00:00Now, over the years, the minivan market has gathered the rather uncool reputation of being the soccer mom vehicle.
00:07However, for those of you who have a lot of kids, you'll really learn to appreciate the high levels of
00:12versatility that these multi-purpose family vehicles really offer.
00:16This week, I'm testing the all-new 2016 Kia Sedona, equipped with these rather awesome second-row lounge-style seats.
00:23So, for those of you who are in the market for the latest minivan, why don't you kick back?
00:32Relax, and see if this latest Sedona is worth a look if you're shopping for one of these vans.
01:09Now, typically when I talk about the latest vehicles I'm testing for the week, I'm sitting in the driver's side.
01:15However, when Kia dropped off this all-new Sedona SXL, I was quite fascinated with the second row.
01:20These second-row lounge-style seats offer an incredible 11 inches of forward and back travel and 3.3 inches
01:27of lateral travel in case you want to get closer or farther away from the person that you're sitting next
01:31to.
01:32However, we'll talk about the interior at another point because the Sedona has been fully redesigned for the 2015 model
01:38year.
01:38And this all-new version represents the third generation of Kia's minivan nameplate.
01:43If you guys remember, the Sedona name was first introduced in the U.S. back in 2002.
01:47It's also called the Kia Carnival in other parts of the world where it has been around since 1998.
01:53Now, when the original Sedona first came out, it was slightly smaller than the segment-leading Chrysler Town & Country
02:00and Dodge Grand Caravan offerings,
02:02which Kia actually rectified when they introduced the second-generation model in the U.S. back in 2006,
02:07where the company actually did introduce two different sizes, a short-wheelbase and a long-wheelbase.
02:12For those of you who don't even remember a short-wheelbase offering, Kia actually pulled it from the U.S.
02:15lineup
02:16just a year after it was shown due to slow sales.
02:19Now, Kia actually did cut production of the Sedona in 2012, where it was gone from the U.S. lineup
02:26for one year
02:26before they brought it back in 2014 with slight refreshes to the front-end and rear-end design.
02:31Now, when Kia introduced the all-new third-generation for 2015,
02:35the company marketed this new Sedona as more of a multi-purpose vehicle.
02:39They wanted you to think of it more as a crossover or a vehicle for empty-nesters
02:44who wanted something that had some style, some space, and some luxury,
02:48but giving you that same minivan versatility that you had when your kids were still living in your household.
02:54Now, the Sedona definitely was the last vehicle in Kia's lineup to get the company's signature design language.
03:01You can see the front-end sports the company's corporate tiger-nose front grille.
03:05There's now several trims that you can choose the Sedona in.
03:08If you guys remember, the original one was only offered in LX and EX trims.
03:12Now, you can choose between L, LX, EX, SX, and SXL trim like my tester.
03:18The SXL trim typically gives you features like these 19-inch chrome wheels,
03:22more chrome accents around the exterior of the vehicle,
03:26as well as these projector-style fog lights
03:28instead of the traditional halogen bulb filament that you get on the lower trim models.
03:34Now, you can see the overall size of the Sedona is definitely in line with most of its competitors.
03:39The wheelbase is about 121 inches long.
03:42It stretches about 201 inches in overall length.
03:45So even though this is a minivan, it's not exactly mini on the outside.
03:49Those of you who are not used to driving big vehicles like this
03:51will definitely have to take some time to keep from scraping the vehicle along these tight parking spots.
03:57Now, thankfully, the higher trims of the Sedona will offer a surround-view 360-degree camera system,
04:02which will definitely help you when parking it.
04:05And under the hood, you only have one engine choice,
04:07a 3.3-liter direct-injection V6 paired with a six-speed automatic.
04:12All Sedonas are front-wheel drive.
04:14Now, coming around the rear, SX models and up will give you LED taillights
04:18as opposed to the incandescent bulbs that the lower trims give you.
04:21And this is really where you can see a lot of more traditional crossover-like styling elements
04:26where you have this boxy, somewhat taller-looking vehicle
04:29that has an impression of giving you more ground clearance,
04:32especially with these beefy tires.
