00:04movie only a couple minutes ago and I'm here with my good old friend garrulous

00:24here anyways yeah no I glad to be here I love Mario yeah and it's you know for
00:31this video uh you know I feel like you know it's just gonna be us mainly yapping
00:35given our brief thoughts there will be spoilers so I'll just say real quick if
00:39you if you haven't seen the movie yet uh I recommend go out and see it if you
00:42watch this channel you watch if you're into gaming I say go see it if you're a
00:47Mario fan go see it I recommend it so yeah leave the video now because we're
00:51about it spoil it three two one I cannot believe Princess Peach dies that was crazy
00:58um I can't believe that her great great grandmother was actually Lola Bunny you
01:05know I was trying to find something really quick and it didn't work out maybe this
01:09is where we differ but I feel like I don't have a lot to say about the movie in a
01:13weird way and not that and that's not to say I hate it I had a really good time
01:17I'll just say again I had a really good time with this movie a lot of laughs I was
01:22laughing a lot uh with with the jokes that were in this movie I I do have some notes
01:27on my phone here just a few not a lot I will just say uh going in uh I saw
01:32the
01:32reviews uh from the critics and that was like at what 35% or something like that and
01:38I knew it's it's critics um after having now seen the movie I now see where both
01:46sides land and why because if you're a fan and you went to see this movie and you
01:51understand the references you played the games and you get the world enough to
01:56where things don't need to be explained every second you this movie's for you it
02:01is fast fast fast it does not stop it is it is honestly very unapologetically fast and
02:07to some respects I could respect it uh very different it feels like sometimes
02:11studios are very hesitant to do that but in some respects I could say this was you
02:15know it's fast and I could I could see why critics who probably don't know and or
02:22give a shit about the game lore or music its story in how things work and its quirks
02:27why they would either feel lost or they would be pissed as to why this movie's not
02:32explaining anything but you know what honestly at the end of the day if you're
02:41gonna see this movie it's because you're a Mario fan or you're a video game fan or
02:45you're a pop culture fan you're not going to see this movie if you're 70 years old
02:50unless you're taking your grandkids to it if you if you are doing that shout out to
02:53you for being so nice and bringing your grandkids to this movie but I mean that's what I will
02:57say in regards to the reviews do you have anything to say about that Dylan yeah the
03:01reviews I had like a couple people that I know start saying things like oh I saw the
03:08movie earlier today this and this and this no spoilers but this I didn't like this this
03:13and whatever and you know I went into it being like okay you know I I wasn't going
03:19into the first one expecting a masterpiece and you know it wasn't but I had fun and then
03:25at the same time I was like you know what I'm just gonna keep my my uh because the way
03:30people were describing this was like it was a literal roller coaster ride and I I didn't
03:35get that exact same feeling uh at least not through most of it like some of it was very
03:40fast but I was expecting literal breakneck pace with the amount of stuff they showed off beforehand
03:47but the the reviews honestly I I think I was like all right I'm just gonna have no expectations
03:51and I went in and I and I had fun not a good movie not a great movie but I
03:56liked it a lot
03:57yeah and and you know and you know I'll say like when as a sonic fan if I had to
04:04choose between a
04:04movie like this or sonic movie one I'd choose this I'd choose this any day of the week over sonic
04:10movie one sonic movie two and three those are completely different beasts uh in in terms of tone
04:15in their direction but like I again this is and I will say too and by the way again uh
04:21we can talk
04:22about spoilers at this point there's no we're already in the review part of this but I will just
04:26say uh the visuals are incredible um this movie is clearly showcasing that front and center and uh
04:37illumination is just cooking absolutely cooking and I do want to say too on the tone in regards to like
04:43the setting of this movie and um what it's what it's doing here with uh not just the you know
04:52the
04:52the the graphics and the and the resolution just how beautiful this world is the music
04:59I will say as a sonic fan I'm jealous as hell that you guys get your songs in your movie
05:09and it's not an
05:10easter egg it's not like uh oh stop breathing and stop chewing your popcorn you gotta really listen
05:15to get the five second reference no you guys get music in your movie and that's fantastic I wish we
05:21had that I want that um it is really nice it is really nice and it is throughout the entire
05:28movie it
05:29is always there and you know what video game directors it's not distracting either it was nice
05:34it put me in the immersion it was it was nice you know and also a huge thing about that
05:40too is
05:41there really weren't any big needle drops in this either like the first movie had a lot of times where
05:47they replaced songs off of the soundtrack they made with pop culture songs right this movie had like
05:54one I think like at the very start right with Yoshi I think it was okay I will say dude

