00:02previously knitters tackled intricate jewelry sets i've got this super tiny crochet needle
00:09before their most challenging team knit yet lace lighting it's not going to be finished
00:16lydia secured her second big knitter win it's the first time i felt something's perfect
00:23ailsa fell short there's something missing here but ultimately simon was the sixth knitter to be
00:31cast off now we've reached the semi-final and only four knitters remain and you're probably wondering
00:40why on earth i look like this well this week it's all about turning rags to riches welcome to the
00:49semi-final of game of wool welcome back game of wool knitters can you believe we've gone from 10
01:02down to just four of you in the yarn barn well that can mean only one thing it's the semi
01:08-final
01:10the tension in the yarn barn is like never before little knitting gag there for you now you might be
01:16wondering why you're looking at a mannequin covered in a bin bag well that's because for this week's
01:23group challenge diane sheila would love for you to refashion
01:30old charity shop aaron jumpers into a catwalk worthy dress
01:40we would like you to work in two groups of two to reimagine the iconic aaron sweater
01:50in the repurposing use existing scraps from the haberdashery we want to see something that's ready for
01:58the catwalk we will be looking very carefully at execution and finishing
02:07how you put the pieces together how you seam them how you join them and it has to fit the
02:12model perfectly
02:15well as usual diane sheila are going to have to leave the yarn barn because
02:18this challenges judge blind so teams in team one elsa and isaac in team two holger and lydia you have
02:3110 hours to turn your jumpers into a catwalk worthy dress let's get knitting
02:43it's the semi-final and the knitters are kicking it off with the team knit the catwalk challenge is
02:49all about standing out from the crowd and in a team of two there will be nowhere to hide
02:54semi-finals is very intense the stakes are very very high when you think about one person is going
03:01to go you want to put your best foot forward this week first knitted over a hundred years ago off
03:07the
03:07coast of ireland the aaron jumper has become a modern knitwear hero celebrated for its complex
03:13textured stitch patterns rich in symbolic meaning we've given each team two hand-knit charity shop
03:21aaron jumpers to utterly reinvent from the cozy to the couture there we go
03:31oh god no
03:34the haberdashery has been freshly stocked with offcuts and scraps available for them to knit
03:39into their catwalk pieces oh look at that that's perfect this could be interesting
03:45you only get one chance to impress on the runway so the knitters must showcase innovative design skills
03:52confident garment construction and a perfect fit to create a high fashion dress all in just 10 hours
04:0010 hours isn't a lot of time it's a different one yeah i'm worried
04:09refashioned charity jumpers what was the inspiration behind this challenge waste is a massive issue when
04:16somebody has knitted a beautiful aaron sweater and it's gone maybe a little bit past its date
04:22you can actually repurpose and make it something incredibly fashionable chic even and that wool
04:30garment has got another life we really want to see the aaron as the star of the show one of
04:37these knitters
04:38is not going to make it to our final what could go wrong in this challenge design is going to
04:45be huge
04:46here we want to see not just how they join pre-knitted pieces together but we want to see what
04:54they're
04:54adding in themselves this will take a certain amount of boldness and bravery we have four really great
05:03knitters now i really want to see that everybody has found their voice and been able to put their design
05:11ideas into this piece any first thoughts isaac yeah i i yeah
05:24we could take the sleeves out take the neck off and just do sort of like halter net
05:29i think both of us really like this color we could just go down the raglan seams do like an
05:33eye cord edge in that same color that was the only thing i had and then everything from down i'm
05:40like
05:40miss me i have no ideas what were you thinking of the skirt at the front it could be like
05:46a mini skirt
05:47long at the back short at the front like a kind of tinker bell type kind of jaggy shapes so
05:54that her
05:54legs are out at the front but then she's got this kind of floaty thing going on at the back
05:58okay okay
06:03ailsa and isaac plan to remove the arms from both jumpers using the bodies to create the top and
06:09bottom panels of their dress isaac will tackle the top and plans to knit a new ribbed halter neck
06:15and crochet a lace corset into the back ailsa will focus on the bottom half creating a tinkerbell skirt
06:22with arranged strips of material and over embroidering extra detailing using a yarn winder they will unravel
06:29purple yarn from haberdashery offcuts to create one cohesive color scheme ailsa and i have been in
06:36a team together before the ability and the talent is so high but i also think that we're relatively