04:34But overall, you're still not going to really mistake this vehicle for anything besides a van,
04:38especially with the dual-power sliding doors that come standard on EX and up trims.
04:43But enough about the exterior.
04:45Let's take a look at the inside.
04:46This is really where a lot of you shoppers are more concerned with
04:49and see how it stacks up against the exterior design of the vehicle.
04:54Now, EX and up trims will come standard with the company's Smart Key Access System.
04:58Here's the key fob that the model will come with.
05:00You can see when you lock the doors,
05:02the power folding mirrors are actually standard on LX trims and ups.
05:05That's a nice feature to have.
05:06But to unlock the door, you come over here.
05:07You actually have to touch the button again.
05:09There's no sensor on the back part of the handle.
05:11But when you touch that, the door opens up.
05:12You can see, checking out the interior of the all-new Sedona SXL,
05:16the SXL trim comes with a premium Nappa leather seat.
05:20This is basically the same high-quality leather
05:22that you're going to find in the company's flagship K900 sedan.
05:24It's a very soft, premium leather upholstery.
05:28And the rest of the cabin has this very upscale ambience.
05:30It's typically not expected in the minivan segment.
05:33Typically, you find very low-grade quality materials
05:36just because these vehicles tend to be abused.
05:38But Kia definitely goes with a different route.
05:40Now, stepping inside the van,
05:41you can see it has a very nice, easy step-in height with lots of headroom.
05:45So those of you who like vans, you're going to definitely like this
05:48when you first get inside this vehicle.
05:49It's easy to get in and out of.
05:50Now, shutting the door,
05:52it has a pretty nice, solid thunk
05:54to give you that impression of quality.
05:56And again, looking at this interior at a glance,
05:58the materials are very nice.
05:59The design is very easy to understand.
06:02And it's very well logically laid out.
06:04Now, like I said before,
06:05push-button start is standard on EX and up trims.
06:08All you have to do is put your foot on the brake
06:09and then push the button here to start the engine.
06:15Now, the SX trims and up do give you
06:17a slightly unique instrument panel hood or gauges.
06:21You get a slightly more high-definition center screen
06:24with these electroluminescent dials.
06:27It looks very nice,
06:28very nice-looking instrument panel and dash layout.
06:31And you can see the materials in here are pretty top-notch.
06:34This is much better in terms of that 2016 Sienna SE
06:39that I showed you guys last year.
06:40You can see the dashboard is all a soft-touch material.
06:42It's even soft-touch on most of the panels,
06:45on the entire area of the dash.
06:47The door panels are also soft-touch
06:49with more of that premium Nappa leather
06:52stitching along the armrest.
06:53The windows are one-touch for all four.
06:55Definitely nice to have.
06:56This wood trim is also real,
06:58along with the aluminum that you see splashed around.
07:00That's part of the SXL trim level.
07:02You also get a wood-grain steering wheel
07:05and a heated steering wheel when you guys go for the SXL.
07:07So this is really the trim to get
07:08if you guys are wanting the ultimate
07:10in terms of luxuries for a minivan.
07:13Now, looking at the rest of the center stack here,
07:15there's a lot of buttons,
07:16but Kia has them well laid out,
07:19very well labeled as well.
07:20Your radio controls, your nav controls
07:23are right in this level.
07:24Your climate controls are down here.
07:25Lots of knobs, which is what I like,
07:28for your climate control, for your audio,
07:30your tuning sources.
07:31The 8-inch UVO head unit
07:33is the centerpiece of the center stack design.
07:36You can see this is the home screen layout,
07:37where you'll have your navigation function,
07:40your audio display here.
07:41You can change your different menu categories here.
07:43If you guys want to put different apps here,
07:46you can interchange that.
07:48Now, I've shown you guys this system before
07:50in previous Kia models.
07:51It works pretty much the same.
07:52Definitely not as nice as the K900
07:54with the 9.2-inch screen,
07:56but again, this is pretty easy to use.
07:58The nav is actually standard on SX trims and up,
08:01so if you guys want the navigation function,
08:03you have to go for an SX trim.
