It’s The Zula Patrol to the rescue when Voop’s volcanic cousin Fielding holds back from erupting. Fielding’s in denial about his condition, but if he builds up too much pressure, the results could be disastrous for the residents of Volcano Valley. Our heroes find out that Fielding is afraid to let his “inner volcano” shine through because his neighbors fear and mistrust volcanoes, and they might dislike him even more. The Zula Patrollers help Fielding rediscover how great it is to be a volcano.

00:13Wake up, Gorgah.
00:14It's time to play.
00:16Come on, Captain Bula.
00:18It's welcome the day.
00:19Where's that cedar?
00:21Ready to go.
00:22Wizzy and Wig are good to glow.
00:26Beakers bobblin' turnin' blue.
00:29Molto's making something new.

00:51See you around, oh, Submission Control.
00:54It's fun to learn with the Zula Patrol.
01:05Space. It's one of the most interesting workplaces around.
01:10Take the Zula Patrol.
01:12Today, their job is to measure a volcano that looks like it's erupting snow.
01:17Wow, that's going to make a pretty big snowman.
01:22These volcanoes on Jupiter's moon isle sure are hot stuff.
01:26Or in this case, hot stuff that becomes cold stuff.
01:31These hot sulfur eruptions cool off in space and become almost like snow.
01:37Sulfur snow, of course.
01:39I never knew moons of other planets even had volcanoes.
01:43Oh my, yes. A few of them have volcanoes that erupt, like that one.
01:49Other moons have volcanoes that no longer erupt.
01:52And this one's very active.
01:59Volcanoes really are awesome, Molto.
02:02But what exactly is a volcano?
02:05I'd be happy to show you in the Molto-pedias.
02:11Volcanoes are hills or mountains that form around a crack in the Earth's surface or crust.
02:17This sometimes can take a few weeks or it can take millions of years.
02:22Like the crust on a sandwich?
02:25Exactly.
02:27Only in this case, the crust is the top layer of a planet like Earth.
02:32Oh, I get it.
02:34The crust is the solid rock part where everybody lives.
02:37That's right.
02:38But underneath the crust, there's another layer of rock and material that's been melted by heat.
02:43Scientists call this material magma.
02:46It looks like melted cheese.
02:49But it's much hotter.
02:51So hot, in fact, that the magma pushes the crust, the land, apart.
02:56And the pressure from below causes the magma to rise up through the crack.
03:01It looks like it's searching for the weakest spot in the crust to pop out of.
03:05It is.
03:06And when it finds the weakest spot and comes out of the crack, it's called an eruption.
03:12As soon as the magma is on the outside of the volcano, it gets a new name.
03:16Lava.
03:17When hot lava pours out of the volcano, like it's doing right now, the volcano is called an active volcano.
03:27When a volcano is not erupted for some time, but shows signs that it could erupt,
03:32we call that an inactive or dormant volcano.
03:36It's kind of like it's sleeping.
03:38Yes, but the volcano could wake up at any time and start pouring hot lava out.
03:43Then it would be called an active volcano again.
03:47There are also very old volcanoes that haven't erupted in a very long time.
03:53We call these types of volcanoes extinct.
03:57Wow.
03:59That's our volcano hotline.
04:01We'd better go answer it.
04:02Fast.
04:06It's Voop!
04:07Zula Patrol, thank goodness you're there.
04:10I'm really worried about my cousin Fielding.
04:13Voop, what's wrong?
04:15He was supposed to have a tiny eruption, but he didn't.
04:18I'm worried that if he doesn't erupt soon, pressure could build up inside him and his small eruption could turn
04:26into a really big one.
04:28A major eruption could hurt the area around him.
04:31Can you help him?
04:33This is a job for the Zula Patrol.
04:40I'm sorry you had to make a special trip.
04:42I'm sure it's nothing.
04:44Well, you do look a little dormant.
04:46Inactive, that is.
04:47But other than that, I can't find anything wrong with you, Fielding.
04:52I'm still concerned.
04:54He's supposed to be an active volcano.
04:57Something's just not right.
04:59I think I'd better go inside Fielding and take a closer look.
05:03Can we go with you?
05:05We want to see what goes on inside a volcano.
05:07Why don't we all go?
05:09But it's going to be really, really hot in there.
05:12We're going to need some special protection.
05:18I'm going to draw what we see when we're inside Fielding.
05:21So you're doing a field drawing of Fielding?
05:25I'll draw one, too.
05:27That way we'll have a record of everything we see.
05:29And maybe it will help us help Fielding.
05:36Oh, a fact tickles.
05:39This reminds me of an elevator shaft.
05:41Yes, this is where the magma would flow up if Fielding was erupting.
05:48Oh, my stars.
05:50Now, how are we going to get under this rock where Fielding's magma is?
05:54No problem, Molto.
05:56I brought along your portable particleizer.
05:59Just in case.
06:05Look!
06:06There's Fielding's magma!
06:09Oh!
06:10Oh!
06:11Molto, it looks like the magma is getting more active.