06:42equally matched so it is really just going to come down to the small details while isaac and ailsa
06:48are preserving the original shape of the jumper as a dress holger is ripping up the rule book
06:54it could theoretically take the front piece and make it into a giant sleeve yeah i think it would
07:01be quite nice if you could have these literally start going all the way down but we i think also
07:06you could this could could be set in like a godet massive skirt like you know big sleeve or something
07:11yeah okay yeah i think fitted is important i don't want it to be like oversized okay
07:21the front and back panels will be transformed into two balloon sleeves and blanket offcuts from the
07:27haberdashery will form the body of their dress the original jumper sleeves will then become the bottom
07:33half of the dress with newly knitted godets inserted triangular panels adding volume and flair
07:40i hope they'll appreciate the creative use of the pieces that we have we're going to divide and
07:45conquer i think it's very clear that holger is a stronger sewer than me and that is totally fine
07:50but i am a faster knitter than holger this looks like a finished dress you've been throwing stuff
07:57at it but whose idea was to put all of these in these places look oh goes holger came up
08:04with the
08:04sleeve i wanted a fitted item let's not kind of tally who does what here um we're just all doing
08:11our best
08:12so what you're trying to say is that it's a collaborative event holger has more of a design
08:16background than me so i'm happy to take more of his lead in terms of initial vision but actually when
08:23it comes to what we finally decide to do i'm not just going to go yes holger sure holger like
08:28it's
08:28going to be both of what we decide okay do you have a name for your dress yet no i've
08:34got a couple of
08:35ideas oh god yeah i was afraid i was going to come cape blanket oh for god thank you sleeve
08:43and fry
08:49have you ever made a dress fit for the catwalk before never made a dress before never made anything
08:53fit for a catwalk oh that's not true this is the mini skirt part ending here and then the back
09:02will be
09:02longer where all our wee bits will be trailing i can see on there it looks like some kind of
09:07like
09:09peacock yeah business in the front part in the back yeah i like that so are you planning on unwinding
09:14that
09:15one then is it it's just a really nice yarn having the sort of unity by using the same color
09:21in multiple
09:21places across the whole thing is going to make unraveling these worth it i don't understand why he's
09:27taking he's taking he's taking these and unraveling it's like why um to secure my spot and final i've
09:35got really pull out all the stops now i think i'm onto a winner with this strand oh here we
09:39go i'll cut
09:39let's see some winding okay yes oh this is amazing
10:00how you doing over there plod non how are you just beavering away
10:11lydia is now working on the balloon sleeves carefully picking up live stitches from the
10:16original front of the jumper to create a new tight cuff this piece here was actually the back of the
10:23jumper but managing the stitch pickup matching the tension and ensuring a seamless blend from aaron
10:29jumper into new knit won't be easy you've got this billowy sleeve that's being created by this piece
10:35of ribbing here so i've picked up stitches to pull this in tighter it's gone from that width to this
10:43width
10:45it is so close now i really want to get to the final it's like we've come this far i
10:51know i've put my
10:51best foot forward i think winning would give me opportunities whether that be with our yarn
10:58business doing more designing or maybe i'm on the trajectory of alison hammond like that would be
11:04fantastic wouldn't it you don't know maybe our maybe tom needs a co-host and maybe it's me
11:18knitters you're halfway through five hours to go
11:23at the halfway point knitters should be starting to reassemble their aaron knits into couture catwalk
11:30pieces she's looking like something she's looking like something
11:36have you had a look over to the other side really it's very very different oh that's clever
11:42what they've done with the arms yeah that is cool i'm liking that traditional adding
11:53i'm now thinking maybe better just ditch the strips and the roughly bits at the back
11:59because this is centered and it would be a shame to lose that yeah i don't know
12:06what's your thoughts i trust your vision
12:11yep
12:20it's the semi-final and the knitters are over halfway through the team challenge reinventing the iconic
12:26aaron jumper into a runway ready star holger is carefully sewing the aaron panels into the blanket
12:34body of their dress i am attaching the second sleeve into the armhole there's still quite a bit of
12:40sewing to do while on the other team isaac has knitted a new purple neckline using the off-cut yarn
12:46he created earlier i'm just casting off the ribbed neck which i think is looking great
12:51which is a halter neck with only four knitters left the judges will be scrutinizing individual
