00:14My name is Anthony Norman. I'm 25 years old. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee.
00:25An exciting time for us because we're about to go on our big retreat.
00:28Yep. And that's what you're helping out with here.
00:35Anthony, I need to talk to you right now. Father to father. I need to talk to you. Let's go!
00:47Anthony, come up here. I'm going to talk to you myself. Have a seat, my friend.
00:54Have a seat. Make yourself comfortable.
01:02Here we go. Here we go.
01:04Okay, here we go. Camera's ready.
01:07Q dug out. Q dug out.
01:09All right, listen. I just want to say what Anthony just did for him to bust into that room and
01:16to stop that deal.
01:17I mean, that took guts.
01:18The truth is that we have actually hoped that you would bust through that room and stop that deal since
01:24the very first minute you showed up at Rockin' Grandma's.
01:27Really?
01:28I told you that this was my last company retreat. Yeah. What I didn't tell you was that it was
01:35also my first company retreat because I'm not actually the CEO of Rockin' Grandma's.
01:44You see, Rockin' Grandma's is not a real company.
01:49Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
01:50That is not my son over there.
01:53You're lying. You're lying.
01:55How? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, hold on.
01:58Anthony.
01:58Y'all about to mess my brain up.
02:00Anthony, we are all actors and this is a TV show.
02:08And the only thing that's real is you.
02:11Yep.
02:12Give him a minute. Give him a minute.
02:14Take your time, baby. Take your time.
02:16You know what's crazy is I've been saying that his whole time.
02:21His whole time.
02:23We know.
02:25Every time I'm like, this date, what's going to be next?
02:27I feel like I'm living in a TV show.
02:32Oh, my goodness. Y'all are incredible actors.
02:34All of y'all. Y'all are phenomenal actors.
02:37Marjorie, too? She's an actor?
02:39Yes.
02:42Yes, absolutely.
02:44Even though Rockin' Grandma's wasn't a real company,
02:47you were definitely its best employee.
02:50Yeah, I see.
02:53You showed that you had a deep affection
02:56for the family of Rockin' Grandmas.
02:59No matter what we threw at you,
03:01you kept your cool.
03:02You calmly took on the role of Captain Fun
03:04when your boss left the retreat on the very first day.
03:08Everything's good.
03:08You're going to have a great time.
03:09You're Captain Fun.
03:10You got this. You got this.
03:11I don't got this.
03:12And Dougie.
03:14Oh, my God.
03:15You helped him every single day.
03:18He's not going to believe me, dog.
03:19I got your back.
03:20No one believes me.
03:21I believe you.
03:22You sound like you don't believe in yourself.
03:24I do, but he doesn't.
03:25I will back you.
03:27So this really isn't your dad?
03:28That's really not my dad.
03:29Really?
03:30That's really not my dad.
03:31Really, really.
03:32That's not my dad.
03:33But what is real is the friendship that we made.
03:36You are my brother for life.
03:37So thank you for being there for Dougie
03:39and really being there for me through this whole thing.
03:41I love you, bro.
03:42Absolutely. Love you too, man.
03:44Anthony.
03:44Hold on. Hold on. Pause. Pause. Pause.
03:47Do you really like snacks?
03:49Like, is that real?
03:49Are you really going to make a PJ Snack Talk
03:52or was that all BS?
03:53Well, now I feel like I have to.
03:55Yeah.
03:58Hey, Anthony.
04:00I'm Stephanie.
04:01I'm not Helen.
04:03And...
04:04You was my favorite.
04:06You was my favorite.
04:10I have to tell you what you did for me.
04:13As an older person,
04:15you get pushed to the side a lot.
04:18You get in the last seat.
04:19You get chosen last for the games.
04:22And you didn't ever see me that way.
04:25You saw me as a person
04:26and not some older lady.
04:28And that means the world to me.
04:31And the amount of love that you gave everybody here
04:34made my heart so huge and happy.
