00:04...of all time, the 1994 San Francisco 49ers.
00:10I'm going to be honest with you.
00:13How can you be number 10?
00:14I did not like you when you was with the 49ers.
00:17You can't play for the 49ers.
00:18This ain't got anything to do with your personal opinion.
00:20Okay, okay, Prime.
00:21You can't bring personal opinion.
00:25Prime, yes you can.
00:27Prime, that's just the way I felt.
00:29And we feel the team that scored more points and more touchdowns than any team in 1994 belongs at number
00:3710.
00:43The average forced a game in the playoffs.
00:45They're going to team regular season and post to win a Super Bowl.
00:50It should be hard.
00:54I think when you're with other teams, there were a certain point where you felt like,
00:57This team can rally to win.
01:00This team can win.
01:01Every time that Steve Young and that 49ers offense got under center in that 94 seed,
01:05every time they won when they didn't, it was actually a huge surprise.
01:09If the offense exploded that season, Steve Young lit the fuse.
01:13In the finest season of his career, Young was named NFL MVP for the second time.
01:19Man, you've got to start with Steve Young.
01:20He was a guy who could literally throw for 300 yards, and he probably won't run for us.
01:24Steve.
01:32And the greatest, Young through 30.
01:43Five touchdowns set the NFL record for the highest passer.
01:50Rating in a single season.
01:51Steve not only was able to throw the ball effectively, they ra-
01:58But really?
01:59How can-
02:05Talk of the 1994 49ers not center around the GOAT.
02:10Jerry Rice playing in his 10th season.
02:14That season, he had a 74% catch rate.
02:17He was just catching anything Steve Young threw at him.
02:20Pretty much.
02:22He really shut everyone up because they went 13-3.
02:28They were the biggest favorites in the history of the Super Bowl.
02:31The Super Bowl was such a letdown because we're in Miami playing the Chargers,
02:35and the first quarter, the game's over.
02:42And he's into the end zone!
02:52They have ripped the monkey from Steve Young's back.
02:55He's like, I have a thing on my back.
02:56It's not-
03:03Scoliosis surpasses if you have a large primate on.
03:11We will never know.
03:12The number nine high-powered offense of all time, the 2011 New Orleans Saints.
03:195,300 passing yards in a season.
03:23That's incredible.
03:24Yeah, Brees has 5,400 76.
03:27And that's what number on this list?
03:29Number nine.
03:30Nine?
03:31See, look.
03:32Drew Brees not getting the credit he deserves once again.
03:35Here we go, Drew.
03:36Drew Brees may be overlooked.
03:42But his 2011 season with Sean Payton and really hitting their stride.
03:54Brees and Payton have been together a long time.
03:57Not many quarterbacks and head coaches have the chance to build a decade plus of continuity.
04:03And that's what Drew Brees and Sean Payton have had.
04:05Since emergency, however you get through there, get to your landmark.
04:09This is Drew Brees, who unfortunately, for some reason, maybe it's because the offensive
04:14scheme that he plays in, never gets mentioned as one of the top three quarterbacks of all
04:19time.
04:19And I understand that.
04:20Drew's numbers from 2011 are staggering.
04:24Seven straight 300-yard passing games, a record 5,347 passing yards, and a stunning
04:3171% completion rate.
04:33Not only is it hard to pull off, but he's completing this, doing it down the field.
04:36So to complete 71% of your passes when you're throwing the ball like that, really one of
04:41the best accomplishments of all time.
04:42Leaping reception is made for the score.
04:45He was so great.
04:47Drew Brees is not so tall.
04:48Well, I'm more taller than Drew Brees, and yet his tosses were so fast and magical.
04:53I love that about him.
04:54Here's Brees, throwing to the bay for the last four, and the last four has taken it in
04:59for the score.
05:02The secret weapon in that offense was the smallest weapon.
05:06At 5'6", Darren Sproul set a season record with nearly 2,700 all-purpose yards.
05:13Because he's so tiny, he's just more aerodynamic than the other guys on the field.
05:18And that's sort of how he gets all of those stats.
05:21It's a hit-up!
05:23Slippery little super smurf!
05:25Darren Sprouls!
05:26The 2011 Saints didn't have the biggest players, but now they stand tall as the number nine
05:31high-powered offense of all time.
05:36The number eight high-powered offense of all time.
05:39The 1981 San Diego Chargers.
05:42Number eight.
05:43Eric Correale, Cullen Winslow as a tight end, the running back, Chuck Muncy, and of course
05:47the great Dan Fouts.
05:49Recite the roster all you want.
05:51This offense was stacked with stats and innovation.
05:56I think statistically, the 81 Chargers, I see why you have them where you do, but what's
06:02the legacy?
06:03You know, I don't know that some of the offenses that you're going to have on this list have
06:07any kind of legacy.
06:08The 81 Chargers have a legacy.
06:10Their legacy certainly was Eric Correale.
