00:07Guys, we have good possession.
00:09We're gonna try to generate offense instead of score.
00:12And we gotta win everyone.
00:14Everybody can't score.
00:16We gotta do something to win.
00:18Win.
00:20You five need to score.
00:22Not you, not you, not you, not you, not you.
00:24Use his leverage for good shots.
00:28Come on, man.
00:28We gotta be thinking to have that great offense for my teammates.
00:33All right.
00:34Take a deep breath.
00:37Got it out.
00:38Got it out.
00:39Triggered.
00:40Play good ball for four minutes.
00:47March Madness.
00:49It's the best of the best.
00:54At that time of the year, everyone's watching college basketball.
00:58Gives it to Jenkins for the championship.
01:01The NCAA tournament is always going to deliver unbelievable highs.
01:07Unbelievable heartache.
01:09If you have one off night, it's over.
01:12Abruptly.
01:14In college basketball, there's another level of connectivity to your team than pro sports.
01:20But we're at a time in the game in which the environment is just different.
01:25Money is the name of the game now.
01:27Yeah, it's already.
01:27Merry Christmas.
01:28You've got the dynamics of kids and their families and agents and handlers impacting what your roster looks like.
01:37You have as much talent in college basketball this season as we've seen in a really long time.
01:43If Superman was reincarnated as a college basketball player, he'd be Darren Peterson.
01:51The only way I can get people off my back is to go kill.
01:55And Bill Self is one of the legends that we have of the game.
01:58The thought of your dad still always looking over your shoulder.
02:01To me, that's pretty cool.
02:03With Michigan, I would consider a favorite to win it all.
02:07When I think of Michigan, I probably think of the Fab Five.
02:10They had a huge impact.
02:12Can't this era of Michigan basketball become something really special?
02:16When you're playing against some of the best competitors.
02:19How much do we have on the line?
02:20We're trying to win a championship.
02:22No one knows what will happen.
02:24Once you leave here, there ain't gonna be no arenas like this.
02:53A lot of history in this place.
02:59But to me, the best part of the history is those trophies right there from 08 and 22.
03:10Two special teams brought a lot of joy to a lot of folks.
03:16This is my 23rd year.
03:18And I've been so fortunate because I get a chance to coach
03:23at a place where the inventor of the game was our first coach.
03:30My office is on Naismith Drive.
03:34It's a pretty good gig.
03:37For some two years now, students, alums, and townspeople
03:41have watched the construction of the giant new field house in Lawrence.
03:45A bulging crowd of 17,000 persons packs the new arena
03:49for the dedication honoring Coach Fogg Allen.
03:53There's something about being a part of something bigger than yourself
03:56and to be part of that history, knowing that I'm never going to be the best coach to coach here.
04:02Fogg Allen, Coach Jim.
04:04Let's go!
04:06Jayhawks win, handing Dr. F.C. Allen the 700th victory of his 42 year career.
04:13Coach Fogg Allen had the title known as the father of basketball coaching
04:17and his national championship was in 1952.
04:20We had a guard on that roster.
04:22Dean Smith rims a 10-foot jump shot.
04:25That went on to do some pretty amazing things himself in the coaching world.
04:32This hallway right here captures individuals that have given so much to this place.
04:38Will Chamberlain.
04:38Best player it's ever played at the University of Kansas.
04:42Wilt leads the nation with a 30-point six-point game average.
04:45And then in 88, Coach Brown won the national championship.
04:48Of course, led by Danny Manning.
04:53The truth.
04:54Paul Pierce.
04:55Piers puts a three out.
04:56Good!
04:57Paul Pierce is impeccable!
05:00And then my guys.
05:01National championship guys.
05:03Brandon Rush, Darrell Arthur, Mario Chalmers.
05:07Chalmers for the tie.
05:08Got it!
05:09In 20 seconds.
05:11Kansas takes the title.
05:13And then the 22 national championship guys.
05:16And Kansas completes the biggest championship comeback all time.
05:23You are the first Kansas coach in history to have multiple national titles.
05:28The first ever.
05:32You know, the only thing better than winning two would be, I guess, to win three.
05:37And even though this display's crowded, I bet you they could still find a spot for it.
05:52We'll just go two of these.
05:55Boom.
05:58Take about 30 seconds.
05:59We're gonna do a little abs, a little core work.
06:02Uh-oh.
06:03It's easy.
06:04It's easy.
06:05DP, he's like that Ferrari, that Lamborghini.
06:08So you just, we just gotta make sure all systems are topped off.
06:13We don't gotta do too much.
06:14Other players, sometimes you gotta develop them at a high level.
06:17But this one, you just, just make sure the tire pressure's good.
06:21You're just fine-tuning.
06:22Okay.
06:22That's it.
06:23Fine-tuning.
06:23We don't gotta do too much.
06:25Bet.
06:26You know, just make sure that check engine line don't come off.
06:30My first time here, I remember telling my pops I wanna play here.
06:33And this was like my sophomore year of high school.
06:36When my dad told me, like, it's already rigged, we just gotta go live it.