06:15What does that mean?
06:16It means that Fielding might be getting ready to erupt.
06:19Everybody out!
06:25Oh!
06:27Oh!
06:30Oh!
06:32Oh!
06:33Oh!
06:34Oh!
06:35Oh!
06:36Oh!
06:38Oh!
06:39I'm fine!
06:40I'm fine!
06:41Fielding is active inside, but he isn't erupting!
06:44Why not?
06:45I don't know, but we've got to find out what its problem is, and soon!
06:49The rumbling we heard, along with the active bubbling magma, are warning signs of a major eruption!
06:56The longer Fielding goes without erupting, the longer fielding goes without erupting, the more powerful and damaging his eruption could
07:02be to the area around him!
07:05Hmm...
07:06I wonder...
07:07Maybe he isn't sick.
07:09Maybe he's keeping himself from erupting.
07:12Boola?
07:13Boola?
07:14Volcanoes simply don't do that!
07:16Boola?
07:17Boola?
07:18Boola?
07:18Fielding says he's fine!
07:19Well, maybe he's just not ready to talk about what's bothering him.
07:23Maybe his neighbors know something!
07:27Excuse me, madam?
07:29May we ask you a few questions about your neighbor fielding?
07:32You know, I've been wondering what's been going on with him!
07:36Whoa!
07:36All that rumbling and carrying on!
07:40And you should see the smoke and dust coming out of him!
07:44My word!
07:46That's not good!
07:50I may like to rock and roll, but when those volcano dudes rock, they rock everything around them!
07:56We don't need that kind of party!
07:59Oh my!
08:00Poor Fielding!
08:03We prefer things nice and quiet!
08:07Yes!
08:08And that volcano's got anger management issues that could cause some real harm!
08:13He's simply not our kind of volcano!
08:16Oh dear!
08:19Gee!
08:19None of Fielding's neighbors seem to like him!
08:25I know this sounds odd, but maybe Fielding won't erupt because he's afraid that if he doesn't...
08:31his neighbors will like him even less!
08:34Hmm...
08:35Pula has a point!
08:36How do we get Fielding's neighbors to like him?
08:39Maybe we need to help Fielding like himself first!
08:42That's it!
08:43We'll help him remember how great it is to be a volcano!
08:48Me?
08:49Why do you want to know about me?
08:51Well, uh...
08:53I've never been a volcano, and I wondered what it must be like.
08:58I'll bet it was a lot of fun growing up!
09:00Oh, it was!
09:02It was!
09:03I remember it all like it was just 60 million years ago!
09:07Back when I was just a little hole, forming around a crack under the sea!
09:16Oh, then, when I was a teenager, it seemed like all I did was grow!
09:22I made some nice land!
09:25I created soil that was good for plants and trees to grow in!
09:30And animals came to live around all those plants and trees!
09:33I played a big part in giving everyone in Volcano Valley a better life!
09:40And then, I entered my artistic building phase!
09:43I made all kinds of beautiful rocks and mountains!
09:46And I wasn't the only talented volcano in my family!
09:51On Earth, my Aunt Tilly is an extinct volcano!
09:54But she's really enjoying her retirement as Oregon's Crater Lake!
09:59And Uncle Wilbat, a dormant volcano, is now Mount Hood, the highest mountain in Oregon!
10:05Then there's Great Grandpa Olympus!
10:09What a character!
10:11He became the biggest inactive volcano on Mars!
10:15Gee, volcanoes really have done a lot of good things!
10:21I wish I could erupt! Maybe I wouldn't be so crabby all the time if I did!
10:27Gee, Mom and Dad, you never told us we were made from a volcano!
10:32Uh, well, yes, son. Mostly on your mother's side.
10:35Hurry!
10:37Awesome! We're part volcano! How cool is that?
10:43Fielding rocks!
10:45Zula Patrol! Neighbors!
10:48I'm here to say that I'm a volcano!
10:51And that's okay!
10:53And it's thanks to your help that I can finally...
11:06...orrupt!
11:08That feels so much better!
11:11Well, it looks like I was wrong! Fielding does have feelings!
11:16So, I guess you could say, volcanoes are lava-ble!
11:22Get it? Lava-
11:25Oh, I get it! Lava-ble!
11:28Because volcanoes have lava, so they're lava-ble!
11:35I thought it was funny!
11:41Hello there, science seekers! It's time for our Malto moment!
11:47Can someone tell me what this is?
11:50A mountain with the hiccups!
11:52No way! It's a volcano!
11:55It's a mountain or a hill, formed around a crack in the Earth's crust.
11:59Not all mountains are volcanoes, but the ones that are don't hiccup, they erupt!
12:04Do you know what the hot material inside the volcano is called?
12:09Eduardo!
12:12Nope! Magma! And when it comes out, it has a new name!
12:17Surely?
12:18No! It's called lava!
12:21Right! We used to call it that hot red gooey stuff that comes out of a volcano!
12:26But by the time we finished saying it, it was too late to run!
12:32Until next time, science seekers!
