00:04I've never said anything about you and Kate in your email.
00:06Well, last time I sent one, we weren't together.
00:08So you weren't together for very long, then?
00:10No.
00:12But I know she's gutted.
00:13And I hate that she's hurting.
00:14It's the last thing I wanted.
00:16We should have never gone out in the first place.
00:19And now I've probably lost her as a mate, too.
00:22But this conversation isn't weird for you, is it?
00:24Oh, no. Kate and I are a long run.
00:26Do you guys want to grab some lunch before we head off?
00:29I'm probably lucky to get a break at all today.
00:31I'm flat out.
00:32Where are you headed?
00:33Oh, nowhere, really.
00:35Got some cash in the bank from the overselling business.
00:37Not sure what I'm going to do.
00:38Well, you could always hang around here.
00:39Help Chris out, stop him from complaining.
00:42Very funny.
00:43How are you going to stay with us for a while?
00:44Be good to hang out again.
00:46Oh, thanks.
00:46I'm just going to service a car and then head off, I think.
00:50No dramas. The offer's always there.
00:51Thanks.
00:55How fast are you driving on those dirt roads?
00:57Fast enough to do some damage.
00:59Yeah, well, you should have known better.
01:01My mind was on trying to get the kids back,
01:03not whether I got a hole in my radiator.
01:05Oh, I found it.
01:07Quick patch job on this. Should do the trick.
01:10You know, if you want to fix it, you should take it out.
01:12No, I just want to get back on the road, mate.
01:14You're allowing customers to do their own repairs again, Chris.
01:18Mark, this is Danny, my boss.
01:19Oh, nice to meet you.
01:20Oh, so you own this place now?
01:21Actually, my mum owns the chain.
01:23I just manage this branch.
01:25All right. So what happened to Lucas?
01:27He sold up.
01:28Oh, right. I didn't know.
01:29Lucas used to let me work on my bike around here.
01:31It's a wonder he made any money at all
01:32letting his friends have free access to this place.
01:35It's not something I encourage.
01:37Sorry, I didn't realise.
01:39But Chris did.
01:40Well, actually, it was more of an exchange.
01:43Mark offered to help with the backlog
01:45if he could fix his car.
01:46He did.
01:47He could see that we were a bit busy,
01:50so we offered to help.
01:51He's a good guy.
01:52Anything for a mate?
01:53Thanks, but only qualified mechanics can work here.
01:56Oh, I am a qualified mechanic.
01:58Really?
01:59Yeah, I got certified while I was away.
02:01We could use for help.
02:03Chris will show you where to start.
02:05No problem.
02:08I offered to help.
02:10Lucky I don't have anything to do.
02:11Thanks, mate.
02:12You don't know how much you've saved my neck.
02:14I owe you.
02:14Yeah, you do.
02:16Well, I guess I'll take this radiator out
02:18and fix it properly then.
02:19Yeah, yeah, whatever you want.
02:29Hey.
02:30Sorry, I didn't think you'd be here.
02:32Oh, I'm just having some lunch.
02:34I'm just picking up my thing,
02:36so I'm moving out permanently.
02:38Yeah, of course.
02:40If you need a hand with anything...
02:41No, I'll be fine.
02:44Kate, I didn't mean to hurt you.
02:47I'm really sorry that I've stuffed up everything.
02:51I don't know, it's probably not what you want to hear right now,
02:53but I'd like us to still be friends.
02:57You have other priorities now,
02:59like Georgia and the baby.
03:02She told me she thought I already knew.
03:04I only just found out myself, OK?
03:06I was going to tell you.
03:09I just didn't want to make you feel any worse.
03:11So then you broke up with me?
03:13No, it wasn't like that.
03:14Oh, Kyle, that dog of yours is driving...
03:17Oh, I didn't know you were here.
03:19I'm just getting my things.
03:21I'm moving out.
03:22I'll cover rent for the next month
03:24so that it's easier for you to find someone.
03:26That's not necessary.
03:27We can manage.
03:29Oh, Kyle will need all the money he can get now
03:31with the baby on the way.
03:33Come on, Kate, it doesn't have to be like this.
03:35I get why you broke up with me.
03:37Georgia's having your baby
03:38and that's something I can never give you.
03:40That's not true.
03:45She hates me.
03:47She thinks I broke up with her because she can't have kids.
03:50She's hurt, love.
03:51Yeah, and what about Georgia?
03:53She's having my baby and she wants nothing to do with me.
03:56I've made a mess of everything.
04:03Yes, I know I shouldn't be here.
04:06Sheila.
04:07Kyle loves you.
04:09You can't shut him out of your life.
04:12I really don't want to have this conversation.
04:15But you won't talk about it to Kyle.
04:17Besides, I am this baby's great-grandmother.
04:20It's not just Kyle that's involved.
04:22I know.
04:23Just because you're not together anymore
04:25doesn't change the fact that this baby
04:27has a father that wants to have a part in its life.
04:31Look, Sheila...
04:32You know that Kyle's dad wasn't around when he was growing up.