06:01on the topic I don't I don't hate needle drops but it was very like yeah if you didn't like
06:06that
06:06the first time around like the music situation is better this time for sure it was a very funny
06:11scene uh Yoshi all together is one of my favorites in the movie but I will just say this right

06:15it was really good I was not expecting a Sean Diddy home song dude I cannot believe it I was

06:26can't listen to this song like yes the music's iconic yes it's from the 90s but I'm just dude
06:31it's rude for me now it's like what Yoshi really is he's one of the best parts he was really

06:37the whole time yeah let me let me get this out of the way my favorite characters in this movie

06:42this is probably where it might shock some people to learn this my favorite characters in this movie
06:46are Yoshi Bowser Bowser Jr and Fox those are my favorite characters my favorite Mario character
06:56yeah but that's the part that's so funny I'm gonna I'm just gonna rip the band-aid off and
07:02you know there's way more I have to say I have way more notes but I'm gonna on the top

07:07I just need to say this Mario does like nothing for like 90% of this movie I it's not

07:18to say the very end where it feels like Mario's not really the focus he's just traveling for a
07:26majority of the movie he's traveling to catch up with Peach for a majority of it and it's just
07:30like hijinks ensue Peach is the main character she's the main character this movie she's been
07:35the main character she is the main character yeah honestly though that that's kind of I I did actually
07:41say that to someone today because uh you know someone did say hey Mario's not really doing a whole
07:46lot in this movie not really that's interesting because in the first movie it was very much about
07:51him discovering where he wants to be and where he ends up and you know he ends up in the
07:56mushroom
07:56kingdom and then this movie they sort of like hearken back to the thing about Peach not knowing
08:01where she's from and then you know before I realized that this is this was not a Super Mario
08:06Brothers movie this was this was a Princess Peach movie primarily it was it was just like the the whole
08:13thing about her like leaving and Luigi and Mario staying back to look over the the the kingdom
08:19yeah it wasn't my favorite idea of hers like even when I saw that I was like okay that's a
08:24bit
08:24different but then we stayed there and we stayed there and I'm like oh my god they really yeah they
08:31really are the ones that have to stay back while Beach is there and you know what hey you know
08:36what
08:36I guess it's you know I guess it depends on the tone of the of the universe right you know
08:42maybe
08:43they don't want there to be like one main person they want you to get in transit in the world
08:47multiple characters and in that respect I guess I could respect it it's different it's definitely
08:51different from what we're used to but it was nice um and again in the topic of just jumping all
08:56over
08:56the place I'll say another uh uh note I have here was the first two-thirds of this movie
09:04it's weird for me to say that because it feels like it really was the whole movie but mainly the
09:07first two-thirds I'll say three-fourths of this movie is reference city it is reference after
09:15reference after reference and in my eyes in some weird way and I don't say this as necessarily a
09:21bad thing as again I'm a fan so I'm gonna like this stuff if you're not a fan I could
09:25see why you
09:25were just like what what's the point of all this eye candy as a fan I liked it but I
09:30will say this
09:30um it feels like they all it feels almost like they were not confident they were gonna have
09:39another mario movie after this one so they decided to reference everything quite literally every single
09:46mario game to ever exist including mario maker they referenced mario maker that's one of my favorite
09:55references in the whole thing because as soon as I saw bowser jr sit down and go check this out

10:06like it's also the line he said he said was so peak where he was like I'm gonna be your

10:13and I'm like ah I get time to meet your maker and I was like yes yes yeah that was

10:19things that was so clever like how it switched between mario and peach in the level and then
10:24them on the screen in his 8-bit sprites from mario maker but I just I fucking loved that it

10:30really cute just how it was working oh my god like a sprite animation from like a long time ago
10:34it really did and one of the funniest moments in the movie is when they lost and it was just

