00:00I guess someone wants to write a 20,000-word essay!
00:04Bring it on. I have a lot to say.
00:06Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most memorable scenes from the beloved Nickelodeon
00:12series as told by Ginger.
00:15In writing that poem, I got a chance to know myself a little better.
00:20Number 10. Miranda's Onstage Confession
00:34In this as told by Ginger's Season 1 Halloween special, Ginger Foutley lands the lead part of Goody Webster in
00:41the school's titular I Spy a Witch musical.
00:44The always icy Miranda Kilgallen, who was up for the same role, isn't happy about being Ginger's understudy.
00:50Having already vandalized the Nathaniel Winslow statue, she takes the opportunity to frame Ginger and get her kicked out of
00:58the play.
00:59Ginger Foutley, I'm afraid I'm going to have to suspend you from school, as well as this fine musical production.
01:07Meanwhile, Carl desperately tries and fails to give his mom a good scare.
01:11He summons his deceased partner in crime, Maude, who not only scares Lois, but also provides photographic evidence of her
01:19daughter's innocence.
01:19The wild episode ends with Ginger and her classmates berating Miranda onstage via song until she confesses.
01:27You want to know the truth? It was me! Not Ginger Foutley! Me! I did it! I turned that stupid
01:34statue of Nathaniel Winslow into a witch!
01:38Number 9. Lois Dumps Buzz
01:49Shortly after having her second child, Lois Foutley was abandoned by her husband, Jonas.
01:55Afraid that her mom will stay single and ultimately die alone, Ginger desperately tries to get her to date.
02:01And when Buzz Harris enters their lives, she's determined to keep her mother in the relationship.
02:07However, Lois and Ginger don't realize they're both miserable living with Buzz and his unruly sons, Junior, Junior Senior, and
02:15Rhesus.
02:16When you showed up at 6am in your underwear for Saturday morning cartoons, I said fine.
02:21Well, first I said ew, but then I said fine.
02:24Boys will be boys. Can't change that.
02:27While the three boys and Carl regularly destroy the Foutley home, their dad is fixing things around the house without
02:33consulting his girlfriend.
02:35Lois eventually reaches her breaking point with the disastrous relationship.
02:39I was able to stomach your man's touch when it came to my lighting fixtures, faulty plumbing, and major household
02:44appliances.
02:45But not when it came to the rest of my life, so I guess this is goodbye.
02:51Seeing her finally send Buzz and his kids packing is oh so satisfying.
02:56And honestly, a huge relief, even for viewers.
03:00Number 8. Ginger and Hootsie's Sleepover Saves
03:03I'm having a slumber party this Saturday night and I want you to attend.
03:07Where's Carl? I need a word.
03:10Doghouse round back.
03:12So, can you come to my soiree?
03:14When Courtney Gripling and her brother Blake decide to throw their own sleepovers for the first time, unlikely duo Ginger
03:21and Hootsie end up looking out for each other.
03:24Miranda attempts to play the old hand-in-water slumber party prank on Ginger and almost succeeds.
03:30But Hootsie, attending in place of Carl, overhears the mean girl tricksters and removes Ginger's hand.
03:36He then drinks the water himself, a bad idea for a bedwetter, and falls asleep in Courtney's room.
03:42In the morning, Hootsie wakes up to the party hostess and her guests, ridiculing him for wetting the carpet.
03:48Ew, Courtney's fluffy white carpet.
03:52My tartan bathrobe!
03:54My slumber party! Ruined!
03:58Ginger jumps to his defense, calling out Courtney in the process.
04:02Seeing her and Hootsie become each other's saviors is a touching moment we won't forget.
04:07You're my hero.
04:09Oh, Hootsie was the hero.
04:12Yeah, Hootsie. You saved me from Miranda's trick. Thanks.
04:16Number 7. Ginger stops Dodie from embarrassing Courtney.
04:20If there's one thing most as told by Ginger fans agree on, it's that Dodie Bishop is a terrible friend.