06:12Coach Don Correale's aerosol offense was a breakthrough.
06:16And in 1981, it was shattering defenses.
06:19Dan Fouts threw 33 touchdowns for over 4,800 yards, unheard of numbers for that era.
06:25I covered the Oakland Raiders back then.
06:27And the Raiders, with all these great scary guys, John Matuszak and Lester Hayes and Ted
06:33Hendricks, they were scared to death of Eric Correale for good reason.
06:38It was precision passing at its finest in terms of set your back foot, get rid of the football,
06:44and hit the receiver before he breaks.
06:46It was poetry in motion.
06:50This was an incredible offense, but all you ever heard about was Eric Correale and the
06:54Chargers.
06:55Chuck Muncy had 19 rushing touchdowns that year, and he did it while wearing your grandfather's
07:00reading glasses.
07:02Chuck Muncy was the one that made it all tape on his knee to clear his A-race so he
07:07could
07:07sniff more cocaine.
07:09I think he had some help getting to the end zone.
07:12But, you know, 19 touchdowns is 19 touchdowns.
07:15He's running like crazy for 1,000 yards, which was a big deal back then.
07:20It allowed those wide receivers and Kellen Winslow to do all the magic that they did.
07:24Kellen Winslow tricked opponents all season.
07:27The wide receiver in tight end clothing caught 88 passes for nearly 1,100 yards.
07:32This big bodied guy, looks like a wide receiver, moves like a wide receiver, but has a-
07:50The churns set scores of records, but like the heroes of classic drama...
08:00The Chargers went 10-6 in 1981.
08:03They won their third straight divisional crown,
08:05but never did make it to the Super Bowl.
08:08The only thing that stopped the Chargers was the cold.
08:12Riverfront Stadium, Cincinnati.
08:15The AFC Championship.
08:18They played in a game that was minus 59 degrees.
08:21That was the only...
08:23Hey, you still can't injure...
08:25Everything that stopped them.
08:26Plus, they played a six-hour game the week before against Miami.
08:29Probably one of the most exhausting games.
08:31Kellen Winslow being taken off the field with his teammates.
08:35So, it was a lot to ask.
08:37Playoff suckers aside,
08:39the 81 Chargers not only made their mark on our list,
08:42they made their mark on offenses for years to come.
08:46Did you know that the Cowboy team
08:48that won Super Bowls 27, 28, and 30
08:53won with the same offense, essentially,
08:56as the Chargers teams from the early 80s?
08:59Same numbering system.
09:03They changed a lot of what...
09:06Adjusting for the area,
09:07they should actually be hired.
09:13It's an offense that was obviously...
09:16Father's normal cup of Ovaltine.
09:18And that is what makes...
09:24...them, the number seven high-powered...
09:26The Rams were a little bit different.
09:30The Rams, in 1950,
09:33they had two quarterbacks,
09:34they had Norm Van Brocklin,
09:36and they had Bob Waterfield.
09:39The Rams, led by Bob Waterfield,
09:41make their appearance.
09:42Two all-famers.
09:43One of them started six games,
09:46and they would rotate in and out,
09:47and they had a very prolific...
09:54Doing the damage.
09:55They really brought the passing game
09:57into the 50s.
09:59Without the 1950 Rams,
10:01there's a case to be made that
10:02the passing game doesn't take off
10:04as much as it could.
10:05Again, it's Van Brocklin.
10:06I feel like they did,
10:09but they didn't.
10:10because people in the 50s
10:13were so stubborn,
10:14the old NFL guard,
10:17that they didn't pick up on that
10:19for another 30 years.
10:24But they tried.
10:26Throwing the leather
10:27for the famed Los Angeles Rams.
10:29It was something exciting.
10:30It wasn't like
10:31boring old football,
10:33here's Steve Van Buren
10:34running four yards.
10:35Bob Waterfield
10:36and Norm Van Brocklin
10:37just slinging that rock.
10:39Van Brocklin gets off
10:40a tremendous heap.
10:431950 Rams,
10:44Bob Waterfield,
10:45Hall of Fame.
10:46They had a young
10:47Norm Van Brocklin,
10:48Hall of Fame at quarterback.
10:49Tom Fierce.
10:50They've got a great
10:51possession receiver in Tom Fierce
10:53who had the record
10:54for the longest time.
10:55He caught 18 balls in a game.
10:56Randy Tom Fierce
10:57gathers it in
10:58on the dead run.
10:59And then they had the burner,
11:01Elroy Crazy Legs Hurst.
11:02So teams just didn't know
11:03how to cope with them.
11:04They didn't know
11:05how to prepare for them.
11:06They didn't know
11:06how to match up with them.
11:07And frankly,
11:08they couldn't.
11:09The Rams' abundance of talent
11:11led to highest score
11:13per game
11:13that has remained unbroken
11:15for over six decades.
11:18They scored 466 points
11:21that season.
11:21That was 100 points
11:23more than the next closest team,
11:24which was the New York Yanks.