04:36He doesn't want this baby to miss out too.
04:39Look, Sheila, I'm really tired.
04:41I know, but imagine how tired you'll be in nine months' time
04:45when that baby is crying and you're up all night feeding
04:48and you're exhausted.
04:49All you want to do is sleep.
04:51But you have to eat.
04:53But you have to eat.
04:53And then there's washing and shopping
04:54and there's only you to do it.
04:57I will manage.
04:59That's what all new mothers say.
05:00And most of them do manage,
05:02but not without a lot of help and support.
05:06You can't expect to be there for your baby
05:09without having somebody there who looks out for you.
05:14That's what Kyle wants.
05:16He wants to be that person.
05:17To help you.
05:20Don't knock him back.
05:24I appreciate what you're trying to say,
05:26but right now I have to think about what's best for the baby
05:29and for myself and...
05:32Right now, what Kyle wants,
05:35it's not my top priority.
05:49It's not my top priority.
05:50Right now.
05:54Well, don't you keep them going for another 10,000 Ks?
05:58Thanks.
05:59One more down.
06:00Too many more to go.
06:03Looks like we're in for another late night, I think.
06:04You should be used to it.
06:06Yeah, well, the sooner you get someone else in,
06:08the sooner I can have my life back,
06:09which includes me seeing my boyfriend.
06:12Do you live locally?
06:13Oh, I used to.
06:14I'm just on a bit of a road trip.
06:16So you don't have any work at the moment?
06:17No.
06:19Well, there's plenty going here.
06:20Exactly.
06:21I'm looking for a new mechanic.
06:22How do you feel about taking the job?
06:24Yeah, I don't think so.
06:25Well, it would be a huge help.
06:27And, I mean, that cash in your account
06:29doesn't last forever.
06:30Yeah, look, thanks for the offer,
06:31but I don't want to tie myself down.
06:33I just want to fix my car and get back on the road.
06:42I don't want to get back on the road.
06:44Hey.
06:46Can I come in?
06:47Yeah, of course.
06:49Are you okay?
06:51How's the baby?
06:53Yeah, both fine.
06:55Good.
06:55Great.
07:00Look, I'm really sorry that I told Kate.
07:03I thought that she...
07:04I thought that you would have told her.
07:06No, it's not your fault.
07:08I should have said something to her before.
07:10Yeah.
07:12We broke up.
07:15Did.
07:17That's why I didn't want to say anything about the baby.
07:20I didn't want her to get the wrong idea.
07:23Well, it's not the easiest thing to tell people.
07:26I mean, if things were different...
07:34I'm sorry that I didn't tell you earlier.
07:37Because I was still trying to get my head around things,
07:40and...
07:41It was just easier not to tell you.
07:45That way, I could almost pretend that it wasn't even happening.
07:50You have nothing to apologise for.
07:53Look, when I found out,
07:54I don't really know what I felt.
07:58I'm still trying to work it out.
08:01And I can only guess what you've been going through.
08:05That's not exactly what I thought I'd be dealing with a few months ago.
08:10Look, I just want you to know that I'm going to be there for you.
08:13It doesn't matter if we're not together.
08:16You're not going to go into this by yourself.
08:18Appointments, money, anything, before and after the baby comes.
08:22I'm there.
08:24You're going to be a really good dad.
08:27How freaky as that sounds.
08:30Yeah, I reckon I will.
08:32And you'll be the best mum.
08:41Because I should get going.
08:42Hey, um...
08:44Do you want to go for a walk?
08:47And talk about what happens now?
08:49What you want me to do?
08:53Sure.
09:01I know how much you like them.
09:03You still do.
09:04I've been pregnant and hasn't turned you off anything.
09:06No, I've just...
09:07I've been a bit queasy,
09:08but as long as I'm eating,
09:10it's fine.
09:12Yeah, especially these.
09:14Look, so what happens now?
09:15I know there's a lot of time until the baby comes,
09:18but there's got to be a lot of stuff to do before.
09:21Yeah, there's plenty of appointments.
09:23Carl's already scheduled in my next one.
09:24Oh, can I come to that?
09:27Yeah, sure.
09:30You know, there's books that you can read if you're interested.
09:32What about a DVD?
09:35Yeah, you'll, uh, get to that after the birthing classes.
09:39Then there's all the other baby stuff.
09:41Crams, cot, car seat.
09:44That can all wait till later.
09:46Cool.
09:48Now, is there a DVD about what happens after the baby's born?
09:51Like, what you need to do when it's crying and things like that?
09:55Yeah, you kind of have to figure that out for yourself.
09:59Hey, come over for dinner tonight.
10:01I'll get grand, a cookie, whatever you want,
10:02and, you know, we can talk about the baby and us.
10:07There is no us.
10:10Yeah, but there can be.
10:12I want to get back together.
10:14Maybe this happened so we would.
10:16You don't just get back together with someone
10:18because you're having a baby.
10:19It's not only that.
10:22I love you.
10:27Look, I agreed to talk about the baby
10:30and you will always be a part of its life,
10:34but as far as you and me go,
10:39it's not going to happen.
