us.
08:49Let me break that down for you.
08:50God predetermined before time began.
08:54God predetermined when you would be born, where you would be born, by whom you would be born through.
09:04All of that with the idea that God thinks of you, God thinks good of you, God put much thought
09:09into you so that you would tonight on a Saturday night,
09:12either for the first time or for a reset, say, my life matters.
09:18What am I doing here?
09:20If God went through all of that trouble, I need to at least know the why.
09:26And you know that question is not a complicated question, and it's not so complicated to discover.
09:33The Bible says grope for it, hope for it, reach for it.
09:38Don't let life trick you out of getting a hold of your purpose and living and feeling the tension of
09:43that purpose every day.
09:44Because it's not far from any of us.
09:48I like what Paul told Timothy.
09:51Paul told Timothy.
09:52He said, I remember your grandmother.
09:57I remember the genuine faith that is in you, which first dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and in your mother,
10:06Eunice.
10:06And I am persuaded is also in you.
10:09This is so great, because this is what Paul's saying.
10:13He's trying to help you understand.
10:14You just didn't land on this planet.
10:16There was a strategy for who you are, where you are.
10:20Your destiny actually is connected to your history.
10:25No mistakes.
10:26Nothing wrong here.
10:28God orchestrated even the very DNA of which you have inside of you now.
10:34And so when Paul looks at Timothy, he says, oh man, I know who you are, because I know your
10:42mama, and I know your grandmother.
10:44And I'm convinced that what they started, what they lived, what they did, in every deed, there is a seed
10:50that has been transferred into your life.
10:53I know the stuff you're made of.
10:57And then he goes on and he says this in verse 9, he says, or verse 6, he said, therefore
11:02I remind you to stir up the gift, stir up this purpose, which is in you through the laying on
11:07of my hands.
11:08And then he goes on and says, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a power
11:15and a love, and everybody say a sound mind.
11:18And then I love this verse, verse 9.
11:20I love this.
11:22Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.
11:28Before you were born, I'm sorry, I got ahead of myself.
11:31Go to verse 9 of Timothy.
11:34Yeah, you're in Jeremiah.
11:35All right, I got ahead of myself.
11:37Well, Paul told Timothy this.
11:39I'll just quote it to you.
11:40Paul said this to Timothy.
11:42He said, before the foundation of the world, before time began,
11:48before the first tick-tock, God had already placed the calling of God into Timothy's life.
11:56And when he came into the world, he was just coming into the rhythm and the time and the purpose
12:01of his life.
12:02Doesn't that make you feel important?
12:03Because that's you too.
12:05Look what Jeremiah said.
12:06The Bible says of Jeremiah, the Lord says, before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.
12:14You, hey, just a second now.
12:16That just kind of blows my mind.
12:19Can I read that again?
12:21And can that just settle in your spirit?
12:23Before, God says, you were formed in the womb of your mother.
12:28I knew you.
12:29You were born and I sanctified you.
12:32And I ordained you as a prophet to the nations.
12:36On a Saturday night, you and I, brothers and sisters, are here saying to our life,
12:44God, thank you for thinking of me.
12:46Thank you that you think good of me.
12:49Thank you that you put so much thought into me.
12:52And that you knew me before time began.
12:56And here I am, oh God.
12:57Let me get a reset.
13:00Let me have a new, fresh start.
13:02Let me feel the tension of a life that matters.
13:07That everything I do and everything I go through is not a waste.
13:11That in fact, in every deed, there is a seed.
13:14It's not just personal, but generational with eternal rewards.
13:20Is anybody getting this in your spirit today?
13:25And so when we come to understand that, it awakens us to a life of purpose.
13:31It awakens us to something that God knew.
13:34He knows us.
13:35He understands us.
13:36I love the story of Michelangelo tells, is told.
13:40That legend has it that Michelangelo in 1503, I believe,
13:46he was commissioned to take a six-ton marble stone, six tons, 12,000 pounds.
13:53And with primitive tools based on our day, no computers, no sophisticated means of doing it,
14:00he chiseled that six-ton hunk of marble into a glorious statue of King David,
14:08of whom millions upon millions have seen in Italy.
14:12Two and a half years he worked on it with very little sleep.
14:17And legend has it that when they asked, how did you perform such an outrageous feat?
14:23How were you able to do this?
14:25And Michelangelo said these words, I had a vision of King David in my mind,
14:31and I just removed everything that wasn't him.
14:35And can I tell you that God thinks about you?
14:39God thinks good about you.
14:41God put much thought into you, that God formed you and determined, predetermined.
14:47You didn't pick it.
14:48He did when you would be born, where you would be born, by whom you would be born.
14:52So you would match your destiny with your history,
14:55so that you could become what he saw in you before you were in your mother's womb.
15:04I know sometimes in Christianity we send messages.
15:08I've been in the ministry for 52 years.
15:11I've been going to church at least three or four times a week for nearly 70 years.
15:16And sometimes we send mixed messages as if God wants to change us,
15:23as if God is always working on us to say,
15:25you're not what you need to be.