11:26They averaged
11:27over 38 points
11:29per game.
11:3038.8!
11:3238.8!
11:34With no player safety rules,
11:35no illegal contact,
11:37right?
11:38Scoring 39 points
11:40a game in 1950
11:40is like somebody scoring
11:4269 points a game
11:43today.
11:44Waterfield reached down
11:45into his bag of tricks
11:46for an old
11:47Waterfield special.
11:52Still the only team
11:53to score 60 or more points
11:55twice in a season,
11:56our number seven
11:57high-powered offense
11:58was a harbinger
11:59of things to come.
12:02If you are really going by
12:03which team was the most
12:05dominant in its era,
12:06there's a good argument
12:07that the 1950 Rams
12:08should rank first.
12:10It was one of the first
12:12true modern offenses
12:13in the NFL.
12:13Bob Waterfield,
12:14the Rams' star passer,
12:16gets off a touchdown aerial.
12:19Touchdown aerial?
12:20Wouldn't that need better?
12:21Offensive of all time,
12:22the 1983 Washington Redskins.
12:25Yep.
12:26They were coming off
12:27the strike year of 82,
12:29and they won the Super Bowl
12:30theoretically that year,
12:31but a lot of people
12:32weren't taking that
12:32too seriously
12:33because of the
12:34shortened season.
12:35For them to come back
12:36in 83
12:37and just go wild
12:38as they did
12:39offensively,
12:40that was pretty impressive.
12:41Not impressive enough
12:42to be in the top five
12:43or the top four,
12:44but nevertheless,
12:45it was impressive.
12:46We agree,
12:48but unlike other offenses
12:49that stormed the league,
12:51the 83 skins
12:52had less lightning,
12:54but all the thunder.
12:55They did it
12:56from the ground.
12:57Mid-30s,
12:58middle-aged
12:59John Regans
13:00going for an NFL record
13:02at that time,
13:0324 touchdowns.
13:07What I remember most
13:08was just the ginormous hogs
13:11of the offensive line
13:12of the Washington Redskins.
13:13I love them hogs,
13:14I love them hogs,
13:16I love them hogs,
13:17I love them hogs,
13:19This was the team
13:20that ran that counter-tray.
13:22You saw them
13:23against the Giants.
13:24Bam, bam, bam!
13:25When John Madden
13:25was doing the game,
13:26it was always
13:27the counter-tray,
13:28the counter-tray,
13:28the counter-tray.
13:31Riggins has been named
13:33an honorary groundhog,
13:35but number 44
13:37is more akin
13:38to a bull.
13:39They were just
13:39a bruising team.
13:40John Riggins
13:41had this ability
13:42to not only
13:43wear down defenses,
13:44but then find that
13:45second gear
13:46in the fourth quarter.
13:50John Riggins
13:51ran for 1,300 yards
13:53and he's already
13:54like 34 years old
13:55at that point.
13:56I just looked it up.
13:57John Riggins
13:58sat out a game.
14:00He could have scored more.
14:01He threw 24 touchdowns
14:03in 15 games.
14:05Riggins stole the headlines,
14:06but this offense
14:07had layers.
14:09It didn't set
14:09an NFL record
14:10with 541 points
14:12three yards at a time.
14:14Joe Theismann
14:14was really good.
14:16We don't give him
14:17enough credit.
14:17The fact that he won
14:18an MVP.
14:19Yes, the running game
14:20was great,
14:20but the running game
14:21wasn't breaking out
14:22any big runs.
14:23That wasn't John Riggins' game.
14:24They got their big plays
14:25outside.
14:26The wide receiver core
14:27was just amazing.
14:28They had Art Monk,
14:30again, a steady presence.
14:32They had Charlie Brown.
14:33He was an elusive player,
14:35a guy,
14:36kind of like,
14:36you know,
14:37he was able to be there.
14:40So they had the fun bunch
14:42and they had a cool
14:43end zone celebration,
14:44which annoyed the Cowboys,
14:45which makes it fun
14:46for everybody else.
14:49I'm enraged.
14:50The fun,
14:50I would have grounded
14:51all of them
14:53or made them
14:54do crunches
14:55or something.
14:56So magical.
14:57Everyone is in unison.
14:59They are like,
14:59everyone,
15:00my hand is feeling
15:01kind of cold.
15:02I need to heat it up.
15:03Will I heat it up
15:04with your hand as well?
15:05And six men said,
15:06yes.
15:10Washington lost
15:11just two games
15:12in the regular season
15:13and may have saved
15:14its entire arsenal
15:15for the playoff opener.
15:17Man,
15:18they go in the playoffs
15:18and they whooped
15:20the Rams so bad.
15:21Washington was so overwhelmed
15:23that not even
15:24a presidential party
15:26could have saved
15:27the Rams on this day.
15:28That's one of the worst
15:29blowouts I've ever seen.
15:30I think it was 51-7,
15:33something like that.
