00:00I don't believe in telling my story just so you can know my story and feel sorry for me.
00:04I really believe that this procedure and others like it are the new frontier of medicine.
00:11They were able to go into my brain without cutting me open.
00:14Non-invasive.
00:15Non-invasive at all.
00:16It's very, and this focus ultrasound is used to treat many of the types of tumors, cancers,
00:22without the risk of bleeding, without the risk of dying in surgery.
00:25So I'm excited about the possibility.
00:27Terry Crews' wife, Rebecca King-Cruz, revealed her Parkinson's disease diagnosis on The Today Show Monday.
00:34The six-year-old was diagnosed back in 2015, but decided to come forward now
00:39because she recently underwent a new procedure to help with the symptoms on one side of her body.
00:44During a joint interview with her husband, she gushed,
00:46I'm seeing improvement. I'm able to write my name, my dates.
00:50I'm able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years.
00:54The singer noted she will still be in recovery for three months and continue to see improvement over that time,
01:00with a second procedure scheduled for September for the other side of her body.
01:04Rebecca's first symptoms started in 2012, which was a slight numbness in her left foot
01:09and her arm not swinging when she walked.
01:11Her subsequent shaking arm was dismissed by a doctor as anxiety.
01:16She explained,
01:17It's not uncommon with us ladies for someone to call everything stress.
01:21I asked for referrals, and I got them, and it took three years to diagnose me.
01:25Rebecca decided to share her story despite previously not wanting pity before
01:29because she believes we are going to find a cure and wants to tell people about the procedure,
01:34which is currently not covered by insurance.
01:36To watch her write her name for the first time in three years, let me tell you, man,
01:43I don't know what to say. I'm choked up just thinking about it.
01:46Terry married Rebecca in July 1989, and they share five children.
01:50In the sit-down, he got emotional, praising his wife as the superhero and the rock of their family
01:55amid her health struggles.
01:57Rebecca previously beat stage one breast cancer in 2020.
02:01Terry told viewers that watching his wife go through what she went through the last 10 to 12 years
02:05has been very, very hard.
02:07This new procedure for Parkinson's patients uses a new device to deliver ultrasound waves
02:12to specific areas on both sides of the brain.
02:15They're guided by MRI to target the areas thought to be involved in the movement symptoms in Parkinson's.
