00:00You were at practice. Kind of give us the ice tea on why the franchise decided to part ways with
00:06Waw and what that first practice felt like.
00:09I think over the last week, this sort of went from something that was an outside chance to something that,
00:16you know, on Saturday night, leaving the building in Carolina felt like, hey, there's a real chance that this could
00:23happen.
00:23Because Patrick Waw seems to have lost the room and lost the ability to motivate guys and have players playing
00:31for them.
00:32You know, if you watch this team over the last few games, they seem to just not have the urgency
00:38or the desperation that they really needed at this time of year.
00:42And it was hurting them badly. They're out of a playoff spot right now. They don't control their own destiny.
00:47And this was a team that had been in a spot uninterrupted for three and a half months.
00:52So, you know, Matthew Darsh felt that he had to do something, that this was the time to do it.
00:57Practice today, definitely a different tone, you know, a little more intense, you know, high spirited, kind of all those
01:05things you probably expect with a new coach.
01:07And, you know, the explanation for Matthew Darsh was probably a little bit less harsh of a version of what
01:14I just said.
01:15You know, he felt that this team needed a new voice.
01:19He made the move with the long term in mind and Peter DeBoer is signed for longer than just these
01:26next four games.
01:28But he also felt that doing this now was going to maximize the Islanders' chances of making the playoffs.
01:33So, you know, he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt
01:33that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he
01:33felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that
01:34he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt
01:35that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he
01:35felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that
01:35he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt
01:35that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he
01:35felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that
01:35he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt
01:35that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that he felt that