04:37And I'm just grateful for you.
04:39And you are a fine, fine man.
04:41And don't you ever forget that, okay?
04:44Yes, ma'am.
04:44Okay.
04:53There's more.
04:56For all the hard work you've done for us,
04:58we would like to give you something.
05:01A final paycheck
05:03in the amount of $150,000.
05:11Yeah!
05:13Yeah!
05:13That was, yeah!
05:16Yeah!
05:17Yeah!
05:19Yeah, man.
05:21Yeah, thank you.
05:23Woo!
05:25Woo!
05:25Okay, congratulations, you are, ah, yeah, yeah, all right.
05:31We love you, man.
05:34And at this point, we have special guests
05:38who would like to join us here.
05:41And if it's okay with you,
05:43we would like to introduce you to the team.
05:58Damn, we're like, where did all these people come from?
06:01Where were y'all hiding at?
06:04The amount of people that went into making this possible
06:06for me to have this experience,
06:08it seemed like people were coming out
06:09of everywhere and everything.
06:16I'm grateful for all y'all.
06:18I have questions like, how did I go from an assistant
06:23to, like, being in a TV show?
06:27And we've got answers.
06:28Can I get one more hug for my family?
06:30Yeah!
06:43We are scouting Oak Canyon,
06:45which will be our home for this season.
06:48In the first season of Jury Duty,
06:49we had to worry about essentially three rooms,
06:52and now we have a site that is ten times that size.
06:56It will be the basis of the retreat.
06:59Thinking about doing a yurt with a roof piece,
07:03I have some renders here.
07:05We need to build a huge amount in addition
07:07to the existing structures
07:08to allow us to cover the storylines we have planned,
07:11as well as accommodate the entire cast and hero
07:14that are staying on site throughout the shoot.
07:16It's a massive undertaking.
07:18We're building a fake world they'll all be living in.
07:33That's the end.
07:34Hey!
07:39Thank you, man.
07:40We can get a real name.
07:47Here we go.
07:48And here we go.
07:49Y'all seem so close like there was no prep work at all. Oh, there was a lot of rehearsal
07:56Hi everyone. Oh welcome to the next iteration of jury duty
08:04Two or two act one waiting for Doug to arrive and stop the morning meeting. Hey guys, um
08:11I'm gonna make an executive call. I'm thinking we should probably wait for my dad before we get started
08:16No one thought otherwise people talk about how they slept
08:30I'm Helen Schaefer. I've been here since 1999, which is 26 years. I was the first employee, Doug Cole
08:38And I was surprised that people did not like the honey butter chips from Korea. I thought it'd be a
08:44hit, but you know, we learned
08:47And at five o'clock, I'm out. I'm picking up the twins from soccer and karate
08:52On Fridays, we go to church. Amen. Uh-huh, hallelujah
08:56Before doing this show, I sort of had the misconception that like if you
09:01Show up and sort of mutter some improv, you know within earshot of a normal person
09:06That you that will that there's a show quite to the contrary the show it involves a very precise work
09:14We knew that our cameras were here here and here you are coming in and talking to hero, right?
09:20Part of your job before you get into the scene is you keep talking to him, right?
09:24Right, right. Oh, that's yeah
09:24Yeah, so you you're talking like this because now here is going to talk to me this way
09:29Right and now I'm now we can see the hero, right?
09:32You're blocking has to be very precise in certain cases. It's just I think it's just a twisty
09:38Oh
09:39Oh, man, it was actually more like doing a stage musical at certain points than doing an improv show just
09:48for sheer precision
09:49Yeah, don't do it
09:52Go stop
09:54Slap the pin out of his hand
09:56Hey
09:56Hi
10:02You can face us, that'd be a funny place to panic
10:06Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
10:08And then we see you like this, right? You're holding on a rope going
10:10What? Oh my god, hi guys
10:11And then like trying to move and you kind of can't move
10:13Okay
10:14Yeah, Jackie
10:16Oh my god
10:19Oh, this is my black ass doing here
10:24Oh
10:25Pull the top, pull the top
10:26Don't break it
10:26What?