08:04It's not available on the lower trims.
08:06The map display, it works fine.
08:08It's definitely not going to blow you away
08:09in terms of its map graphics,
08:11but the voice commands work well.
08:13The touchscreen itself is very, very quick to use.
08:16It's one of the more responsive
08:17touchscreens in the business.
08:19You have your typical audio sources here,
08:21your satellite AM, FM, XM.
08:24You have your Bluetooth streaming, USB.
08:26There is no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
08:28on this car just yet.
08:30This was introduced last year
08:31before Kia started putting it on their vehicles.
08:32I would expect the company
08:33to start showing that later on.
08:35Now, when you put it in reverse,
08:37you can see here,
08:37there is your 360-degree surround view camera system.
08:41It comes standard on SXL trims.
08:43You can get it on the SX trim
08:44as part of a technology package.
08:46It does have trajectory in the rear.
08:48When you put it into a drive,
08:49it does not have trajectory for the front,
08:51but you do have front and rear parking sensors
08:53to kind of show you what's near you,
08:56which is very important.
08:57This is a pretty large vehicle
08:58when you guys are trying to park it.
09:00Now, looking at the rest of the center stack here,
09:02your USB port is down there.
09:03This controls your one-choice only
09:05six-speed automatic transmission
09:06with a manual shift mode.
09:08The SX trims give you a drive mode selector,
09:10which you can cycle between comfort, eco, and normal.
09:14There is no sport mode, which is fine with me.
09:16This is a van.
09:17I'm not going to be driving it
09:17like a crazy person when I'm going around.
09:20The center console armrest here is adjustable.
09:24It is leather padded.
09:26It does open up and slides
09:27to reveal a pretty good storage down here
09:29with another fast USB charger down there.
09:31You have heated and cooled seats
09:33as part of the SX package.
09:35A heated steering wheel comes on the SX-L.
09:37You have dual glove boxes.
09:38Pretty nice to have.
09:40The glove box here
09:41is actually a cooled glove box unit.
09:43It's not really like the refrigerator unit
09:45you're going to find in the Honda Odyssey, for example.
09:47It just kind of blows the air conditioning system
09:50into that glove box.
09:52Now, overall, the interior in here
09:55is certainly a nice place to spend time.
09:57The seats are very comfortable.
09:59You have very good visibility,
10:00very large side mirrors.
10:02The sunroof is standard on most models.
10:05The SX-L will give you a dual sunroof function,
10:07which actually opens.
10:09This is one of the few vehicles in the class,
10:11actually one of the few vehicles ever I've seen
10:12that has a rear sunroof that actually opens.
10:14Typically, it's just a glass panel.
10:15Your controls up here are for your power sliding doors,
10:19your power tailgate.
10:20You can turn off the power sliding door function there
10:22if you need to.
10:22There's also a little convex mirror here
10:24for those of you who need to spy on the kids
10:26in case one of them is misbehaving.
10:28But overall, the features that you expect here
10:30in a van are definitely present.
10:33There's the latest in terms of driver assistance tech.
10:35There's blind spot monitoring,
10:36forward collision warning,
10:38lane departure warning.
10:39You have smart cruise control.
10:40But let's take a look at the back seats
10:42and see how they fare
10:43over the very nicely appointed front seats.
10:46Now, checking out the second row,
10:48again, this is part of the SX-L technology package
10:50where you get this very nice second row lounge style seats.
10:54They're basically the same seats you're going to find
10:56in first class of a Delta or Southwest
10:59or whatever kind of airline that you're used to flying.
11:02The seats themselves, the leather is very supple.
11:04You have an adjustable headrest,
11:06pillow style headrest there.
11:07And you can see the controls to adjust these seats.
11:10Some people have called them complicated.
11:12They are well-labeled,
11:13but honestly, it's going to take you some time
11:14to remember what controls which,
11:17especially when you guys first start getting into this car.
11:20The seats themselves,
11:21they are not power adjustable, of course,
11:23but you can see all the level of adjustability they do offer.