15:34It was ridiculous.
15:35But they scored nine points
15:36in the Super Bowl.
15:37When you're going
15:38through this list,
15:39when you get to the Super Bowl,
15:41that's really something
15:41that stands out to me.
15:42Like,
15:43are you able
15:43to score a lot of points
15:45in the Super Bowl?
15:45That's when you're playing
15:46the best of the best.
15:47It's up to the left.
15:48He fives it off.
15:49They're intercepted.
15:50Jack Spryorak.
15:51Touchdown, Raiders.
15:52So,
15:53I might judge them
15:54a little bit more harshly.
15:55The number five
15:56high-powered all-time
15:57of all-time,
15:58the 1984 Miami Dolphins.
16:02We're...
16:02Marino really airing it out
16:04against us.
16:05Top-heavy
16:06and maybe a little overrated.
16:09Listen,
16:10Marino this,
16:11Marino that,
16:12Duper this,
16:13Duper that,
16:14the Marsh Brothers this,
16:15Marsh Brothers that.
16:17Who...
16:17Who was their running back?
16:19Oh,
16:20Tony Nathan.
16:24All the other offenses
16:25on this list,
16:26I assume,
16:27had at least
16:28solid run games
16:29and pass games.
16:31They just had
16:32a better pass game.
16:34Alleged
16:35disciplined
16:35deep zone defense
16:36by the Rams.
16:37There was no
16:38slowing them down.
16:40I mean,
16:40when they got the ball,
16:41they were going to do
16:41what they wanted to do.
16:42He looks,
16:43lost to the corner
16:44of the end zone,
16:44not for a touchdown.
16:49In 1984,
16:51Dan Marino
16:51became the first
16:52quarterback
16:53to throw
16:53for over 5,000 yards
16:55and set an NFL record
16:56with 48 touchdown passes,
16:58making the Finns
16:59the fifth high-powered
17:00offense of all time.
17:04You know,
17:04we didn't call them
17:05video game numbers
17:06because we didn't have
17:07video games back then
17:08that could put up numbers
17:09like the 1984
17:10Dolphins did.
17:11Marino,
17:12who was just
17:13a different cat
17:13altogether.
17:14We had not really
17:15seen a guy
17:15throw a ball
17:16like Dan Marino
17:16before.
17:17Looks right across
17:18the middle,
17:19he's got Clayton
17:19open,
17:20touchdown,
17:20Dolphins!
17:21And they had
17:22the Marks Brothers,
17:23Clayton and Duper,
17:23both with over
17:251,300 yards receiving.
17:26He's got Duper down there,
17:28he's got it,
17:2830,
17:2920,
17:3015,
17:3010,
17:315,
17:31touchdown,
17:32goal!
17:35This was one of the
17:36first teams that
17:37didn't care.
17:38They would throw
17:39on first downs,
17:40they would sometimes
17:41throw with the lead,
17:42they would throw
17:43vertically on second
17:44and short,
17:44third and short.
17:45The 1984 Dolphins
17:47perfectly fit the profile
17:48of what most
17:49high-powered offenses
17:50are.
17:51They're passing
17:52offenses.
17:53Who led them
17:54in rushing?
17:54Who were the
17:55running backs
17:56on that Dolphins
17:56team?
17:57They had Tony
17:58Neha running
17:58back,
17:59but he was
18:0160 balls.
18:03Mercury Morris,
18:05Larry Zonka,
18:06like I don't know.
18:07Woody Bennett?
18:09Not a name,
18:10I'm sure a lot
18:11of people remember.
18:12Woody Bennett.
18:1460 yards,
18:157 TDs in that
18:16year.
18:17Well who could
18:17forget Woody
18:18Bennett except
18:18for everybody?
18:22There was a time
18:24when an NFL
18:25quarterback,
18:25if he reached
18:2625,000 yards
18:28for his career,
18:29that was considered
18:30the baseline.
18:30Like yeah,
18:31that guy's a
18:31Hall of Famer.
18:32So when Dan Marino
18:33came out and
18:34hit 5,000,
18:35it really showed
18:36that the game
18:36was taking a step
18:37forward,
18:37but also it took
18:39so long for
18:40somebody to match
18:41that.
18:41You know,
18:41that just showed
18:42how out of the
18:43ordinary it was.
18:44Man off
18:44and touchdown!
18:46The 1984 Dolphins
18:48went 14-2 and
18:49are the only
18:50Dolphins team to
18:51score over 500
18:52points in a season.
18:53And although they
18:54weren't perfect,
18:55they are the
18:56number five high
18:57powered offense
18:58of all time.
18:59Here's Marino,
19:00wide open field,
19:01throws for a
19:02touchdown,
19:03and there's the
19:03record!
19:04I mean,
19:04we had never seen
19:05anything like that
19:06the way they threw
19:07the ball in Miami.
19:07That was the best
19:08they've ever been.
19:09Marino gets
19:10another three
19:11touchdown game.