10:28Oh
10:36I almost just destroyed Max
10:41One, two
10:43To prepare for the battle that happens in the Doug Cathaline, Wendy who plays Elizabeth and I met with Charlie
10:50Who's the stunt coordinator on this the hardest part of rehearsing for that was doing it while balancing on the
10:56inflatable course
10:58Yeah
11:01I don't know how you prepare for that. It is really hard to stand up there. This is designed to
11:05take you
11:06So, I mean if you want to reach with the elbow a little bit, it's natural
11:11Two and
11:12The biggest part of that sell honestly was then Wendy ran over to the side and got bloodied up for
11:18that reveal
11:25So that he didn't know that this is all just like tv magic
11:28You're trying to create the perfect family of grandma's hot sauces
11:33We have not tried this one yet. No, we tried the green and you did not like the green
11:40It's smoked forward
11:53It is day one enjoy it have a great day today
11:57We buy all the fun and games that we're going to get into for the next two weeks
12:01We're all so excited to be working with everyone in this room. So, thank you very much. We've done we've
12:06come this far
12:08Okay, here we go again, let's do it. Yeah, Brian heroes landed heroes landed
12:17Uh, two are let me see you widen out and include a piece of pj in your frame there
12:23Let me get a let me get a little
12:24A long push in on our hero
12:28I think the conference room lights auto turned off. That's fine
12:32Okay, we had probably
12:3545 50 cameras
12:36So you got tents everywhere everything has to be blacked out
12:41Another false wall we've shortened this hallway
12:48Like I just all of this for a little old me
12:58What's the proper name for this room control room and every day there'd be about 30 people hiding in this
13:05room
13:06silently and we would sneak out every morning and every evening you know
13:10It's crazy like I was like what like we never go back here. What is this?
13:14All right, let's uh keep on coming. Let's go anthony these carts
13:18yeah
13:19Yeah, there's cameras in those
13:22Hidden cameras everywhere everywhere there were hides everywhere like the garbage cans
13:28Look like just regular old garbage cans and there's cameras behind them you're walking there's a camera tracking you on
13:34a wire
13:34Yeah, it was really cool
13:37Oh
13:41Oh my goodness
13:42You looked right at that lens today for five seconds. Yeah, look straight at his lens
13:47Yeah
13:48Yeah, when you were waiting for the blocks
13:51No, no clue
13:52I'm trying to replay everything in my mind all at once of
13:56How how did I miss this? How did I you know?
13:58How did I not see any of this going on every morning?
14:01When you would leave all these people would come in and then we would go back out
14:07I was kind of curious because sometimes like we would literally just go get breakfast in the morning and come
14:11back and I'm like
14:14We send hero off on a run
14:17Then a hundred people swarm into this little area like cockroaches coming out of the room
14:23And then we have this quick meeting because he's coming. He's coming. He's coming. We got to get out. We
14:27got to get out
14:28All right guys super super short because he's got a tiny run because it's late. We got to get out
14:36of here, but
14:36Holy great job
14:41A hundred people swarm out and then it's just the like 14 of us
14:46You look at my card
14:49Yes cameras are down, but like we're still in character
14:55Come on, dude
14:56Boom
15:15Welcome right right right right in the middle where you belong
15:18That was a little strange to me. I was like how's the assistant right?
15:21You're like I'm friends first day. You were like damn. I got me from front and center
15:30Did you hear about how we almost ruined our own ending today?
15:35Well, hey, how are you? Well and yourself?
15:37Good, appreciate it. Of course when the notary arrived we needed him to lock his keys and his stamps in
15:43the car to delay the signing
15:44But when he pulled up and I'll just be showing you to where they're located
15:47I don't know
15:48This car was like you just go over and reach in yeah
15:53Reach in and open it
15:54And we were like oh, no
15:56Marjorie we have an emergency
15:58I need her card. Do you have the card?
