00:11it wasn't just a missing woman it's a missing woman with a two-week-old baby they weren't able
00:19to confirm her whereabouts that morning but anything past that was a huge mystery my first
00:24thought was what did he do to her what has he done when people become obsessed they can escalate to
00:31murder every one of her friends are possible suspects police have a very small window of
00:38opportunity before something really bad could happen the smell of decomposing flesh is coming
00:45from the trunk of the car no one would have expected this kind of an outcome this is not a
00:51crime of passion there was something that was thought out deliberately to lie for nine months
00:57is ruthless it's calculated it's evil to plan this it's disturbing it's insanity
01:21austin is the capital of texas it's a very safe city compared to other major metropolitan cities
01:27and really the crime problem there is more of lesser crimes petty crimes misdemeanors
01:37but on december 12 2019 a patrol officer takes a missing person report
01:44someone named shane curry calls the austin police department and let him know that his fiance and his
01:50baby who was two and a half weeks old they're missing that right away is going to send us to
01:55another level of concern so they immediately call for the on-duty detective in the missing persons unit
02:03when investigators arrived on scene they meet shane who had called the police that night and he said
02:09his fiance heidi broussard was a 33 year old beautiful mother of two they had a son silas he's
02:16six years old and a precious little baby girl who was two and a half weeks old named margo
02:21their son silas was home with shane only heidi and newborn margo they're missing
02:28what's really important in missing people cases is when's the last time the person was seen
02:34you always start to search there so shane laid out the timeline
02:40he told investigators that day started out like most normal days shane got up about 6 a.m
02:47and he got ready for work and he left for work about 6 30. heidi ended up getting up with
02:51both
02:52kids and was getting silas ready to go to school that morning heidi called him at 8 30 that morning
02:57after leaving the school she said she had dropped off their son that's the last time that shane spoke
03:04to heidi shane gets back to his apartment about 2 30 after he's done working for the day
03:12shane finds the apartment completely empty no heidi no baby he initially thought maybe she had
03:20just taken the baby and was visiting somebody in the apartment complex so he starts looking around
03:27and he notices her vehicle in the apartment complex ends up going to her vehicle and finding
03:32it unlocked inside is her purse her wallet and a few other items that heidi would never leave behind
03:40one thing missing was her cell phone shane told us he called heidi gets nothing but then he realizes
03:50hey i better get to the elementary school to pick up my son shane said he goes to the elementary
03:56school
03:57he picks up his son goes back home heidi does not show up
04:04he started to be concerned on why was she not showing up this is unlike her what happened so he's
04:12calling her repeatedly and her phone is just going to voicemail
04:16then he starts making phone calls to her friends her family he calls rachel one of heidi's co-workers
04:24and megan one of heidi's best friends nobody has had any contact with her so he tries her cell phone
04:32again nothing so shane said at that point in time and about 7 30 it was really getting concerned so
04:41he
04:41called the austin police department to report her as missing heidi's case was different it wasn't
04:49just a missing woman it's a missing woman with a two-week-old baby police really stepped into action
04:56because of the age of the baby the urgency of finding this newborn as investigators search the
05:02apartment there's no forced entry in the apartment there's no signs of struggle in the apartment
05:08there was nothing out of place there was nothing you know thrown around the room everything was
05:14seemingly normal they didn't find any forensic evidence that a crime had been committed there
05:22but one of the things that concerned the investigators was that shane said that the baby
05:28was having some issues with taking food and there had to be a formula mixture with breast milk
05:34the diaper bag special food are still in the apartment baby margot had health complications
05:41from birth she had jaundice so heidi would have taken this special formula that margot needed
05:47she knows better than to leave all of that behind what woman takes a two-week-old baby without food
05:54without diapers without her purse police would certainly consider the possibility that since she had so
06:01recently given birth there could be a postpartum complication is she depressed is she suicidal