15:27I'm going to fix you.
15:28I'm going to make you better.
15:29You've got to get better.
15:30And God's always working on us.
15:32I don't think that's the case at all.
15:33I think that God knew us before time began.
15:37God knew us before we were in our mother's womb.
15:39And what is he doing now?
15:40He's chiseling away everything that's really not you.
15:44The hurt that you picked up along life.
15:47The pain that you've experienced through life.
15:49The things that people told you you were that you weren't.
15:52And now all the Holy Spirit is doing is just chisel, chisel, chisel, chisel, chisel, chisel.
15:59Trying to get you back to who you were before you ever came into this earth.
16:04Is anybody hearing what I'm saying?
16:06You matter.
16:07Everything about you matters.
16:12And this ought to awaken us to a life that gives us a sense that we have purpose.
16:21And not just a purpose.
16:23Because legacy is purpose all grown up.
16:29Because dreams and purpose are good.
16:32But until they are connected to the next generation.
16:37Until they are honored by the past generation.
16:41Until one can red dot themselves on the map of life.
16:46Where am I?
16:48Where do I need to go?
16:49First red dot yourself on the map.
16:52You know what I'm talking about, right?
16:53You know when you go to Disneyland or when you go to a big, like a mall.
16:57There's this map of everything.
16:59Oh wow, Nordstrom's over there.
17:01Oh, Macy's over there.
17:02Oh, oh, well that doesn't help if you don't see the red dot that says you are here.
17:09And tonight I'm saying you are here.
17:13I don't care what you feel, what you've been going through.
17:16I'm here to red dot you today.
17:19You matter.
17:20God thinks about you.
17:22God thinks good about you.
17:24God put much good thought into you.
17:27And everything about you matters.
17:29And even the pain and the hurt and the sorrow that you've been through.
17:33God will redeem that.
17:35And turn your harm into harmony.
17:40Turn your mess into a message.
17:44Make you the sage of that message.
17:47To tell a story nobody else will ever be able to tell.
17:51Because God made you uniquely you.
17:54That's why you don't have to compete with anybody.
17:57You don't have to look like anybody.
17:59You don't have to drive the cars that other people drive.
18:01You don't need to have the, you don't need to compare.
18:04In fact, the only person you're comparing, you need to compare yourself with is the person you were yesterday.
18:09And today just say I'm going to be a little bit better.
18:12That's all.
18:13Otherwise, I'm not in competition with anybody.
18:17No.
18:18And I'm not afraid that my destiny will slip by.
18:23Because I want to tell you something.
18:25The destiny that God had for you before time began is going nowhere without you.
18:33And if you get delayed.
18:34And if you get discouraged.
18:36And if you get distracted.
18:38That train called your destiny is going to be waiting for you.
18:43And when you get over your big bad self.
18:45And when you can get over the pain and the hurt.
18:48And you can get over the confusion and the weariness and the tiredness.
18:51All aboard.
18:52Your destiny is going nowhere without you.
18:56I think we ought to give God a little bit of praise today.
18:58I'm not making this stuff up.
18:59I'm preaching the word.
19:01The eternal word of God to you.
19:04And see the key is for you.
19:06And this is one of the things that our own culture really works against our purpose in our legacy driven
19:13life.
19:14It's because our culture.
19:16It glorifies independence.
19:19It magnifies isolation.
19:24It makes much to do about our individualism.
19:30And in doing so.
19:32We actually are disconnecting ourselves from our purpose.
19:36When we fail to recognize the strategic plan God had to get us right where we are.
19:43And so it's easy.
19:45It's very easy for teenagers to resist their parents.
19:49And to rebel.
19:50It becomes very easy for the generations to separate from one another.
19:55As if somehow we have been segregated.
19:58Let me tell you something.
20:00As bad as racism is.
20:02As bad as sexism is.
20:04Let me tell you the worst problem our country and culture is facing.
20:08It's called ageism.
20:11It is the separation of the generations.
20:14It's putting the children over here.
20:16The young people over there.
20:18It's having the children.
20:19It's having young people have their own thing over here.
20:22Children have their thing over here.
20:24The older people retire and move away from their grandkids.
20:27It's separating the ages.
20:29And in doing so.
20:30You are stepping out of the flow.
20:32You're stepping out of the rhythm.
20:34You're stepping out of the strategy that God made for you.
20:39When you got 16 years old.
20:41When you have teenagers getting advice from other teenagers.
20:46Your 16 year old friend cannot help you pick your boyfriend.
20:50They don't know better.
20:54It's those old fogies.
20:56Your parents that have a little sense.
21:00But we found ourselves disconnected.
21:02Even the church.
21:04I'm challenging pastors.
21:05I oversee and work with hundreds of churches.
21:08And I'm telling them.
21:09I'm saying we need to stop segregating our children and our young people.
21:13And our young adults.
21:14Our college students and our older folks.
21:17Already culture is catching on to this.
21:20How big of a mistake it was.
21:21For people to go away and go to a resort town.
21:24And get away from their children and their grandchildren.