11:26Now, stepping inside the second row,
11:28it offers a generous amount of legroom, to be honest.
11:31I mean, the legroom in here is just ridiculous.
11:34I've never been in a vehicle
11:35where I would rather sit back here
11:37versus actually drive the car.
11:38You can see, coming all the way back,
11:41you can see I can basically just stretch my legs out completely.
11:43Now, I'm not very tall,
11:45but you do have this little functional ottoman right here
11:50that pops out,
11:51which is definitely very nice to have.
11:53When you combine it with the recline function,
11:55you're basically just kind of falling asleep back here.
11:59And you're almost sitting in the third row, to be honest.
12:02This does make the third row rather useless
12:04if you guys want to actually use these lounge chairs.
12:07But for those of you, again, who don't have children,
12:09who just want to travel in comfort with four people,
12:12the Sedona SXL is definitely the vehicle to do that in.
12:16Now, the SX trims will give you the second row sunshades.
12:19You get it for the second and the third row,
12:21so that's definitely nice to have.
12:23I wish the sunshade kind of extended more to this area
12:25because I can literally see there's a hole right here.
12:28Just something to think about
12:30in making the sunshade slightly larger.
12:32You do have two matte pockets right there.
12:35And the materials back here,
12:36surprisingly, this is soft touch.
12:37So that's another first.
12:39Most of the vans give you crap materials back here
12:41because the kids are going to destroy it.
12:42The SXL is certainly not the case.
12:44You have more of the wood trim back here
12:45and then the automatic one touch
12:47for the window controls back here as well.
12:50Now, my tester has an optional rear seat entertainment system.
12:53No, it's not in the usual place
12:55that you'd find it right here.
12:56Instead, Kia gives you this Radio Shack-like 90s LCD display,
13:01which honestly, for $1,000, I'm pretty disappointed with it.
13:05It looks very aftermarket-ish.
13:07I would rather just spend the money
13:08and get my kids an iPad, to be honest.
13:10This screen itself just is entirely disappointing to look at.
13:15You do have nice wireless headphones,
13:17but overall, I'm pretty disappointed
13:19with the rear seat entertainment display.
13:21It's definitely behind the times
13:22in terms of the widescreen display
13:24that you'll find in the Odyssey or the Chrysler vans,
13:27to be honest.
13:28You do have a nice USB port there,
13:31another household power outlet there.
13:32Now, you're noticing there are two buttons here
13:34that should be there for heated second-row seats.
13:37When you guys go for the lounge seats in the tech package,
13:40the seven-passenger model,
13:41you lose the second-row heated seats.
13:43I think that's a stupid omission.
13:44If you guys want the second-row heated seats,
13:46you have to lose these lounge chairs
13:47and go for the eight-passenger technology package instead,
13:50which I just think is really stupid.
13:53If you want these kind of seats,
13:54where's my heated seats?
13:55Where's my table?
13:56And where's my big-screen LCD widescreen display here?
14:00I think Kia just really forgot about the details
14:03when they were designing these second-row lounge seats
14:05because there are just features that I would like to have,
14:08especially when you pay for this kind of money
14:10for the SXL trim level.
14:11Now, getting to the third row of this vehicle,
14:14which is probably not an area
14:16where you typically want to sit,
14:17when you actually have the second-row seats
14:19adjusted to a fair amount of degree
14:22to give backseat passengers here some room.
14:25You can see the bench itself is pretty low for me.
14:29My knees are pretty high up in the air,
14:31but legroom is okay.
14:32There is very nice mat pockets, actually,
14:35in these back seats to give more storage here.
14:37The materials are hard plastic back here,
14:40which is kind of expected.
14:41There is no additional hidden storage back here,
14:44but you do have cup holders
14:45and your own set of sunshades here
14:47in case you want to block out the paparazzi.
14:50And you can see here the rear seat climate control vents.
14:53There are individual ones for the backseat passengers,
14:55and you do have a nice view out of that sunroof,
14:58which does open again.
14:59Your rear seat climate controls
15:00are actually right there on the ceiling.