10:47What have we got left after this one?
10:49Find a service on the Mazda, then call it a night.
10:52There's a chance I can get dinner while I work.
10:54Don't push it.
10:55Oh, you're still here.
10:57Yeah.
10:58Hey, I was thinking about the offer you made me earlier.
11:01I'd like to take the job.
11:02Really?
11:03Don't question it.
11:04You do want to cut back on the overtime.
11:06I'm not arguing.
11:07That's great.
11:08When can you start?
11:09I could give you a hand finishing up now if you like.
11:11Even better.
11:12It's all yours.
11:16I thought you weren't sticking around.
11:17Oh, you're reminding me that money isn't going to last forever.
11:20Might as well take the opportunity while I can, eh?
11:23Nothing else changed your mind?
11:25Oh, I forgot how much I liked it around here.
11:40The next one is from Kate Ramsey.
11:44We have to forget that that night between us ever happened.
11:49This is what you are.
11:51Trash.
11:53I'm in love with Georgia, and I always will be.
11:57I'm guessing Kyle told you about the baby.
12:01Oh, sorry.
12:03I don't need anything from you or anyone else.
12:13Sorry, love you, I'm sorry.
12:18Rightio.
12:19So, the Proton's up first.
12:21Needs new brake pads.
12:22The Yaris has an oil leak.
12:24The Suzuki's misfiring, and the Mazda 3's aircon's stuffed.
12:30Oh, so just a quiet day, then.
12:32Yeah, I told you it'd be busy.
12:34All right, well, I guess we'd better get to it.
12:37Howdy.
12:38Hey, what are you doing here?
12:40First day on the job.
12:42You work here now?
12:42Yeah, Danny signed me up.
12:44What happened to your elbow?
12:46Oh, no, nothing.
12:47It's fine.
12:47I've just stopped by to see if you've got a band-aid.
12:50Uh, can you grab the first aid kits just round the corner under the bench?
12:53Yeah, sure.
12:55Was this his idea to start working here?
12:58No, Danny offered him a job.
12:59I didn't think he was going to hang around.
13:01Yeah, neither did I.
13:04Hey, you should really put some antiseptic on that.
13:06Oh, no, no.
13:07A band-aid should be fine.
13:08It's better to be safe.
13:09Yeah, I can do it.
13:10No, I don't mind.
13:10No, I said I can do it.
13:12Are you sure you're all right?
13:13Yeah, I'm fine.
13:14Look, thanks for this.
13:15I'll see you guys later.
13:26I might go to Charlie's and grab a coffee.
13:28You want one?
13:29Oh, no, thanks.
13:30I'm trying to back off the caffeine.
13:32I can't watch my money until I get paid next.
13:34I thought you said you had savings.
13:36I do.
13:37I'm just trying to keep it that way.
13:39You ever try paying for a hotel room every night?
13:41I'll shout you a coffee.
13:42No, honestly, don't worry about it.
13:44It's fine.
13:45You know, number 24's up for lease if you're looking for somewhere cheaper.
13:4924?
13:50Well, that's Kate's old place.
13:51Yeah, probably a bit weird then, huh?
13:53Yeah, probably.
13:56Well, you could always move back into 26.
13:59You share with Kyle and Sheila, right?
14:02Do you think they'd buy?
14:02Yeah, I reckon it'd be fine.
14:04I think you might have to put up with Sheila accidentally walking in on you in the shower.
14:09Hey, which room's for it?
14:11Oh, it's...
14:11Oh, Kate's.
14:13Yeah.
14:14Sorry.
14:14Can't get away from them, can I?
14:17Hey, are they new?
14:18Those security cameras?
14:19I've never noticed them before.
14:21Oh, Lucas had one installed, but Danny had the others put in a few months ago.
14:24Why'd you have a break in or something?
14:26Well, some cars were keyed.
14:28It was kind of my fault.
14:29I don't know.
14:30At the time, I reckon Danny put them in to check up on me.
14:33Could just be an insurance thing.
14:34Did she install them herself?
14:36I don't know.
14:37Why other questions?
14:38You know what?
14:39Maybe I will have that coffee.
14:50How's the elbow?
14:51Oh, yeah, it's fine.
14:53Chuck in a ciggy?
14:55No, it's a free period.
14:57Thanks.
14:58Need some fresh air.
14:59The kids were driving me crazy.
15:02Hey, I'm sorry if it was weird before.
15:04Probably should have warned you Mark was starting work.
15:06No, it's fine.
15:08I don't mind.
15:10I don't.
15:11It's his life.
15:12He can do what he likes.
15:13You don't fool me, Kate Ramsey.
15:15I can tell you're not happy about it.
15:17Well, try being me for five minutes.
15:19Everywhere I turn, there's another ex-boyfriend.
15:21At least yours aren't in jail.
15:25Yeah, I know.
15:26I'm sorry.
15:28Just smart coming back.
15:29It's really thrown me.
15:31You know what you need?
15:33A night out with me.