06:07a lot of moms do go through postpartum depression right after having a child but shane told
06:13investigators that heidi was in a really good place she didn't suffer from postpartum and she
06:17was doing really well after the birth of margot at this point we think this is a legitimate
06:23kidnapping of a woman and a baby so austin police and their detectives immediately do a neighborhood
06:30canvas of the apartment complex to see if anyone had seen anything noticed anything strange but people
06:37saw nothing and the apartment complex didn't have cameras at that point in time we did what's called a
06:45reverse 911 where the 911 system actually calls every telephone number in a specific geographic area
06:54to alert them that someone is missing a baby's missing and there was a press conference and heidi just
07:02having a baby it really grabbed our attention heidi and margot were last seen on thursday december 12th
07:09here in austin texas heidi is a 33 year old white female she stands five foot three 150 pounds if
07:16you
07:16see heidi or margot please contact the austin police department or your local law enforcement agency
07:22young mother suddenly goes missing very young baby missing with her the police are concerned about foul play
07:33the reality is that heidi broussard was an attractive young woman with a small child she would be a very
07:40vulnerable victim if somebody were looking for one an eyewitness saw heidi and baby margot getting
07:48inside of a vehicle the address was given out when the raid was announced and oh my god that was
07:55when all
07:56hell broke loose
08:08heidi broussard and her little baby girl who was two and a half weeks old named margot they're missing
08:14and the reverse 911 search called out about 4 000 of the neighbors but no leads were found
08:23the next day on the 13th the austin police detective started talking to immediate family and heidi's friends
08:32my friend rachel she called me and told me that heidi was missing i was just like what do you
08:38mean
08:38she's missing i don't think your brain processes what's really going on but when i was told that she
08:45never picked silas up from school i knew that something was wrong your mind goes up the unanswered
08:52questions is she being taken care of is the baby being taken care of is she being fed are they
08:58cold you
09:00know are they alone you just you don't know investigators want to know all the details about
09:10heidi who was she did she have any mental illness is there trouble at home that led them to leave
09:17i told the police heidi i told the police heidi rocked being a mom she truly rocked it her kids
09:24were
09:24everything to her she would absolutely never leave silas and me knowing the turmoil that her and shane
09:36had been in previously my first thought was what did he do to her what has he done
09:43in my experience the largest majority of the time when things like this happen it's going to be the
09:50spouse the fiancee the boyfriend someone who is close to the victim so of course the police are
09:56going to look at shane first we grew up in lake charles louisiana when heidi was in her mid-20s
10:05she worked at the casino for a while living her best life she was a cocktail adjust and had met
10:11shane
10:11there and fell in love they had one of those relationships it was a little tumultuous it was
10:20back and forth but pretty early on she found out she was pregnant of course the way we were raised
10:28her getting pregnant out of quote-unquote wedlock was definitely not the way you want to tell your
10:35family but she always wanted to be a mom they moved to austin right before silas was born and they
10:43had
10:43silas and nothing else mattered they were together eight years but unfortunately her and shane had broke
10:52up a lot she told me about abuse whether it's financial emotional mental but we all thought
10:59she knows when enough is enough and the last breakup that was it that was going to be it
11:07but then early that year she found out she was pregnant with margo
11:12and she told me she wanted to give it another shot because she wanted her family she wanted the unit
11:19and she wanted her kids to have that come hell or high water she was going to make her family
11:23work
11:26it's not unreasonable to wonder if something had re-emerged from the previous conflicts that they
11:33had had that was now creating strife in their relationship again
11:39next shane was brought into austin police department to do a real formal in-depth interview
11:46through the course of the interviews with shane it was obvious there were some troubles in the
11:50relationship but it's natural to have troubles in relationships shane told the police that him and
11:56heidi were in a good place and tells them there was never any physical abuse and the last time he
12:03spoke with her was the day she went missing she was just leaving silas at school she told him what
12:09she
