00:00In El Salvador, the NGO Judicial Humanitarian Help is accusing the Bukele government of crimes against humanity.
00:05They say why 512 people reportedly have died while detained under the state of emergency
00:11implemented by President Nayib Bukele since March 2022.
00:15And they urge the government to grant freedom, justice and reparations to thousands of innocent people
00:21and justifiably held in a statement posted on social media,
00:25the NGO cited murder, imprisonment or severe deprivation of liberty, invalination of international law,
00:31torture, political persecution and forced disappearance and the forced transfer of populations.
00:37They later make in reference especially to Venezuelans sent to the Cicot mega prison.
00:43They argue that 94% of the deceased prisoners had no current record
00:47and that the actual number of deaths in state custody could exceed 2,000.