06:38I'll be taking my talents to the University of Kansas.
06:42Go J-O.
06:44You get the legacy here.
06:46Darren Peterson was an unbelievable kid.
06:53Let's get to Darren Peterson, cause it all is about this guy.
06:57He's certainly got a chance to be the best player in the sport.
07:00I put him in a jersey because I feel like it's my purpose and my destiny.
07:03And I was born to do it.
07:10You don't see too many 18-year-olds that moves the way he moves, that sees it the way he
07:15sees it.
07:17He's far beyond his years.
07:22I told everybody what I think.
07:24I haven't held it back.
07:25He's the best freshman I've ever recruited.
07:29Somebody described you as the best guard to enter college since Derrick Rose, comparisons to Kobe Bryant.
07:35The Kobe comparison's a nice one, too.
07:37Just out of respect for the game.
07:40Yeah, but also out of respect, I don't like that one.
07:42You don't like that one?
07:43Out of respect, that's one of my goals.
07:45I can't even be compared to one of my goals.
07:47I like that.
07:48Feel me?
07:49We got to draw a line somewhere.
07:50Somewhere.
07:51I appreciate the love, but you can't compare me to one of the goals and I'm 19.
07:56We don't even know what I'm going to be like in the NBA yet.
07:58I'm focused on today and tomorrow.
08:02I'm going to come in and try to get a ring for coaching and for myself.
08:05How are you handling the pressure of being here in the meet to perform?
08:09Do you feel that?
08:10I've battled adversity since I was super young.
08:13I come from a family of go-getters, so this is what 10 and 11-year-old me wanted for
08:18myself,
08:19to be the face of a big-time program like I am.
08:34All right, man, let's go.
08:36Let's go, let's go.
08:38Lord, thank you for this day.
08:39Thank you for this amazing opportunity to play the game we love.
08:41I said you please keep everyone healthy and we'll just put a lot of enthusiasm and get better.
08:44Amen.
08:45Let's have a great morning.
08:46Okay, hard work.
08:47One, two, three.
08:47Hard work.
08:47Everybody grab a ball.
08:48Let's dribble.
08:49Let's go.
08:49Let's go.
08:51Here we go, man.
08:52For the first 20 years that we've been here.
08:56Let's have a great day.
08:58We won at a pretty good clip.
09:00Two national championships, four Final Fours, 14 straight conference championships.
09:05But the last two years we haven't been as good.
09:09We haven't been in the game.
09:12When I'm thinking of the game, I'm thinking of the last two weekends of the NCAA tournament.
09:17We haven't been there.
09:18They were the preseason number one team two years in a row.
09:21And by some measures, it was actually Kansas' worst two year run in essentially 40 plus years.
09:26Last year was the hardest and probably worst season that we've had since I've been here.
09:31This will be Kansas' first loss in the first round since 2006.
09:39The reality of it is, if you got better players and you got a great place to play and a
09:44great home court,
09:46the expectation is you should be good.
09:48You got to take it harder than that.
09:49Let's go.
09:50Full speed.
09:51Go.
09:52Going into this season, I don't think anybody's looking at us as a team that could make a serious run.
09:59That's not it.
10:00Do it again.
10:00That's not what we said.
10:01Everybody's got to do it right.
10:04This guy is going to be hellbent.
10:07Road up, everybody!
10:09On reminding the college basketball world who's who and what's what.
10:13Get out there!
10:14All right, that's a turtle.
10:16God dang it.
10:16Do it again.
10:17No good.
10:17In what is almost definitely the winter of Bill Self's career,
10:20this could be a pivotal season in determining the direction of Kansas through the end of the decade.
10:27We got to get back to consistently being a favorite to compete for the highest of stakes to cut down
10:35a net in April.
10:36And this season, I believe we've got the pieces we need to do that.
10:50I grew up in a one stoplight town.
10:54Basically, my address was a rural route.
10:5720 minutes from Indiana University is where Coach and I coached.
11:02coached. With my mother working a lot and being in a single parent home, the gym became
11:09like home as well. From the first time I played organized basketball, I fell in love with
11:18the sport. It's almost like it was a release from everything. And that's really where I
11:26learned determination, drive, and how to coach. My coaches had a great impact on me. I was assistant
11:37coach for years, beginning with Eastern Michigan, and then head coach at FAU, where we became a
11:44national name and a top 10 team in the country. After that, this job came open. Michigan is such a
11:54well-rounded place that everything is important here. On day one, we felt like we at least had
12:01the pieces where things went well, we'd be able to compete with anyone. The culmination of a lot of
12:08work and sacrifice. This isn't a job. It's a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week labor of love.
12:25What's the next way here? Another set? Five reps. Is this warm-up? Yeah. I'm gonna jump in with him.
12:32Let's do it. One more. One more. One more. One more. It's called offset loading. Offset loading? No.
12:41How many reps should I try to get? Ten out of 45. We can turn it up for a few
12:45minutes, yeah,
12:46and then we'll crank it back down. Yeah, crank it up, dude. Let's go.
