00:04:09And in ancient times, there really was no distinction between the two.

00:04:12It wasn't really until the 1700s that their paths split and they sort of went their separate ways.

00:05:11Did you know the sun is 400 times larger than the moon, but the moon is 400 times closer to

00:05:18That's why they fit together so perfectly on days like today.

00:05:25It's also kind of romantic.

00:05:29And a little tragic.

00:05:31You know, like the sun and moon fit together so perfectly, but so rarely and just for a moment.

00:05:39And then once that moment is gone, it's a long time before it can be recaptured.

01:14:27but the moon is 400 times

01:14:29closer to the earth.

01:14:30Which is why,

01:14:30during an eclipse,

01:14:31it seems like they were

01:14:32made for each other.

01:14:33That's quite a coincidence.

01:14:36You know, the universe is actually

01:14:37full of coincidences like that.

01:14:43of this year's eclipse

01:14:44and the eclipse seven years ago

01:14:45both passed right through Carbondale?

01:14:48You know, I was actually here

01:14:50for the last eclipse.

01:14:54And the cosmic coincidences
