E.1027 is what happens when a design masterpiece meets a famous ego. In 1929, Irish designer Eileen Gray builds a quiet, razor-sharp house on the Côte d’Azur. She calls it E.1027, a code made from her own initials and those of Jean Badovici, the person she built it with. The place doesn’t beg for attention. Then Le Corbusier stumbles over it and instantly can’t stop thinking about it. Later, he covers the walls with murals and shares photos like he discovered the concept of ownership. Gray calls it vandalism and demands the murals be taken down. He ignores her. Instead, he puts his own Le Cabanon right behind E.1027, and suddenly the story belongs to him. It’s a sharp film about how men try to take control of female expression. Spoiler: it works, unfortunately.

Gemeinsam mit Jean Badovici setzt sie es durch. Dann kommt Le Corbusier. Er entdeckt das Refugium und ist nicht nur fasziniert, sondern bekommt eine Art Obsession. Später lässt er die Wände mit Malereien zupflastern und veröffentlicht Fotos, als wäre das alles selbstverständlich. Gray nennt das Vandalismus und will die Entfernung. Passt aber nicht in seine Pläne. Er stellt einfach sein Le Cabanon direkt dahinter, und zack. Die Deutungshoheit bleibt bei ihm. Genau darum geht’s: weiblicher Ausdruck gegen männliche Kontrolle, inklusive bitterem Nachgeschmack.