15:35Yeah, nice dinner, a few drinks, some dodgy dance moves.
15:39And we won't even talk about guys, I promise.
15:41It's a really nice idea, but I'm not in the mood tonight.
15:44I'm just going to stay in.
15:46Oh, come on.
15:47Don't go reclusive on me.
15:49Look, I wouldn't be very good company for anyone at the moment.
15:52But thank you.
15:54Well, I tried.
16:07What are you doing?
16:09There's something weird going on.
16:12Sorry?
16:13Well, the cameras are only covering the entry points,
16:15not the rest of the garage.
16:17None on the expensive tools and none on the till.
16:20Well, if you catch a burglar breaking in,
16:22you don't need to catch him with his hands in the till.
16:25Yeah, I know.
16:25But there's something else.
16:26Check this out.
16:28The timer.
16:29Yeah, that's what's powering it.
16:30It's connected to a hard drive
16:32and it's only programmed to record during business hours.
16:35So?
16:36Well, isn't it obvious?
16:37Well, it might be for you,
16:38but we don't all think like cops.
16:40So, she's expecting the intruder to turn up during the day
16:43while the place is open.
16:45I mean, don't you find it a bit strange?
16:48I think that security is not our problem.
16:51Come on, Detective.
16:53We've got cars waiting.
17:01Welcome, everyone, to the first of our Youth Awards.
17:04It's an Erinsborough Council initiative to promote young talent.
17:08Now, as mayor, I can't tell you how thrilled I am
17:11to see our community's young folk
17:13reaching for their goals and achieving them.
17:16Now, the judges narrowed the entries down
17:20to six young hopefuls,
17:22but there was one in particular
17:24that they all agreed stood out from the rest.
17:26So, without further ado,
17:28it gives me great pleasure to announce
17:30the winner of the first
17:32Youth Photographer of the Year is...
17:36Amber Turner!
17:41And a check, $500.
17:45Perhaps you'd like to say a few words.
17:52Well, I want to thank the council for putting on these awards
17:56and my family for supporting me.
18:00But mostly, I want to thank my amazing boyfriend, Josh,
18:05mainly for giving me my camera,
18:07but also for being the most inspiring person I know.
18:12None of this would be possible without him.
18:15He has always followed his dreams
18:17and he's given me the courage to follow mine.
18:20Ah, and, um, I want to congratulate
18:22all the other nominees for their amazing work.
18:41It's lighter than it looks.
18:43Yeah.
18:4424-carat plastic.
18:46Yeah, well, at least I didn't scrimp on the prize money.
18:48$500?
18:49What are you going to do with it?
18:51I don't know.
18:52No, sorry I wasn't there to see you pick it up.
18:54At least your boyfriend was.
18:57Actually, he wasn't.
18:59Seriously?
19:00Well, he was, but he left halfway through my speech.
19:03He bailed in the middle of your speech?
19:06His shoulder was probably hurting.
19:07I mean, he's just got out of hospital.
19:09How hard would it have been to stick around
19:10for an extra couple of minutes to say congrats?
19:13That's not cool.
19:14It's sweet that you're being so loyal, but it's OK.
19:16I understand that Josh's needs need to come before mine at the moment.
19:20See ya.
19:24How could you abandon Amber like that?
19:27What?
19:28She was really hurt.
19:30If you're talking about the ceremony, I was there for most of it.
19:32Well, most of it isn't good enough.
19:34The whole time you were in hospital, she was there by your side.
19:37All she was asking from you was a bit of support.
19:39You didn't tell us you left the rewards early.
19:41Did something happen?
19:42I stayed as long as I could.
19:44Is your shoulder sore?
19:44Carl warned you not to overdo it.
19:46I know.
19:46I thought I'd be OK.
19:47Well, you seem fine now.
19:48I was just about to go ice it.
19:50Well, you should have said something.
19:51I'll get your painkillers you do for them now, and can you put your sling back on?
19:54Yeah, thank you.
19:55Will do.
19:58I know what this is.
20:01You can't stand to see Amber's dreams come true.
20:03Now yours are in doubt.
20:05You don't know what you're talking about.
20:07I'm coming back from this, and that's why my shoulder has to be a priority.
20:10Yeah, well, Amber has to be one too.
20:16When you've finished taking out your filthy temper on that poor barbecue,
20:21your toilets will do with a good going over.
20:24Oh, come on, love.
20:26You've been like a bear with a sore head ever since you saw Georgie the other day.
20:29What happened?
20:30I want to talk about it.
20:33Oh, I reckon you won't have a chance of that now.
20:37Hey.
20:39Hi.
20:40You're back.
20:41How was Biragara?
20:44It was fine.
20:46Me, not so much.
20:49Is this about tomorrow?
20:52Hey.
20:53It's Valentine's Day.
20:55The day we were supposed to get married.
20:57I thought it might have been on your mind.
20:59Yeah, it has been, but I've had a lot of other stuff to deal with.
21:04Look, I know we spoke about you being a part of the baby's life,
21:08but I think that we need to talk specifics.