12:09did at the school and that she ended up getting three books for silas and she was really excited to
12:13be
12:13able to read to him that night so while they continue speaking with shane investigators need
12:20to verify when heidi had last been seen austin police go through the surveillance from her son's
12:26school and they find footage of her dropping off her son for school she ends up getting caught on the
12:33camera at about 8 12 that morning heidi broussard was last seen in this image released by austin police
12:39smiling and wearing a purple sweatshirt her assumption is that they're alive and the sooner
12:45that we can find them the better so they were able to confirm her whereabouts that morning but anything
12:51past that was a huge mystery
12:56now investigators need to find out from shane where he was does he have an alibi in this case shane
13:02said he was at work
13:04his boss confirmed that he was at work all day as he was supposed to be so there was nothing
13:09atypical
13:10about his day shane was very helpful he gave the police his cell phone we could see when she called
13:17him that he in fact had talked to her on december 12th he had already let them search in the
13:23apartment
13:24he let them look at the car so there was nothing he was holding back his alibis checking out also
13:30looking into shane there was nothing that popped up that said there was any domestic violence that
13:36there were any police calls for service at the address as far as law enforcement was concerned
13:41he was not part of heidi b missing so at this point the police have very little to go on
13:50because this child is so young just a few weeks old has some medical complications and just needs basic
13:57needs taken care of investigators have a very small window of opportunity before something
14:02really bad could happen so i called the chief of the austin police department and said hey the fbi
14:09has a lot of resources we can bring we have the card team a group of investigators intelligence analysts
14:17technicians that focus on child abductions one of the things we brought to bear in this particular case
14:25is something called the fbi's child abduction rapid deployment team that we deploy at the request of
14:31our state and local partners whenever a child is abducted our investigators move out very quickly
14:38to start looking very aggressively where could she be where could this baby be we need to find heidi and
14:45her
14:46new baby as soon as possible
14:56heidi and her new baby have been missing for a number of days the fbi card team start looking hard
15:03for heidi after they speak with him on december 13th investigators moved on from shane the next step
15:12once you rule out a spouse or a partner is you start to look at every one of her acquaintances
15:17her family neighbors everyone she worked with and you really have to start digging in
15:23on all of those people as possible suspects investigators learned that heidi was very bubbly
15:32very social and very outgoing she was someone who had a lot of friends and she was like the go
15:40-to of
15:40the group i told the police heidi loves everybody she takes everybody in she didn't see the red flags and
15:48people they said she was very loyal i mean her friends date back from when she was a teen
15:54man me rachel and heidi we were just best friends and we go to church camp every year we met
16:01megan
16:02and caressa at church camp in columbus texas heidi and them became good friends and they've always kept in
16:08touch it's kind of funny when heidi got pregnant with silas we were pregnant at the same time i was
16:18pregnant with my second one and she was pregnant with her first and you know she was so excited we
16:23were
16:23both having boys and when heidi had gotten pregnant with margo her best friend megan was having a baby
16:31too and they were excited to be pregnant together and just to have the same due date heidi was always
16:40the cheerleader when she loved you she loved you and she never let you go no matter where anybody lived
16:48you know she was always the lifeline that kept everybody together so when heidi went missing
16:56i thought it was either shane or definitely a stranger because none of heidi's friends would hurt heidi
17:05i know it's shane i know he did it i know it's him it's got to be like who else
17:10would it be
17:15even though investigators were able to confirm shane's alibi heidi's friends still were kind of
17:22side-eyeing shane just because they knew heidi and shane had a toxic relationship there was a lot
17:28of speculation around him so i wanted to put together a search team i was like we need to go
17:34find her
17:41i became involved in this case when heidi's loved ones called equi search because of her disappearance
17:51that search is involved in volunteer search efforts we don't charge a nickel we'll be part of a search