10:39and bowser just a gasp that was very funny again bowser jr bowser jr and bowser are some of my
10:46favorites in the whole movie like I wish I wish they had even more it was great I listen I

10:55you know bowser's awesome there's so many more games where he's just the best character he's like
11:01the best character in every game that he speaks in but like I did want to say about what you

11:06saying like oh I didn't know if they're gonna get another movie after this I'm pretty confident
11:11at this point that they are just setting up a nintendo cinematic universe because the only reason
11:20fox would be in the movie and my thought was oh fox and other nintendo characters exist in this
11:26universe because nintendo wills it to be so like the galaxies are very big or whatever but the fact
11:32that like explicitly they say yeah I got sent through a freaking wormhole and I ended up here in a
11:39different universe that I'm stuck here I was like okay all right so we're setting up smash brothers
11:44and my theory but my thought I think it's gonna be I don't think it's gonna be I don't think

11:57we're gonna get mario fox and kirby at least and probably donkey kong as like a like a like a

12:05like super smash brothers movie because there's no way they do the original 12 fighters there's no way
12:11we have 12 characters I so going in I will say going into this movie because they revealed fox and
12:19when they revealed it I was like bummed I shouldn't have I was like why did they do that you

12:23mean they really shouldn't have his reveal in the movie was like set up like who is it but it's

12:28you know I'm sorry not even I just you were talking about the music earlier not even are they
12:33unapologetically like here's just an entire soundtrack and mario music right here's some fucking star
12:38fox arrangements because who the fuck cares right like what's happening jumped out of my seat when
12:44I heard the star fox remix it sounded crazy but like I was yeah it would have been so much

12:50if they did not reveal fox it would like seriously I would have been like oh my god you know

12:55have been so much better like two points higher if they didn't do that but going into this movie
12:59because I knew fox in the movie because they revealed it I was like oh my god there must be
13:04setting up a mario universe these after credits I'm probably gonna see kirby I'm probably gonna
13:09see samus I'm probably gonna see after credits suck that sucks we're gonna get there we're gonna get
13:15there I wanted to talk about I wanted to talk about the after credits but I was just like it

13:20the same way the first movie did where I'm like you guys I don't think you guys quite understand the
13:25point of after credits the way you should you know it's so funny about after credits though because the
13:30first time they were like teasing yoshi and they were like everyone was like wow they're gonna do a
13:34super mario world movie it's like no they did the super mario movie it is everything
13:40it's so like the fact that it's just like crazy it's like what are we doing for two minutes you
13:46did get yoshi's island because they referenced everything in this movie can I say by the way
13:50too I have that on my notepad in that scene I know we're jumping all over the place this is
13:54how
13:54it was gonna be though when they turned into babies in that section that was when it's very
14:02adorable scene I was laughing I was like oh my god yoshi's island reference this is you know this
14:06is great yeah um and odyssey with the dimes are and all this stuff right I will say this this

14:14where I I realized where the critics stood and why they stood where they did and why I think in
14:22some
14:22regards they're valid in regards to the story aspect of this movie not necessarily the pacing but
14:28the story because they mentioned their frustration is like they're not trying to develop anything
14:33meaningful like these scenes don't have time to settle they don't have time to build this universe
14:38like for newcomers it's go go go go go eye candy eye candy adhd adhd that type of style they

14:45like tiktok uh editing right I will say it's basically like in sonic games when you know like
14:51in sonic adventure when the whale starts running after running the whales running you know the whales
14:55are swimming after you and uh you're like whoa whoa whoa whoa and then it ends right that's this movie
15:01except it's just the whale over and over again right it doesn't stop ever like there are very brief
15:08moments where it stops but it's for reasons that lead to more whales and it wasn't until that moment
15:14though where I realized oh like not only were do I understand where the critics are coming from but I
15:19think they are valid in some respects to the story because Mario and Luigi was turned into babies
15:24right peach and fox saw that happen all right they go they separate because toad went to go uh find
15:33them during their scuffle uh with the dinosaur they get turned back into adults they walk back into the
15:42camp peach or fox nobody questions it no one questions how they're back like I was just like
15:51that in that moment when I realized like when when there was absolutely no acknowledgement of that I was
15:56like I kind of get yeah where how these movies differ from something like say the sonic movies
16:02because in the sonic movies yeah they would explain it even if it would be a dumb explanation
16:07they would just half-heartedly like mention what just happened and why or whatever right or half-heartedly
16:13but this movie is so focused on going it's like you you can see where it's like as an outsider
16:21if
16:22if none of these eye candy scenes are appealing to you I could see why this is like pissing you

