00:09Hello everyone, I'm Liam Rivera. We're here to analyze my from yesterday at the
00:13Yeti Extreme. Analyze with Jaclyn, who was one of the judges yesterday. In the
00:17morning before the comp I was feeling a bit nervous actually, but then actually
00:21at the start gate I was feeling a bit more calm. I chose start three mostly
00:26because of the line. I think the line I did was one of the lines that really stood
00:31out to me with the snow we have. Good opportunity to go give it a go. When they
00:34called the ten seconds I told everyone was like on the ridge like their quick
00:38little good luck and the wave. I didn't really know exactly how to drop in. I
00:42kind of just slid in which was not very cool but whatever. I'm riding in with you.
00:47Then here I tried to push a bit of the slough this way so it doesn't go on this.
00:54I tried to jump there. I knew that there was this and this rock from before the
00:58snowfall. I kind of wanted actually to avoid this lower traverse which the
01:02other snowboarders took so it was perfect that I had fresh tracks for the other one.
01:05I did think it would be pretty cool to air. I thought I would air more but it ended
01:10up being just a little thing but I just thought it would be cool to air. Yeah the
01:14turn was really deep snow so it's blue in my face which I didn't really want that.
01:19And then I had this same takeoff. I saw both of the guys before me took it.
01:23Slightly more riders right and I knew I was going riders left after the cliff
01:27anyway so I thought more fall line would be better for me. This worked out
01:31perfectly actually. Exactly the angle I thought was a bit bigger than I
01:34expected and I was so happy with the turn after as well. I also expected it to be a
01:38bit harder and then this came so much quicker than I thought. I was thinking about
01:41maybe jumping over the little wind lip. Couldn't release it up for much more and the snow was so good
01:47in there.
01:47That was really nice. And then came up to my little backy. I knew that there was this
01:52little like wind lift before as well so I wanted to really get on the spine and I
01:58knew or I saw from the top and the drone images that it had like a nice kick to it.
02:03The plan was to flip it. I saw the forerunner where that went was looked great so
02:08yeah it went exactly as planned like nothing more to say. Then yeah just break
02:15it's been under control in the last last air. This is so blind. Yeah yeah this was
02:21quite bad but it was nice to see that rock as an anchor and then I knew that this
02:25had like a kind of a spine. I knew that the trajectory was following fall line of
02:30this spine. I won't hit any rocks in theory. So I'm yeah kind of just oriented on
02:40that spot which was my trajectory and then yeah here's a little spine so I just
02:44followed that trajectory. A little sniper landing in there. It actually worked out
02:48great again and happy when it when the runs work out as you plan them because I
02:53feel like that's not always the case. Hold on. Always the little bonus airs for
02:59that's for the judges. I thought this was kind of surfy. Fun little slash. Honestly
03:06very happy just to have landed my run. I knew it was probably a good run. I don't
03:11know if it was necessarily going to win. It can be anyone's day you know so I knew it
03:14was it has potential to be a good run. I was really just relieved. Other than that
03:18I was happy I landed and it worked out. Liam starts up at the top of the run. Each
03:23rider always starts with 50 points. So kind of starting with a clean slate. It was cool
03:27to see him wave to his friends and kind of gain that camaraderie. It was really
03:32cool to see Liam go from start three. Start three was very exposed and it has
03:37some really cool features going down below. When Liam drops in it's a teeny bit of a
03:42little slower so we maybe minus two points for some fluidity. We see him
03:47cutting over to this mandatory Ducro air which always excites the judges a
03:51little bit. Liam kind of gained a bonus point for hitting the air above this Ducro
03:56feature. I loved Liam coming in here because he's able to add a little bit of
04:00fun and playfulness before this big air especially in such a steep and exposed
04:05area. That was pretty cool for the judges to see and always gets you excited for
04:10what's to come in the run. Coming into this air Liam has a very clean turn so he
04:14gains about four points for the fluidity above this Ducro feature. Coming into the
04:20feature he has no hesitation which is really awesome and then coming off the
04:24feature and landing cleanly. Gained him 15 points for this full action. He has a
04:30very nice turn here. Holds his fluidity really well coming into the next features.
04:36For this clean turn Liam gains about three points coming across to his next air
04:40for his fluidity and commitment moving down the face. Coming into his next air
04:45Liam holds his fluidity which is really awesome and comes straight into this next
04:50feature. This feature gains him about five points and then he does a backflip. We
04:56considered the backflip to be pretty much perfect execution with no issue in the
05:00landing at all which doubles the points of the feature gaining him 10 points for
05:04that full action. So it was really cool to see Liam land his backflip and then
05:10immediately gain control and head over towards the bottom feature that he was
05:14looking for. This zone is very blind and he's able to navigate it perfectly. There were no
05:20tracks. Liam was the first one to come in here which is always really cool to see. For
05:24this fluidity coming into this bottom feature he gained two points and then
05:28coming into the bottom feature this one ends up giving him about 10 points. It
05:34was really cool to see him land in such a well calculated spot and then flowing
05:39into the bottom here for his fun little bonus that he said the judges liked. We did
05:43like it which he gained two points. Coming down to the bottom that would have
05:48given him a total of 96 points for his final score leading him to win the day.
05:53Throughout the day the judges are looking for five different criteria and I
05:57kind of think Liam's run was the whole package. He had clean execution throughout
06:01the other whole run. He was able to find features throughout the whole thing
06:05adding the air and style with a really good backflip and kind of having the big
06:10mountain free ride element of the two cliffs at the top and the bottom making it a
06:14full package run and clearly the winning run of the day.
