00:00The fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire showed further strain on Friday, a day before negotiations
00:06in Pakistan to end the war.
00:09There was no sign of Tehran lifting its near-total blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which has
00:14caused the worst-ever disruption to global energy supplies.
00:18U.S. President Donald Trump accused it of doing, quote, a very poor job of allowing
00:22oil to go through.
00:24In a separate post, he said oil would start flowing again, without saying what actions
00:29the U.S. might take.
00:32Iran says ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanon violate the truce and are a major sticking
00:37point.
00:39Israel's bombardment of heavily populated areas on Wednesday was the worst of the war,
00:44killing more than 300 people.
00:47Lebanese officials described the strikes as a massacre.
00:52In Pakistan, which mediated the truce, authorities were preparing for the first round of U.S.-Iran
00:58talks on Saturday.
00:59They aimed to settle the conflict that began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on February
01:0428.
01:05The ceasefire agreement was reached just hours before a deadline Trump said would trigger
01:10the destruction of a whole civilisation.
01:13The U.S. and Israel have said the deal does not include Lebanon, which Israel invaded last
01:18month to root out Hezbollah.
01:20But Iran and Pakistan say Lebanon was explicitly part of the agreement.
01:26Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Bakir Khalibaf, said on social media that Lebanon and the
01:31rest of Iran's axis of regional allies were inseparable parts of any ceasefire.
01:35He is expected to head the Iranian delegation opposite U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
01:41On Wednesday, Iran released a 10-point proposal for a settlement.
01:46That included maintaining control of the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of Iran's right to nuclear
01:50enrichment and lifting of sanctions, as well as ending the war, including against Hezbollah.
01:57Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday he had given instructions to
02:01start peace talks as soon as possible.
02:03He said they'd include disarming Hezbollah, and that Israeli attacks on the Iran-backed group
02:08would meanwhile continue.