16:29it's like like it's like it is like a non-movie it's got yeah like we were saying it's just

16:36piece after set piece and the funny thing about the baby thing it's so out of nowhere too like in
16:44all the trailers when they showed the babies I was like huh there's another flashback but why is yoshi
16:50there has he met them before and he just you know they just didn't know because they were born and
16:56it was like they weren't born in the mushroom kingdom this time so that's right then the way
17:00like there's being a gun that turns you into a baby it's both really funny and also really
17:07fucking stupid it's so goofy but it's one of those things though too where it's like all these set
17:13pieces they're good and I love them I think the frustration that some might have about this in the
17:22pacing is it feels like there's no better way for me to say this and I'm sorry for how crude

17:29sounds it sounds like they're shooting they're shooting their load a little too soon on all of
17:34these because it's like I I you know I would like that whole aspect with yoshi and the babies was
17:42hilarious in toad it was hilarious I wouldn't mind a whole separate side series that was just that
17:48I wouldn't mind a whole uh separate movie with mort you know the the mario 2 cast with birdo
17:57I but like seeing wart with a w or wart my bad sorry wart I was like that was mort

18:21are in this movie they shoved in here and uh I guess I could relate it slightly to the sonic

18:28now some people are like oh if you throw in all the characters at once it's gonna be a shit

18:34it's gonna be a wreck and uh you know I on one hand it's like if you put three characters
18:40into this
18:40new movie it's probably it's gonna be a little tough I guess if you keep bringing every single one
18:45back sure it'll be tough the mario movie says I don't care about that because none of them are
18:50going to be full characters anyway so like we have things like I don't even I'm so confused about so
18:58much of it because I I completely forgot we were on the getaway galaxy or sorry the uh the gateway
19:03galaxy because they go through the gateway galaxy they get there they go through a wall in the gateway
19:09galaxy which is they didn't use the mario 64 sound effect which like what are we even doing
19:14that's a good thing uh should have been and then uh picture frame it should have been a picture
19:18frame either that or it could have been a picture frame of a casino or it could have been
19:25yeah you know what it could have been like the big hawk mouth thing they could have gone
19:28yeah but uh once they get in there like I I loved all the character cameos of course I did
19:36not think
19:38ever that I would see wart and mauser birdo and claw grip
19:43on a movie screen I couldn't believe it I couldn't believe it they didn't add fry guy
19:49which is ridiculous he was the only one missing uh but like the whole thing about this thing is
19:55these characters like even wart who has a speaking role
19:59gets his he gets beaten up which is great and one person I was talking to was like
20:04I mean I've heard a lot of people say things about like the girl boss peach and how she's
20:08he's just doing everything she's accomplishing everything on her own uh I think it makes a lot
20:14of sense especially in this case because these are all super mario brothers two characters and
20:18bosses which she canonically can beat up on her own and she has yeah like they were pretty much the
20:25most prevalent side characters aside from toads and really wart and those guys didn't have that
20:30much going on anyway they really were just like hey there's stuff happening right and a lot of those
20:36side characters like birdo like the scene from the trailer where birdo was shooting the eggs at
20:42at princess peach that's like all like that's it for birdo I think in the movie like she's barely
20:48like I think that's really it she's barely uh you know what you saw in the trailer is what yeah
20:53what you saw in the trailer is what you see in the movie but it's like there's not much more
20:56outside of that yeah um mouser and claw grip aren't voiced either like only wart is voiced in that

21:46speaking of side characters uh it is interesting uh i think the thing that confuses me about this
21:53movie maybe the most is the fact that it's called galaxy because it really is a celebration of all of
22:00mario yes there is prominent galaxy parts in this movie but there's a lot there's a lot fox is in
22:08this
22:08movie more than rosalina more yeah that's the the big elephant the big fox in the room is that uh
22:14rosalina is sidelined harder than luigi got sidelined last time it's just so it's so it's so
22:21funny it's just like it's like if uh it's like if we have like sonic movie 4 in uh kazuma