21:11Uh, sure.
21:12Look, and for the record, I heard what you said the other day.
21:16I'm not going to pressure you anymore.
21:18I just want this co-parenting thing to work.
21:21Do you think that it can?
21:23Okay, for starters, I want to pay for all the baby stuff.
21:25Okay, nappies, cots, scans, whatever.
21:27I can't let you do that.
21:29Okay, then, well, how about 50-50?
21:32Well, can you afford it?
21:33Yeah, of course I can.
21:36I just want to make your life as easy as possible.
21:38For the baby's sake.
21:40Okay, well, that would be huge.
21:42I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to juggle work and childcare.
21:47Well, those weekend shifts that you're always dodging,
21:49they have penalty rates, right?
21:51And who's going to look after the baby?
21:53Me.
21:54Weekends, nights, I'm your guy.
21:55And you can always move in if you want.
21:58Okay, I thought you weren't going to pressure me.
22:00Yeah, it was just an idea to make your life easier.
22:03But if it makes you uncomfortable, that's cool.
22:05Just forget it.
22:07Sorry, I know you're just trying to help.
22:10And you are.
22:12Hey, anything for the baby?
22:25Hey.
22:30Nothing good on her.
22:34You know no one in my family blames you for your dad's lawsuit, right?
22:38Sorry?
22:39If that's why you didn't want to stay for dinner, then you don't have to be worried.
22:42I'm not worried.
22:45Because I'd hate to think that what's happening with Mason made things awkward between us.
22:49It hasn't.
22:53Are you sure?
22:55Because you left my place in a pretty big hurry and you did bail on my award ceremony halfway through
23:00my speech.
23:01That has nothing to do with the lawsuit.
23:03Well, then what is it?
23:06Because even though I wasn't expecting the award, winning meant a lot to me and I wanted to share it
23:10with you.
23:11I told you, I was in pain.
23:13I said I'm sorry.
23:15What else do you want?
23:16Aren't you happy for me?
23:19I've already heard this from Chris, so can you just drop it, please?
23:21What?
23:22Heard what from Chris?
23:24I need to get ready for a gym session.
23:28I thought you said you needed to rest.
23:30You should go home.
23:43That's the baby.
23:44Well, it was supposed to be a surprise.
23:46I got him at the antique store.
23:47He's a beaut, isn't he?
23:49Gorgeous.
23:50I hope he didn't cost too much.
23:52Nothing but the best for you and the baby.
23:55That's really nice, but we do need to start saving for the essentials.
23:59There's plenty of time for that.
24:00And besides, kids need toys.
24:02Just need to sand him back, putty up the holes, give him a paint and a polish and he'll be
24:07sweet.
24:08That sounds like a lot of work.
24:09It's worth it though.
24:11It's a beauty about owning your own business.
24:13When things are slow, you can do other stuff.
24:17Are things slow right now?
24:19Ah, pretty slow.
24:21As in just today?
24:23Nah, it's been pretty dead for about a week or two.
24:26Really? That long?
24:28There's nothing to stress about.
24:29Yeah. Things always drop off this time of year.
24:31It will pick back up again.
24:38I used to serve one of these when I was a kid.
24:41Until mum flogged it off.
24:42Said I got too big for it.
24:44Too many cheeseburgers.
24:47So all this toy restoration, does it mean things are looking up for you and Georgia?
24:51Maybe. Yeah.
24:52So you've talked about it?
24:54Nah, not yet.
24:54But I made sure that she knows that I'm going to be here for her and the baby.
24:58Well, that's great, but...
25:00What?
25:03I don't want to sound like a voice of doom, but don't you have some trust issues to sort
25:06out?
25:07Sure.
25:08But it's only a matter of time.
25:10I want her to think of me like this rocking horse.
25:12Like a thick and old-fashioned?
25:14Ah, no.
25:14It's got flaws like me.
25:16But once you smooth out the rough bits and get everything right, you'll see that it's solid.
25:22Reliable and good for years to come.
25:24Well, I've got to hand it to Kyle.
25:26He is saying and doing all the right things.
25:29Yeah, but shouldn't you sound happier?
25:30Well, it's not his attitude that's the problem.
25:32It is his job.
25:33But I thought he was doing well.
25:35Yeah, sometimes he is and then sometimes he isn't.
25:37Well, that's the nature of small business.
25:40Yeah, exactly.
25:41So no matter how much he says he can support me financially, he might not be able to.
25:44I know, but you have an income too.
25:46Yeah, only if I keep working full-time.
25:49So I could work less hours for the same amount of money, but I can't get the shifts that pay
25:52penalty
25:53rates.
25:53I'm at the bottom of the list for them.
25:55Okay, well, just work less and we'll help you out.
25:58Yeah, I've...
25:59So I've figured out a way to make it work.
26:02Yeah.
26:03I'm going to do the emergency nursing course and that way I'll move up the ranks at work.
26:09But didn't you say that was expensive?
26:12If I move back in with mum and dad, I won't have to pay rent.
26:15I'll get free babysitting.