17:58and helping families we're not part of an investigation but many times we've given them
18:04information that's led to some pretty good results i remember talking to heidi's friends and other family
18:15members i talked to a very close friend her name was megan she was telling me the stories about heidi
18:24and
18:24shane they were having some problems and she says knowing what i know about that relationship it wouldn't
18:32surprise me if shane did something to her and i said he really feels oh he's capable
18:40and megan said he's more than capable she pointed 100 to shane
18:49when we started that search in austin area i met with shane met with shane's dad there was many many
18:56volunteers that wanted to get involved so we put together some atvs and some foot searchers
19:04here in austin there's a lot of different terrain that you go looking through you have
19:09zilker park you have all the green belts you have natural waterways i actually marked spots on maps
19:16that she possibly could have walked to or she possibly could have taken a cab too
19:23shane and i spent a lot of time together driving around kind of looking at different areas
19:30everybody reacts different you know but i never heard his voice sound like he was going to break
19:36down and cry his demeanor just wasn't at all what i thought that it should have been it seemed strange
19:45to
19:45say the least wow we were looking for her we were all talking trying to keep up to date with
19:55everything
19:56but there was no trace i was just like well will this ever be solved because it didn't feel like
20:02they were getting anywhere there were some calls that came in with possible sightings but none of them
20:09ended up being really credible after some of the search efforts that we did we haven't found anything
20:17we don't have anywhere else to go
20:24so next an emergency order was filed with heidi's cell phone company to see was the phone hitting we
20:30call it pinging was the cell phone active and hitting somewhere that request went through and it came back
20:36that her phone was either off or at a battery and it had not pinged anywhere since pinging at the
20:42house
20:42on december 12th the day that heidi disappears so he started canvassing through the neighborhood again
20:49because a lot of times what you find is people see things that they don't know are important until
20:56you really jog their brain this time one witness described a four-door sedan
21:04a light color that she saw go around towards the back where heidi's apartment was then another
21:11neighbor actually remembered seeing somebody with the description of heidi and margo getting inside of
21:17a similar vehicle so we're starting to get a little bit more of a picture of the last time anyone
21:24had
21:24seen heidi but when people are missing you're going down different investigative avenues at the same time
21:30as we interviewed more of heidi's friends a couple of people told us that one of heidi's friends acted
21:36odd during the delivery of heidi's baby so investigators go to the hospital and interviewed delivery staff
21:46the nurse remembered right after heidi gave birth to margo most of the family got to hold the baby well
21:51shane's dad was ready to hold the baby and heidi's friend stepped in and said hold on and aggressively
21:57took the baby from him she acts very possessive with the baby acts very strange in general and
22:04literally takes the baby from the grandfather because she wants to hold the baby
22:11once we got that story of what happened in the maternity room
22:16our behavioral analysis people right away said hey we really got to look at this this could possibly be
22:22a maternal desire type situation maternal desire is a mental state where a woman has an insatiable drive
22:33to acquire a child that's why maternity rooms are so locked down because unfortunately there's been
22:39a number of instances where people have gotten in there and stolen a baby when we heard how heidi's
22:47friend acted with the baby it made us very suspicious about her mental state now we have a suspicious person
22:58our investigators from the card team said we got to go hard on this we need to figure out who
23:04is this
23:05woman and where could she be
23:18the police had talked to the hospital staff where heidi gave birth to baby margo the nurses remember
23:27one of heidi's good friends was acting super possessive over margo right after she was born
23:33police were concerned about the possibility of maternal desire which can turn into something
23:41that is not altogether different from what i would call delusional this baby's mind i need this baby
23:47i must have it when people get into that sort of delusional or semi-delusional world reality doesn't matter
23:57anymore and when people become that obsessed and that divorced from reality that can escalate to
24:05extreme violence it can escalate to murder so investigators decided to take this very seriously