12:57contributions in the team knit more than ever so the halter neck was my idea and the sort of like
13:03skirt and bottom section was elsa's idea we've got a good combination between the two of us holger
13:09is the stronger sewer but i am a faster knitter let's be real if i wasn't part of the team
13:13there probably
13:13wouldn't be a finished garment right lydia and holger where are we getting there so you're making
13:21another panel yes and i see you've pulled out the colors like this kind of mimics yes yes yes
13:27lydia obviously makes up for my slow as knitting by kind of whizzing through with her clickety clack of
13:33needles there behave okay does go day panels flank the main i see okay good so when you say go
13:44day
13:44it's very simple a go day is a more or less triangular shaped piece that is insert into the body
13:50of a
13:51skirt to create extra width go day go day mate
14:02isa can nails how's it going so i'm just doing like a little corset lace thing at the back is
14:08just an additional feature that we've added on top of the aaron oh okay how's the party in the back
14:14coming along it's a different kind of party a different kind of party it's a more sophisticated
14:20party now yeah yeah we had a bit of a chat about the the strips and the ruffly bits at
14:25the back and
14:26thought we need to get it absolutely perfect or not at all you think it's quite a big risk to
14:32change
14:33your plan this late in the game i know feeling nervous or are you feeling confident feeling
14:40confident yeah i'm always nervous
14:46that's right
14:46knitters you have one hour to go in the final hour teams must fit their catwalk creations to the live
14:54models yay models to the sleeves i mean it's a dress oh my gosh i think the back looks amazing
15:04can you turn around show lydia wow no yeah that looks great oh no oh no is it too tight
15:13i'm not
15:14so happy with the way that the back piece is setting thank you i mean we could force it by
15:27sewing it on like that and it'll force it to sort of like stand out a bit do you like
15:32we could try that
15:32or yeah i'm sewing in the second godet we both need to be sewing right now so okay we've just
15:42got
15:43to get these on we're literally speed sewing for our lives right now why does the thread always come
15:49unfreaded when you have no time breathe holger breathe
15:55if we could just have you step back into it now is it tighter yeah a little a little sort
16:00of cape
16:00yeah
16:06one minute we got one minute oh your hair i'm so sorry
16:14knitters needles down the challenge is over
16:18it's time to get those aaron jumpers on the catwalk
16:23okay attitude right yeah good good good
16:30isaac and elsa's approach was obviously very different from ours which it makes it unpredictable
16:35i think particularly as the group has gotten smaller your individual contribution in the group
16:40challenge could be the difference between staying and going so yeah it's intense
16:46well done knitters aaron you glad that one's over oh my gosh so let the knit way begin
16:57what do you think of the first one
17:15well we asked for aaron didn't we and we asked for fit and fit so this is one garment
17:21and this isn't from another garment and they've used that shaping really well round the back using
17:29another sample of knitwear the contrast color works particularly in certain places
17:36also this newly created crochet edge gives amazing fit because it can be laced yeah onto the body
17:45great it's really really great that top is really really successful
17:52with this very nice single rib neck cuff
17:59it looks a little bit bulky in a couple of places
18:06it ruches out doesn't it it does it's it's coming out because you have too many stitches
18:12yep i'm less sure about these wings
18:18very obvious stitching you know if you're going to do kind of sewing and adding things in when it gets
18:26to
18:26the catwalk level it has to be really really precise this sewing and edge doesn't work
18:33catwalk pieces have to have impact yes you have one chance on the runway to really say something
18:42and i think it just needed to be a little bit more wow well impact impact yeah
18:49thank you very much you ready for the next one
19:09i love this
19:13i think it's really really great the sleeves here i'm imagining might have been the original back
19:22and front taking the sleeves and making them into the body taking the body and making them into the
19:27sleeves is is very clever yeah the sleeves add this huge drama the shape is really good you've had to
19:37go
19:37from a huge number of stitches they have to bring them all in to a much much smaller number of
19:44stitches
19:45so that this works as a cuff we can see the aran is amplified by having strong colored godets
19:54for it to be offset with it's a lovely piece of knitting
20:01when the model walks the thing that you see is the aaron sweeping up the catwalk i love the way
20:08the
20:08aaron's been used it's making its own repurpose statement which is what we asked for aaron re-purposed
20:23okay diane sheila it's time to make your decision in first place this week is