19:12I mean,
19:12I know
19:13the 72 team
19:17Dan Marino
19:18came into the
19:19league and got
19:19good with that
19:20team.
19:20Are you kidding
19:21me?
19:25Vikings.
19:2798 Vikings.
19:28I hope you
19:28caught them.
19:29I got the
19:29four.
19:30Boom!
19:3098 Vikings.
19:31Yes, we are!
19:33Yes, we are!
19:34Yes, we are!
19:35And I was a fan
19:36at this point.
19:37Were we not bad
19:38then, though?
19:38That was a
19:39scary team.
19:40So that year,
19:41Cunningham,
19:42with Carter
19:42and Moss
19:43together.
19:44Imagine those
19:46three coming
19:46together.
19:47You don't have
19:47to imagine.
19:48You just go
19:48to the tapes.
19:51Yup.
19:53Thanks for Randy!
19:55Thanks for Randy!
19:56Goes deep
19:57caught!
19:58First down!
19:59Randy Moss!
20:01This offense
20:02was loaded.
20:03Chris Carter.
20:09First down!
20:10Randy Moss.
20:11Cunningham!
20:12Leaping catch
20:12for Randy Moss!
20:14Jake Reed.
20:15Touchdown,
20:16Jake Reed!
20:16Robert Smith.
20:17Robert Smith.
20:18Look out!
20:19Here he goes!
20:20Pull away!
20:21You know
20:21Randall Cunningham?
20:22Rolling out,
20:23Randall Cunningham.
20:24Huffing,
20:24Huffing!
20:24He got it!
20:25Cunningham on the
20:26keeper!
20:26They were
20:27dominating that
20:28year.
20:28Cunningham,
20:29he looks out
20:29there and he's
20:30laughing.
20:34They call me
20:35the freak,
20:35man.
20:36I'm a freak of
20:38nature.
20:39You're going to
20:39see today,
20:39just keep your
20:40eyes glued to
20:40the TV.
20:42Our number
20:42four high-powered
20:43offense was
20:44loaded with
20:45talent,
20:45but it was a
20:46freak who scored
20:47an NFL rookie
20:48record of 17
20:49touchdowns that
20:50made the 98
20:51Vikings so
20:52special.
20:53Fires deep,
20:54Cat Moss.
20:55Touchdown,
20:56Vikings!
20:56He was
20:58electrifying as
20:59a rookie.
21:00Bomb downfield,
21:01the boss.
21:01Down there,
21:02Juggles,
21:03and caught!
21:04Touchdown!
21:05The reason he's
21:06a first ballot
21:07Hall of Famer
21:08is because the
21:08moment that he
21:09stepped on the
21:09football field as
21:11a rookie for the
21:11Minnesota Vikings,
21:12he was unstoppable.
21:14I mean,
21:14it was backyard
21:15football,
21:16chuck it up,
21:17the quarterback
21:18just throw it up.
21:19He'll just throw
21:20it up,
21:20the guy can now
21:21jump you.
21:23Vikings!
21:25Leaping catch
21:25for Randy Moss!
21:28Who else is
21:296'4"?
21:30If he would've
21:31been just a
21:33good jumper,
21:34he would've
21:35still been in
21:36the Hall of Fame.
21:36So for him to
21:37be,
21:39to have that
21:40vertical
21:42was unfair.
21:44It is...
21:47And I'll tell you
21:48guys,
21:49we have the
21:49three teams that
21:50have been 15-1
21:51in the history
21:52of the National
21:52Football League.
21:53Alright?
21:54Give yourselves
21:54a round of applause.
21:59The Vikings
21:59scored 556
22:01points in 1998,
22:03the most points
22:04scored by any
22:05team in the
22:061990s.
22:07However,
22:07the number 4
22:08high-powered
22:09offense is
22:09often remembered
22:10for something
22:11else.
22:13Cuts it out!
22:14Super Bowl!
22:15I was so surprised
22:16when they didn't
22:16make the Super Bowl.
22:18He's done it
22:18all year long,
22:19hasn't missed
22:19an extra point
22:20or a field goal.
22:21He'll go into it.
22:22He makes this,
22:23pretty much this
22:24game is over.
22:25And then,
22:26I think Gary
22:26Anderson was the
22:27kicker,
22:28and he had like
22:28a chip shot
22:29to win the game.
22:3039-yard attempt.
22:32The spot,
22:34the kick by
22:34Anderson,
22:35on the way!
22:36That's no good!
22:37Wow!
22:39And he missed it.
22:40They,
22:41they didn't really
22:43get punched in the gut.
22:44That's not what he called it.
22:45For Viking fans,
22:46Paul,
22:47over the United States.
22:49It never gets
22:50talked about yet.
22:51the special teams line
22:55let three Falcons
22:58rush Anderson
22:59from his right side.
23:00And it's never
23:01shown on film
23:02for some reason.