16:00I need you to hustle over towards the front of the welcome center
16:03Hustle over towards the front of the welcome center
16:05Okay, so what should I do?
16:07He can't play the locked bit now because the windows open on this car and he doesn't realize it
16:12So you gotta come help him asap asap run you gotta hustle down there marjorie. Sorry. You're like oh good.
16:17You're here
16:19Oh, good. You're here
16:21You know, I
16:23Hang on
16:24Get him now get him now. He's about to he's about to go back
16:30Hey, I'm marjorie. Hey marjorie. Yeah, how are you? Nice to meet you? Sorry. Nice to meet you. You made
16:35it. Yeah, I made it
16:35Hang on one sec
16:37No, no, no, no, no get him. No, no, it's okay. Okay, you're good. So you just go back to
16:44the business center. Okay, I'll show
16:45Yeah, sorry. Okay
16:48Well stay with them. Stay with them. Stay with them. Okay slowly walk behind him
16:52You know, we appreciate you coming out and uh helping us get through this is this uh
16:57I guess deal. All right, make sure they don't come back. John's gonna run out roll up the window. We're
17:01gonna lock the car
17:01He realizes
17:07Doug he doesn't know the car is locked yet
17:09So he's gonna have to go back and check for his stamps in the car. Oh my god. I uh
17:15I left my stamps in the car. The car is locked, right? Yes
17:20We're gonna give MVP to Marjorie
17:23Marjorie you saved our bud. Yeah, no problem. I look forward to explaining to me what the hell just happened
17:32Can we hold on a second listen that's where they're going
17:38Those are fire trucks better there was there was something that smelled like smoke earlier
17:44As of four minutes ago three helicopters working on it. It's five acres. Yeah
17:49There is a helicopter right there
17:52That day that the plane we were like we can't hold for sound
17:57We can't hold for sound
17:58Three planes three helicopters. That was wild
18:01It was insane. We're making plans in case anything happens and escalates we need to move very quickly
18:05So everyone have a state of readiness of care in us. Did you guys call the like
18:10For me or yeah, did Marjorie? I don't know if my did Marjorie call like
18:15Helicopter rescue? I don't think so. Oh when you were missing maybe. I hope she didn't call. I don't think
18:26Oh something we should let you know is that like we had a lot of speakers in educational classes only
18:32about like three or four of those were like real
18:36Most of those were like just actors pretending to try to give advice and get jokes out of it
18:42Any other questions? Yeah. Yeah, can you speak about the corrosive influence of money in politics?
18:49Helen's eyes are closed
18:53Just making sure we were supposed to not laugh during seminar, but I failed every time. I'm gonna put be
18:58a whore on my bucket list
18:59Oh my god. Oh do not do that. Do not do that. I couldn't help but laugh because it was
19:03ridiculous
19:04What are you doing? Why did- why did you turn my computer off? This is like the fifth time
19:11today
19:12I had a huge problem with the seminars because I couldn't stop laughing
19:17But if I was an HR representative and you hand me this I would have thought that said cheerios
19:21So that's- you can learn a lot by handwriting
19:25Thank god my penis remained in my suit but the testicles was what I was worried about
19:30The Scott Norris workshop talking about his balls
19:34I mean it was all shocking like we didn't know what was gonna happen in the seminars a lot of
19:38the times
19:39My testicles are black
19:41They're hard. They're ice cold
19:43Now the dead tissue that were my testicles. I take myself
19:47I mean Ian Roberts was so funny. It was just like he really just like pushed
19:52The buttons over and over and over without breaking
19:56Pushed snow next to my testicles and at this point. I'm like god kill me
20:03One of my favorite memories
20:06Was when rob and I were making out at sagebrush and I have that earwig in and
20:13Just giving notes to rob's inside of his mouth
20:17Going like they're still coming. They're watching. They're coming. Oh, keep going
20:20It was so funny because we you could like feel each other's smile
20:27Can you see when they come back?