15:02But overall, the third row is not a bad place to spend time.
15:05I actually wouldn't mind sitting back here on shorter trips.
15:09Now, the Sedona does have the company's
15:11Smart Access tailgate system
15:12where you can basically just stand back here with the key
15:14and it'll open up for you after three seconds.
15:16But looking at the cargo area of the Sedona,
15:19this is an area where it really is a selling feature
15:22for most minivan buyers.
15:23I mean, even with the third row seat up,
15:24you're looking at about 33 cubic feet of space
15:27with a very deep well down here
15:29for those of you who plan to store a bunch of stuff.
15:31Now, if you guys want,
15:32you can fold down the third row here,
15:35which is pretty easy to do.
15:37You pull that little lever there,
15:38you grab this lever here,
15:40and it releases the seat,
15:41and push it down until it clicks,
15:44and there you go.
15:44You're looking at about 78 cubic feet of space
15:47with the third row seats folded.
15:49Now, the second row is really only where
15:51the Chrysler vans have really innovated here
15:53with their stow-and-go seating.
15:55The Sedona, what it offers instead is that sliding seat.
15:58This, if you guys go for these captain's chairs
16:00and the lounge package,
16:02these seats are not removable,
16:03but you can slide them forward,
16:05but you will reduce the overall cargo capacity.
16:08Now, those of you who don't get this package
16:09can slide the seats entirely forward against the front seats,
16:12and it gives you about 142 cubic feet of space,
16:15which is about 10 cubic feet less
16:16versus competitors like the Honda Odyssey
16:18or the Toyota Sienna,
16:20but you're really getting all the versatility back here.
16:22There's even a nice regular household power outlet
16:25back here with a 12-volt,
16:27and then a really nice integrated flashlight here as well
16:31if you guys want to use this in case of emergency.
16:36So, overall, I think the cargo area of the Sedona
16:38is definitely very nicely finished.
16:39The SXL trims will give you these nice aluminum kickplates
16:43for those of you who are taking stuff
16:44in and out of the cargo area constantly.
17:00First of all, I'd like to apologize about the rain.
17:02The weather in the springtime here in D.C. absolutely sucks,
17:05but the show must go on.
17:06So, taking a look under the hood of the 2016 Sedona,
17:09you're looking at one engine choice.
17:11This is the company's familiar 3.3-liter Lambda Series
17:14gasoline direct injection V6.
17:17It produces 276 horsepower in this configuration
17:20and 248 pound-feet of torque.
17:23Now, the Sedona will tow up to 3,500 pounds
17:25for those of you who are interested.
17:26It all goes out to the front wheels only.
17:28There's no all-wheel drive available in this vehicle
17:30through a six-speed automatic transmission.
17:33Now, this vehicle does run on regular gas,
17:35and you're probably wondering what the fuel economy is.
17:37Now, Kia says this car will get about 1824
17:40on the L to EX trims.
17:43If you guys go for a regular SX,
17:45you'll actually get one better 1825
17:47due to an electric power steering system.
17:49Now, this SXL is the heaviest of the models,
17:52and for some reason, its fuel economy drops
17:53to a rather thirsty 1722.
17:57Now, if you guys look at its competitors,
17:59the Honda Odyssey leads the class at 1928.
18:02The new Chrysler Pacifica also gets 1828,
18:05pretty close to the Odyssey.
18:07This is right in line with the Sienna, with the Quest,
18:09but the Sedona weighs about 4,600 pounds.
18:12So let's get out on the road
18:14and see how it all works, shall we?
18:15Now, the previous generation Sedona
18:17definitely gave up in terms of refinement,
18:19luxury, technology to its main competitors.
18:22So I haven't had a chance to drive
18:24this all-new version yet.
18:25Let's take a look and see
18:26if Kia has managed to rectify
18:28a lot of the flaws of the previous model.
18:40Now, first, setting off in the all-new Sedona,
18:42I'm definitely feeling that new levels
18:44of structural integrity that I'm feeling.
18:46Kia says this all-new platform is much stiffer.
18:49You definitely feel it.