20:33this dress here can i ask who made it it was me it was us us too so we felt
20:41this dress
20:41had the impact for the catwalk who knitted all the go days i knitted most of them but i did
20:48one i did one
20:49so ilsa and isaac some of the finishing we felt wasn't what we expect in semi-final week
20:59well let's see what the solo challenge has in store for us
21:04i mean we all know what the game is about when the solution challenge comes with every
21:09every man or woman for themselves it is so close now i really want to get to the final
21:20what a semi-final we've had so far and only our solo knit is standing in the way of the
21:25game of wool
21:26final not winning in the group challenge at this stage in the competition puts you in a really
21:32really precarious situation we'll need to really hit hard with the solos
21:39okay knitters it's time for the solo challenge diane sheila would love for you to make a refashioned
21:47bag we want you to make a bag but the important thing is the material and we want you to
21:57repurpose
21:57your material to make into a yarn the fabric that you have chosen has to work effectively
22:05as a yarn no matter what it originally was so we will still be looking for structure and stitch
22:13choices and finally practicality it has to function as a bag
22:22with a place in the final at stake you have 10 hours for this challenge let's get knitting
22:33for the solo challenge the judges are expecting to see exquisite and uniquely handcrafted bags made
22:40from unexpected fabrics i'm using running leggings and gym tights if it can handle people doing squats
22:47and they can handle your shopping this challenge will test the knitters yarn selection stitch precision
22:56and structural ingenuity pushing their skills to the limit in the last chance to secure themselves
23:02a place in the final i'm absolutely going to go into this fighting i i really want to go to
23:07the finals
23:10knitters are free to crochet or knit their bags but the first step is to create the yarn by cutting
23:16any material they want into long strips next they should construct the bags by either working in the
23:23round or by assembling individual panels which will be sewn together finally knitters must securely
23:29attach handles or straps to ensure their upcycled bag passes the judge's weight test
23:37refashioned handbags what inspired that challenge the thing that is really challenging about this is
23:44actually the material we really wanted to see what people could do with their own form of yarn we want
23:51them to consider a shape a form i think how they manage their handles is going to be a really
24:00big challenge
24:03with the team knit win in the bag holger has now got his sights on a record-breaking third sheet
24:08badge
24:09i am cutting up a bunch of t-shirts i've chosen t-shirts because it makes a very clean stitch
24:17definition what we're ending up with in terms of the overall look is something that's a bit more bohemian
24:22kind of festivally holger will be transforming a selection of t-shirts into a festival saddlebag
24:30his construction incorporates a combination of slip stitch single half double and double crochet stitches
24:37to give it a chic scalloped look while maintaining structural integrity he's also planning a shoulder
24:43strap a bespoke crochet button and decorative fringing glastonbury we're coming for you
24:51to be honest i'm not a great festival girl so i don't really know what you need to take
24:54i know i look surprised um but whatever you need it will fit in there
25:02it's good to see that you separate your darts and your lights in your laundry
25:06yeah so what have we got here we've got leg leg yeah these are a mixture of me my mum
25:14and my sister's
25:15gym leggings okay do you all go to the gym together as a family no no okay okay so why
25:23these well my design
25:24is an active bag for active people made from things that active people wear okay it was one world or
25:32two
25:32pattern i seen to make slippers from old stockings or tights so that's what made me think it's got to
25:38be
25:39tights elsa has raided her family's laundry basket for her variety of super stretchy yarn she will crochet
25:47her active bag alternating between double and treble crochet stitches to create a solid base
25:53finally she will add a shoulder strap and a water bottle pocket feel the burn baby
26:00so how are you feeling after the the group challenge i'm feeling all right after the group challenge
26:05holger and lydia's design was something special how are you feeling about the possibility of someone
26:11being cast off in this group all i can do is my best and hope that the judges like what
26:16they see
26:16supersiders of crochet yeah yeah i think with this material i've got to be quite conscious because i
26:23want it to stretch too much so i've got to take some of the stretch with me okay as i
26:28crochet and
26:29i think it's easier for me to adjust my crochet tension than my knitting tension sure well it's in
26:34the hands of dying sheila now isn't it yep the knitting gods
26:40also hoping those knitting gods will be looking down favorably on her is lydia she is upcycling wax print