12:55Whoa. Yaxl Lindoborg. I played a wing for University of Michigan. Yaxl is... I mean,
13:08there probably can't be a more diverse journey than his in college basketball, and I mean
13:14diverse meaning he didn't play basketball.
13:16When your book begins, the rest is still our time.
13:21They're a work in progress.
13:23He's getting done.
13:23I'm going bad.
13:25In high school, I was never fast, never athletic,
13:28and I couldn't shoot.
13:32It was a struggle for me, especially for my mentor,
13:35because I'd never been the most confident kid.
13:38After graduating, I wasn't planning on playing any sports
13:41or nothing.
13:41I was just working my job at a warehouse.
13:44His mom signed him up for an open showcase during COVID.
13:48A coach in Arizona saw limited clips,
13:51and they needed a backup big guy.
13:54He shows up to Arizona Western from New Jersey
13:58playing a sport he probably hadn't fallen in love with yet
14:01and really blossomed as a basketball player,
14:04became one of the best junior college players in the country.
14:13I started feeling myself a little bit more.
14:16I started getting recruited by a lot of Division I programs.
14:20UAB identified him as a guy that could help them.
14:24We competed against him for two years,
14:26and he was a special talent.
14:27Yaxo Lennon-Borg, attacking, takes the body in the bucket.
14:33You win this year, man!
14:38That's where you can do it.
14:39In Division I college basketball history,
14:42there are two players who have scored 600 points,
14:45400 rebounds, and 150 assists in a season.
14:48Yaxo Lennon-Borg and Larry Burge.
14:54After their season was over,
14:56he made a decision to declare for the NBA draft.
14:59It was, like, super huge news.
15:01Like, it was crazy how much attention it got, you know?
15:04It's like, is this really what life is going to turn into now?
15:07I'm at the highest level now.
15:08This is crazy.
15:09So then that's when all the doubt started creeping,
15:11like, man, did I make the right decision?
15:16How was that?
15:17About 245.
15:18Your best is 265.
15:20That's the most I've done?
15:24I wanted to obviously make it to the NBA,
15:26but I didn't feel like I was ready.
15:28It was a lot that I had to work on.
15:29And now fill me.
15:30Fill me a little bit.
15:31Fill me.
15:31Right now you're out of balance.
15:33Yeah.
15:33Right now I'm back.
15:35Down reach.
15:35Coach Dusty, I was a big fan of him already.
15:38You know, he seemed super genuine,
15:40super nice with his guys,
15:41and he seemed super engaged, you know?
15:43That's the kind of coach I want to play for.
15:44All you need to do is seal me
15:46and drop the ball two quick kill dribbles.
15:48I called Dusty.
15:49I was like, hey, I'm coming to Michigan, man.
15:50I wanted to tell you first.
15:51And, you know, he thought I was joking.
15:53I'm like, nah, like, for real.
15:56Congratulations.
15:57How many did you do?
15:57He left the same as coach.
15:58Right.
15:59He did too?
16:01Fortunately, he chose to join us,
16:03which raised our ceiling exponentially.
16:06Dusty's one of the best program builders
16:09in the way college basketball teams are built now.
16:13He's proven that he can evaluate,
16:15develop, and build chemistry really quickly
16:18through the portal.
16:21Recruiting guys out of the portal,
16:23we told them that we're going to bring in
16:25a bunch of really good players
16:26and we're going to make it work,
16:27but we're going to have to sacrifice all of us.
16:29They could have gotten more money.
16:31They could have gotten guaranteed
16:33more playing time elsewhere,
16:34but they sacrificed all that
16:36for the betterment of the team.
16:40It's cool to see people believe in a vision
16:43and follow through with it.
16:48Over my career of 25 years,
16:50all of the teams that had the best chemistry,
16:54the only commonality was
16:56they had a pass-first point guard.
16:58Quote of the day,
17:00learn from the mistake of others.
17:02What's the second part of it, Elliot?
17:03You don't live long enough
17:04to make them all yourself.
17:06Perfect.
17:07You can't live long enough
17:07to make them all yourself.
17:08We knew who we wanted to target.
17:11I'm Elliot Cadeau.
17:12I'm a point guard
17:13for the University of Michigan.
17:14I'm a playmaker.
17:16Find offense.
17:18I like that, Elliot.
17:19His speed, his reputation,
17:22his passing ability,
17:23he's a special player.
17:24Push!
17:25Find offense.
17:26Coming out of high school,
17:28I committed to North Carolina.
17:30Oh, man, how about that?
17:33I was there for two years.
17:35I entered the transfer portal.
17:36I started talking to Dusty,
17:38and I just fell in love
17:39with his coaching style.
17:41And the gold pick pocket of Jeff Spence.
17:48From there,
17:49we needed to replace
17:51our starting four-and-five man.
17:54You told me to go to the corner
17:56that we've been working on somewhere.
17:58Adai was someone
17:59that we fell in love
18:00with his personality.
18:01He's just such a kind soul.
18:04Seven-three,
18:05the way he can move
18:05and protect the rib.
18:07He's an absolute beast.
