00:12News for daily global updates. Seen during Artemis 2's lunar flyby on April 6,
00:182026, the Moon and Earth align in the same frame, each partially illuminated by the Sun.
00:25The Moon's surface appears in sharp detail in the foreground,
00:28while Earth sits much farther away, smaller and softly lit in the background.
00:33A faint reflection in the spacecraft window is also visible, subtly overlaying the scene.
00:39Though their phases differ, both are shaped by the same sunlight,
00:43revealing the geometry of the Sun-Earth-Moon system from deep space.
00:48NASA astronauts Reed Wiseman, Christina Koch, and Victor Glover, and CSA, Canadian Space Agency.
00:55Astronaut Jeremy Hansen are set to return to Earth,
00:59splashing down in the Pacific Ocean around 8.07 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
01:04Watch their return with NASA.
01:06The Artemis 2 mission has had no shortage of memorable moments.
01:10Not only collecting images never seen before, but also the crew's messages back to Earth.
01:16Sites no human has ever seen.
01:20The astronauts described the spectacular scale of the beauty in space several times,
01:26with Commander Reed Wiseman telling U.S. President Donald Trump,
01:29We saw sights that no human has ever seen, not even Apollo, and that was amazing for us.
01:36A touching tribute.
01:38Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen shared a poignant moment when he and the crew named one of the moon's craters
01:49after Wiseman's late wife, Carol.
01:51He said to Mission Control,
01:53A number of years ago we started this journey, and we lost a loved one.
02:02Adding at certain times in future the crater will be seen from Earth.
02:06Over 10 groundbreaking days, the crew of Artemis 2 have broken a record,
02:11seen the far side of the moon and fallen victim to a broken toilet.
02:16Before the spacecraft splashes down in the Pacific Ocean in the next few hours,
02:22here's a moonwalk back through the mission.
02:25Day 2 saw the crew fire the spacecraft's main engine,
02:29sending the Orion capsule out of Earth's orbit and on track for the moon.
02:35Once they were on the right flight path,
02:37the four astronauts prepared for a lunar flyby,
02:40bracing for 40 minutes of no contact with Earth as they circled behind the moon.
02:46The history-making moment came on day 5 of the mission,
02:50when the crew were further away from Earth than any human had ever been before.
02:56During their historic moment,
02:58the crew photographed its craters, ridges, and signs of ancient lava flows.
03:03They also witnessed a solar eclipse as the spacecraft, the sun, and the moon aligned.
03:09The Artemis 2 crew say they have many more pictures
03:13and many more stories to share with the world as they near their return to Earth.

03:35Speaking from space on their way home,
03:37the mission's pilot, Victor Glover, said the crew was eager to share what they have seen.
03:43When asked about their re-entry to Earth two days ago,
03:47he said,
03:47We have to get back.
03:49There's so much data that you've already seen,
03:51but all the good stuff is coming back with us.

03:56and talking about all of these things for the rest of my life.

04:06A lunar flyby and a solar eclipse have been ticked off their mission checklist,
04:11and the four astronauts are heading home with new images of the planet in clutch.
04:16Close-ups of the moon and a breathtaking snap of Earth are among the pictures taken by the crew,
04:21who have seen things no other human has ever seen.
04:26In just under three hours,
04:28the Orion spacecraft,
04:30nicknamed Integrity by the crew,
04:32will break through the atmosphere
04:33and quite literally splash down into the Pacific Ocean.
04:38We'll be bringing you every moment in the build-up,
04:41and you'll be able to watch their descent back to Earth above.