22:28in that movie over metal sonic it's like what that would be sega please do that please hire someone to
22:35play kiryu dude actually i wanted to talk about rosalina specifically because the trailers made her out
22:41to be such a massive part of this right and it's i have so much to say about that i
22:47know we were
22:48almost getting into it right before this but like there's so much about rosalina that makes sense
22:55that as to why they did that it's because of that scene where she destroys mega leg or she
23:00you know tries to yeah she is stupidly overpowered compared to everyone else in this movie like even
23:08bowser i would say and uh if she was just on the main cast running around with them trying to
23:14stop
23:14bowser they would have to nerf her another way yeah um and i think that's why she was sort of
23:21held as
23:22a power source the whole time because if she wasn't like you saw she broke out of that pod once
23:27and it
23:28was almost over already like she was like throwing hands immediately um yeah she like destroyed it
23:35immediately she was she's she's okay like i get why they did it it does stink because i think she
23:41could have had a lot more going on and i assume she'll have a bigger part in the next movie
23:44or
23:44whatever but i i think it's one of those things where um this movie was doing so much so many
23:53different things so it was just like the power scaling of like a lot of the galaxy you know especially
23:58with rosalina and when you think of like how are you bowser to bowser in in galaxy 2 like he
24:04was
24:04like if you remind me if you remind me correctly didn't he like destroy like a universe or something
24:09like that like so it's just like uh the first game he bowser's reactor he causes a black hole or
24:16like a supernova black hole to appear and then rosalina has to basically reboot the whole universe
24:21yeah which is like it's just like you know so it's it's so interesting how rosalina seems to be
24:29just as powerful she is in in the game like she's just op out of the gate uh but they
24:33just had to
24:34lock her up immediately so this movie could happen yeah i guess it's also really realistic the way
24:39they do it too because she is kicking ass immediately like she's dominating mega leg there's no chance he's
24:45going to win and uh the thing that stops her obviously is bowser jr aiming at the lumas which
24:52is ridiculous but like what a little creep so yeah that made perfect sense to me as a narrative thing
24:59as to why she got caught she had to really like lose focus on the threat and trying to protect
25:04the
25:04children right um but as a whole rosalina was so interesting to me because at the very start when we
25:10start with the storybook and she's got a book about peach the movie hasn't happened yet or i didn't
25:17think it happened i was like oh maybe this is like a like an after the movie i'm gonna tell
25:21you a story
25:21about how we saved the world right but it turns out to be oh i have this book about princess
25:28peach
25:28but we don't tell you why we don't tell you why and then i was like are they setting up
25:34actual
25:34things that i'm like that i want to think about this movie and they they did they did they set
25:42up
25:42a mystery and they actually had like little threads to it i like it does feel like there's moments in
25:47this movie where i could see where a rewrite has happened like i feel like originally this was going
25:52to be a galaxy movie through and through without any other like it was going to be a galaxy movie
25:58starting with the story going like playing out that way like telling a story from rosalina's
26:03perspective um then something changed along the production because yeah it's like immediately
26:10it changes from there and that is something i do want to go into uh because i know it's fresh
26:15on
26:15our minds and that is something i'm dying to talk about um confirming that rosalina is peach's sister
26:22um yeah yeah i was shocked i didn't think we would ever see something like that that was a fan
26:30theory
26:30correct that was never confirmed in any capacity whatsoever right so there's never been any
26:36confirmation but all of her concept art is still very peach like there is obviously she still looks
26:44peach like like even as a kid i was like are they related somehow but nintendo doesn't do a lot
26:50of
26:50story but in rosalina's storybook if we think about galaxy back back up way back which they had to hide
26:57apparently from miyamoto i heard they had to hide that in the game yep which is probably why we don't
27:03have any story in the movies because miyamoto's working on them but uh so the thing about the
27:09storybook is rosalina leaves the earth as a young girl thanks to the lumas she gets stranded in space
27:15and by the time she gets back to earth after traveling throughout the cosmos with the lumas
27:22the earth isn't the same anymore it's like a new cycle almost like a new thing and the things that
27:29rosalina says in this book or the things that are recorded in this book about rosalina's parents are
27:34very like i think they were very specific traits that like they could have been alluded to peach or
27:39they could have been alluded to mario or something so the theory for a bit was that she was the
27:45daughter
27:45of mario and peach and a game theory said it was luigi and peach because of uh certain things but
27:52like i obviously think it was mart maybe the intention was mario and peach and she you know
27:58outlived that cycle of the universe and now she doesn't belong anywhere the yada yada yada so
28:03having this be the connection between her and peach and actually having miyamoto being the one to be
28:09working on it and stuff is actually so cool because it really does give a connection to
28:16all of this stuff from such a long time and yeah it does explain why rosalina not that you
28:22feel silly saying this it explains why rosalina sticks around you know like instead of doing her
28:28own thing right and it is also but it is interesting that this is something the movie touched upon
28:33out of everything yeah you know what i mean like it's like we because we're talking about
28:38maybe i'm wrong on this but from my knowledge when it comes to mario is there's not a lot of
28:44story
28:44in a lot of these games but the one that had the most story is galaxy and the whole story
28:49with the
28:49whole diary and all that stuff is probably that's like the equivalent of like our gerald's journal
28:54you know what i mean it's very uh lore heavy types not necessarily lore heavy but like very
28:59interesting uh lore stuff regarding that her character and like you mentioned before the story of
29:04the game where it had to be like snuck into the game couldn't tell miyamoto because he would have
29:08probably axed it uh because it's not a story guy um but the fact that like this movie glosses over
29:17a lot of stuff in the mario universe but it it goes straight to the core it goes straight to
29:22that
29:23something that is very like i would probably say niche a very niche uh tidbit uh but to get that
29:31confirmation i guess through a movie cool you know interesting it's because in the games obviously
29:37she doesn't need an origin story and neither does mario and neither does luigi or bowser like we don't
29:42need to see where they started for most of these games to make sense right but just thinking about
29:49that in retrospect like there's so many things i could point to and think of now that i'm like oh
29:54well no shit peach is a space god or whatever she can float just by holding like her arms in
30:01the air
30:01and she can like like she she has magic powers in some games just inexplicably she could this is
30:09stupid but in the you know super princess peach she was the only one that could actually control
30:14the main thing of that game like the emotion power up like she was the only one out of everyone
30:20in that
30:20entire game that could actually control her her powers it's so fun to just get something weird
30:27like that because the sonic movies are different right like they're not the same continuity like
30:32nothing they confirm in there like it could be fun little headcanon stuff like you know maria teaching
30:37shadow to skate i was like that's yeah you know the cutest thing i've ever seen that's that's actually
30:42a great reason as to why he would skate and use airshoes but you know ultimately that's like a oh

