00:00Come with Metal Hammer for a metal day out in Birmingham, the home of heavy metal, obviously dressed for the
00:04occasion.
00:05We got the train up late on Saturday morning and we're blessed with lovely weather. Hooray!
00:09First stop was the stunning 36 metre Black Sabbath mural located on Navigation Street just outside New Street Station.
00:16So it's a perfect first spot for anyone coming by train that wants an instant dose of heavy metal.
00:21Created by Mr Murals last year ahead of Black Sabbath's final show, it's a hugely impressive piece of art that
00:26was actually signed by all four original members.
00:28We spent a good few minutes here just taking it all in. It looks absolutely excellent.
00:32Then we grabbed a nice spot of lunch around the corner at Bonehead. This is surely the most metal food
00:37joint in Birmingham.
00:38There were cool old tour posters and metal memorabilia everywhere and it was blasting tall as we came in. Lovely
00:43stuff.
00:44Heads up that Bonehead is mainly a chicken place but we were eating veggie and the most metal meal on
00:48the menu was actually plant-based and it was called the Plantera Burger. Yes please.
00:52Then it was a nice walk along the canal to the Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street.
00:55I have actually already come here a couple of years ago after the bridge first opened but we just had
01:00to squeeze in another visit.
01:01The nearby pub was stocking a Sabbath themed beer so he quickly grabbed a cheeky half and toasted Ozzy. Love
01:06you Oz.
01:07After that it was on to the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
01:11This is a free installation that takes up one big room near the entrance of the building.
01:15It's a really nice tribute to the Prince of Darkness and while seeing a bunch of his gold records and
01:19other bits of Oz memorabilia was cool.
01:21For me the video montage of all the people affected by Ozzy's career and his passing is what it hardest
01:25for me.
01:26What an icon.
01:27Then it was a quick nosy and fallout clothing in Martineau Way which is packed with cool merch and right
01:32next door is Merlin's Bar.
01:33In my opinion the coolest bar in Birmingham.
01:36It's a horror rock bar that's packed out with awesome horror decorations.
01:39It does food and a range of fun themed cocktails and it even has its own little shop selling gifts
01:44and cake.
01:45Aw.
01:45Big fan of this lad.
01:46Finally it was on to the renowned Scruffy Murphys for one yet another place you couldn't move in without seeing
01:51references to Ozzy and Sabbath everywhere.
01:54You cannot overestimate the impact and influence those four men have had on this city.
01:58Then it was back to New Street for a quick salute to Ozzy the Bull and a train home.
02:01All in all a lovely metal day out.