21:27And live among themselves.
21:28We're discovering they're not healthier.
21:30They're not happy.
21:31Meanwhile the children are isolated.
21:33And feel lonely and disconnected.
21:36In Indonesia.
21:37They're already putting senior citizen homes.
21:39In the same complex of daycare centers for children.
21:43So that they can interact.
21:44So children can see older people.
21:46How they behave.
21:47If they grunt.
21:50They shall grunt.
21:54This is all part.
21:56Because your life is an accumulation of two things.
22:02One.
22:03Negative.
22:04Iniquity.
22:06Two.
22:07Positive.
22:08Equity.
22:10So the economy of a legacy is made up of two forces at work in your life.
22:16One is iniquity.
22:18What is iniquity?
22:18The Bible explains iniquity as the hereditary weaknesses that get passed down.
22:22From one generation to the next.
22:25So every weakness that we all have.
22:27That we don't tackle.
22:29That we don't try to resist.
22:30That we don't try to stop.
22:32That we don't try to slow it down.
22:34But we let that iniquity go unchecked and challenged.
22:37That gets transferred to our children.
22:39You see the blood.
22:41That blood.
22:41That one blood.
22:42That we talked about in Acts 17.
22:44That blood is so powerful.
22:46It has 400 ingredients.
22:47That we still can't figure out what to do.
22:50We can almost assimilate.
22:52We can almost make up and reproduce anything.
22:55But we can't come close to figuring out.
22:57What is in that?
22:59We know there's 400 ingredients in that blood.
23:01But that blood is magic.
23:03That blood is powerful.
23:05That blood tracks.
23:07Traces.
23:08And transfers.
23:10Every deed.
23:11From one generation to the next.
23:14In a way that we can't even comprehend.
23:16In 1992.
23:17The government did an experiment.
23:19On servicemen.
23:20Where they scraped their tongues.
23:22And centrifused their blood cells.
23:24And their cheeks rather.
23:25Into a tube.
23:26And hooked it up to a polygraph machine.
23:28And then they put them in another room.
23:30Where they showed them violent movies.
23:32And in the next room.
23:34Here they are watching these violent movies.
23:36And in this next room.
23:37The centrifuges of the blood.
23:40From their cheek.
23:41In the tube.
23:42On the polygraph machine.
23:42Was registering their emotions.
23:46That worked up to.
23:4850 miles.
23:50And two days removed.
23:52Two days after the blood had been taken from them.
23:5550 miles apart.
23:57That blood was still tracking.
24:00Tracing.
24:01And could very possibly.
24:03Transfer the deeds that they were involved in.
24:06That's the miracle.
24:08That's the power of genes.
24:10That's the power of generations.
24:13That's the power of God saying.
24:16From one blood.
24:17I made all men to dwell on the face of the earth.
24:21And I determined and predetermined.
24:23When.
24:23Where.
24:24By whom.
24:25So that they could find their purpose.
24:28You see.
24:29Because purpose is not something that you find.
24:33It's something that you unveil.
24:36It's already there.
24:37I know that may be offensive to some.
24:39To think that you don't get to pick whatever you want to do in life.
24:43I know that the American dream is.
24:45Get a category.
24:47A category.
24:48A category.
24:49A catalog.
24:50It was coming.
24:52And just go through it.
24:54What's your dream?
24:55What do you want to dream?
24:57Oh I just want to be.
24:59Let me tell you something.
25:00There's a difference between a dream and a scheme.
25:04And I can tell you with one question.
25:06How to determine whether or not you're chasing a scheme.
25:09Or chasing a dream.
25:10Are you ready for it?
25:10You want to write it down?
25:12Or are you just good with your memory?
25:13I bet you're good with your memory.
25:16Here's the difference between a scheme and a dream.
25:19Ask yourself.
25:20If it comes true.
25:22Who benefits the most?
25:24Others are just you.
25:30Because in fact.
25:32In reality.
25:32When you step into the dimension of purpose that God has for you.
25:36You will be linking your destiny with your history.
25:39And you will be tracking, tracing, and transferring deeds that have been accumulated from one generation to the next.
25:47They don't go to your grave.
25:49They get tracked and traced and transferred to the next generation.
25:52And whether it's by adoption or by bloodline.
25:55It's all through covenant.
25:56It gets transferred.
25:58And your deeds carry a seed.
26:01A seed that will go on generation after generation.
26:06And I love what the Bible says.
26:08Jesus said that your secrets will be shouted from the rooftop.
26:12Now, when you first read that, you're like, God's a tattletale.
26:19But that's not what he's saying.
26:21What God is saying is the very secrets of your heart are so important.
26:26Everything about you matters.
26:28It's so important that if you think it, you set in motion an action, an attitude that gets transferred into
26:36a deed.
26:36And that deed gets transferred into a seed.
26:39And the scripture says, your secrets will be shouted from the rooftop.
26:45What it means is, is in every deed, there is a seed.
26:50Now, that may intimidate you.
26:52But if you have the grace of God upon your life, you know that God covers your sins.
