00:05Day 2 Love, Grace, and the Necessity of Discernment
00:09As Christians, we believe that the God who created the heavens and the earth entered
00:15human history. More than two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ walked among humanity. Because of
00:21this, if we want to understand God's character, we must pay attention to how Christ taught and
00:27lived. One of the clearest teachings about love appears in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5
00:33verses 43 and 48. Jesus addressed a belief that had become common in his day. People were taught
00:41to love their neighbor but hate their enemy. The command to love one's neighbor comes from
00:46Leviticus 19 verse 18, yet the instruction to hate enemies was never part of God's law. It grew from
00:54human interpretation and tradition. Jesus corrected this misunderstanding. He called his followers to
01:02love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. He pointed to the character of the Father as
01:08the model for this kind of love. God causes the sun to rise on both the righteous and the wicked.
01:14Rain falls on the just and the unjust. This is common grace, and we are called to reflect it by
01:21offering love even to those who do not love us back. From this teaching, we learn that love is not
01:28limited to those who treat us well. Love becomes the natural disposition of those who belong to God.
01:35If believers only love those who love them back, they do nothing different from the rest of the
01:40world. Christ calls his followers to reflect the character of the Father by showing goodness even
01:47toward those who oppose them. At the same time, biblical love does not remove wisdom or discernment.
01:53Jesus loved deeply, yet he also confronted falsehood when necessary. He called the hypocritical
02:01religious leaders a brood of vipers in Matthew 23. This isn't a contradiction. It is the application
02:09of spiritual wisdom. Scripture shows that wisdom is required when dealing with different people
02:15and situations. For example, Proverbs 26 teaches that there are moments when a fool should not be
02:22answered and other moments when a response is required. The difference lies in discernment.
02:28In the body of Christ, we are a mixed multitude, as shown in the parable of the wheat and the
02:33tares
02:34in Matthew 13. Not everyone who claims the faith is truly regenerated. While we offer grace to all,
02:42we must be high in discernment to recognize those who are wolves seeking to destroy the sheep.
02:48Biblical love is not passive. It includes the strength to shut down false ideologies and theological
02:55arguments that seek to exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. To love like Christ is to be
03:01as shrewd as serpents and as gentle as doves. It means offering common grace at the facial level while
03:08maintaining a deep spiritual alertness. True love, therefore, holds these two qualities together.
03:15It shows grace toward all people while also exercising wisdom in defending the truth.
03:21We must know when to be gentle and when to protect the faith from deception.
03:26Biblical love is not passive. It seeks the good of others, protects the community of faith,
03:32and remains rooted in truth.
03:38Biblical love of your cause, andר.
03:38This Shreesn is a critical point that we can invite die by warning, and that you