26:16You should get free babysitting here.
26:18They're in Bureau of Guard.
26:20That's the plan, son.
26:22I'm going to move back there to raise a baby.
26:28Carry on.
26:28I've been reading up about all these classes with babies.
26:31There's Jimboroo, kinder music and playgroup.
26:34I know you'll want to do most of that stuff with a baby, but I'd like to be involved too.
26:40Yeah, I guess it'll just depend.
26:42On your work schedule?
26:43Because I've already decided that a couple of mornings of work I'm going to start late.
26:48On whether they have those classes in Bureau of Guard.
26:52What?
26:55I didn't want to tell you this today, but I didn't think that we were going to be seeing each
26:58other.
26:59What's going on?
27:01I've decided to move back to Bureau.
27:04I just think that I need my family around me.
27:08And it's only two hours away, so you can drive down and we'll come up.
27:12You're taking my kid away from me, is that what you're telling me?
27:17I couldn't resist.
27:19Where did you get that?
27:20A mate of mine owns a digital printing place.
27:22I called in a favour.
27:25Okay.
27:29Please don't go.
27:32This is my baby too, okay?
27:33I want to be a part of its life.
27:36I'm not trying to take the baby away from you, Kyle.
27:39Really, I'm not.
27:40Then what are you doing?
27:42I just need the support of my family.
27:44I can give you support.
27:46Your financial support.
27:48I own my own business.
27:50I have regular clients.
27:52Yeah, maybe now, but what if the economy takes another turn
27:54and your business goes under?
27:56Like, I can't put that kind of pressure on you.
27:58That's not going to happen.
28:00Yeah, and what if I get sick?
28:01I need to know that there's someone there to help me look after this baby.
28:04I already told you, I'll be there for you.
28:06Oh, how?
28:09Look, you own your own business.
28:10You can't just take off at the drop of a hat.
28:12Uh, yeah, I can.
28:16I'm having a baby, Kyle.
28:18A real-life human being with real needs
28:22that's going to be 100% dependent on me
28:24for a bare minimum of 18 years.
28:28Because this hasn't been an easy decision.
28:32I'm sorry.
28:35I have to do what's best for the baby.
28:40It's like she's completely written me off.
28:42Look, I don't like the idea any better than you do, love,
28:45but I think I can see both sides of the argument.
28:47What, you think it's a good thing that she's leaving?
28:50Do I want to see my first great-grandchild raised 100km away?
28:53No, of course not.
28:55But I don't think Georgia made the decision likely.
28:58Oh, so she thought really hard about it
28:59before she cut me out of my kid's life.
29:01Well, that makes me feel way better.
29:02I think you need to remember
29:03that it's not just you she's leaving.
29:05It's her job, her friend...
29:07Yeah, well, she's the one choosing to go.
29:09Exactly.
29:09She's choosing to leave everything that she cares about here
29:13for the sake of her unborn child.
29:15It's called sacrifice.
29:16It's what parents do.
29:17Yeah, but it doesn't have to be like that.
29:20She's not in this alone.
29:22I want to support her.
29:24I know you do, love,
29:25but you've only ever had yourself to look after.
29:27As long as you've got money to pay the rent
29:29and a few bob left over for a beer, you're happy.
29:31You can't blame Georgia for getting twitchy
29:34about your job security
29:35because she has another mouth to feed.
29:37We'll both have another mouth to feed.
29:39Why can't Georgia see that we're in this together?
29:41Because she's vulnerable.
29:42It's natural.
29:43She's nesting.
29:45The hormones are doing what they're supposed to do.
29:48I'm not letting her go.
29:50Then what are you going to do about it?
29:54Maybe if she saw a little more security for her here,
29:58a bit more stability...
29:58Well, I'll do whatever it takes.
30:01I told her that.
30:02Well, maybe you should stop telling her
30:04and start showing her babies are a serious business
30:07and behaviour speaks much louder than words.
30:13There you go, love.
30:17Hey, I've just been over at Thomson Motors.
30:19And you're back right on Q5OT.
30:21You know they don't have security cameras over there?
30:23So?
30:24So, I've been asking around.
30:26No one else in the chain has them either.
30:28Which means Danny's paid for them out of her own pocket.
30:31Is that a problem?
30:32No, but since when does a manager do that?
30:35Maybe she's security conscious.
30:36And why are they only on during business hours?
30:38I mean, most break-ins happen after hours.
30:41I thought we decided it's not our problem to worry about this.
30:43It just doesn't make sense.
30:45I don't know how many times I have to tell you,
30:47but you need to turn your detective brain off.
30:49Stop solving mysteries that aren't there.
30:51Right.
30:53And I think I'll just get a coffee.
30:55You want one?
30:55No, thanks.
30:58Just a latte, thanks.
30:59Sure.
31:00Uh, did you see Kyle at the yard today?
31:03No, why?
31:04I just gave him some advice earlier.
31:06I'd like to know if he took it.
31:12Hi, Kyle.
31:13Hey.
31:14Oh, there's a coincidence.
31:16Sorry?
