00:04I am deeply grateful for the addresses of condolence
00:08by the House of Lords and the House of Commons
00:12which so touchingly encompass what our late Sovereign,
00:17my beloved Mother, the Queen, meant to us all.
00:23As Shakespeare says of the earlier Queen Elizabeth,
00:26she was a pattern to all princes living.
00:33As I stand before you today,
00:36I cannot help but feel the weight of history which surrounds us
00:41and which reminds us of the vital parliamentary traditions
00:46to which members of both Houses dedicate yourselves
00:51with such personal commitment for the betterment of us all.
00:56My Lords and Members of the House of Commons,
01:02we gather today in remembrance
01:05of the remarkable span of the Queen's dedicated service
01:10to her nations and peoples.
01:14While very young,
01:17Her Late Majesty pledged herself to serve her country and her people
01:23and to maintain the precious principles of constitutional government
01:28which lie at the heart of our nation.
01:34This vow she kept with unsurpassed devotion.
01:40She set an example of selfless duty
01:45which, with God's help and your counsels,
01:50I am resolved faithfully to follow.
