00:06Mercedes young gun Kimi Antonelli was the man in China following his record-breaking run from
00:11youngest ever pole sitter to second youngest winner on just his 26th f1 start and it was big
00:19news in Antonelli's homeland with the 19 year old the first Italian to win a Grand Prix since
00:24Giancarlo Fisichella's victory for Renault in the 2006 Malaysian Grand Prix it was a result
00:32celebrated all over the world with world tennis number two Yannick Sinner acknowledging his countryman
00:37after he won the Indian World's tournament stateside and last but not least it hasn't
00:45done anything with tennis but it has been a special day for Italy because I'm a huge Formula One fan
00:51and having having having a very very young Italian Kimi bringing Italy back home on the top it's
01:02amazing so thanks thanks Kimi thanks from all of one and see you all next year ciao ciao
01:10Antonelli's China weekend also netted him a record for youngest driver to win from pole position
01:15and was just the second Grand Prix in history to be won by a teenager after Max Verstappen
01:21it was a shot in the arm for Antonelli's reputation following slow starts in Australia and China's
01:29sprint in the race he dropped a second after the initial complex but the Italian reclaimed the lead
01:35on lap two from the man he replaced at Mercedes Lewis Hamilton now at Ferrari
01:42it was a mature race from there vindicating Mercedes choice to promote him though hopes of a title
01:47chase this year may be premature given ahead of his 2025 F1 debut team boss Toto Wolff spoke about
01:55needing to give Antonelli time to develop you know he's gonna learn he's gonna make the odd mistakes we
02:04can see we will see some highlights we will see some more difficult moments but it's all part of the
02:08development of a young driver and it feels right to do this in 2025 considering the big rule change
02:13in 26 so we just gotta keep it cool with Kimi he's just 18 and see how that comes in
02:19it's now up to
02:21Antonelli to keep the hammer down to win again
02:34Alpine returned to its preseason form in China with its first double point score for 2026
02:40care of Pierre Gasly 6th and Franco Colopinto 10th for his first point at Endstone
02:47though he ran as high as second on a long first stint on the hards before dropping back
02:52while Haas driver Esteban Ocon crashed into him on lap 29
02:59the net effect is that with Gasly's 10th in Melbourne Alpine jumped from 8th to 7th in the
03:04constructors standings and is now just two points behind both Red Bull teams
03:12Alpine is enjoying a far more relaxed consistent start to the season with a stable driver lineup and
03:18no hint of changes that partnership was on show at the season opener in Melbourne when
03:24Endstone's finest met the Australian cricket team Gasly and Colopinto climbed onto the roof of the
03:31world-famous Melbourne cricket ground or MCG for a shirt swap with international players Scott
03:36Boland and Glenn Maxwell before heading inside to show off their race suits
03:45so this is our lovely pyjama we get to wear in the car but yeah it's fireproof it's quite heavy
03:52especially when we get to like hot countries like Singapore it's very humid etc so we sweat
03:57quite a lot in there especially in the car and was there very heavy after the race yeah when it's
04:02full of swag time Gasly and Colopinto then headed into the nets for some batting practice with the
04:09Argentinian looking natural at the crease though the pair will face stronger competition this week in
04:25F1 may have taken a short break between rounds in China and Japan last weekend but Red Bull's
04:31four-time world champion Max Verstappen didn't let that slow him down with the 28 year old having
04:38launched his Mercedes AMG GT 3 car for May's NĂĽrburgring 24 hours in true Red Bull style hitting the
04:45Nordschleife for the season opener of the long strecken series where there was plenty of support for the
04:53Dutch megastar on the grid Verstappen fielding his own entry with top sports car racing teammates
04:59Jules Gounand and Daniel Junkadella started from pole which they took by 1.9 seconds and led into turn one
05:07but the Dutchman
05:09was soon overtaken on that opening lap by Audi GT veteran Christopher Haase and only got past the
05:15German ace at the end of that stint before pitting Junkadella took over from there made short work of
05:24the Audi then driven by Nico Hartke and stretched his legs and stint before Gounand's turn in the number
05:30three Mercedes the Frenchman fought hard with Dan Harper in the number 99 BMW at the opening part of
05:40his stint but got his shot to pass as they approached the number 941 adrenaline motorsport Porsche Cayman
05:49Harper's chance to return fire was scuppered after he made contact with the Porsche earning himself a
05:55penalty lap loop Verstappen returned to the car for the final stint but just had to bring the Mercedes
06:02home which he did 59.5 seconds ahead of his nearest rival but while there were huge celebrations in the
06:10race's aftermath just two hours later the team was disqualified for having used seven sets of tires
06:16one more than the maximum allocation that handed the win to row racing's Dan Harper and Jordan Pepper
06:23in the number 99 BMW M4 giving Verstappen lots to think about ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix this
06:31weekend and his NĂĽrburgring 24 hours debut in May