31:17beginning she's there in the end um and it was it was it was cool the ending of this movie

31:24fantastic uh it's it hits on a lot of cylinders great comedy the the big bowser bowser and uh
31:32bowser jr bowser has bones uh you know i really wasn't expecting them to burn bowser's skin off in
31:39this movie yeah that was not expected of that when he fell in the lava dude and bowser jr was
31:45looking
31:45over the edge and like that was actually i felt a little bad about that because the whole the subplot
31:51with bowser actually like coming to like luigi and mario a bit before jr picks him up again i think
32:01was
32:01cut off way too fast because it made it a little bit it's weird they cut that off too fast
32:08and made
32:08them split up and then yeah they didn't really rush bowser i guess they didn't rush him as fast
32:16back to evil as i thought they would but like it's interesting to me that they were trying to do
32:21that yeah i wish we got more because they were a really fun little quartet there for a bit like
32:26if
32:26they'd done some obstacles together that was an interesting part of the movie because i i thought
32:33it was going to be very like cut and dry like oh he's just gonna he's gonna act he goes

32:38he's gonna go bad like very soon but no he's genuine yeah it was genuine i was like wow they're
32:44really humanizing him um i liked it a lot i thought he was gonna stop jr like i thought he

32:55you know it being his son to kind of bring him back into that world uh but no on the

33:02bowser getting melted alive um the moment i saw the axe i was like oh it's gonna play out like

33:09like on the lava like i knew it was gonna happen but um it was so cool though it was