18:08Tomorrow, easy pickings.
18:10The Shaq of the West right now.
18:17Merez was the next guy up front,
18:19and that relationship
18:21clicked right away as well
18:23because we knew
18:23he valued winning.
18:25Merez Johnson
18:26is an absolute force,
18:29an absolute beast inside.
18:31Johnson's got the ball.
18:33Good!
18:41I think it is
18:43one of the best collections
18:44of talent
18:45that anybody was able
18:46to put together
18:46in the transfer portal.
18:48The Axel and the Borg,
18:50the Dymara,
18:51Merez Johnson.
18:52The ability for those three
18:54to play together
18:55in a jumbo lineup
18:56is what takes Michigan
18:59from being a really good team
19:01to a potentially great team
19:03this season.
19:04We would be remiss
19:06if we did not highlight
19:07the returning personnel
19:09that Michigan has.
19:11Maury Burnett,
19:13Will Shetter,
19:15Roddy Gale,
19:16players that went
19:17to the Sweet 16.
19:18They are really,
19:19really important
19:20this season.
19:22Michigan clearly looks
19:24like a team
19:24that I would consider
19:25a favorite to win
19:27at all this year,
19:28and they so happen
19:29to be from the Big Ten.
19:31Break it in.
19:32Hell of a day, man.
19:33Win for three.
19:33Win for three.
19:34Win for three.
19:34Win for three.
19:35Get ready to rest.
19:36This season,
19:37if you're going to even
19:37have a shot
19:38to compete in the Big Ten,
19:40we have to have guys
19:41that have a growth mindset
19:42that never get too high
19:44or too low
19:45because our season
19:46is so long
19:46and there are so many
19:47ups and downs.
19:50The goal for this group
19:52is obviously Big Ten,
19:54Final Four,
19:55and then National Championship.
19:58And so our intensity
20:00and attention to detail
20:02was at a really,
20:04really good place
20:04preseason.
20:05And as soon as we started
20:06playing games,
20:07I felt like it faltered
20:08a little bit.
20:11Still, we're winning,
20:13but we weren't winning well.
20:15Hand-off,
20:16count,
20:16nice to three.
20:16Left wing drives in,
20:17shot a high floater,
20:19big stop,
20:20no good off to the left,
20:21and Michigan survives!
20:24The TCU game.
20:26Nothing was going right.
20:27Good cut!
20:28Down away,
20:29Latouris Lelavicious
20:30for TCU.
20:32Defense fell asleep right there.
20:34It was our lack of toughness,
20:36our lack of cutting
20:38and sharing the basketball.
20:40Glaring holes!
20:42Glaring holes that are
20:44going to be our Achilles heel
20:45if we don't get them fixed.
20:47That'll do it,
20:48and Michigan has survived.
20:50They found a way
20:51to get a win on the road.
20:54My senses say
20:56that we're struggling
20:56with the weight of expectations
20:58right now.
20:59We're in a very slippery spot.
21:04This Michigan team
21:05has been winning
21:05by the skin of their teeth.
21:08Their biggest tests
21:09will come at the Players' Era
21:10Tournament in Las Vegas,
21:11where all eyes
21:13will be watching.
21:22Las Vegas, Nevada,
21:24a city built
21:25to spotlight
21:26the spectacular.
21:28This is the
21:29Players' Era Tournament,
21:31and other than
21:31March Madness,
21:32I don't know
21:33if there's a bigger
21:34college basketball tournament
21:35all year long.
21:37Come on, Chris!
21:38I need some love.
21:39I'm excited.
21:40I'm feeling it.
21:41Players' Era Festival
21:42is a new early season
21:44tournament that's created
21:45a major, major platform
21:46for college basketball
21:47during November.
21:49Everybody wants money.
21:50Now that players
21:51have the opportunity
21:52to play in a tournament
21:52where you're going to get
21:53one paid in order
21:54to just show up
21:55and be there,
21:56but then two have
21:57the opportunity
21:57to win prize money,
21:59what could be better?
22:02You have 18 teams,
22:03some of the best
22:04in college basketball.
22:05Michigan, Gonzaga,
22:06Kansas, Tennessee.
22:08They've got close
22:09to a million even
22:09just to come,
22:10and then the winner
22:11will get another million.
22:13You're playing against
22:14some of the best players
22:15and competitors.
22:16You're figuring out
22:17who you are early.
22:19What does your team have
22:20to really become
22:21a tournament team
22:22later in March?
22:28As a team,
22:29what are your expectations?
22:32You know what?
22:33My expectations are
22:34that we're going to
22:35love the moment.
22:36I honestly believe that.
22:38But I didn't say anything
22:40about wins and losses.
22:41I don't know that
22:41I know my team yet.
22:43Are we hard workers?
22:45Do we like each other?
22:48Are we dedicated?
22:50Toughness?
22:52Are we coachable?
22:54You know,
22:54you can run crap offense,
22:57but if all five guys
22:58believe in it,
22:59you'll get a good shot.
23:01But without Darren Peterson,
23:05who knows?
