00:00At the moment, at least the preliminary data
00:03doesn't indicate that this is more severe.
00:06In fact, if anything, the direction is towards less severity.
00:10But again, that's early days and we have to be very careful
00:13in interpreting the data.
00:14We have highly effective vaccines.
00:16They've proved effective against all the variants so far
00:20in terms of severe disease and hospitalization.
00:23And there's no reason to expect that it wouldn't be so.
00:26And I would expect, quite frankly,
00:28that the vaccines we currently have will show efficacy
00:34against severe disease and hospitalization.
00:37But we have to measure that and we have to confirm
00:39that that's the case.
00:40And we also have to confirm if there's any loss
00:42in that protection.
00:44But I would expect to see some protection there.
00:48And that's why it's so important that that's the best weapon
00:50we have right now, is to get vaccinated different.
00:53We know as the virus has taken that opportunity
00:56to evolve and it is our belief
01:00that if we were distributing vaccines
01:03in a more equitable way,
01:04especially in high-risk populations,
01:07that we would be doing much more to avoid that.
