00:05Day 4. When love must confront error. Now that we have considered how to apply love within the
00:12context of the church, we must address another important matter that cannot be ignored. How do
00:18we apply this same love when confronted with wrong teaching, when there are wolves in our midst who
00:24seek to lead the sheep astray? Is such a situation something that can still be confronted lovingly?
00:30How should we respond to those who know the truth yet deny it, or to those who do not know
00:36the truth
00:37but stir division among the saints? It is important to recognize that while Jesus Christ was deeply
00:43loving in his approach, he was also capable of strong confrontation. There was a moment when
00:49he pronounced seven woes upon the scribes and Pharisees. In doing this, he exercised an
00:56authority that, in the Old Testament, belonged to God alone. Throughout the prophets, it was God who
01:03declared woes against corruption and hypocrisy. By doing this, Jesus was also revealing his divine
01:10authority. Those he confronted were supposed to be teachers and guardians of the law, yet they had
01:16distorted it. Instead of guiding people toward God, they burdened them with hypocrisy and made them
01:23feel unable to live up to God's standard. They lowered the true standard of righteousness while
01:28exalting themselves as the righteous ones. Because of this, it is imperative that believers understand
01:35how to confront such issues when they arise. One clear example is seen in the ministry of Paul the
01:42Apostle, who at times openly named individuals who were leading others astray. However, we must be
01:49careful to understand the context. When Jesus and Paul publicly confronted people, they were addressing
01:56individuals whose motives had become clear. These were not simply confused believers. They were people
02:03whose actions revealed a consistent pattern of leading others away from truth. Therefore, before we take a
02:10stand in similar situations, we must approach the matter with deep wisdom. We must ask important
02:16questions. Is this person simply mistaken? Are they immature in their understanding? Or have they
02:23knowingly rejected the truth of Christ? It may also be that someone has failed to properly interpret
02:30Scripture or has not yet learned to depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When we examine the
02:36Pharisees whom Jesus rebuked, we see a pattern. They loved outward appearances. They desired recognition
02:44as rabbis and teachers. Yet when it came to caring for the people of God, they showed little concern.
02:51Many of them used their positions for personal gain, placing burdens on others while living in hypocrisy
02:57themselves. Jesus described them as whitewashed tombs, beautiful on the outside, yet filled with
03:04uncleanness within. This image teaches us an important spiritual truth. When the inside of
03:11something is corrupt, what flows from it will eventually reveal that corruption. If a bottle
03:16appears clean on the outside but contains spoiled liquid within, anyone who drinks from it will become
03:22sick. In the same way, when a spiritual leader lives an unclean life, the effects will eventually appear
03:29among the people they influence. Even if they speak spiritual words or sing sacred songs,
03:36the fruit of their ministry may reflect the condition of their inner life. Because of our love
03:41for God and for His people, there are times when we must sound the alarm. Leaders such as Paul
03:47occasionally named those who were spreading false teaching. Yet we must remember that such correction
03:53was carried out by individuals who possessed spiritual authority, discernment, and responsibility within
04:00the church. This is why the matter can be delicate. Some people point out that Paul confronted leaders
04:07such as Peter the Apostle. But when Paul addressed such issues, he did so from a place of deep knowledge
04:14and conviction. In the letter to the Galatians, he explains that the gospel he preached was revealed to
04:21him directly and confirmed through his ministry. After his conversion, Paul spent time in Arabia in deep
04:28spiritual preparation before fully entering his mission. By the time he confronted error, he was
04:35already grounded in scripture and actively serving in the proclamation of the gospel. The conflict he
04:42addressed involved teachers who were adding unnecessary requirements for Gentile believers, suggesting that
04:48certain laws had to be followed in order to receive salvation. In every generation, similar distortions
04:55arise. Even today, some claim that blessings or miracles must be obtained through financial exchanges
05:02or special act. Such teachings contradict the gospel and must be confronted with clarity and courage.
05:09This does not mean responding with uncontrolled anger, but rather addressing the matter with the full
05:15weight and authority of God's word. Scripture itself is described as a two-edged sword, capable of exposing
05:23truth and cutting through deception. When someone persistently leads others away from truth, stronger
05:30correction may sometimes be required. In the book of Acts, Paul even confronted a sorcerer who attempted to
05:37oppose the gospel and pronounced judgment upon him. Moments like these remind us that defending the integrity
05:45of scripture requires spiritual maturity. Those who attempt such correction must be grounded in God's word,
05:52guided by the Holy Spirit, and motivated by genuine love for God and his people, for without his heart,
05:59our confrontation becomes mere human anger rather than divine protection. There may indeed be times when
06:06false teaching must be publicly exposed. Yet such responsibility demands humility, wisdom,
06:12and a deep understanding of God's character and purposes, much like the zeal demonstrated by Elijah when he
06:19confronted the prophets of Baal.