20:28Uh-uh
20:31Okay, I mean now you have to get ready
20:34Oh my goodness. Yo, they was I mean after other Anthony was hitting the moves
20:39He's coming guys. He's coming
20:40What do you think? He's coming
20:42He's coming
20:43What my thing?
20:45Bruh
20:46Bruh
20:47Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
20:49Keep going, keep going, keep seeing you
20:51Keep going
20:52Keep going
20:55To go from saying no to Kevin down to making out with other Anthony, I'm just like Amy
21:00No herpes, no hickey
21:02No relationship
21:05And this might be uh the most unbelievable thing to you, but I have two kids
21:15My position here is assistant sourcing and procurement manager
21:21So I'm in charge of like um ordering all the ingredients for the hot sauce oh hey
21:27Um the way he acted like I believed every moment of who he was and just his personality
21:35I was just like he's an interesting character
21:38Well, he's your mailman mom. He's not he's I don't think he's spying
21:42He's allowed to open that that's your mailbox
21:45I don't want this to come across the wrong way, but are you a mama's boy?
21:48Uh, uh, uh, uh, yeah, uh, yeah
21:51Hey, no, no shame. Hey, hey, no shame
21:54I called home to my mom just as much as I called to talk to my son
21:57This is strength right here. Right, right
22:00And what did you think of this season's bad guys when uh true kiss showed up?
22:06They were like
22:08Robots honestly to me, um, they were just part of this big company that they all looked alike
22:15I don't really have a dog in the fight. I just wish what's best for the employees
22:20I will say that I hope we don't see a big business take over and uh turn it into something
22:26that it's not
22:26My heart's been with you even though i've i've had i've needed you to hate me, but i've loved you
22:31watching
22:32I'm not gonna lie you did an amazing job
22:34I still have a little bit of not really but like I still have like when I see y'all
22:38i'm like
22:39These guys get them out of here
22:42They did they did a great job acting as well
22:44It was acting because uh, we're not we're not robots
22:47We actually have like souls and it felt so shitty to be mean and like to these people because you
22:52guys were so warm
22:53I'm shitty i'm actually mean
22:56I will say this if true kiss thinks they can just come in and do whatever they feel like they
23:01want to do they're in for a rude awakening
23:04Also, you might like to know that uh as they became known
23:07Um boy red and girl red uh we're also writers on the show
23:13These these two yeah we got reports back you were saying stuff like man you can't write this stuff
23:17I guess you can
23:24Dougie ran away and you were like he's got to be up that mountain we're like who sent him this
23:30Yeah, I mean a part of me feels like he might have went that way just to go get like
23:35lost in nature
23:35He'd be by himself like oh, yeah, like up in the mountain
23:39The only place I could think is like he would cross over the river and like go be up by
23:43himself in nature like up in the mountain
23:45That makes sense. That makes sense. That's a good point
23:48Yeah, we got to find him. We're like that's not part of the script yet
23:52We still got three more lines. Hold on. Okay, we gotta go
23:55This whole show is predicated in a way on a normal human being being smart enough and being curious enough
24:02to make all the connections and being able to put
24:04The plot together and everything and caring enough think about coming back
24:08Maybe for like at least the last couple days just so that way you get to have this experience with
24:13us
24:13And then we get to have this experience with you man
24:15I've been telling you I think you should come back
24:17But you know if you're not ready to come back then I get that it was meant to kind of
24:20be like
24:21Maybe I'll sort of come back or whatever and that invitation came almost right away
24:25It was like come back come back
24:27Are you the amazing father that I looked up to yes, I have a daughter
24:34I'm doug jr. CEO of rock and grandma. You're not doug jr. I did it again
24:40Senile old person checking out here. We go. I'm doug womack. You know that
24:45You're the best. Don't worry about it
24:47I love you it's okay. It's okay. My son dougie womack union
24:53I love you buddy. I love you. I love you. You're the best. I love you
25:01Take care. I love you
25:04I think that's really what sold like them being you know even if this was a show everybody was acting
25:11like I still would have believed that they were
25:13Related or like that was pops because they were kissing each other
25:20You know this is a big dude if he wants to kiss you're kissing
25:25Is there anything you want to ask these guys about stuff that happened or was your face really breaking out?