18:50This van definitely feels big.
18:52You feel this van's size,
18:54the electric power steering assist on this SXL model
18:57does a pretty good job in trying to mask the size,
18:59but you do have to deal with just kind of learning
19:03where the front and rear corners of this vehicle are.
19:05It's a long vehicle.
19:06These minivans technically aren't very mini,
19:09but the throttle calibration is good.
19:12The van has pretty good off-the-line feel.
19:14The 3.3-liter V6 offers actually
19:17the second most powerful rating
19:19in the main van class,
19:20but you're really not going to be driving
19:23this thing for drag races.
19:24Honestly, you're just going to be tooling around town.
19:27It's overall a nice van to drive.
19:39Now, I apologize with the crappy weather
19:41we've been experiencing here in D.C.
19:43It's definitely making it difficult for me
19:44to test the acceleration of this car
19:45as the front tires are struggling to put down grip.
19:48However, you are dealing with the second most powerful engine
19:51in the minivan class,
19:52a 3.3-liter V6 with 276 horsepower.
19:55That's roughly almost 30 more than the Honda Odyssey
19:58and about 10 more than the Toyota Sienna
20:00that I showed you guys last year.
20:03Now, going down the road,
20:04the Sedona definitely has a pretty solid feel to it.
20:07On smoother pavement, the ride does staple out
20:10and it's relatively quiet in here.
20:12You are going to deal with a little bit
20:13of that protruding engine noise,
20:14which does sound decent.
20:18When you get the Sedona going,
20:21this van will get to 68,
20:22about 7.9, 8 seconds.
20:24It's class average.
20:26The Sienna is about a half second quicker.
20:28That little beep you heard
20:29is the car's lane departure warning system.
20:32Now, the safety features in the Sedona
20:33when you get the tech package
20:35are actually the passive safety systems.
20:37The lane departure system does not actively steer.
20:40The forward collision warning
20:41does not automatically hit the brakes.
20:43The only van in the segment
20:44that actually offers that
20:45is the new Chrysler Pacifica.
20:46If you guys look at the Odyssey,
20:48it's the same features.
20:49Now, the forward collision warning, again,
20:51will occasionally beep annoyingly
20:54like it just did right now,
20:56even though the car in front of me
20:57is nowhere near me.
20:58So it is pretty sensitive.
20:59You guys can adjust the sensitivity
21:01if you guys prefer to give you
21:03less of an annoying, intrusive warning.
21:06My tester also has the smart cruise control system.
21:08It works like the other Hyundai-Kia products.
21:11The system itself shuts off
21:12at about 5 miles an hour,
21:13so it doesn't give you
21:14that full stop-and-go capability,
21:16but at least Kia does offer it.
21:18The Honda Odyssey does not offer
21:19the adaptive cruise control function
21:22that you're going to find
21:22on the other Honda vehicles.
21:24Now, despite having 19-inch wheels,
21:25the turning radius in here is pretty bad,
21:27but you need lots of space
21:28to make U-turns.
21:36But when you do get it going,
21:37like I said,
21:38the van has pretty good acceleration.
21:40The 6-speed automatic shifts fine.
21:42It does want to get into its top gear
21:44relatively quickly,
21:44so if you guys need to make a quick getaway,
21:46get used to flooring the throttle constantly
21:49to make that happen.
21:51Now, you're probably wondering
21:51how the van excels
21:52in terms of just driving on the highway.
21:55This is probably where a lot of you
21:56are going to love driving your minivan
21:57on long trips.
21:58The seats are pretty comfortable.
21:59You sit up nice and high.
22:01I mean, overall,
22:02as a road trip vehicle,
22:03as a family vehicle,
22:04the Sedona still excels
22:06in offering that typical minivan strength.
22:09Now, coming to a couple of numbers here,
22:11the fuel economy
22:11is probably where you're wondering.
22:13Now, around town,
22:15I have not been getting
22:16very good gas mileage,
22:17I'll be honest there.