26:57And he covers your iniquity.
27:01And that God sees the intent of your heart.
27:05And the essence and the incense of your efforts.
27:09And he takes those and he accumulates it.
27:12Until every generation needs to know how to go to the generational bank of history.
27:18Of their bloodline.
27:19And tap it.
27:21Because it awaits for you to fulfill your destiny.
27:27Can you imagine if I told you tonight that you have a hundred million dollars in a bank account?
27:34And I had the account number.
27:35Please come up and see me after church.
27:40Go ahead.
27:41Smile.
27:42That sounded good.
27:44But can I tell you, you've got more than a hundred million dollars in the bank.
27:48You've got a genetic line of deeds that have been accumulating.
27:52That God is ready to tip towards you so you can take your seed to the next level.
27:57To the next generation.
27:58This is why I ask this question to everyone that I talk to and that I minister to about their
28:04legacy-driven life.
28:05I ask them one question, three questions.
28:08One is, what makes you tick?
28:10What do you love doing?
28:11Because the Bible says he gives you the desires of your heart.
28:15In other words, what you desire to do, God gave you that desire.
28:20What you desire, God put in your heart to desire.
28:24So that when you desire what he put in you to desire, he then gives you the desires of the
28:31desires that he desired you to desire.
28:34Did you get that?
28:35Let me say that again.
28:37Listen, God gives you the desires of your heart so you'll desire the desires that he gave you so that
28:46when you desire the desires that he gave you, he'll give you the desires of your heart.
28:51Come on, don't make me repeat that again.
28:55And you've got to listen to your bloodline.
28:58You've got to listen to the saints.
29:01You've got to listen to your forefathers because they're speaking.
29:05The blood is speaking to you, giving you hints.
29:09So you ask yourself, what makes me tick?
29:11What do I like doing?
29:13If I won a million dollars and I didn't have to go to work, what would I do?
29:17Well, after you go to Hawaii and after you buy the 6K television and the latest car, after a while
29:24you get bored and you say, well, I could do whatever I want.
29:26What is it?
29:26What is it?
29:27What do I want to do?
29:27What do I want to do?
29:28What do I want to do?
29:30Listen to your heart because your heart will tell you.
29:32It's your GPS system.
29:34It will tell you, this is what you were made to do.
29:36Here's the second question that matches that.
29:39What makes you ticked?
29:41What makes you mad?
29:43What hurt have you experienced in life that just can't go away?
29:47You've tried therapy.
29:49You've tried speaking in tongues.
29:50You've had a gallon of oil poured upon you.
29:53You've fallen out so much you've got a bump in the back of your head.
29:56You've been prophesied over until you can't even remember the last one.
30:02What makes you tick because there are some pain that will not go away?
30:06That pain is talking to you.
30:08That pain is saying to you, you are the solution to this.
30:11You are going to be the one that stops that pain for other people.
30:15You see, God can give you a miracle or he can give you a map.
30:18He can give you a miracle and make all your pain go away.
30:22Or he can help you draw a map so you can help other people.
30:25Hey, this is how I got out free from drugs.
30:28This is how I overcame depression.
30:30This is how I overcame my mess.
30:32This is how I got there.
30:34Instead of just you getting instantly a miracle, you now have a map to help many.
30:39Are you hearing me today?
30:40You matter.
30:42Everything about you matters.
30:44What makes you tick?
30:45What makes you ticked?
30:47Where do you hurt?
30:48Where's your pain?
30:49Listen to it because it's telling you.
30:52It stops with you.
30:54It may have run in your family, but it's run into you and it's not going any farther than here.
31:00And lastly, ask yourself what trickled down anointing and favors in my bloodline that I have access to that I
31:07can draw from.
31:08That's why I always ask young people.
31:10Tell me about your parents.
31:12Tell me about your grandparents.
31:14Tell me about what you dream of doing and see if there's any dots that connect.
31:19Because your history is giving you hints of your destiny.
31:26Wow.
31:27Are you hearing me?
31:28I don't know where my clock is.
31:29Like when my time is.
31:30Oh, I see.
31:31My time is up.
31:32No, I got five minutes and 49 seconds.
31:35Oh, Lord, help me.
31:36I'm on point one.
31:41Oh, God.
31:44Surrender, it's so beautiful to have you and your daughter and your husband, Jeff.
31:50I wrote a book years ago, 15 years ago, Legacy Now.
31:54It was a bestseller in my family.
32:01And we sold out of them.
32:04You can buy them for $3 on eBay.
32:05If you want one tonight, you can get it.
32:08And Brent, your brother, helped me write it.
32:10And I tell the story about your dad and your mom and you.
32:14Sitting on the front row is really a poster picture of how God takes the deeds of one generation
32:25and transfers it into the seeds of another.
32:28And what's so beautiful is so many things that you and your father we talked about doing.
32:33You all are doing it.
32:36My dad never had a church of more than 500 people.
32:39And the last letter he ever wrote us, he said,
32:42It's Easter Sunday.
32:44And I'm sitting here thinking about my sons.
