“Hao Are You” doesn’t feel like a neat family story. It feels like tracing a crack through generations. Vietnam didn’t just send people away. It scattered them across three continents and somehow left the aftermath sitting in the room with everyone. Director Dieu Hao Do zooms in on the fragmentation, and it gets messy fast. Mom blames communism, the uncle goes straight for an inheritance dispute, and the rest basically goes quiet like they’ve learned the hard way that silence is the safest seat at the table. It’s not exactly cinematic comfort food. More like a family argument that keeps refusing to end, even decades later.
----------
„Hao Are You“ ist kein Familienfoto.