23:16Kansas Jayhawks
23:17have made their way
23:17out the court.
23:18They are three and two
23:20this season.
23:21There are only two losses,
23:22double-digit losses
23:23at the hands of
23:24North Carolina and Duke.
23:26And the big storyline
23:27with them
23:27has been Darren Peterson.
23:29He has missed
23:30the last three games
23:31due to an hamstring injury,
23:32and this will be
23:33his fourth.
23:35I've got the hamstring
23:36right now,
23:37so I can't play
23:38these Vegas games,
23:40but trying to figure it out,
23:41doing tests and stuff.
23:44Just a pain,
23:45just that I was there.
23:46Like, certain movements
23:47will bother it,
23:48trigger it,
23:48and then once I trigger it,
23:49it just would not go away.
23:51Tried to mask it,
23:52but I couldn't.
23:54So, uh,
23:55definitely hard for me.
23:58It sucks.
24:00The good news is,
24:01we're still early
24:02in the season,
24:04and it gives guys
24:04other opportunities
24:05to get more playing time
24:06to contribute.
24:08Jay Ox will have to get
24:09bigger efforts
24:10from the likes of Flory,
24:12Trey, Melvin,
24:13and the rest of the game.
24:15The coach wants to see
24:15better execution
24:17if KU is to make
24:18some noise out here
24:19in Vegas
24:19in an absolutely
24:20loaded field,
24:21half of which
24:22are ranked
24:23in the top 25.
24:26The bottom line
24:27is this.
24:28We gotta win games
24:29with or without Darren.
24:31There's no excuses.
24:33My dad was a coach.
24:35He had an expression,
24:36don't worry about the mules,
24:37just load the wagon.
24:43Notre Dame in Kansas
24:44ready to do battle.
24:45Kansas,
24:46a couple of tough
24:46early losses this season
24:48to North Carolina Duke
24:49without their freshman star,
24:50Darren Peterson.
24:51Peterson out
24:52with that hamstring injury.
24:53No word
24:54on a timetable
24:55for him right now.
24:57And now this guy
24:58moves up to the top
24:59of the scouting report,
25:00Trey White.
25:01Yeah, we're closest guys
25:03to step up,
25:04make plays.
25:05Get there!
25:05Get there!
25:06Get there!
25:08Rejected!
25:10Baduka!
25:11Turned defense
25:12into offense!
25:16Here he is,
25:17coming up
25:18with a right hand.
25:21Narrowson gets
25:22to his spot,
25:23but Baduka
25:24erases it again.
25:26Notre Dame
25:27put up a fight,
25:28but it's the Kansas
25:28Jayhawks
25:29to get the win.
25:3071 to 61.
25:32Jayhawks, 71!
25:34Notre Dame
25:35right now
25:35to 61.
25:40All right,
25:41fire away.
25:43Bill,
25:43what if any updates
25:44do you have
25:44about Darren Peterson
25:45and when he might return?
25:48He's doing more
25:49every day.
25:50He's working out here,
25:52you know,
25:52he's running,
25:53he's cutting.
25:54You know,
25:54he's just got to test
25:55out of some things,
25:58which we'll test him
25:59again when we get back.
26:00So,
26:01you know,
26:02Myron,
26:02it's,
26:04it's,
26:05it's,
26:07week to week
26:08may be too long.
26:09It's more of a,
26:10every three or four days,
26:11you know,
26:12we'll,
26:12we'll reevaluate
26:13and see where he's at.
26:16As of right now,
26:17definitely hard for me
26:18because,
26:20I feel like I'm doing
26:21everything right,
26:21but then it's still
26:22not working,
26:22so,
26:23gotta just trust the process,
26:25trust what God
26:25got going on.
26:28It's basketball.
26:30It's definitely gonna happen.
26:32Fight through it.
26:34I don't know.
26:35I don't really got an answer.
26:36I just,
26:37try to see what I can do.
26:47I'm trying to come up
26:48the best I got.
26:48I'm trying to own
26:49the metal,
26:49metal,
26:50bro.
26:50We got,
26:50we got some prizes to wear.
26:52Nah.
26:53Howie said I could take
26:53his share,
26:54too.
26:55I'm taking that.
26:57I'm taking that.
26:58I mean,
26:58you're rich already.
26:59Y'all both rich.
27:00Oh, no, no, no, no.
27:00Hey,
27:01while we're getting started,
27:01fellas,
27:02just let's do a quick
27:03brainstorm.
27:04Anything jump out.
27:04Anything we did well
27:05last night.
27:06Yaks.
27:07I'll say the post-ups
27:08and the fellas
27:09on the top
27:10on the fast break.
27:11The early post-ups
27:12on the fast break.
27:13Excellent.
27:14All right,
27:14let's roll.
27:15Hey, coach,
27:16pause it right there.
27:17You guys remember
27:18what plays they're
27:19looking to make,
27:19the guards?
27:20If I'm speaking
27:21with a coaching friend
27:22that's watched our game
27:23and he's talking
27:24about the intensity
27:25and passion
27:25and the unselfishness
27:27that we play with,
27:27I would be very,
27:28very pleased
27:29and feel like
27:30we're doing our job
27:31as coaches.