25:30No
25:32I'm sorry
25:32In my head I was like she's a little wild like she knows it's gonna you know mess her up
25:36But she kept going anyways
25:38When I have the allergic reaction to the crab legs was one of my favorites just because it's like
25:44You know anthony goes down the hill. We had 20 minutes to kind of get me into this makeup
25:48All right
25:49Day is about to get better. What do you think about turf and surf?
25:56Does that feel good for you guys? Yeah, I think so
25:59Yeah, they're saying yes
26:00Get her back out
26:01Okay, let's get her out
26:03She's out
26:03Go go go go go
26:04And then I had to pretend to be having this big allergic reaction
26:09Your face
26:10What what?
26:11Oh my god
26:11It's like broken out
26:13You need to go get better
26:15I don't know if people make that noise but my grandma did that all the time
26:19She always had itchy ears and she would walk around the house being like
26:24And I was like that's disgusting
26:30I don't know if I can't imagine what he did
26:38It's just so cool
26:39And like you accepted all of us and we yeah, I don't know it just
26:43It makes me laugh that you would give Dougie a chance
26:47Oh
26:49Early on in the process I said something to jimmy
26:53I said this will be the best gig we ever have
26:57And it's because of you anthony you changed my life for real and you changed all of ours so
27:14I would like to say one more thing like I'm really still shocked and surprised is my word because I'm
27:19still surprised like in this moment
27:21Even though I know the the jig is up or however you say it like um y'all did a
27:26phenomenal job and thank you
27:28Well, thank you. It would be really weird if you weren't shocked
27:33I still love each and every one of you guys even though y'all were lying to me
27:38If there's one thing I can take away from the rocking grandma experience was it's not the job
27:43It's the people that you work with and the environment that you go to every day is what makes you
27:46feel like
27:47Whole and makes you feel like you're doing the right thing
27:49Oh, yeah, you had me working this hard and you had a pump the whole time
27:55My bad
27:58You're good man. Take a breath breathe. No, all right. Yeah, no, I appreciate it as long as you're being
28:02yourself
28:02Yeah, that's all that matters. That's true. Yeah
28:14You're doing good work, man. Keep keep rolling with the punches boss. You got it
28:18It really just starts with the way that they made me feel they made me feel very welcome and at
28:22home
28:23I want to whisper something here that I meant to tell you when we were in europe
28:26But I just couldn't speak if I had a son. I would want him to be you
28:32And that's the truth. I know if you had a son, you would be better than you
28:35I don't think there's very many people better than you
28:40So I definitely was taking away the fact that whenever I go back to look for my purpose in life
28:44is to make sure that
28:45Whatever it is. I'm doing is I'm doing it around the right people
29:03All right
29:03Stay tuned for a special follow-up series taking us behind the scenes of company retreat
29:08Currently boarding my airplane on my way back to la
29:18Okay
29:21I have a lot of questions for you. Oh, I know you too, man. I'm sure you do
29:24I don't miss regimen so they've been here already
29:27No, I'm here
29:30I thought I was only doing one season of this show not a series regular
29:33This is boss, man
29:34The first cut, man. You look good, brother. It's good to see you
29:37I mean, I've got a million questions. I don't feel like I should have been rewarded
29:41I don't think that y'all should call me a hero or anything like that because I just feel like
29:44I did what I was supposed to do
29:51In fact, you know
30:05You
30:05I
30:05I
30:05I
30:06I