24:12right from the beginning so investigators asked shane who in fact was in the hospital room when
24:19heidi was delivering margo and he mentioned megan megan humphrey which was one of her closest friends
24:27in the hospital room once we identified megan as the woman in the maternity ward with the strange
24:32behavior we start going back and re-interviewing people to say what can you tell us about her
24:38what's her timeline and any of these other pieces we have could it fit back to her
24:49so heidi's friends told investigators that megan lived in houston but they still kept in touch
24:54megan was one of heidi's best friends since their early teens but while heidi and megan were really
25:00close friends most of heidi's friends didn't really love megan when heidi introduced us unfortunately
25:08i got a bad vibe from megan i didn't like her right away but heidi's heart was so pure
25:16she loved everybody so i mean she's been friends with her for many many years according to her friends they
25:23just thought megan was a little weird didn't really click with her could give or take her
25:27but heidi was you know the embracer
25:33through the course of re-interviews asking about megan we find out megan announced she's pregnant not
25:40long after heidi announced she was pregnant when she was told about the pregnancy megan was like we're
25:46going to be pregnant together november 26th the day that margot was born megan came down to austin
25:56megan was about 37 weeks pregnant at this time heidi's friends told police it was remarkable that
26:04she had driven about three hours from houston to austin to be present for the birth of baby margot
26:11and just a few weeks later on december the 8th or the 9th she tells everyone she gave birth to
26:18her
26:18own baby named luna investigators asked her friends did you see a picture of the baby
26:25have you seen this baby and all of them said i haven't seen picture of her wow you're a new
26:34mom
26:34you're proud of this baby and you haven't shown a picture so that was very quickly looked at but
26:42there's no evidence that she had a baby at all and she really starts rising on the list of of
26:49suspects you start doing research and now things start to click she actually has a four-door light
26:57colored sedan like the car that somebody saw heidi and the baby get into in the parking lot when they
27:04went missing investigators start looking into all the red light cameras in the area as well as
27:09license plate readers and their license plate readers showing her in the area the day that heidi
27:16disappears also after her cell phone records were retrieved her phone had been pinged that date on
27:22different cell phone towers that were located near heidi's apartment so now at this point investigators
27:27put together a lineup of multiple people and megan humphrey and take this lineup back to the
27:33neighbor for an eyewitness account when they showed her megan humphrey the neighbor actually said
27:40this person is the person that she saw heidi and margot getting in the vehicle with on the morning of
27:46their disappearance obviously she is now suspect number one in this case is she going to harm the
27:57baby is she going to run is she going to do something you don't always want to do an interview
28:01right
28:01away because obviously the minute you do an interview they know that they're a suspect and we are very
28:08concerned for the safety of the child so the decision was let's put a surveillance team all around the
28:14house in houston to see is there any sign of heidi a baby anything strange the texas rangers were called
28:24in
28:24to assist them to assist them with the surveillance on megan's house in houston texas we see her car in
28:32the backyard it fits the four-door light color of sedan that one witness described to us at a point
28:40during the surveillance a man leaves the house let's follow him see who he is where's he going
28:45he goes to target where he is observed buying baby supplies the texas rangers make the decision hey
28:54this is a life safety issue we're concerned about the health of the baby we're going to intervene right
28:59now so the texas rangers grab him in the parking lot they start asking him questions he identified
29:07himself as christopher green they find out this is megan's ex-boyfriend whom she lives with they
29:13asked him if he had a newborn child and he said he did and they told him we're looking into
29:17why
29:17heidi as well as her child are missing and they show him a picture of baby marco and he said
29:24that's my baby that's my baby at home
29:36investigators stopped christopher green megan's ex-boyfriend whom she lives with
29:41after he leaves target he had a bunch of baby items he says why i'm buying this stuff because my
29:47girlfriend had a baby but the texas rangers show him a picture of the missing baby and he says that's