23:03They let him
23:04get rushed
23:05from the right side.
23:06He had to pull
23:07the kick left
23:07or it would have
23:09been blocked anyway.
23:11And then,
23:12he got run into
23:13after he already
23:15kicked the ball
23:15and it wasn't
23:16a penalty
23:17somehow.
23:20All Vikings fans
23:21still feel haunted
23:22from that moment.
23:23He had to miss
23:24the field goal
23:24the whole season.
23:27The spot,
23:28the kick,
23:28wide.
23:29No,
23:30it's good.
23:31I was hoping
23:32it was wide,
23:33it didn't.
23:34Atlanta going on
23:35to go to the Super Bowl,
23:36they didn't lost
23:37to the Broncos.
23:38They had the ability
23:39to counterpunch,
23:40they had the running attack,
23:41they had everything
23:43except the kicker
23:45who could make
23:46a field goal
23:47in the NFC Championship
23:48game and unfortunately,
23:50that's kind of
23:51ruining their legacy.
23:53Number three
23:54high-powered offense
23:55of all time,
23:56the 2007
23:57New England Patriots.
23:58Yup.
24:00Just overwhelm
24:01opposing defenses.
24:03It was frightening.
24:05The Patriots scored
24:06on their first drive
24:07of the season
24:08and never stopped.
24:10Brady fires to Welcom.
24:11Touchdown!
24:12First touchdown pass
24:13of the season
24:14scored on the first drive
24:16of the season.
24:17It's fun to watch
24:18a professional team
24:19just tell the NFL
24:20to screw off,
24:21tell the rest of the league
24:22to screw off.
24:23We're going to embarrass you
24:24each week
24:25and that's what they did.
24:26This is like a midget league team
24:29stumbled onto the field
24:30against the big boys.
24:32We can say it's a great offense,
24:33but let's just say
24:33what it is.
24:34It's Brady and Moss.
24:35When you have the combination
24:38of Brady and Randy Moss,
24:40football doesn't get
24:41any more fun than that.
24:42Place it!
24:43Direction after Brady
24:44works with the players.
24:46Touchdown!
24:47Randy Moss!
24:48Touchdown Randy Moss!
24:50The 98 Vikings
24:51and the 0-7 Patriots.
24:53What do they have in common?
24:55Oh right.
24:56Randy Moss.
24:57Randy Moss.
24:57Randy Moss.
24:59Randy Moss looked washed up
25:01for the Raiders
25:02and so the Patriots
25:03as they're known to do,
25:04they got them on a good deal
25:05in the trade.
25:06I was actually hanging out with Moss when he got the phone call from the Patriots telling him that he
25:11had been traded.
25:12Just so much elation came over his face.
25:15It's such a classic Patriots move where you get a guy who's amazing in his career but maybe has some
25:20questions and he's older and saying,
25:22come sign with us for one year or two.
25:27Watching the 07 Patriots was like, you know how bad a team has to be and how good a team
25:34the other team has to be?
25:36For a guy to be happy about going from California weather to Massachusetts weather.
25:45He was happy about my probably having to see snow in September.
25:53You know your team sucks when a guy would rather see snow in September than play there.
26:00Expected touchdowns.
26:01Like anytime they'd kick a field goal, you'd forget field goals existed.
26:05Oh, we kick in this game?
26:07Play action fake.
26:08Tom Brady shoots it down the middle.
26:10It is caught at the 40, 35, 30.
26:12He's going to go all the way.
26:14Touchdown Patriots.
26:16That's a star word.
26:17They were really running up the score on teams.
26:20I remember that game against the Washington Redskins where it seemed unfair.
26:24Looks, starts to run with it.
26:25Now he's going to run it.
26:26Take it.
26:27Get back.
26:28Fires in.
26:28Moss.
26:30They were just running up the score on them.
26:32Touchdown, Wes Welker.
26:35Most poor Redskins.
26:35Like I actually felt bad for them.
26:37I'm like, ah, this is kind of weird.
26:38Like I...
26:39Belichick said after.
26:40I feel bad I wasn't old enough to watch them get run over like that.
26:47Or Super Bowl XVIII.
26:51It's their job to stop us.
26:53What are we supposed to do?
26:59The other thing about those 07 Patriots, their average margin of victory was 25 points.
27:05We are not finished!
27:06We are not finished, fellas!
27:08And sure enough, 16-0, single-season touchdown record for Moss, single-season touchdown record
27:15for Brady, single-season team scoring record in the NFL.
27:19Direct snap to Brady, stands in the pocket, fires it to the right, down the right sideline,
27:24and caught at the 2015-10-5 touchdown Patriots!
27:29Tom Brady to Randy Moss, and they each have set NFL records on the go-ahead touchdown!
27:36And boy, I'll tell you what, it was a combustible, combustible, fiery, just unstoppable duo
27:44until they met the Giants in the Super Bowl.
27:46I'd argue they got combusted in the Super Bowl.