22:18I've been averaging about
22:1913 miles per gallon around town,
22:21most of the times
22:22because I found myself
22:23in rush hour traffic,
22:25having to bury my foot to the floor
22:26to get it to go
22:28because the transmission
22:29likes to stay in its higher gears.
22:30Now, on the highway,
22:31I was able to beat the EPA's number of 22.
22:33I got about 24 miles per gallon.
22:35So Kia could improve
22:36the fuel economy here
22:37on the Sedona
22:39in the coming years,
22:40especially when you have vehicles
22:41like the Odyssey
22:41or the new Pacifica
22:43that get close to 30 miles to the gallon
22:44when you guys are
22:46in pure highway driving.
22:48Now, pricing is another area
22:49where minivan shoppers
22:50are probably concerned with.
22:51The Sedona is actually
22:53the least expensive minivan
22:54on the market to start.
22:55The base L starts
22:56at about $26,400,
22:59which is about $3,000 less
23:01than most of its competitors.
23:02A Honda Odyssey,
23:03a Sienna,
23:04a Pacifica starts at about $29,000.
23:05Now, most models,
23:07or most of you
23:08are probably going to end up
23:08choosing the EX model
23:09that gives you features
23:11such as the TriZone
23:12and clamp control,
23:13dual power sliding doors,
23:15power lift gate,
23:16premium audio system,
23:17leather heated seats.
23:18That's going to run you
23:19about $32,000,
23:20which is probably
23:21what most of you
23:22are going to end up
23:22spending for a van,
23:23which is an excellent value.
23:25Now, my tester,
23:26the SXL trim,
23:27is definitely a lot more expensive.
23:28They started around $40,000,
23:30but you will get the nav,
23:31you'll get the premium leather,
23:32the 19-inch wheels.
23:34My tester with the technology package
23:36was like another $22,000
23:38that adds the second row
23:40lounge style seats,
23:42a couple of other nice things,
23:43a smart cruise control,
23:44the forward collision warning.
23:46Mine's around $44,000,
23:48add another $1,000
23:49for that rear seat entertainment system,
23:50which I would probably delete,
23:52which actually is a lot of money
23:54for a van.
23:55It's sticker shock
23:55for most of you
23:56who haven't been shopping
23:57in this segment.
23:58However, if you guys look
23:59at the competitors
24:00like the Odyssey,
24:00the Sienna,
24:01the Pacifica,
24:01they approach $50,000
24:03when you guys go
24:04for a fully loaded model,
24:06which is pretty ridiculous
24:07if you guys think about it.
24:08But a lot of these vans
24:09are offering the same levels
24:11of technology,
24:11luxury,
24:12that you're finding
24:12in a lot of luxury vehicles.
24:14So for those of you
24:15who can keep the options list
24:16a little bit more in check,
24:17you can't spend
24:18around the mid $30,000 range
24:19to high 30s
24:21for nicely equipped versions.
24:23Anyways,
24:24if you guys are in the market
24:25for a minivan,
24:26I definitely would recommend
24:27the Sedona
24:28as it does have
24:28its own unique
24:29levels of strength.
24:30So if you guys are looking
24:31for the most
24:31in terms of versatility,
24:33the Odyssey is still king.
24:34If you're looking
24:35for the most
24:35in terms of tech,
24:36the new Pacifica
24:37is definitely that vehicle.
24:39But if you guys are looking
24:39for one of the nicest cabins
24:41that offers a nice blend,
24:42the Sedona is definitely
24:43the van of choice for me.
24:45I prefer its interior
24:46over the Sienna
24:47that I tested
24:48as the body structure
24:49is much more solid,
24:50the materials in here
24:51are much more upscale.
24:52But again,
24:52if you have kits
24:53that are probably going
24:54to destroy the backseat area,
24:55you're not going to really care
24:56about having a nice interior.
24:57And that's probably
24:58where the Sienna
24:59may be an appealing choice for you.
25:01Anyways,
25:01I hope you guys have enjoyed
25:02my overview
25:03of this 2016 Kia Sedona SXL.
25:05If you're in the market
25:06for a minivan,
25:07I would definitely recommend
25:08checking one out.