33:16just like i just can't i just can't believe like how many references are in this movie i need a
33:24reference counter like i that would have been me if i was next year game and watch was in the

33:30that was so good i'm so glad they didn't ruin that in the surprise like that would have been so

33:40there were there were like two other people in my theater and when game and what it was there was
33:45two times when the pikmin came out of the tiny olimar rocket i literally went oh like i made it
33:51i was like sorry and then when the fucking game and watch was there and he was beating up bowser
33:57or whatever or he was beating up the dragon i was like the hammer like i literally said get him

34:39too much but they used the sprites for luigi from the super mario all-stars version of the game
34:45which is not the one from mario maker they're different so they went and used those specifically
34:50which is really strange and they made custom rosalina snes sprites oh wow it was very cool
34:57now uh because because i know that you know we're about to uh come up on 40 minutes here
35:03so uh i'm gonna keep it cut because i know this is gonna be a yap session so you know

35:13in the end i will say this movie was great as a fan if you're a fan you're gonna love

38:58because first off the first after credit they showed that already as a teaser to this movie

39:27let's tease the next movie daisy to me i i don't have that much knowledge about daisy
39:34and i'm i i turned to kenny's brother and i was just like what what is so special about daisy

39:41what what what are they gonna do and he didn't know either and he's a huge mario i'm like okay
39:47so dylan i'm gonna ask you huge mario man yeah so what's there like is there a reason for me
39:56being excited specifically about daisy is there like a lore thing there no not really like what
40:02what the thing is with daisy is she was she was introduced in mario land one on the game boy
40:08and you know her sprite was like that is a girl i think you know like that's a woman she
40:13was
40:13essentially like the peach of that game right she was she was just a princess she was just like
40:17the person you saved there was no anything just a different name daisy later on they bring her back
40:22for mostly spin-off it was only spin-off things mario party mario tennis mario sports like all those
40:29things and she's like they characterize her as i mean for a bit she's kind of just like peach for
40:37a
40:37but but then like eventually they characterize her as more bubbly she's louder she's very into the
40:42sports stuff like her animations are really type thing yeah and she has like a sort of a i think
40:49there's some clips of her just being very frustrated and angry and stuff so it's like she she has a
40:53very
40:54different personality from peach she's very much the luigi to peach's mario where peach is the
41:00or she used to be the oh i'm just the princess and you save the princess and it's you know
41:04like i'm
41:05baking a cake but you know luigi was to mario where luigi was like i have a personality a bit
41:11more i have you know more this and that or whatever daisy's kind of like not in my mind
41:17the reason the thing about like her being like a she's obviously a fan favorite character she got
41:22into smash brothers she's been a requested character for plenty of things they put her in
41:27mario wonder because she's a big character like i think it's you know she's there but she doesn't
41:32have anything like there's not any major appearance for her so anything they're gonna do with her is
41:39probably gonna be completely new which is interesting it's like it were yeah it'll be
41:46interesting and it makes me wonder you know will she be like a main character in the next movie or
41:52will she just be like will she just be like rosalina will she just be there for like two minutes

41:57i don't know um i want a sunshine movie i want such a movie they could do that easily now

44:49the the whole intro by the way where we're at the odyssey location in the desert and they
44:54introduce yoshi this movie immediately is like we aren't questioning anything yoshi's part of the
45:01crew now toad is like oh there's a green dinosaur and now he's just part of the crew okay you

45:08this is the most real one i like that yoshi from his very brief time in brooklyn learned enough
45:15social and just awareness etiquette of everything around him that he is basically just fully able
45:21to understand every situation he's placed in with no like questions asked which is really funny no
45:27question because like i seemingly was just bored right like he's only like a couple days yeah they
45:32wanted to just immediately get on the by the way yeah that whole like flashback with yoshi and him
45:40getting chased by the cops crazy that's hilarious but you can tell they are rushing they want all of
45:49the cast readily available as fast as possible but like part of me is like for what like do you
45:56have
45:56a story in mind that you want to tell that you just can't do without all these characters
46:01does that exist in the mario universe i don't think it does so it's like i feel like that's why
46:07part of
46:07me is like worried like i hope this movie is not rushing i hope you know it it knows what
46:13it wants
46:13to do in the future it's not just doing everything all at once now that is definitely where sonic and
46:20mario change like there's a difference in these movies if you like if you like the the universe being
46:26built up slowly and we're talking like two to three characters introduced max you're gonna like sonic
46:33if you like balls to the wall no breaks like go go go show me what i want to see
46:40show me the love
46:41show me this world on the screen mario mario movie is like so interesting because it's so usually the
46:50opposite is opposite sonic is usually the one rushing but now it's like mario is like so it's like yeah
46:57it's like it's so much so that the after credit character was daisy i am i'm just praying for

