00:02Welcome.
00:04It was my and my sister's idea.
00:11It started when it was just like a card.
00:21If you want to go to Karachi Bans road or Lahore food street,
00:26there is also a popular street food.
00:30In America, this concept is also popular.
00:32But this street food started from a truck.
00:36And let us know what its uniqueness is.
00:40Thank you for having us.
00:41No, thank you for coming.
00:43We were involved in the truck.
00:45I was, my husband, my wife.
00:48I remember that my mother was helping us.
00:50We were making the truck.
00:51When we went to Pakistan,
00:53then what do we do?
00:54We go out and drink tea.
00:55We thought that we should be here.
00:58Because we are family oriented.
01:00You can go to school.
01:02And you can go to late night.
01:03My dad was Punjabi.
01:05So, when he asked me to drink tea,
01:06take it.
01:07So, that's where the name came from.
01:09It was going to be a pandemic.
01:11We didn't have so many opportunities.
01:13It was a brand new business.
01:14We didn't have any restaurant space.
01:16It was my and my sister's idea.
01:18We were both different backgrounds.
01:21My sister was a teacher.
01:22And I was designing.
01:25I am from Pakistan from Jailam.
01:27I was very small when we moved.
01:29I think I was like six.
01:30When there is an idea,
01:32where do we come from?
01:34We did all of it.
01:36Family, friends,
01:37where we scrambled.
01:41When we started going back,
01:43we had time spent on the street
01:46learning recipes from people.
01:48But when we came back,
01:49we realized that nothing applies here.
01:51Because the cost of labor here is a lot.
01:54There are ten people who are working here.
01:56You should be able to work here.
01:58Because it's just too costly.
01:59It feels very good to be an entrepreneur here.
02:03But it comes with challenges too, right?
02:06You are representing your country.
02:10So it feels like a lot of pressure at the same time.
02:13On our first day,
02:14we had like 3,000 people show up.
02:17You are our two locations.
02:18Thank you so much for the tea.
02:20You are welcome.
02:22Mmm.
02:23So,
02:24a purely South Asian heritage,
02:26their food in America,
02:29how difficult it is,
02:30what challenges are
02:31and what are the key to success?
02:33I don't think it was a difficult
02:34to blend the South Asian culture.
02:36I think when we opened it,
02:38we knew that if we were looking at it,
02:40other people are looking at it.
02:41And it wasn't just for the South Asians.
02:44We obviously wanted to introduce
02:45that there are different people behind.
02:47So our new Tricence location is in the mall.
02:49So naturally,
02:50there are many different people here
02:52and they get to try our different food.
02:55There are many challenges here,
02:56but I think they worked in our favour.
02:57We've been here for three years
02:59or at least a week in a week.
03:02We love the vibe.
03:03The place is great.
03:05I always get the same thing.
03:06It's a smash burger.
03:07I love it.
03:08It is because we're very happy here.
03:12It is the Pakistani business.
03:15We promote the Pakistani business.
03:16And it makes the same way
03:18we go back to this country.
03:20I'm here for 1st time,
03:23but I love this place.
03:25It's also the decoration.
03:28We don't actually have any chefs.
03:30We don't need a chef. Our process is so streamlined and we have done so much recipes that anyone can
03:37prep it.
03:38You have to rely on machinery, you have to commercialize, you have to really automate the system.
03:44Even though it takes time and money, you know what to expect and you know how to get through that.
03:51There are two things actually. The number one seller is our Zinger Burger.
03:54And a lot of people say that in America, the Zinger Burger style is not here, so people love that.
04:02And the second thing is our Kashmiri Chai.
04:04In this business, this family is also trying to help the community in Pakistan.
04:09Some of the earnings are in Karachi where the children are in Down syndrome, so that they can help.
04:17There is also a personal story.
04:19There is an organization called KDSP in Karachi and it's an organization for people with Down syndrome.
04:28So they provide the service for free. They have schooling, all kinds of activities.
04:33And actually my sister has a daughter that has Down syndrome.
04:37Success for me is, for me it's like interacting with my customers and seeing people come in and like enjoying
04:46our place, enjoying our food.
04:49Appreciating what we've created.
04:51Really?
04:52Yeah, I love it.
04:53Aw, thank you.
04:54Good job.