04:26She's really a not-so-great person in general, which is why her becoming the new morning announcer was a
04:32big mistake.
04:34Luckins, I solemnly promise to uphold the dignity of this prestigious position. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
04:41When there's a lice outbreak at the school, Dodie announces that Ginger's mom is the knit nurse and later gets
04:47her hands on a list of students confirmed to have lice.
04:51As she reads off the names over the PA system, Ginger springs into action and prevents Dodie from exposing Courtney.
04:58Ah! Courtney!
05:00Oh! Oh! Ginger! You have totally destroyed my big moment!
05:05Your big moment humiliating people?
05:07She not only calls her out for being a gossip, but when Dodie eventually apologizes, Ginger makes sure Dodie understands
05:15just how sorry she should be.
05:17We'd love to see it!
05:18I really am sorry.
05:21Yeah, I feel like such a jerk.
05:24Okay, I got out of control. I guess it all went to my head and some other Dodie took over.
05:32Number 6. Courtney stops Miranda's operation.
05:35Season 3's three-part premiere episode has a few different stories going on, like Ginger and Darren's first kiss.
05:42I think I might be madly in love with you. That's why.
05:47What?
05:49But there's only one way to know for sure.
05:57However, it mainly centers on Ginger's acceptance into an elite private school called Avalanche Arts Academy,
06:04and Miranda's continued animosity towards her nemesis.
06:07And because she's always doing the most, she teams up with Mipsy and devises a plan to keep Ginger and
06:14Courtney apart for good.
06:15But when Courtney, Macy, and Dodie find out about this jealousy-fueled plan,
06:20Miranda finds herself on the receiving end of Courtney savagely using her own words against her.
06:25Your best friend has moved on, so why don't you?
06:31That was cold.
06:33After they tell Ginger the truth about everything,
06:36Courtney jumps at the chance to be admired and sprints off to see her attention-seeking stalker... er... friend.
06:43Toodles! Oh, and sorry, it's just that those girls will... they need me.
06:50Number 5. Ginger's Graduation Speech
06:53It's funny. I always thought I couldn't wait to grow up.
06:57Turns out... I can.
07:00Most, if not all, episodes of As Told by Ginger have emotional moments,
07:05some even in tearjerker territory.
07:07This two-parter from the show's third and final season sees Ginger and her classmates graduating from junior high.
07:13You look hot.
07:17Figured it was time to kick it up a notch.
07:20You know, we're almost not in junior high school anymore.
07:22She's tasked with making a speech at graduation
07:25and struggles to find something uplifting to say when she's terrified of change in impending adulthood.
07:31But a one-on-one with her dad, Jonas, puts things into perspective.
07:35His butterfly analogy inspires Ginger to give her fellow graduates a moving send-off about transformation.
07:41You can tell a butterfly your wish, and it will take that wish up to the heavens and grant it
07:47for you.
07:47I taught her that.
07:49So make your wish, butterflies.
07:52All of you!
07:57Number 4. Saving Courtney from a de-bikini-ing
08:00Courtney and Macy may not have a lot in common,
08:03but they both have a knack for the French language
08:06and get the chance to attend an advanced class at Lucky High School.
08:09We happen to be advanced pre-teens on our way to high school French class.
08:14Isn't that true, Brigitte?
08:16Ob. Ob. Oui.
08:18See? We're gifted.
08:20Courtney makes an impression on her older classmates, Chantal and Andrea,
08:24who don't like her because she isn't afraid to stand up to them,
08:27and for being flirty with Will Patterson, Darren's older brother.
08:31You know, some of my favorite people in the world have pools.
08:34Well, what a coincidence! I have a pool!
08:38As high school mean girls do,
08:40they plan a particularly cruel prank to embarrass her at Macy's pool party
08:44by removing her stuffed bikini top.
08:46After they threaten her to keep quiet,
08:49Macy reluctantly tells Ginger and Dodie,
08:51and together they stop Courtney from being exposed.