32:47Steve would have ministered to about 30,000 people that weekend through his Passion Play.
32:52My sister Sheila and Kevin would have ministered to 10,000 people in their church in Tacoma.
32:58And I had preached to some 16,000 people that weekend at Lakewood Church.
33:04My dad was saying,
33:06I never got to do it.
33:07But I kept running the race.
33:10I kept living my life like everything about me mattered.
33:14You see, every lap you run with intensity and integrity is one last lap they'll have to run.
33:22And everything matters, friends.
33:25Everything matters.
33:28Let me close.
33:29And I have three closings.
33:30This will be my first.
33:34I'm going to take you to a scripture that will blow your mind.
33:37I think this is one of the most powerful truths.
33:40And don't start playing yet.
33:42Don't start playing yet.
33:43Just stay right there because that'll get me going longer actually.
33:48No, you're okay, Pastor.
33:49Pastor, I love you.
33:50Let me go here real quick with this.
33:52This powerful truth.
33:53It's going to talk about a subject that you might get nervous about.
33:56Don't get nervous about it.
33:57It's really a powerful subject.
33:58But more than that, I want to show you a principle that changed your life.
34:01Go with me to Hebrews, the seventh chapter.
34:06And it says this.
34:07Now, consider how great this man was to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of his spoils.
34:13Now, to bring you up to speed, this is Abraham who is the father of the faith.
34:17This is Abraham, the beginning of a threefold generation that changed the world.
34:23And this is Abraham before there was a law.
34:26Go back.
34:26I'm sorry, real quick.
34:27Let me get us caught up.
34:28So before there was even a law, there wasn't even a law.
34:31I don't even know what motivated Abraham to give a tenth of his spoils.
34:35Because there had been no law.
34:37Nothing discussed.
34:38It must have been his internal conscience that kind of gave him that sense that he needed to do that.
34:43So now go on to the next scripture.
34:45Watch what it says.
34:46And indeed, those who are sons of Levi, that's the priesthood tribe, who received the priesthood have a commandment to
34:52receive tithe from the people according to the law.
34:55That is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham.
34:59So now, those of you that know your Bible history, you know what I'm doing.
35:02But if you don't, let me get you caught up.
35:04So Abraham was the father of the faith.
35:06He had Isaac.
35:07Isaac had two sons.
35:08One of them was...
35:11So Abraham had Isaac.
35:13Isaac had Jacob.
35:15And Jacob had 12 sons.
35:18And...
35:19Did I get it right?
35:20Am I getting it right?
35:22So I'm trying to get everybody caught up here.
35:24And of those 12 sons, the Levites were the priest.
35:27And they were the ones that served the people in the ministry.
35:29And so they were commanded to receive the tithe from the people.
35:34Even though they come from the loins of Abraham.
35:36That will come back up in just a moment.
35:38Now, next verse.
35:38And that he whose genealogy is not derived from them, that's Melchizedek, who is a type of Christ, received tithe
35:48from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.
35:52Next verse.
35:54Now, beyond all contradiction, the lesser is blessed by the better.
35:59Here he's just saying, you need your money.
36:01You need your actions.
36:03You need your life.
36:03You need to live your life in such a way that you have somebody and something in your life that
36:08you honor greater than yourself.
36:10That's bigger than yourself so that, in fact, it can bless you because you cannot bless yourself.
36:16Next verse.
36:17Here, mortal men receive tithe.
36:21But there, he receives them of whom it is written that he lives.
36:26I'm going to come back to that.
36:27But next verse now.
36:28Watch this.
36:29Even Levi.
36:31Now, watch this.
36:32Who's Levi?
36:33Abraham.
36:34Abraham had Isaac.
36:36Isaac had Jacob.
36:37Jacob had 12 children.
36:39One of them was Levi.
36:41So Levi was the grandson of Abraham.
36:44So watch.
36:45So even the grandson who received tithe paid tithe through Abraham, so to speak.
36:55Next verse.
36:57For he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
37:03O-M-G.
37:08Watch.
37:10In every deed there is a seed.
37:13When Abraham paid tithe, Isaac was in line for a blessing.
37:21Jacob was in line for a blessing.
37:24Levi was born having paid tithe for three generations, though he was still in the loins of Abraham.
37:32Why?
37:32Because in every deed there is a seed.
37:34Everything you do matters.
37:36Every lap you take with intensity and integrity matters.
37:40Every time you do the right thing, resist temptation.
37:43Resist the cause, the desire to give in, to give up.
37:47Every time you do the right thing, it's not just personal, but it's generational.
37:51With eternal rewards and consequences.
37:56Every time Abraham tithed, he was laying up a blessing for his grandson.
38:03Like me, my father tithed.
38:07His mother tithed.
38:08By the time I came in, I had been tithing for a hundred years.
38:15You see, we're talking about tithe, but we're talking about everything now, see?
38:21This is why you don't get discouraged.
38:24This is why you keep being faithful.
38:26This is why you keep doing the right things.
38:29This is why you keep doing right.
38:31You don't get wearing well doing.
