00:00Welcome back. The UAE says any settlement to the US-Iran war must guarantee safe access through the Strait of
00:07Hormuz.
00:08Diplomatic advisor to the UAE, President Anwar Gargash, says the strait cannot be held hostage,
00:15warning against a ceasefire that leaves the root of causes of instability unresolved.
00:22He added that any deal that fails to address Iran's nuclear program and missile capabilities
00:28could lead to a more dangerous and volatile region.
00:32The UAE has been pushing to reopen the strait and is the only Gulf state so far
00:36to signal its willingness to join a multinational force to secure the waterway.
00:42It is also backing Bahrain's call at the United Nations Security Council
00:46to allow member states to use all defensive means necessary to ensure safe passage.
00:52But the vote has been postponed with the resolution facing opposition from China and Russia,
00:57which warn it could escalate the conflict and are instead calling for a ceasefire and political dialogue.