26:46fabric for her bag a traditional african material known for its bold and vibrant patterns dresses
26:53hats you can make anything in wax print as i'm trying to show you right now with my bag but
26:59using this
26:59fabric as yarn is tricky because the stiff cotton has no stretch honestly knitting with this is a full
27:06body workout it is flipping hard work lydia's traditional wax print bag will be knit in the round
27:14using the linen stitch which creates a beautiful woven look but because of its density it takes longer
27:21to knit she will crochet around plastic rings to give her bag handles because i'm slipping every other
27:29stitch in the linen stitch i'm essentially doing each row twice so it grows really slowly so it's not
27:35going to be huge but it's definitely more like a handle top bag i would like to think i'm in
27:41with a
27:41chance to win big knitter this week but i don't think i'm the only one in with a chance so
27:46we'll just
27:46see which way the judges go
27:52two hours into the challenge and the knitters should be well into the body of their bags
27:56but isaac is still meticulously creating his yarn once i've finished the cups on this t-shirt
28:04it will unravel into one long strip i'm using scissors which may be a little slower going but achieving
28:13precision in the finished product is all in the working isaac what's the plan my bag is designed to
28:22look like a mint humbug i'm calling it a hum bag a hum bag isaac is using a combination of
28:30black and
28:30white t-shirts to create his hum bag he will knit the bag in panels of striped stocking stitch and
28:36then crochet around hair curlers for his handles finishing with a zip and after impressing with last
28:42week's lace he is planning to elevate his hum bag with a delicate lace crochet for the wrapper
28:47that's what i'm going to do with my grandmother my grandma always used to have a bag of mint
28:52humbugs that she would share out with people i grew up not far from my grandparents you know
28:57during the school holidays they used to look after me and i didn't know this until after she
29:02died but she used to crochet um and actually we found a pattern that she had been working on
29:07made of some lace and so the decorative wrappers on my bag are actually going to be that same
29:12lace pattern oh well that's really nice i'm kind of at a point in my life where the world is
29:18my oyster
29:18so this competition is just something that i can use to grow from i didn't go into this expecting to
29:25get on the show in the first place to get this far to win would just be gravy but i
29:32know my grandma
29:33she would have been proud of me regardless of what i produced yeah i know she's up there looking down
29:37on me being like come on get to the final with a place in the final up for grabs the
29:45judges are
29:46planning a rigorous weight test so knitters must consider strength as well as style
29:53how is that knitting up is it quite a struggle it's not the funnest thing to knit with no the
29:59goal
29:59for my bag sort of was to make it look woven so i'm doing the linen stitch yes i love
30:04linen stitch in weave
30:05you have lines going in both directions they're firm they do not give
30:13this actually gives you lines going in both directions in the same way
30:18and that creates strength yeah it's a really good stitch for bag material
30:28hello holger so what are you doing this is where we are at the moment the way this is constructed
30:33you're
30:34starting with very small stitches like slip stitches then you do single crochet half double double
30:39crochet you can see that v that forms here this is because the stitches in the center are taller than
30:44the stitches on the outside can i have a feel of course thank you great love the idea of that
30:51so when
30:52we get something heavy in this it will not do a deck chair on us it's not going to do
30:57a deck chair
30:57this structure will actually help that won't it and what's going to go there there's gonna be a
31:03crochet button oh well i'm very glad to hear that i said why not give it to you
31:12i've come into this to make it as far as i can the main thing for me is i want
31:18to enjoy this whole process
31:21i lost my last job just when the pandemic started and then my dad started to get less well because
31:28i wasn't working i decided to move back and look after him me and my life and everything was completely
31:33on hold so i was there for him which is absolutely fine because he's my he was my dad um
31:42but i felt
31:44after he passed and i came back to the uk i felt not only do i need to rebuild my
31:49life a little bit
31:50but also make this about myself and when i saw the casting call i thought you know what
31:56you can do something that you actually just indulge him
32:06painstakingly cutting his strips of yarn has taken isaac much longer than he anticipated
32:11it's just taking so long so he's now at least three hours behind i still need to connect the
32:16two of them and i also need to do the handles and the lace on the sides so i have
32:21like quite a bit to
