00:00Now it's a sit down with Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs.
00:03Hey, you two!
00:04The final season of Hacks premieres today on HBO Max.
00:07You've officially wrapped filming,
00:09so I want to take the temperature of the room.
00:10Are we feeling nostalgic, excited, happy, sad?
00:14We are living in a nightmare
00:17with our beautiful show ending
00:18and living in heaven knowing that
00:20we have the most amazing show on television.
00:24When we get there, drop me off at Arrivals on Departures.
00:26I cannot miss this flight.
00:28Drop you off? I'm on your flight, babe.
00:30But in prison knowing it's over
00:33and that we won't be able to film
00:34unless there's a Hacks movie.
00:36Okay.
00:37Or a spinoff.
00:38She has risen!
00:40And also proud of what we've done
00:43and in love with each other
00:45and, yeah, feeling very sad that it's over.
00:48Feeling, like, freak out.
00:50A lot of emotions all at once, you know?
00:52We hate to see you two break up.
00:55Meg, how are you coping? Is everyone gonna be okay?
00:57To see him with another, like, you know, curvy actress...
01:03If I see him with a girl with a fat ass
01:05and they're doing a joke together, I'm gonna freak out.
01:08I'm serious. I actually feel, like, so mad right now.
01:11Okay, don't worry. I'm not...
01:12Just thinking about it makes me so upset.
01:14If I see you next year in something
01:16and you're sitting there with some fat girl
01:18and your eyes are doing bits, I'm gonna be upset.
01:22Like, I'm gonna be like, this sucks.
01:24Oh, my God!
01:25And I'm also wishing you the best, of course.
01:27You've had so many guest stars, cameos,
01:29and famous cast members on the show.
01:31What was that like?
01:32Was it intimidating to work alongside people like Tony Goldwyn?
01:36I was like, oh, my gosh, it's Tony Goldwyn.
01:38He is iconic. He is in so much.
01:40I mean, you see him in, like, television drama,
01:41and then you'll see him in Oppenheimer.
01:43One battle after another.
01:44I'm like, he's worked with everybody,
01:45so it's very intimidating to direct him.
01:47Hmm.
01:48I will be suing you into oblivion.
01:51He himself is a director.
01:53He's worked with the greatest directors of all time.
01:55He is such a sweet, good, decent person,
02:00and somebody who doesn't need to be.
02:02I had no idea you were so good.
02:03Nobody does.
02:04What is one Jean Smart memory
02:06that you'll hold in your heart forever?
02:08Her presence is so powerful, and she's just so confident
02:11that, like, the scene where I had to yell at her,
02:14I was very nervous, and I feel like I was changed that day,
02:17having to yell at someone so powerful and confident.
02:20Jean never breaks, and we do break in scenes.
02:22Meg makes me laugh like nobody else.
02:24I can barely get through a scene without laughing.
02:26It is so liquid funny. Jean doesn't break.
02:29She's very good at holding it together.
02:31This season, she broke so much in the scene
02:35that we just had to stop.
02:36We didn't actually get the line without her breaking.
02:39In the edit, it's a little clipped
02:41because we had to cut before she laughed,
02:43which is really rare and unique for her.
02:46To end, we're gonna put 10 seconds on the clock.
02:48Tell everyone what they can expect from the final season of Hacks.
02:52It'll give you super hard laughs,
02:55but it will also make you feel really emotional
02:58in a way that I think is just completely cathartic.
03:00How could you have seen the show and not want to know how it ends?
03:05I got a new phone, but Kayla set it up with her iCloud,
03:08so I saw a lot of pictures I never should have seen.
03:11and then, I'll see each other's message.
03:11Take care, and then I'll tell you something.
