Ghana teamed up with Zipline to deliver vaccines by drone—and it's transforming public health.

Before this partnership, families in remote areas often walked for hours to reach a clinic, only to find the vaccine they needed was out of stock. That's called a "missed opportunity"—and it's a serious public health problem. When a mother leaves without a vaccine, she may not return for years.

Zipline changed that. Using autonomous drones, Ghana now delivers medical supplies from distribution centers directly to health facilities—fast. Since 2019, Zipline has delivered nearly 8 million vaccine doses across Ghana, including routine childhood vaccines and COVID-19 shots.

The results are stunning:

Vaccination rates in Zipline-served areas jumped by 21 percentage points

Vaccine stockouts dropped by 60%

Missed vaccination opportunities fell by 42%

An estimated 700+ children's lives have been saved

But there's an unexpected ripple effect: when people trust that a clinic will have what they need, they visit more often. That leads to better health education, safer water practices, and fewer illnesses like diarrhea—even beyond the vaccines themselves.

Ghana proved that instant delivery can build a better supply chain. Now, Zipline is expanding to Nigeria and beyond. The science of vaccines is powerful—but access is everything. 🚁🌍
