Mike McCann goes to Nepal to scatter his late brother’s ashes on Mount Everest. Very respectful. Until his “Road To The Sky” bus tour turns into an ambush platform, courtesy of a crew of Nepali mercenaries. Now the movie switches from grief-related logistics to straight-up damage control. Mike and his mountain guide have to defend the bus full of passengers, keep the local villagers from getting caught in the crossfire, and somehow survive the whole thing without turning into a cautionary headline.

It’s one of those action set-ups where the geography is big but the plot is simple. The ratings are… not inspiring, but if you want Everest as a backdrop for a no-questions-asked fight, this one will at least give you that. Minimal nuance, maximal trouble.

Mike McCann will den letzten Wunsch seines toten Bruders erfüllen. Also ab nach Nepal, rauf auf den Mount Everest. Klingt nach spiritueller Einmaligkeit, bis der Plan auf der „Road To The Sky“ in den Straßengraben kippt: Eine Tourbus-Fahrt, und plötzlich haben nepalesische Söldner den Bus im Visier. Was folgt, ist im Grunde ein Schutzengel-Mythos für Leute ohne Budget. Mike und sein Bergführer müssen nicht nur sich selbst retten, sondern auch die Passagiere im Bus und ein lokales Dorf vor den Banditen. Mehr Spannung gibt’s dabei weniger aus Charaktertiefe, mehr aus dem ganz normalen „Wer bekommt als Nächstes den Ärmel ab?“-Prinzip. Ice Road: Vengeance ist ein B-Movie mit Everest-Garnierung und der Zuversicht, dass Gewalt auch in großer Höhe funktioniert.
