00:02A delightful Easter Wednesday evening to all. Proud Filipina Ayas Martinez here who's pleased to bring you PTV News Now.
00:09And tops on our stories for this evening.
00:12The War of Israel and the United States against Iran has exposed one clear and unmistakable lesson.
00:18A shift to renewable energy sources from fossil-based fuel in urgent order.
00:23And today's news, the surge in the price of diesel fuel at the pump left no doubt of a country
00:28needing to wean itself from crude oil and petroleum-based fuel
00:32and transition to clean and renewable energy sources.
00:35Leading proponent of the switch to renewable energy resources and director of DOE's Energy Policy and Planning Bureau, Michael Sino
00:43-Cruz,
00:43said the government has to switch to renewable tops on its energy policy agenda and eyes renewables
00:49to account for 35% of the country's power generation by 2030 and 50% by mid-century or 2050.
00:58Furthermore, the raging and worsening Mideast war and energy crisis has made the case for electric vehicles
01:05to slowly eclipse or outnumber the internal combustion engine automobiles on the road,
01:11which expects to comprise 50% of all road transport vehicles by 2040.
01:17While Lampaya Gasfield sits, he also said, the DOE is urging for ramped-up investments for domestic oil and gas
01:25exploration
01:26to further slash dependence on imported fuel.
01:31A combined group from the country's armed forces and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command has a job on the
01:36side
01:36that is taxed to perform away from the joint military drills of this year's Balikatan exercises,
01:42putting up school building and extension of an existing one in Quezon Province and Davao del Norte.
01:49The first one in Quezon Province is a two-story classroom building on the grounds of the Villa Reyes Elementary
01:55School
01:56in Quezon Province, which falls under Humanitarian Civic Assistance Initiative and the Engineer Civil Action Program.
02:03The school building project broke ground and received a blessing last Thursday, April 1st,
02:08and is expected to take in at least 570 students from the country and other areas for the next school
02:14year.
02:15Meanwhile, U.S. Indo-Command and AFP forces joined hands-on-you for a community project in a community in
02:20Carmen Davao del Norte
02:22to break ground for a multi-purpose facility under the U.S. and AFP's Engineering Civic Action Program, or NCAP,
02:29and which is tasked with providing humanitarian assistance and disaster response while promoting community development.
02:36Both of the aforementioned construction projects represent a continued working partnership between the two allies
02:42that seeks to reinforce a more positive disaster response and strengthen community resilience.
02:50Over the past five and a half weeks since Israel and the United States decided to bomb Iran and set
02:55in motion
02:56the war in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued several warnings along the deadlines,
03:02which he repeatedly extended for not-so-clear reasons.
03:05But his ultimatum to Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz to cargo traffic,
03:10expressed in a jaw-dropping Easter Sunday message in true social posts,
03:15will have no extension this time, he insists.
03:18So by 8 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday or 8 a.m. Manila Time tomorrow,
03:22Iran will have capitulated or defied Trump's power plant and bridge day warnings.
03:27Although Iran has called the Trump's bluff time and again,
03:30the current leaders of the Islamic government issued a call earlier today to Iranian youths
03:35to go out and form or human chains around power plants and key bridges
03:40still in touch by U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
03:46So that's a wrap for tonight's show.
03:47Join us in you tomorrow evening for another round of major stories here at home and elsewhere