27:32We try to make sure
27:34our guys know
27:34that when it's time
27:35to work,
27:36it's time to work.
27:38But when it's not
27:39time to work,
27:40you can enjoy yourself
27:41and you can be
27:41just a normal guy
27:43and be vulnerable.
27:46This is where the guys
27:47that have is right here.
27:50NBA 2K26.
27:52Go right here,
27:53press the little bar here.
27:55And everything else
27:56is going what?
27:58You know my son's hurt.
27:59No, it's not.
28:00I ain't never seen a thing.
28:02Yeah, because during his visit
28:03with, you know,
28:04coming to Michigan,
28:05he really didn't know
28:05a lot of things.
28:06He was just kind of
28:07looking for someone
28:08to just, like,
28:09kind of tell him
28:09what it meant to be here
28:10at Michigan with the dude.
28:11It's a finally show proof, man.
28:12Let's go.
28:13That's my dude.
28:14Who?
28:15LeBron.
28:15Michael Jordan
28:16thought LeBron.
28:18Stop playing around.
28:19Rodney was pretty much
28:21the first Michigan player
28:22I met and got to talk to
28:24legitimately.
28:25So I was like,
28:25like, man,
28:26this guy's really cool.
28:29He doesn't want it.
28:30He doesn't want it.
28:31I thought he was,
28:32like, a very shy kid.
28:33He barely talked
28:33until he spoke.
28:36Hey, KD,
28:37take me home, KD.
28:38Which was a complete front.
28:39He can't get him
28:40to shut up now.
28:44I think once you build
28:45that relationship
28:46off the court,
28:47like,
28:47it's so much easier
28:48coming into the game,
28:49playing with physicality,
28:50relying on the person
28:51to the left and the right of you.
28:56I am the best
28:57who can't play on the team
28:58if anybody wants to know.
28:59Nah, they just cheated me, bro.
29:01The game of basketball
29:01is hard, man.
29:02Like, you can't really,
29:04like, go into a place
29:05and expect to win.
29:07I think we kind of
29:08let the outside noise
29:09get in our heads,
29:09but, like,
29:10we've done a great job
29:11of just staying together
29:12and just staying,
29:13of course,
29:13trusting the work,
29:14just getting back
29:15to our standard.
29:16All right.
29:16Come on, man.
29:17Come on, come on.
29:20Pity dance on me.
29:20Pity dance on three.
29:21One, two, three.
29:22Pity dance on me.
29:24Michigan and the Auburn Tigers
29:26ranked in the AP poll
29:27at number 21.
29:29Last March,
29:30the Tigers ended
29:31Michigan's season
29:32en route to a final four.
29:34Michigan swarming,
29:36picking up right
29:36where they left off
29:37yesterday.
29:39Tigers haven't scored it
29:40in a half minutes.
29:41Here's a drive-by ball.
29:42Kick it over to the three.
29:43Way short off to the left.
29:44Cadeau saves the rebound.
29:45Pushes it to Johnson.
29:47Up ahead, Burnett.
29:48Easy two-hand run.
29:49What anticipation.
29:51Cade's straight on.
29:52Meteor right corner.
29:53Wide open,
29:53Lentemore to three.
29:54You betcha.
29:56Lentemore takes three.
29:57Spinning,
29:58banking,
29:58and a foul.
30:00S-O-D!
30:01S-O-D!
30:03Michigan is team
30:04rolling Auburn.
30:06Cadeau lob it up
30:07and Lentemore
30:09are pinned down.
30:10Michigan has lit up
30:12Las Vegas.
30:16A 30-point victory
30:18over Auburn tonight.
30:20Michigan plays
30:22for a championship
30:23in the Players' Era
30:24Festival tomorrow night.
30:36See,
30:37we got to deal
30:37with this cockiness
30:38all the time.
30:40He wants to be
30:41the star of the show
30:42already.
30:44Yeah,
30:44we'll know
30:45who we play,
30:45guys,
30:46probably in a couple hours.
30:47Looks like it'll be
30:48Tennessee.
30:49And not in the championship
30:50game,
30:51it'll be the other game.
30:52Not a championship game?
30:53No,
30:54no.
30:54Michigan won by 30.
30:56They won by 20 yesterday.
30:58And Gonzaga,
30:59if they beat Maryland
31:00by more than 14,
31:01then that's more than us.
31:03So,
31:03they're up 27-11 right now.
31:08getting set for day three
31:10of the Players' Era Tournament.
31:12Biggest keys to a Kansas win today.
31:14Be physical.
31:15The Jayhawks
31:16will try to log
31:17the top 25
31:18take down
31:19of number 17,
31:20Tennessee.
31:22White passes
31:23ahead to Tiller.
31:24Goes up
31:25and slams it down.
31:27Abram,
31:28a desperation
31:28free.
31:29He hit it.
31:30Wow,
31:30Tennessee is red hot
31:31to start this game.