08:54Macy heard Chantal and Andrea talking about you?
08:57Ginger!
08:58You're starting to sound like Miranda!
09:00There is no reason for you to be jealous of my new high school friends!
09:03As a bonus, Will insults Chantal and Andrea for ruining the party.
09:08Number 3. Ginger tells off Mrs. Grimley
09:11One of our favorite things about Ginger Foutley is that she isn't afraid to call people out on their actions,
09:17including exceptionally awful adults.
09:20While Miss Zorsky is out sick, a substitute teacher takes over the class.
09:24As far as substitute teachers go, I'm your worst nightmare.
09:29And if you think it's going to be a party 24-7 while I'm here, think again!
09:36Mrs. Grimley is nothing like the kind, supportive educator they're used to.
09:40She is strict and doles out punishment essays on a whim.
09:44For that violation, you three girls will write a 16,000-word essay on the invention of the cotton gin!
09:51That's inhumane!
09:53I don't even know 16,000 words!
09:55Ginger doesn't join in on egging and teepeeing Grimley's house with the other students,
10:00but after literally taking the hit, she realizes this miserable woman has no redeeming qualities.
10:06Ginger defies Grimley's seating arrangement, challenging her to assign another essay,
10:11and lays into her for being a terrible excuse for a teacher.
10:15You, Mrs. Grimley, are no Miss Zorsky!
10:21Last time I checked, substitute teacher meant a teacher in place of another teacher,
10:26not a person pretending to be a teacher.
10:29Naturally, the epic takedown lands her in detention, but it was so worth it.
10:34Number 2, Little Seal Girl.
10:36We're planning something really spectacular, Courtney.
10:39Here's a hint.
10:41Arf, arf, arf, arf!
10:43I'm sorry, I don't follow.
10:45The Little Seal Girl, silly!
10:46When Lucky Junior High puts on their annual talent show,
10:50BFF trio Ginger, Dodie, and Macy agree on a skit about their childhood fave,
10:55The Little Seal Girl,
10:57but later decide on performing an interpretive dance.
11:00When Courtney and Miranda make fun of them,
11:02Ginger and Dodie back out, feeling like it's too childish.
11:06All in favor of ditching The Little Seal Girl for an act that's slightly more mature,
11:17On the night of the show, Macy performs the song and dance on her own,
11:21taking center stage.
11:23Even an unforgiving audience and a ruined cassette tape don't stop her.
11:27Dressed in her DIY Little Seal Girl costume,
11:30she wows the crowd with a touching performance.
11:44Macy wins over the audience, including the snarky ones,
11:48and takes home the big prize.
11:50However, making up with her besties is the real prize.

12:10Number 1. Ginger's Poem
12:22This season 2 Emmy-nominated episode of As Told by Ginger
12:26is a favorite among fans and critics alike.
12:29When Ms. Zorsky tells her students about a creative writing contest,
12:33Ginger gets to show off her aptitude for storytelling with her poem,
12:37and she was gone.
12:38But the writing is so deeply moving
12:40that a worried Ms. Zorsky refers her to the school's psychologist, Dr. Leventhal.
12:45There are some very heavy feelings in this poem.
12:48Feelings that should be discussed.
12:50But it's fiction.
12:52It's creative writing.
12:54I don't understand.
12:55What did I do wrong?
12:57While they're both valid to be concerned
12:59that the melancholic character's dark thoughts reflect Ginger's own mental health,
13:04Lois admires her daughter's talent and emotional maturity.
13:07The beautiful writing and visuals are two of the best things about the episode.
13:12But we can't forget Lois' crucial advice for Ginger.
13:16Something people of all ages should hear.
13:18You don't have to be afraid of your feelings.
13:21Ever.
13:22No matter what they are.
13:23And no one knows you better than you know yourself.
13:26So don't let people try to convince you that you're someone you're not.
13:30Even if they do have a PhD.
13:32Did your favorite As Told by Ginger moment make the list?