27:53Damn!
27:55And I know it's kind of hard to say, well, it's unfair to judge them on this one game,
28:00but it's like, we're judging the best of all time.
28:03We have to bring in all the information.
28:05So I think it's kind of a fair ranking.
28:08I think that had they won that game, if they had scored 21 points and won that game,
28:13I think, without a doubt, this would be the greatest offense of all time.
28:18But!
28:22The number two high-powered offense of all time, the 2013 Denver Broncos.
28:28I think Peyton Manning made the 2013 Broncos the best offense in NFL history.
28:34We can agree to disagree, and we'll leave the 2013 Broncos as the second best.
28:39Though their numbers are hard to beat.
28:42Go score again now!
28:43More points on the board!
28:44They scored 50 in a game three times and set records with the most points and touchdowns
28:49in a single season.
28:51DT at midfield, and he is long gone!
28:53Peyton Manning was throwing touchdowns like other teams gain, like one yard and a quarterback
28:57sneak.
28:58Manning's 51st touchdown pass of the year.
29:01I mean, he had 55 touchdowns that year, and it wasn't just Manning.
29:06There was an incredible collection of talent around him.
29:09Guys like Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, Demarius Thomas, Eric Decker.
29:13R.I.P. him.
29:14Those guys right there, it has to be a joy to play with Peyton Manning.
29:18All right, that's just one!
29:19All right, you're going to have plenty more of them!
29:22Let's give Noshon Moreno some credit.
29:26He ran for over 1,000 yards, 10 touchdowns, one of only five running backs to do that that
29:32year.
29:33With the all-time leading passer on his team.
29:39Imagine him just having a good quarterback, what his numbers would have been.
29:44Because you know that you're throwing the ball a hell of a lot more than you're going to
29:48run it.
29:49The offense was really designed to Manning's strengths.
29:53Omaha!
29:54Omaha!
29:55Omaha!
29:56Manning had perfected the art of passing.
29:58This was possibly the greatest season for a quarterback ever, and I don't just mean statistically,
30:03I mean intellectually.
30:04He figured out how to play quarterback in a way no one had ever done before.
30:08Especially coming back from these neck surgeries.
30:11This guy looks like he was born again.
30:14Peyton Manning scampers into the end zone.
30:17He was a born again quarterback, and came back from the dead practically, and put together
30:22an amazing season.
30:26Hmm.
30:28Some teams need time to find their stride, but our number two team made it clear from its
30:33very first game that this was no ordinary season.
30:38Seven touchdown passes, opening game against the Baltimore Ravens.
30:41I was there, I saw it, I couldn't believe it.
30:43Manning again to the gun, throws, he's got Thomas again, it's open, and Thomas is into
30:47the end zone, Denver touchdown!
30:49Seven touchdown passes?
30:51Not a bad performance.
30:53Peyton Manning was just picking spots and made it look effortless.
30:57Peyton Manning is hitting everybody.
30:59He's got the time in the world, and his receivers are coming up big.
31:02That was probably the singular game, in my estimation, that Peyton Manning was unbelievable.
31:10I came away from that game going, man, these guys are going to be really hard to stop if
31:14Peyton Manning can stay healthy.
31:19As an Oakland Raider, I didn't necessarily like to see so much success out of the Denver
31:24Broncos, but I was happy to see them lose in the Super Bowl.
31:28And therein lies the controversy, because the number two team on our list not only lost the
31:33Super Bowl, they were downright crushed.
31:38This has got to be a joke.
31:40They didn't even look like they were an NFL team.
31:42The ball is hit, as it comes out, and it's picked up by the Seahawks!
31:46Like, I would be fine not even having them on the list.
31:49I would put the 92 Cowboys on there.
31:51I would not have them at number two.
31:52The first play of the game was a snap over Peyton Manning's head.
31:56First and ten, at his own short team, and the ball goes into the end zone!
32:00Which you just wouldn't expect from a Peyton Manning team or an offense that had been so
32:04efficient all year long.
32:06But that can't discount what they were as an offense.
32:08And for Peyton Manning at that point of his career to put up those numbers with those
32:13weapons, I know this, if you asked any defensive coach in the history of the game or defensive
32:18player, I bet you they'd list Peyton Manning and that offense as the one they'd want to
32:22face the least.
32:23The number one high-powered offense of all time, the 1999 St. Louis Rams.
32:29The gateway to the west is now the gateway to the best in-zone touchdown Rams!
32:35They're scoring the ball every time.
32:38They're going to score every time they touch the ball.
32:40Warner pumps for him, has him as a go down, touchdown!
32:44The greatest show on turf, said all year.
32:45Multi-seasons and just add, they should have put, um, 99 to 2001 Rams.
32:57No.
32:59Touchdown Rams!
33:01It was unbelievable what they could do.
33:03Bruce, Holt, Orlando Pace, Marshall Falk, Kurt Warner coming out of nowhere to become the
33:08MVP.