38:33You keep doing everything because in every deed there is a seed.
38:36And when you feel like you want to walk out of your marriage, just tell yourself, is it
38:39really worth it?
38:40Is it really worth it?
38:41Am I really going to get the relief?
38:43Am I going to get the happiness I want in 10 years and 20 and 30?
38:47Am I really thinking through?
38:49Am I really thinking about a scheme or a dream?
38:51Am I getting a legacy mindset that tells me I can get through this hard time?
38:57I can get through this tough time because it's not just personal.
39:01It's generational with eternal rewards and consequences.
39:06Somebody give God a little praise here right now.
39:08You get what I'm saying.
39:10And while we're on it, can I have that apple?
39:13Let me just tell you something.
39:15Let me just encourage you about connecting with God with your time and your talent
39:21and your treasure.
39:23Several years ago, I was eating an apple.
39:26And while I was eating the apple, I was going to do it right here live here today.
39:29But I practiced already.
39:30It takes too long.
39:32And I'm already towards the end of my time.
39:35But I was eating an apple one day and I heard the Holy Spirit, God, just interact with me.
39:40And he's always talking.
39:42We just don't know how to listen.
39:43And I heard God say to me, you like this apple?
39:46I said, yeah.
39:48He said, good.
39:49I made this apple for you.
39:51I said, all right.
39:53I took another bite.
39:54He said, you enjoying it?
39:56I said, well, actually, I am.
39:59He said, good.
40:00I thought about when I made it, the texture, the skin, the taste, all of the ingredients in that apple.
40:09I designed it in a way that when you would bite it and eat it, you would enjoy it.
40:14And I was raised in a very guilt-driven, condemnation religion.
40:19Oh, my goodness.
40:21We had long hair, long dresses, and long faces.
40:24I mean, we didn't smoke.
40:25We didn't chew.
40:26There was nothing we could do.
40:29And I felt like God was a party pooper.
40:31I felt like that God.
40:33I remember when they told me when I was a kid, you know, missionaries would preach to us.
40:37And they'd tell, you teenagers need to come down here and give your life to Jesus.
40:40And I thought, no way, Jose.
40:43Because that missionary wife, I remember, I could hear him now.
40:46You know, we were really happy.
40:47We had a nice home and white picket fence.
40:50And our kids went to the school right down.
40:52And then God called us as missionaries.
40:55I'm like, yeah, that's God, all right.
40:57So, no, I didn't trust God.
40:59And so, for God to say that he wanted me to enjoy this apple, it's like, wow, God, you really
41:05like me.
41:05You really do want me to do that.
41:07And then as I got into the apple more, as I got to the core of it, there were seeds
41:13in there.
41:13And his tone changed.
41:15And he said, now, Phil, you don't eat the seed.
41:20Because the seed, I'll put in there to make sure you'll never run out of apples the rest of your
41:24life.
41:26So, now, don't eat that seed.
41:27You'll get sick, actually.
41:29So, Phil, here's what you do.
41:30Remember I said in my word, I give seed to the sower?
41:34Everything I give to people, there's a seed in everything I give them.
41:38And they're not to eat that seed because it doesn't do them any good.
41:42And you can't give that seed to Nordstrom's because all they can do is put it in their ledger book.
41:47But they can do nothing with that.
41:49They can't grow it.
41:50You've got to put that seed back from where it came from.
41:52And God said, in every dollar I give you, there's a seed in it.
41:57And if you'll put that seed back from where you believe it came from into God and his kingdom, you'll
42:03never lack.
42:04In fact, the Bible says God will open up the windows of heaven and you won't be able to contain
42:09it in one generation.
42:10It will take Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Levi to be able to take and benefit from the seed that you
42:22sowed.
42:23You recognize there's a seed in every dollar God gives you.
42:29Don't eat it.
42:29Don't give it away.
42:30Don't squander it.
42:31And for sure don't think that you would squander that seed so that the next generation would not see an
42:39abundance of apples.
42:41Oh, friend, hear me today.
42:43Everything about you matters.
42:46Stay faithful.
42:47Stay focused.
42:50Stay fervent.
42:57Stay focused.
43:00And you may not even be a preacher.
43:13You may be Edward Kindle, a Sunday school teacher
43:18that won a young man by the name of D.L. Moody to the Lord.
43:24And then he won somebody, and he won somebody.
43:27And then Billy Graham came to Christ,
43:30and millions came into salvation.
43:33Your life matters.
43:35I close with this story.
43:38150 years ago, a woman was sent from Norway.
43:41She was actually not a woman.
43:43She was a young lady, 17 years old.
43:45Here, honey, go to America.
43:47There's hope there.
43:48There's a future there.
43:49There's no future here.
43:50She took her money as far as she could
43:52and landed her on a train in Chicago.
43:55She got off the train in Chicago.
43:57She saw a light on a home.
43:58She walked over to the home, said,
43:59Sir, please, may I stay here tonight?
44:01I have no place to go.
44:02They brought her into the home.