32:22go isaac's failure to finish has come under scrutiny before so it's imperative he stays on track with
32:28this challenge yeah i think i think time's probably my biggest enemy
32:35hi elsa what are you doing i'm making a gym bag from gym leggings oh
32:45in terms of holding the weight you're sure you've done your research you've done your homework
32:51as i'm going i'm trying to take stretch out of it by adjusting my tension to try and keep it
32:56even okay
33:03okay holger do you mind taking wee tom out there please he's got a message for you
33:07hezi where is it you're halfway through the challenge oh knitters you are halfway through
33:12the bag challenge at the halfway mark knitters should be starting to complete the body of the bags
33:20and working up the straps handles and finishing touches i'm happy with how it's coming together but
33:26my god it is hard work having nightmares about like how to stabilize the bag i was like i might
33:34have to start cutting into my own trousers to get some strength into this thing please don't
33:39cut into your trousers wee sad school boy leaving the barn
33:45this competition is quite tough i feel like the first half i'd been given a few high ranks been given
33:52the
33:52first sheep i was feeling quite confident but then from week four kids week i was like hmm every week
34:00since then i've had a bit more doubt over how well i'm doing at this stage in the competition the
34:06pressure is definitely on it is quite daunting
34:15looking for a darning needle that's big enough to put my tights through so that i can get the pockets
34:20on
34:21i'm trying not to feel defeated i'm rattled i think that's me i think that's me a goner
34:33it's the semi-final and the knitters are over halfway through their solo challenge
34:38upcycling unusual fabrics into show-stopping bags
34:43i think the biggest workout these leggings have seen is this one
34:48it's quite tough to use good job there's a five-time olympian on hand do you think we should
34:54do some hand yoga oh god stretch them out to the side touch your head shoulders knees and tails
35:03yeah you got them all right in the final stages of the challenge knitters should be attaching handles
35:11or straps strong enough to withstand the judge's weight test but while some are reinforcing with
35:17structural elements i'm going to be using these as the handles i need to crochet into the bag around the
35:23handle to secure it in doing the shoulder strap i'm crocheting over a core because this has no stretch
35:29whatsoever there would be nothing worse than diana picking up the bag and the handle falls off
35:34ailsa is hoping the strength of stitches alone will pass the test
35:39if i make my tension really tight i can take the stretch out of it it's a stretchy fabric that
35:45seems
35:45like such a stupid decision now i think i'm on a sugaly peg
35:52a sugaly peg just means that my position's not secure knitters we have one hour to go until we
36:00find out whether you have designer bags or bags for life pressure is on with one hour to go knitters
36:09should be moving on to the final flourishes you're putting on the button the button was the last bit
36:13was crocheted how much more have you got left to do the fringing and the lining you're lining it i'm
36:19trying to i just need to do my handles now it's not looking likely that i'll get any lace on
36:27with less than an hour remaining isaac is sacrificing his humbug wrappers i'm feeling
36:33disappointed that i'm not going to get to do the lace that my grandma had done i've once again
36:37messed up my time this is something that i'm known for i'm just adding my little water bottle slot
36:46at the side just to add another wee bit what am i doing that's a lost cause i don't think
36:53there's
36:53anything to lose by trying it and if it looks awful rip it out which it does anyway no that
36:59is not that
37:00is not what we're saying right now it's what i'm certainly thinking i'm on my second handle i've
37:06hit my peak with this i just want to stop i'm so close to the end i'm so close to
37:10the end but i just
37:11want to stop i'm literally just cringing and it is just strips of fabric that are being pulled through
37:19i don't know why my zip's gone there it is um actually no handles more important sorry it's a bag
37:29with secure handles feeling good and i think that's where we're gonna leave this wow hold it up there
37:36you go wow that's a bag knitters your time is up even in its full glory i don't think my
37:45bag is super
37:48attractive after 10 hours that's four refashioned bags in the bag feeling cautiously optimistic i've
37:57done everything i can do i really just ran out of time like that's all it was it doesn't have
38:01a closure
38:01it doesn't have the features that i was planning on putting on it it's not clean it's bad it's really
38:07bad well done knitters it's now time for di and sheila to try out your bag so first up we
38:14have lydia
38:24uh this is strong amazingly strong fabric you're using a linen stitch which you're probably
38:34regretting at this point but it does give a look of a woven bag which is really nice
