00:00Called to the poor, the peril of neglecting God in an age of false wisdom scripture, texts,
00:05Luke 4, 18, James 2, 17, Isaiah 55, 11, 2, Timothy 3, 1, 5, 2, Corinthians 12, 9,
00:14Introduction, a world full of voices yet starving for truth, we live in an age overflowing with
00:19information yet impoverished in wisdom, men boast of knowledge, nations celebrate progress,
00:25leaders promise peace, yet beneath the surface lies anxiety, confusion, deception, and spiritual
00:33exhaustion, Christ declared his mission plainly, the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath
00:39anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, Luke 4, 18, not merely the economically poor
00:46but the poor in spirit, those emptied of false confidence, those awakened to the truth that
00:53life itself is God-given, sustained by his mercy, and destined for judgment apart from
00:59his grace, the great crisis of our age is not ignorance of facts, but neglect of God, and
01:06neglect of God is never neutral, it is perilous, I.
01:12The poverty, Christ came to heal.
01:16Man's deepest poverty is spiritual, we are born dependent creatures yet live as if self-made,
01:22we breathe borrowed air while denying the giver of breath, the gospel confronts us with an
01:27uncomfortable truth, our existence is God's gift, our circumstances lie under his providence,
01:36our eternal destination depends entirely upon his grace, when the Lord rescues a man trapped in sin,
01:43that man rejoices because he knows he has been delivered from a prison he could not escape,
01:49but the sinner who trusts lies must constantly invent new lies to protect old ones.
01:56Scripture describes Satan as a liar and the father of it, John 8, 44.
02:02And those who follow falsehood resemble their master, tangled, restless, moving from deception
02:08to deception. History itself shows us leaders and empires trapped in perpetual manipulation,
02:14forced to sustain one falsehood with another until collapse becomes inevitable. Sin enslaves,
02:21truth liberates, and then second. The true wisdom of Christ against the instability of human deceit stands
02:28Christ, the true king. Unlike earthly rulers, Christ speaks only truth. In him are hid all the treasures of
02:37wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2, 3. His wisdom is pure, without mixture, without corruption, without
02:44self-interest. Human wisdom is alloyed, mixed with pride, fear, ambition, and self-preservation.
02:51The true God wants to be saints is true.
02:51The true love comes true.