47:10i don't know why they put fox mcleod and talk about other universes in this movie if they're not

48:39you aren't a mario fan and you go see it on your own yeah bring a marvan i will say
48:43though at the same
48:44time i think the critiques for this movie are valid i think there are things they could learn
48:48for next time i think just because it's mario just because it's nintendo doesn't mean it doesn't
48:52have to have a very surface level story i think they could slow down a little bit they could take
48:56their time in these locations if they if they stayed in some of these locations a little bit
49:03longer built up some of these characters to introduce them more and had a more of an adventure
49:07with us that look in that location people would still have a great time so i'm wondering where
49:12they're going to go from here i literally have no idea i thought i did before i saw this movie
49:16and i walked out having more questions um yeah i guess i have like one one tiny last thing about
49:24yeah this movie compared to the first one i i've seen a couple people say like the first one's
49:29definitely more rewatchable i i think that's probably true just because of how that movie's
49:35laid out it's definitely laid out better than this one it's a bit of a like a like a roller
49:40coaster
49:40like we've been saying it's very go go go go go but the thing is i do want to mention
49:46they did keep a little bit of the elements from the first movie about family and they did tie it
49:53into a couple places like i could see them trying to do a few things here and there like
49:58in the first movie it's obviously about mario trying to find himself and find yeah something to make
50:03his family proud or like make himself proud mainly first and uh that's obviously big family values
50:09big family thing in the second movie we have family mario and luigi it's really played down
50:15they don't really have as many family moments for mario and luigi but they do kind of adopt yoshi
50:19i guess uh we do have bowser and bowser jr which is a really weird thing because he kind of
50:26just
50:26abandoned his son but then he tries to repair the relationship which bowser jr is not even upset about
50:31at all uh so like they had something going there i thought maybe they would have more
50:36back and forth about it but you know it was still family and it's i do think there is some
50:42sweetness to bowser jr like we said earlier being the one to bring his dad back to the side of
50:47pure
50:47evil even though it's opposite character it's a character regression technically i think it's sweet
50:53because it was bowser jr and his father and not to mention kamek is bowser's father technically he
51:00raised bowser so kamek hanging out with bowser jr and bowser which they didn't get much screen time
51:07together in this one yeah is another family thing and then of course we have peach and rosalina being
51:11siblings so that we have this big thing where they're like they seem to really want to like they
51:18want to tell a story about family i think and they they just don't have a story away yeah you
51:23know
51:23like they're hesitant just go farther or like either either it's illumination wants to nintendo's
51:30either tell them no or it's there is none or i will say this or they probably think we wouldn't
51:37care
51:37about these characters actual stories well i'll say this right now we do we would like care that
51:43seeing these seeing some of these characters that are usually surface level more humanized
51:47and put more depth into in this it's what makes the movie special for what little they have great
51:54what little they have and uh unlike i would say like sonic movies that have like a set lore for
52:00each
52:01character where if the movies don't really follow a certain script people would hate it mario movies
52:06are the opposite where these characters are service level a lot of them are kind of like a blank canvas
52:11you kind of have a bit of uh creative freedom to like make something out of nothing uh make something
52:18unique uh or something that people would like more i think confirming that rosalina is uh is uh
52:26princess peach's sister was a great example of that and i would love to see more stuff like that in
52:32the
52:32future in whatever the hell conglomerate movie they're making next time i mean honestly too like
52:38they actually like we were just i was just talking about it but they they even gave mario and luigi
52:43a
52:43full family in the previous movie like not even to ignore that they have a full family and they all
52:48have names full on yeah like so it's like i love that yeah so yeah they should it's okay to
52:55do more