38:42and of course everything is built from the base and you've integrated the handles into this for
38:48strength quite a nice fashion accessory i think we're ready for the weight test
38:54can we have some weights tom yes you may so here i have two balls of yarn that weigh one
39:00kilo each
39:00so you've got a two kilogram weight test here we go in they go
39:09that's held very well hasn't it did hold well the handles it didn't move thank you very much lydia thank
39:16you next up holger it's a very lovely bag with a feeling of luxury to it i do really like
39:29this
39:30shape really interesting lovely shape and this construction is like a scallop yeah the shell here and
39:41here ah a bubble a bubble a proper bubble button yes very happy to see that yes
39:50so this has given it incredible strength hasn't it which is actually a really good idea to use a woven
39:57fabric inside so you don't get that stretch and i like the tassels a bit of flamboyance and a bit
40:06of
40:06fun fun fun and you've lined it yeah it's good to have a lining i think it needs the weight
40:14test
40:19that's really not bad thank you very much holger thank you next up we have elsa
40:36so this idea came from the repurposing of tights yeah that's a really nice concept and idea to take
40:44through to a sports bag we very much like the circularity of where it came from and what it
40:53ended up being used for the construction hasn't quite worked it is quite tricky working with the
41:01fabric that you chose and i think all those variations from the different pairs of leggings
41:07has given you quite a trouble in keeping that uniformity are you ready for the weight test
41:16here we go one and two
41:25i think it might be better if we pull up it needs that double handle thank you very much elsa
41:32isaac
41:39so it's a great idea the hum bag you were going to create a little lace for some wrappers yeah
41:47just
41:48ran out of time didn't make it no also your original idea for the fastening yeah it was it was
41:57a zip but
41:57again didn't have time not being able to put the zip in yeah and insert the lace has had an
42:05impact on
42:06the design definitely we don't get to see the sides coming together it sits open was it just that it
42:14took so long to manipulate just the creating the yarn i think i vastly underestimated how long it was
42:19taking me which is a shame do you think we should try the ultimate test here we come tom okay
42:26let's see here we go
42:32that's pretty good so a shame it didn't get finished yeah
42:39thank you very much isaac thank you
42:43what a knitters you really pulled it out of the bag there and for one of you victory is in
42:49the bag
42:49it is now time for me to take di and sheila into the situation room to see who has bagged
42:55a place in
42:56the game of wool final i'd flippin love to be the first person to get three badges that would be
43:04amazing
43:04i would feel it probably comes down to between lydia and me i can't really call it i'm definitely
43:12at risk of going home i think it'd be foolish to think that i wasn't at risk of going home
43:16there's a huge chance and a huge possibility that it'll be me saying goodbye today
43:24this week has been wild it's really getting close to the wire now who stood out for you
43:32so lydia and holger
43:37the long dress with the enormous sleeves it was pretty amazing the design for that dress
43:43was mainly i mean holger and lydia worked on it but holger was very much responsible for
43:47how it all came together but do you think that he was really able to show off his skills in
43:52that
43:52challenge i do yeah and they've done really well in the bag challenge yes both of them have done
43:57extremely well very strong so we have two people not performing as well in both challenges ailsa
44:13she seemed to have lost that sparkling design element that she puts into things
44:18she kind of just lost her way isaac his bag was completely unfinished by semi-final week we really do
44:29expect everyone to have finished their projects yeah so hard have you made a decision
44:46yes well knitters it's now time to find out who has knit big this week and guaranteed themselves
44:54a place in the final the big knitter this week is
45:21so the knitter being cast off this week is
45:34isaac
45:35oh good is isaac oh that hurt to say
45:41you've done incredibly well
45:44i had a bad week this is not a shock but in the best kind of way like i've just
45:49had such a fantastic
45:49experience yeah i'm very lucky this week it feels amazing to be in the final i really need to bring
45:58my a game next week me and i'll go both up there so it was going to be one of
46:02us so yeah i'm really
46:04excited to be in the final next week and i'm absolutely going to give it my all it feels like
46:08this is the last push now we're literally there we're on the cusp of the final we're about to kind
46:12of
46:13battle it out to the death next time
46:19welcome to the final of game of war we've come this far i'm going to throw absolutely everything
46:25i've got food for the stars and then you'll land on the moon britain's best knitter is
46:41you