33:09What a pass by Kurt Warner!
33:12The machine of throwing, he's not mobile, he's just sitting there like on a smithers.
33:17Just insane football that was going a hundred miles an hour and it really caught the NFL
33:23by surprise.
33:25How about that offense?
33:27Yeah!
33:30The 1999 St. Louis Rams are the number one high-powered offense of all time and featured
33:37the greatest NFL fairytale ever.
33:40They go into the season thinking they're going to have Trent Green.
33:42Free agent signing, it looked like a good mix, it looked like this team's going to step
33:46up and be able to do some things and then he goes out with an injury.
33:50Green drops, a great connection to number 18.
33:54Now we've got Trent Green down, we've got Trent Green down in the middle of the field.
33:58Kurt Warner checks in.
33:59We'll rally around Kurt Warner and we'll play good football.
34:03Kurt Warner?
34:04Who's that?
34:05I mean, Seattle Seahawks running back, right?
34:07That's what everybody thought Kurt Warner was.
34:08Top draft pick, Kurt Warner.
34:10Not everyone.
34:12No!
34:13Kurt Warner!
34:13The guy who used to work at the Hy-Vee grocery store down there in University Avenue.
34:18Kurt Warner, who is very nice, he's like, hey, would you like some paper or some plastic
34:22or perhaps some beans?
34:24You know, Kurt Warner, the guy who played arena football and NFL Europe for the Amsterdam
34:29Admirals?
34:30Who's going to think that this one-time clerk at the Hy-Vee supermarket is going to turn
34:36into one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?
34:38I love you, Kurt.
34:39I love you.
34:40You are special.
34:44Warner wasn't the only special player on the 99 Rams.
34:47After a preseason trade with the Colts, running back Marshall Falk became one of the main
34:52attractions for the greatest show on turf.
34:56What an effort by Marshall Falk!
34:58Marshall Falk has left the Falkland Islands and has come over and he is running very nice.
35:04He's amazing.
35:05Marshall Falk was the key to that offense because the ability to be a 100-yard rusher and a 100
35:11-yard
35:12receiver in the same game was a threat every game with Marshall Falk.
35:16Falk finished the 99th season with 1,048 receiving yards, the second most for a running back
35:22in NFL history.
35:24It's the Warrior, man.
35:25It's the Warrior.
35:26It's working, Doc.
35:29The great Sean Turf just came at you in so many ways with the genius Mike Martz and all
35:33of his crazy plays.
35:34Just added to their weaponry.
35:36Down off that again, Kenny.
35:38Pass play for sure.
35:40Water takes off.
35:41Touchdown!
35:43I don't know who feels more foolish.
35:46Me or the Falcons defense.
35:48Some of the offenses he drew up would make the hair on your neck stand up.
35:52I mean, it was exciting football.
35:53You know, they had multiple levels of the field in play.
35:56They had deep receivers.
35:58They had underneath guys.
35:59And they had stuff that you just didn't see other teams doing.
36:04Play action.
36:06Fakes the end around.
36:07Water throws down the middle.
36:08He's done up here!
36:10Touchdown, St. Louis!
36:11You really felt like you were looking at offense executed at the highest possible level.
36:18Touchdown, Rams!
36:22All right, guys.
36:24Last play in the game!
36:25Although a defensive stop gave St. Louis their first Super Bowl title...
36:30Reaches to the goal line!
36:31No!
36:32He falls at the one!
36:33Didn't make it!
36:34Didn't make it!
36:35That's it!
36:36We won it!
36:37Woo!
36:38Woo!
36:38The super season ends with a Super Bowl victory!
36:42The legacy of the 99 Rams remains as the team with the number one high-powered offense of all time.
36:49Look out!
36:50Rams!
36:51One play, one score, and they lead it!
36:54It was the first season of three seasons in a row that they scored over 500 points.
37:01To me, the 99 Rams are the greatest offense in NFL history.
37:05We're still comparing other teams to the 99 Rams.
37:09Our countdown is complete, but the debate lives on.
37:13There are some who didn't like our list, and their opinions were as high-powered as the teams themselves.
37:19I know that the 1999 St. Louis Rams version is the number one team on this list.
37:26They average less points per game.
37:28You have the Broncos of 2013 ahead of the 07 Patriots.
37:31That's a little bit of a stretch, I think.
37:33I'd argue Vikings too, but...
37:36First of all, the two best, though, is the Chargers and the Rams, because it's right there in the name.
37:41They're Ram-
37:43And they're charging.
37:45Say, the Packers.
37:47We don't even know what that is.
37:49Fifty-year.
37:50How long have they been playing?
37:52Well, one, they were playing 98 years when this came out.
37:58It's named after the Green Bay Packing Company.
38:00We still don't know what that is.
38:03Browns.
38:04Good luck.
38:05Named after Paul Brown, the owner.
38:09Anybody who doesn't know who Paul Brown is, shouldn't be on an NFL show.