31:33Tennessee,
31:34they're one of the best teams
31:34in the country,
31:35one of the most physical teams
31:36in the country.
31:38I came out hot against them.
31:40I had like 14
31:41in the first half.
31:42Backdoor cut to one.
31:43Two-hand slammer!
31:45And then,
31:46second half,
31:47I fouled out early.
31:48A nightmare scenario
31:50for shorthanded Kansas.
31:52That game was very personal
31:54because Coach was saying
31:56that Tennessee
31:56was going to throw us around
31:58and stuff
31:58and we didn't want
31:59to be on national television
32:01looking soft.
32:02Marco enters into Flory,
32:04backdoor cut,
32:05Council.
32:05Right-hand runner,
32:07good!
32:07The troops, man,
32:08they rallied up,
32:10Melvin.
32:11Council,
32:12a slashing drive
32:12is good again.
32:14Melvin,
32:15Council.
32:15Marco.
32:16Crossover Jackson
32:17to the cup,
32:18right-hand runner,
32:19good!
32:22Jamari.
32:23Jamari McDowell
32:24with a big-time triple.
32:27This team is
32:28really gritty.
32:29We go down,
32:30like,
32:30we're not losing the fight.
32:31Tremendous comeback.
32:32effort.
32:33Once down,
32:3312.
32:34They're up seven now.
32:35Here's a drive
32:36and a block inside
32:37by Vidunga.
32:38Even though we miss
32:39our best player,
32:41we went through it all,
32:41you know,
32:42when a lot of people
32:43thought we would win.
32:45The party's underway.
32:47Kansas claims third
32:49here at the Players' Era.
32:54That was a big win for us.
32:55We got better this week.
32:57What did you learn
32:57about the character
32:58of this team
32:59throughout these three games?
33:01I've complained about us
33:02being a little soft,
33:03but today we were tough,
33:04and that's the thing
33:05I'm most proud of.
33:11Hey, man.
33:14Don't let me call you.
33:15Stop.
33:16I'm not going to let you
33:27say bounces.
33:28So any of these wing catches
33:30by the fives,
33:31we're going to be in a good,
33:32clean pick and roll.
33:33Or if it's hard edge,
33:34we're looking to twist it first.
33:36We'll get into our shorts that way.
33:37Take one minute
33:38and process those three things,
33:39and then we'll turn the page
33:40to defense.
33:41It's high-stakes poker tonight
33:43for our guys.
33:44One game with a $500,000 difference
33:46in payout.
33:49Stay in the motion.
33:50Stay in the motion.
33:50We can't try to win money.
33:52We need to go out
33:53and play basketball
33:54the way we've trained
33:55and prepared every single day.
33:58They put in so much work
33:59that they should feel confidence
34:01in what they've done.
34:05We're not going to play tight
34:06because of expectations.
34:07We're not going to play tight
34:08because we're afraid
34:09of what other people
34:10are going to say.
34:11We're going to go out
34:12and let it rip
34:12and trust that it's good enough.
34:17Coming into Michigan
34:18from mid-major level,
34:19it's like the amount
34:19of attention
34:20and the amount of, like,
34:21exposure you get
34:22on a whole other level.
34:23Y'all know we're here, boy.
34:2450 fans on me.
34:2550 fans on three.
34:26One, two, three.
34:2650 fans!
34:28It's the Gonzaga Bulldogs,
34:307-0, five wins
34:32over Ken Palm's top 100 teams.
34:35Gonzaga are ready to show
34:36that they're the best break
34:38for him in America.
34:40Yaxo Lendenborg has something
34:41to argue about it.
34:43I always have battles
34:44with my mind.
34:46Like, I'm not feeling
34:47like I belong.
34:48I've always felt that way.
34:50Like, I'm just a kid
34:51from Juco, man.
34:52I didn't think I'd be here.
34:54But, um, I'm going to do
34:55whatever I need to do to win.
34:59The Gonzaga, I come out
35:00when the first play of the game
35:01is a three by me
35:02off of, like, a flare screen.
35:04Right wing, Lendenborg
35:05twice a three, rattles it home.
35:07I've never come off
35:08a flare screen in my life, man.
35:09So it's like,
35:10more of my game
35:10is starting to show
35:11and I'm not even expecting it.
35:12Like, I'm just trying
35:13to do whatever Coach says.
35:14It's just building and building.
35:16And Lendenborg
35:17catches right pocket three,
35:18rattles it in again.
35:20Michigan sizzling to start.
35:22It's 11-3, Wolverines.
35:24There's the timeout bucket.
35:26Gonzaga called a timeout,
35:27and I just remember thinking,
35:28all right,
35:29our guys are just special.
35:32Michigan starts
35:33right where it picked up.
35:42Now Lendenborg
35:43drives it,
35:44leader on the game!
35:46We felt like
35:47if Yaxl could pick up his effort,
35:50then we had another
35:51big, big jump to make,
35:52and he's done that.