31:16You're looking for extra business?
31:18Yeah, yeah.
31:19I'm on a mission to prove what a good provider I can be.
31:21Oh.
31:22Well, I've got a job at school that needs to be done,
31:25if you're interested.
31:25What's the job?
31:26Well, we want to put in some landscaping and a retaining wall.
31:29Too easy.
31:30I'll have a look and get a quote together for you.
31:32And if you're happy with it, I'll get started straight away.
31:34That's great.
31:36Um, why didn't your caretaker do it?
31:38Oh, we haven't got a caretaker.
31:40I just hire people to do odd jobs as they come up.
31:44Well, have you ever thought about hiring someone more permanently?
31:47You know, kind of like a caretaker slash all-rounder.
31:50It would make your life a lot easier.
31:52Well, I agree, but I don't know if we've got the money.
31:55Well, if you're hiring contractors to do odd jobs all the time anyway,
31:58it'd be way more cost-effective.
32:00Do you know someone who'd be interested?
32:01You're looking at him.
32:03Oh, what about Tyler Kyle?
32:04Well, I can do both.
32:05I'll come to the school at night's and on weekends,
32:07and, hey, that way I'll stay out of the kids' way.
32:09You sure?
32:10Yeah, I am.
32:12OK, well, I'll tell you what.
32:14You put together a tender and I'll pitch it to the board.
32:16Oh, that would be awesome.
32:17Thanks, Susan.
32:18OK, well, email it to me when you've done it.
32:20All right, done.
32:20Cheers.
32:20OK, good for you.
32:21See you later.
32:28It's weird.
32:29Spark plugs I just tried to change are brand new.
32:32OK, which car?
32:33The Montague car, green Volvo.
32:35Oh, they're new because I've already changed them.
32:37Ah.
32:38Did you say Montague?
32:40I didn't see a booking under that name.
32:42Oh, it was a drive-up guy.
32:44I just wanted a service.
32:45Well, if you wanted a service,
32:46why didn't you book it in like everyone else?
32:47And why didn't you run it by me before accepting the job?
32:52Because you weren't here and the car was pretty clean.
32:54I figured it wouldn't take much.
32:56Is there a problem?
32:57I'm just trying to work out how we're going to fit it all in,
32:59that's all, unless you guys want to work overtime.
33:01It's my fault.
33:02I'll handle it.
33:02I'm sure it'll be fine,
33:04but just next time, make sure you ask me first, OK?
33:07Sure thing.
33:08Oh, and just so I know,
33:10what time did the owner say he'd be back for the car?
33:12End of the day.
33:13Yes, but what time?
33:14I don't know.
33:15He didn't say exactly.
33:16Again, next time.
33:17Please try and get more details.
33:20Oh, someone's had too many coffees today.
33:33Caretaker?
33:34You?
33:35Yeah, it's not that bad.
33:37How'd dial her, Kyle?
33:38I need more work.
33:40Did Sheila put you up to this?
33:42Because she did mention something about giving you advice.
33:44I'm doing this for Georgia and the baby.
33:47My gran just gave me a little push.
33:48Look, don't get me wrong.
33:50I think it's great that you're doing the whole bring home the bacon thing,
33:53but I don't think that juggling a business while being a school caretaker
33:56is the answer to your problems.
33:58Why not?
33:59Well, because you run yourself into the ground.
34:01And you'll be miserable.
34:02Well, it means to an end, dude.
34:04That dial of college isn't secure enough,
34:06and it's a no-brainer with a kid on the way.
34:08Yeah, a kid that you'll never get to spend time with
34:10because you're too busy trying to support it.
34:11I can make it work.
34:13But the chance for a regular income outweighs everything else right now.
34:16Yeah, well, I think there's got to be another way.
34:19Look, Georgia wants stability and security,
34:21so that's what I'm going to give her.
34:23Even if it means fixing leaky school toilets?
34:26I would eat glass for that woman.
34:28So, fixing the odd leaky toilet here and there isn't that bad, is it?
34:34Oh, I saw them and I couldn't resist.
34:37They are adorable.
34:41You know, this is the second baby present I've been given today.
34:44Makes me think that I need to get off my bum
34:45and do some shopping of my own.
34:47Tea?
34:48I wouldn't rush, you know.
34:49The third trimester's going to feel like 10,000 years anyway.
34:52We've got plenty of time to shop.
34:54Oh, sorry.
34:55Hang on one sec.
35:00Oh, wow, that was quick.
35:03Um, it's Kyle.
35:04He's putting in a tender for the caretaker role at school.
35:08Sorry, the caretaker role?
35:10Yeah, it'll be a permanent position if I can get it approved.
35:14Why would he apply for that when he's got toilet, Kyle?
35:16Well, not every day a man finds out he's going to be a father.
35:19Do you think it's because of the baby?
35:21Well, I suspect that he's taking his impending parenthood very seriously.
35:24I'm impressed.
35:26Yeah, but surely there's other applicants
35:28that are more suitable to the role.
35:31Well, that's the thing.