44:04Little did she know that was a home
44:06that took in unwed mothers
44:07and took care of babies
44:09that were dropped off at the porch
44:10and took care of mothers.
44:12It was the Flounders' home there in Chicago.
44:16She began to work for them.
44:18She was raised by them.
44:19They loved her.
44:20They cared for her.
44:21They were very wealthy,
44:22and they put her through college,
44:23and this young lady became very educated
44:26and ultimately found her husband,
44:28and they moved to Wisconsin.
44:29And in Wisconsin, they had many children,
44:3211 children.
44:36And one of those children was my mother.
44:40And my mother married my father, Frank Muncy,
44:42and my dad wanted to start a church
44:44in Chicago, Illinois,
44:45but the politics of the denomination
44:47he was a part of wouldn't let him,
44:49so he had to go over to the next state in Indiana.
44:52And right on the border of Chicago,
44:54on Indiana side, he started a church.
44:56But he loved Chicago,
44:58always did things,
45:00supported all the churches in Chicago,
45:02took missionaries to buy them clothes.
45:04Then my brother Steve took over my dad's church,
45:06and he loved Chicago,
45:08and he loved Chicago.
45:09And then my brother Steve
45:10had a son named Kent Muncy,
45:12and Kent Muncy grew up,
45:13and Kent Muncy had a call on his life,
45:16and he decided that God called him
45:17to go to Chicago,
45:18so he went to Chicago,
45:20and he started a church,
45:22and he was very successful,
45:23great fruit, great ministry.
45:26So much so,
45:26that he was able to buy
45:28an acre of ground
45:30in downtown Chicago,
45:32right next to the United Center
45:34where the Bulls play.
45:35There hasn't been a brand new church
45:37built in Chicago in over 75 years,
45:40and he's going to build one.
45:41He's got the cash, the plans,
45:43it's all there and made.
45:44And my mother was making note
45:46of the beautiful miracle
45:48of this piece of property
45:49that Kent bought to build the church,
45:52and he's already starting to build.
45:53And my mother had been doing
45:55a research of her bloodline,
45:57and lo and behold,
45:59the land that Kent bought
46:01was the same property
46:03his great-grandmother walked
46:06as a 17-year-old Norway girl
46:08looking for,
46:09and began to serve
46:10in the ministry of that house.
46:13And no doubt she prayed,
46:14no doubt she walked that dirt,
46:16no wonder,
46:17no doubt she believed
46:19that God could do something big
46:20with her life.
46:21Maybe no one will know her name,
46:23but today there's been many people
46:26that will know
46:26that in every deed there is a seed.
46:29Everything about you matters.
46:31It's not just personal,
46:33but generational
46:34with eternal rewards.
46:43Have you given up on your dreams?
46:45Have you given up on
46:49a purpose-filled life?
46:51Have you compromised your dreams?
46:53Have you compromised your purpose?
46:56Have you felt like it maybe
46:57doesn't really matter?
46:59Have you compromised your morals?
47:02And now your morale is weak and waning?
47:05Are you going through the motions
47:07without any real emotions?
47:10Have you checked out today?
47:16Let the Holy Spirit press the reset button.
47:19You got more in you.
47:21One of the most tragic verses in the Bible
47:24is when the prophet was buried,
47:26Elisha was buried.
47:28The Bible says that there came a time
47:31when in haste they took a soldier
47:34and put a soldier on top of that
47:37Elisha's grave.
47:39And when that dead soldier's bone
47:41touched the prophet,
47:43he immediately came to life.
47:45And everybody shouts about that.
47:47But you know what I say?
47:49The prophet died
47:50with one more miracle in him.
47:53And I say to you today,
47:55don't let your life in.
47:56Don't let your dreams in.
47:57Don't give up now.
47:58I'm too old.
48:00You're never too old
48:01to become what God called you to be.
48:04You say, but I've had to.
48:06Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no.
48:08Your destiny is going nowhere without you.
48:12When my mother and father retired,
48:15they went to Bulgaria.
48:16Old school.
48:17They got a globe.
48:18Teenagers Google that.
48:21They pointed their finger
48:22and wherever it stopped,
48:23they said that's where God's going to take us.
48:24We're going to teach English
48:25using Christian curriculum.
48:26It stopped in Sofia, Bulgaria.
48:29And they went there,
48:29never knew the language,
48:30never knew anybody.
48:31And when he was supposed to retire,
48:33he started that school
48:34in the former headquarters
48:35of the Communist Party
48:36that had just been shut down.
48:39Now years later,
48:40they're lawyers,
48:41they're Christians,
48:42they're all around the world.
48:43It's never too late
48:44to go for your dream.
48:45Not if God,
48:47not if God determined
48:49when you would be born,
48:50where you would be born,
48:52by whom you would be born.
48:53And all he wants you to do
48:54is grope,
48:55not let life slip by
48:57without you saying,
48:58I have a legacy.
48:59I have a purpose.
49:01Or maybe you're here today
49:03and you don't know
49:04the Lord Jesus Christ.
49:05You're dealing with
49:08iniquity,
49:09sins,
49:10and hurts.
