00:00...class lead, right? Dan Ammon currently holds on to that AM class lead, while Matt Dussek is currently giving chase,
00:06at least on our time, and is scoring by only about two-tenths of a second.
00:10But I think this goes all the way from, call it Totino, up here at this red and black car.
00:15I mean, we can count the 992 Cup cars from here.
00:18It is a long, long train, and this is a fierce battle right in the middle of the field.
00:26Indeed it is. And while most of it is the pro-AM, that AM battle is going to be so
00:31important. It's going to be hard to try and manage that with a bunch of cars.
00:35If they start fighting in front of them and slowing down, Dussek will no doubt try to pounce on the
00:41opportunity as we got a car off to the side.
00:43And he goes back across. Our leader gets collected. Dan Ammon from the AM category is suddenly out of this
00:51race in a flash.
00:52And we've got a full-course yellow immediately from that. It was just a loose car coming out of turn
00:58number 16.
00:59So unfortunate to see those two cars come together and get collected. We had a fantastic race going on.
01:05But folks, sometimes the accidents do happen.
01:11Well, I'm hoping everybody is okay. We'll try and feed information as we get it here from that one.
01:17And it was a decent-sized hit. Ludwig will be our leader after that in the 992 Pro-AM.
01:24Dussek inherits the lead in the 992 AMs.
01:28Meanwhile, Greg Cechi still leads down in the Cayman Pro-AM, while Natura leads in the AM for Cayman.
01:38As everybody gets packed up by the safety car and slowed down and makes sure that the safety teams can
01:46do their job and pay attention to those, unfortunately, involved.
01:50I believe I only saw two get collected unless you caught anybody else.
01:55No, I just saw the two.
01:58I don't want to jump to any speculation out here.
02:01I haven't seen any sort of replays.
02:02But it seemed pretty straightforward out there.
02:05And just unfortunately, with that car coming back across the line, Dan just really had nowhere to go from, at
02:11least from what we saw initially.
02:13I don't know if something had happened.
02:15Usually they try to ask the drivers to lock up the brakes if you have a spin.
02:20And yes, I agree with you.
02:22However, the more and more advanced we get in these cars, with the electronic aids and everything, with the ABS
02:30systems, when the car starts rolling backwards, it becomes a difficult situation no matter what.
02:35That's a really good point.
02:36So yeah, there could be more to the story that we don't know about on that one.
02:41And as you can see on the tower, it was Recovered and Ammon, the two, that were involved in that
02:48incident.
02:48Something that I do see, though, that's new for 2026 and USAC is I saw our medical car deployed.
02:55That's Dr. D out there.
02:57That's something that USAC has taken as a next step up in safety precautions to have a live doctor here
03:03on site.
03:03And it's great, even in small incidents, large incidents, it really just takes our entire safety up that level.
03:10And a dedicated doctor, too.
03:11That's the other thing.
03:12He's going to be there every single weekend, so he knows all the drivers and is well familiar with them.
03:19That should hopefully help quite a bit throughout the season.
03:23And probably a huge relief for the drivers, knowing that there's that extra level of safety and care being taken
03:32for this series.
03:35With everybody coming in, many of them starting their careers here with Sprint Challenge,
03:41the last thing you want to see is a career cut short by an unfortunate accident.
03:45Absolutely.
03:46And this paddock is growing massively, and it's just the steps that USAC is taking to ensure that they are
03:55growing appropriately.
03:56And we're actually coming up to the scene of the incident right here with Brandon Hankins as we kind of
04:03ride on board.
04:03I don't expect we're actually going to see a whole lot here.
04:06I think it's mainly going to be some bits and pieces off to a driver's left-hand side.
04:12Exactly.
04:13The good news is, while weather was a little bit of a concern yesterday, that's a lot of debris there.
04:20So they'll have to sweep that up as well.
04:23Safety team is taking care of everybody there off to the left-hand side.
04:27But the good news is, with the weather that I can see out the window, it doesn't look like we've
04:31got much headed this way this time.
04:33And what we're looking at right here with Hankins is what has kind of left us behind and is leaving.
04:39And that seems to be the worst of it.
04:42I also really enjoyed seeing that Brandon Hankins, as well as everybody in front, obviously can't see behind him.
04:51But they were all staying well clear, driver's right, of that incident.
04:56And Joe, I think that we're going to have a replay.
04:59So we saw him spinning.
05:01Let's see.
05:02This is off of 16.
05:05And, yeah, car...
05:06Oh, and it's the dirt, I think, that kind of did the rest of it in.
05:09And, yeah, just drifting back across the track.
05:14And Dan has got to be so frustrated with that one, knowing that he was leading his class.
05:20And, like you said, sometimes these things just happen and they're out of your control in racing.
05:25I'm going to talk a little bit about the corner down there, turn number 16, rather than kind of what
05:30we saw on the replay there.
05:32And I'm a firm believer that everywhere at Sebring is a low-grip area of the racetrack.
05:39But this corner in specific is, in my opinion, the lowest-grip section of the racetrack.
05:45And it is because there is a tiny, tiny bit of elevation right at apex of turn number 16.
05:52So low-grip means transitioning from left to right there in that corner.
05:57And you're really just trying to get the front end tucked down towards the apex.
06:01However, in a low-grip situation, oftentimes you get understeer before the apex.
06:07And if you get understeer in those low-grip situations, you're just kind of along for the ride until it
06:11grips up on the back half of the corner.
06:13And that's when, all of a sudden, you're either out of track on driver's left, which we saw, or you
06:18get a massive snap oversteer as well.
06:21Maybe even a combination of both.
06:23Yeah, it is one of the more difficult corners.
06:26And it's so deceiving because it's just a 90-degree right.
06:29You always think, oh, that's simple, right?
06:31It should be easy to attack, but it has that difficult entry on it.
06:36So there's so many different things that come into play as we now wait for everything to be cleaned up
06:46over there.
06:46And they've got the blowers at least getting rid of the debris on that corner exit.
06:51The other thing that I think maybe probably did not help in that situation is it looked like there may
06:57have been a bit of a lip on the side with that curb.
07:00That once that tire was over it, that was about all she wrote.
07:04Yes, I think that probably no matter where you drive the car off, it's never going to be a good
07:11situation.
07:11But like I said, in racing, these things happened, and I think that I'm just very, very thankful for all
07:19of the safety steps that USAC has taken out here.
07:22We mentioned the live, dedicated doctor on site, but also let's talk about these Porsche race cars.
07:28I mean, Porsche built such a strong race car.
07:31Rarely do we ever see the drivers get into any sort of trouble when an incident actually happens.
07:36Yeah, that's a big part of what Porsche has done over the development.
07:42Remember, they've been working on these cup cars, and now, obviously, more recently, the Caymans having joined the fray in
07:50trying to not ensure, just ensure that they're fast and fun to drive for the drivers, but also challenging.
07:57They want to make sure that ultimately the drivers are safe out there.
08:02And that is perhaps one of the biggest things that they work on as they continue to develop the technology
08:09inside these machines.
08:11And that not just is something that goes into the cup cars and the Caymans, but you think about the
08:19GT3 class cars that they run, the GT3 R, and other racing formats that Porsche goes competing in that help
08:29those as well as they learn and figure out how to prevent any sort of unfortunate accidents inside a race
08:37car.
08:39They kind of steer us back to where we're going.