35:32Caretaker wasn't even on the agenda
35:33until Kyle pitched the idea.
35:35And he was so enthusiastic, I just went with it.
35:41I'm going to head off.
35:42Already?
35:43You're keeping tabs on me now, are you?
35:44Sorry, you're the boss.
35:46Danny, can I grab an invoice?
35:48Mr Montague's here to pick up his car.
35:49He's here?
35:50Now?
35:51Is that OK?
35:53All done.
35:54I'm just grabbing the invoice.
35:56I'll be right out.
35:58The invoice?
35:59Sure, I have it right here.
36:05Thanks.
36:10Not who you were expecting?
36:12Sorry?
36:13Mr Montague.
36:14Oh, no, he wasn't.
36:19Why are you scared?
36:21Look, your private life is your own business.
36:24But if it starts involving Chris and I,
36:26it's going to become our business too.
36:28Why don't you tell us what's going on?
36:33I thought it might have been my ex.
36:35Same surname.
36:38An ex that likes to use his hands, am I right?
36:42The first time I accepted his apology.
36:46Second time I got out of there, but he won't accept it's over.
36:51Hence the security cameras.
36:52He doesn't know where I work, just that I'm a mechanic.
36:55I got mum to let me keep the name Fitzgerald Motors, so he couldn't track me down, but...
37:00You wanted some extra insurance.
37:02Listen, an AVO might give you some peace of mind.
37:05Please, I've got one.
37:06But at the end of the day, it's just a piece of paper.
37:08It can't protect me.
37:09Yeah, a piece of paper might not, but the police will.
37:12Oh, please, I've called the cops before.
37:14Do you know how much can happen in the ten minutes it takes them to show up?
37:17You've got no idea what it's like.
37:19Well, actually, I'm an ex-cop. I've got a pretty good idea.
37:22Yeah?
37:22Well, until you're in my shoes, until you have to live every single day wondering if today's
37:27the day he's going to find you, then you don't.
37:28And you've got no right to judge me either.
37:30No one's judging you.
37:32Sure you're not.
37:33You have to let someone help me.
37:34Who?
37:35Who's going to help me?
37:36You?
37:36Why not?
37:37People say that all the time, but ultimately, they decide it's not their problem.
37:51So, um, Susan told me about the tender.
37:55Yeah, I just spoke with her.
37:56I can start next week.
37:58Really?
37:59Yep.
37:59So there's no need to worry about small businesses or the economy.
38:03Now that I have my business plus a stable job at the school, I'll be able to provide
38:07for you and the baby.
38:10Right.
38:12Well, um, that's great.
38:15That's, that's really great.
38:18You don't seem very happy.
38:21Have I done something wrong?
38:23No.
38:24No, it's not you.
38:26It's just this job.
38:27Are you sure it's what you really want?
38:29Well, it doesn't matter what I want.
38:31What matters is that I'm going to be a parent.
38:33And parents make sacrifices.
38:35It's part of the gig.
38:40Georgia, I will do whatever it takes to provide for my child.
38:43Yeah, I know.
38:43Anyway, you've been amazing.
38:46It's just, you can't take on being a school caretaker as well as Dala Kyle.
38:52Why not?
38:53Because the last thing that I want is for you to work so much that you have no life.
38:59Well, the last thing I want is for you to leave Erinsborough.
39:08Let's make a deal.
39:10I will stay in Erinsborough if you just stay with Dala Kyle.
39:14Nothing needs to change.
39:15Well, that's a win-win for me.
39:18What do you get out of it?
39:19I get to not be the girl that made you hate your life.
39:23Yeah, but what about security?
39:25Hey, I want to make sure that you and the baby have everything that you need.
39:27Well, as long as we have you, we'll just, we'll make it work.
39:32Somehow.
39:34You were right.
39:35You're the father of this baby and you deserve to be in its life.
39:41Even if we're not together as a couple.
39:46Deal?
39:47So we made a deal and she's starting.
39:50Oh, that is great news, love.
39:52Yeah, and I don't even have to take on the caretaker job.
39:54Oh, it wouldn't be so bad.
39:55Are you kidding?
39:56It would have been a slow form of torture.
39:58On the house to celebrate.
40:00Cheers, Grant.
40:03So, did Georgie give you any signs?
40:06Signs?
40:06You know, signs to show that she's interested in getting back together.
40:10Well, she said she didn't want to be the girl that makes me hate my life.
40:13Does that count?
40:14No.
40:14I didn't think so.
40:16Well, did you give her any signs?
40:18No.
40:19I wouldn't do that.
40:20It's too soon.
40:21Too soon for what?
40:22To be putting that kind of pressure on her.
40:24Well, I think the fact that she's staying here,
40:26that shows that there is some hope.
40:28The fact that she considered leaving
40:30means she's planning a life without me.
40:32Well, don't you dare roll over.
40:33You're a canning.
40:34There's too much at stake.
40:35That girl is the best thing that ever happened to you.
40:38Look, this canning isn't giving up, okay?
40:40Just need to be careful on how I play.