49:11It feels like maybe
49:14generations of sin
49:15have caught up with you
49:17and you're the victim of it.
49:20and you feel like
49:21you can't carry the load
49:23of your DNA.
49:25But can I tell you
49:26that Jesus died on the cross?
49:28He shed his blood
49:29so that by confessing Christ
49:31as your Lord and Savior,
49:32you get his blood,
49:34you get into his DNA.
49:36And do you know what God will do?
49:37He'll take all of your iniquities.
49:40And the Bible says
49:41he was wounded for our iniquities.
49:43He was bruised for our iniquities.
49:45And he'll take those iniquities
49:47and not only will he cover them
49:48and forgive them,
49:49but he'll actually take
49:51those very iniquities
49:52and transfer them
49:53into the equity column
49:55so that what was meant for harm
49:57will become harmony.
49:58And what was meant for pain
50:00will become someone's gain.
50:02You're a mess.
50:03Now your message.
50:04You are the sage
50:05with purpose and meaning.
50:08Would you just bow your head
50:10and close your eyes
50:11and meditate
50:11on this very incredible moment
50:13because no one else
50:15is going to do this to you
50:18and give you this opportunity
50:20in life
50:21only in a moment like this
50:23at church
50:25when the Holy Spirit is here
50:28that you can stop the madness
50:30and stop the pain
50:31and stop the confusion
50:33and can say,
50:34Jesus,
50:36I surrender to you.
50:38Give me my life back.
50:40Give me my purpose back.
50:41Give me my first love back.
50:43Give me my zeal back.
50:45Give me back my faithfulness,
50:49my focus,
50:50my fervency.
50:51Give me my first love back.
50:53I need a savior.
50:56I got too much pain.
50:58I got too much sin.
50:59I got too much,
51:00too much.
51:01I need a fresh start.
51:04What's that they say?
51:07Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
51:09and old things will pass away
51:10and all things become new.
51:12That's me, preacher.
51:13I need a new beginning.
51:16If that's you today,
51:18or maybe you've drifted
51:20and you need a fresh start,
51:23let the Holy Spirit
51:24just come upon you right now.
51:26Settle on you right now.
51:28And now may the God
51:30who saw you
51:31before you were
51:32in your mother's womb,
51:34who saw you
51:35before time began,
51:37the God that thinks of you,
51:38thinks good of you,
51:39put much thought into you,
51:41is calling you
51:41to surrender to him today
51:43and step into your divine
51:45call and purpose.
51:46If that's you,
51:47just slip up your hand.
51:48I'm going to pray for you
51:49right where you are.
51:50I want to get right with Jesus.
51:52I want to be saved today.
51:54I want Jesus to come into my life.
51:57Beautiful.
51:58Beautiful.
52:00I know it's a big step,
52:02but this is no mistake
52:03that you're here tonight.
52:04You had no intentions
52:06of being here.
52:07You're here because God
52:08arranged you to be here.
52:10And all you need to do now
52:11is say yes.
52:12What about those
52:13that are here today
52:13that say,
52:14Pastor, I've drifted
52:15from my gift.
52:16I feel like that
52:17if I was to measure
52:17my temperature,
52:18it would probably
52:19come up lukewarm.
52:21There's no reason
52:22for me to live this way.
52:23I want a fresh fire.
52:25I want a fresh restart.
52:28I want to stir up my gift.
52:29I want power,
52:30love,
52:30and a sound mind.
52:31I'm ready
52:32to start afresh.
52:34Is that you?
52:35Raise your hand right now.
52:36I want to pray for you
52:36right where you are.
52:37I'm ready for a reset.
52:38I'm ready
52:39for a new beginning.
52:40I'm ready
52:41for a fresh start.
52:42Thank you, Jesus.
52:43Thank you, Jesus.
52:45Beautiful, beautiful,
52:46beautiful, beautiful.
52:47Now, everybody,
52:48would you look at me
52:49and just get your hands
52:50like this.
52:51Get your hands like this
52:52and you don't have to,
52:54but do this
52:54and you'll be blessed
52:56by doing it.
52:56And I want you to
52:57repeat these words
52:59after me.
53:00Say, Lord Jesus,
53:01thank you for loving me.
53:03Thank you for dying
53:04on the cross for me.
53:07Thank you for forgiving
53:08me of all my sins
53:11and that by confessing
53:13your name
53:14and believing
53:16that you died
53:17on the cross for me
53:18and God raised you
53:20from the dead,
53:21I can have eternal life.
53:23I can have a purposeful life.
53:26I can live a life
53:27of legacy.
53:30Come into my heart.
53:32I receive you
53:33as my Lord and Savior
53:35in Jesus' name.
53:38If you prayed that prayer,
53:39you got a chance
53:40for a new beginning.
53:42In Jesus' name.
53:44Come on, church.
53:44Give these people
53:45a wonderful hand.
53:46Come on.
53:46Give them a big hand.
53:47And lastly,
53:48I know my time is gone,
53:50but this is a confession
53:52I wrote in 1998.

53:55and say this with me.