29:55the baby that's at my house and then they ask him if he was present at the birth christopher green
30:04told investigators that he's an oil field worker when he arrived home from a work trip on december
30:1013th his ex-girlfriend megan had given birth a few days before that while he was gone he said well
30:17why didn't you call me she's like please don't be angry but i ended up having the baby at a
30:22birthing
30:23center obviously if you're the father of a baby it's very surprising that you were not present when
30:29the baby was born the whole story doesn't hold water it doesn't make sense doesn't add up at all
30:35so based on all the information that christopher green gave authorities at that point
30:39they had enough probable cause to go back and enter the property where megan was with the baby
30:49i had been doing podcasting for roughly a year before the heidi case came about it was december 19th
30:57i interviewed her friend caressa to raise awareness about heidi and the baby's disappearance after a
31:04week of heidi being missing i think her friends and family were getting really desperate so we are
31:10talking to heidi's best friend caressa we were live on youtube so everybody is participating in real
31:17time everything of hers was there besides her phone and her keys which is very very odd yeah as the
31:24interview went on someone in the chat had said breaking news they're raiding a home in houston
31:29and that changed everything wait a second you guys we have breaking news northwest harris
31:34county home swarmed by fbi and austin police the address was given out when the raid was announced
31:42and someone in the chat started searching the address of that house and someone found a baby registry
31:50megan humphrey and christopher green oh my god oh my god what what that's megan her best friend
32:00what oh my god that's megan's house and that was when all hell broke loose i'm over here freaking
32:10out guys sorry oh
32:16i'm so sorry caressa i'm so sorry
32:24authorities enter the property where megan was with the baby and rescued the baby some of the
32:30agents take this baby to a hospital to make sure that the baby is okay then they begin to interview
32:37megan at the house megan tells the investigators the baby was her baby girl named luna okay when did
32:44you have the baby where did you have the baby she couldn't tell them where she had the baby
32:48how could you not remember since we were pretty sure this is heidi's baby now where is heidi
32:58investigators expanded their search and they start looking for heidi
33:03they are searching everywhere to see if there's any evidence of her being alive
33:10walking through the backyard immediately one of the texas rangers is struck with this smell
33:16that's coming out of the car as investigators you know that smell they pop the trunk and inside of
33:24the trunk they find a black duffel bag
33:28and upon opening the black duffel bag they find a female deceased pretty quickly they realized based on
33:34photos they had this is in fact heidi
33:39although we were very happy to retrieve the baby alive and healthy it's hard to celebrate that when
33:46you know that heidi died we have a fox news alert for you a dead body and a baby found
33:54alive in that
33:56search connected to the missing mother down in texas heidi broussard and her newborn daughter margot
34:01i'm watching news coverage and then
34:13you see the stretcher with the body pack
34:20and you know that your friends in them
34:23your friends are there
34:28i just remember screaming
34:33um and i'm just screaming like she she's gone she's dead
34:41i got a call from my detective says hey i just want to make you aware
34:45that we're ever at one of heidi's friends house i can't get a lot of information right now but
34:50are taking megan in custody but we do have the baby heidi is deceased
35:01and um just thinking man if i could just see shane right now and just hug him and say i'm
35:07sorry
35:07i'm sorry i'm sorry man i'm sorry once the baby was released from the hospital and dna testing
35:15proved that it was heidi's baby she was returned to the family
35:25based on evidence license plate readers showing her in the area the day that heidi disappears
35:31her cell phone records heidi's baby at her house in houston her car with heidi in the trunk
35:39when you add all that together we know megan is responsible for this crime
35:46i'm angry we're all angry
35:50by hiding your best friend is supposed to be the person you trust more than anybody
35:59the houston coroner did an autopsy and declared that heidi was killed by strangulation
36:06authorities charged megan with capital murder and two counts of kidnapping an account of
36:11tampering with evidence human corpse for putting heidi in the trunk of the vehicle but megan would
36:17never speak with investigators about the details i'm not sure we're ever going to know the full story