37:26here let's go you can make this one all right all right hey jack do you want to shoot all
37:34right
37:34thieves thieves good job my dad was a coach i got my degree at oklahoma state in business
37:43to make sure i didn't coach you know i'd seen my dad and hours and everything i said you know
37:49what
37:49i want to be in the business world i want to make money i i want to do something different
37:54and then i got a job working kansas's camp for larry brown that's when i became a coach
38:03the arizona's good but that michigan team i don't see how anybody in november can beat them yeah
38:09wow that's impressive what do you guys think your grandson hosting thanksgiving dinner here
38:16oh i just think it's great it's pretty good isn't it it's working out so far
38:22we haven't tasted the turkey yet i imagine it'll be good
38:28and how do you feel you've navigated basketball and family
38:32i actually think that i've done a poor job uh with that line i feel like my family has benefited
38:42from
38:43me being a coach because they've been exposed to so many great and cool things the teams the travel
38:51but it's a 12 month seven day a week job for the most part and too much of my family
38:58time involves my
39:00job even though i spent time with them i still think i shortchanged them what did you do at the
39:07game last night what were you doing during the game i can make that excuse that well there's good
39:18reason for it but the reality of it is can't get that time back hey you want to go get
39:26in the bounce
39:26house come on come with me there you go go ahead get up there so i'm really looking forward to
39:35uh not
39:36making that mistake with my grandchildren all right good job blair
39:57you don't really get how good it is to play at kansas until you play tomorrow because each and
40:10every one of you you came to kansas to play in this game tomorrow it was campers before we went
40:17to
40:17vegas i'm like whoa there's 125 last i saw you guys know each kid represents 30 kids
40:26mean there's already 3700 kids camping out for this game tomorrow for you all right and it's a tough
40:35environment but understand each one of you has shown that you're ready for this uconn you guys
40:44already know like back to back championship you know that's like that's big time between kansas and
40:50uconn they won three out of the last four national championships anytime two heavyweights like that
40:56match up in the field house they don't get no better than that in college folks number 21 kansas
41:02number five uconn team's going to come storming out the tunnel here in just a second for what
41:07should be an extra am starting lineup help could be on the way soon darren peterson inching closer
41:14and closer to a return just not tonight i just wish i could play in it before the game just
41:21looking
41:22around i was in there like what the i thought it was loud before but i didn't realize that the
41:33floor
41:33would be shaking you see that stuff like in movie like when you're a little kid crazy man it's the
41:41type
41:41of a game and you're just so confident as a kansas fan in this building they always find a way
41:58you
41:59you will have at first attacking from right to left as we view the floors they go inside
42:03taylor right to the hoop he takes it a right hand layup is good council drives into the right hand
42:09it breaks it home mcdowell from the top steps two and three he hits javari mcdowell blows a kiss to
42:18the crowd
42:19we felt really good about the first half they try to pass out but jim dawson steps away and takes
42:24it
42:24away to rosario a two-hand monster jab it went good we were up four points but we could have
42:32been up at
42:33least 12 points simple mistakes that we made as many highlights as we've had
42:42as exciting as these runs have been it's only a two possession game
42:49council up the floor misses the layup boy if he throws it back to trey white
42:53it's a dunk but melvin just two of eight 12 to shoot caravan another g3 he buried that one
43:00from downtown eudora so the ball to double that lead he will a three-pointer is good
43:08we were just making little mistakes that we should have made
43:13like stuff that learned fourth graders will mess up like we should never mess it up
43:17i'm dawson fakes on a three but a travel is called turnover on ku that'll be their 10th
43:25kansas can't get anything going offensively
43:28yukon's never beaten kansas but they're 23 seconds away
43:32mcdowell gets it in to melvin council
43:35dribbling on the tail feather in the jayhawk between the circles
43:39locked down to 15. council right side mcdowell steps through hangs with the left hand
43:46and that's gonna do it for the first time all time uconn has defeated kansas 61 to 56
43:566. everybody get your head up
44:09we tried hard and defensively we guarded our ass off but we're not gonna run great offense right now
44:19we don't have dp i mean that's a whole different deal if we had dp out there
44:24but we didn't do what we're supposed to do you guys played one-on-one way too much even after
44:33we
44:33totally it up that wasn't them that's on us you can't let the defense catch up because we can't go
44:42around we can't go around anybody but even with that being said there's some encouraging things
44:50we'll learn from it we'll learn from it and we'll be better from it tonight's one we should have won
44:57all right let's go
45:00bam one two three
45:06any loss sucks
45:10all of them hurt but there's losses that wake you up to the point where now you can actually be
45:17better
45:17moving forward moving forward because you were exposed
45:23we're young and we need to grow together fast because we're jumping in the fire right off the bat
45:34michigan look like the best team in college basketball by far but i know they're gonna go
45:39out and they're gonna lay an egg at some point how much do we have on the line we're gonna
45:42get
45:43the championship he gets around his bag how do we play if he's in how do we play if he's
45:49not
45:49peterson telling coach something needs to come out frustrations are growing that's terrible
45:54it's definitely been an unbelievable experience for me when i got up the stairs i'm going something
45:58doesn't it doesn't feel right i said i think i'm having a heart attack
46:07you