36:22behind what happened between heidi and megan but it was pretty obvious there was a plan that was
36:28thought out deliberately over the course of months the timing of megan's announcement that she was
36:36pregnant doesn't seem accidental or coincidental she was probably planning right from the outset
36:44to take heidi's baby from her and the only way that that timeline would work is if she too became
36:51pregnant right around the same time the idea that somebody could lie for nine months to everybody
36:57they love is ruthless it's calculated it's evil so now at this point investigators must ask how in the
37:08world did megan's ex-boyfriend not know this whole time it sounds very suspicious so we really start to
37:17think about was this person part of this was christopher green planning this with megan
37:35when megan was arrested once they had found heidi and the baby a lot of people questioned how megan's
37:43boyfriend could not know but when the investigators talked to megan's ex-boyfriend the story that he
37:51told them was plausible he had broken up with megan months earlier right before megan announced she was
37:59pregnant within days of the now ex-boyfriend kicking her out of the house she comes back and says hey
38:07i'm
38:07pregnant and he allows her to move back in they were sleeping in separate rooms they weren't being
38:15intimate with one another so he was clueless he had not seen her naked and could not confirm that she
38:22was
38:23pregnant so he took it on her word obviously megan's boyfriend was investigated thoroughly and although it
38:30looks very strange it was determined that he was truthful and he was proven to have nothing to do with
38:38this crime this is a textbook case of maternal desire where megan was envious of her friend for having a
38:49baby getting pregnant everything that went with it she consciously made the decision i'm going to kill
38:56my best friend to take her baby because that's what i want looking back this is where i think the
39:05story
39:05started megan's boyfriend chris he was breaking up with her she's got to figure out how to make him
39:16stay what's the easiest way to keep somebody is to tell him you're pregnant when heidi first announced
39:23her pregnancy with the baby megan told everybody that she was pregnant too then over the course of
39:30the subsequent months she faked a pregnancy she gained a lot of weight she stuffed her belly to
39:39show that she was getting bigger and bigger every single month she created a baby registry and then later
39:45her had a baby shower on november 26th heidi gives birth and megan is there with her
39:52and then a little over a week later megan tells all of her friends that she gave birth to a
39:57baby girl
39:58named luna on december 12th early in the afternoon megan comes to visit heidi at her department complex
40:07we don't know exactly how megan got heidi down to the car but somehow using that friendship megan
40:14got heidi to bring the baby down and see her investigators think that after megan got heidi
40:19in the car she strangled her and drove back to houston with heidi's body and the baby the next day
40:28when megan's ex-boyfriend came back home she introduced baby margot to him as his child
40:39to think that this was planned out over a nine-month period that she was going to do away with
40:44her friend
40:45just to get her baby and never have one thought that this might not be a good idea is crazy
40:52to me
40:54we did lay heidi to rest right before christmas and she had the absolute most beautiful funeral
41:00i saw shane at the funeral and i said i want to let you know that i blamed you i
41:07had to admit this to
41:08him and it sucked he was just like it's okay it's okay he was like everybody thought it you know
41:15you're
41:15not the only one you aren't alone megan never went to trial for this case she actually accepted a plea
41:22deal megan was sentenced to 55 years in prison no chance of parole and no chance to appeal her case
41:32what is justice justice is only a word families never get over it it's just a word to hopefully comfort
41:42us there's a lot of evil in this world and it just makes you take a step back and
41:51look around i mean she thought that this person was her best friend for 20 years
41:57i can't even imagine she took the mother of two children those children will never have a mother now
42:03she destroyed an entire family and it really breaks my heart to think about that
42:13i was
42:16a light in everybody's life she was a good person a good friend she had a laugh that was unmistakable
42:25and she wanted to make everybody's day a little brighter we all want to keep our memory alive because
42:34heidi never missed the opportunity to take somebody in and make them feel special and that's just but
42:41heidi never missed the opportunity to take somebody in and make them feel special and that that's who she was
