00:00So he pushed you as a team boss, he really pushed you.
00:03Always, always.
00:04Good.
00:06Good times.
00:08So I'm pretty sure that session won't be restarted.
00:10There's no point, we're 30 seconds to go, nobody can complete a lap,
00:14so the session will be over, and that's qualifying done
00:17for our first weekend, first race day.
00:20Of course, we're going to do it all again tomorrow
00:22for Ferrari Challenge North America here from the Thermal Club.
00:25Our final pole sitter, Mike Chen, is with Nina Jade Paul.
00:30Thank you, Andrew.
00:31Yes, our final pole sitter and your first ever pole position.
00:35Talk us through how you're feeling.
00:37Feeling very, very good.
00:38This is my first pole, which makes it very special,
00:41especially here, which is very close to my home in LA.
00:45Yeah, thanks.
00:46How important do you think starting on pole position will be for the race?
00:50Here it's very important.
00:51The track is not, it's quite narrow.
00:54I think passing could be hard,
00:58and especially with the track being so hot,
01:01the tyre can overheat if you are trying to pass someone,
01:04which makes the race later on be very difficult.
01:08So being on the pole is very, very important.
01:10So very happy to be on the pole.
01:12Well, congratulations, Mike.
01:13Please take your pole position award.
01:15OK, thank you.
01:17Oh, great stuff.
01:18All smiles and a job well done.
01:20So the red flag, unfortunately, was caused by Michael Owens.
01:23Here he is.
01:24He is OK and out of the car.
01:26We have a replay.
01:26It's a big crash, Tony.
01:28Here's the replay.
01:29So Tony Vlander is going to look at this with us.
01:31He was the Shalem champion last year.
01:33Remember, he was high up on the leaderboard,
01:35so he was going really well.
01:36It's the quick section of the back, Tony.
01:37Yeah, this is the S's.
01:38Oh, that's a huge shunt.
01:42Yeah, he lost it on the S's, so...
01:46Wow.
01:47Car had a rot.
01:48Yeah.
01:49Can we get that slower one more time?
01:50Can we go any slower on the replay in the track?
01:52We'll see if we're going to go one more time on this.
01:55He was fighting for pole position, that's for sure.
01:57Yeah.
01:58He was trying to improve.
02:00Champion last year,
02:01immediately to the top of Copper Shell.
02:03Hats off to him.
02:03The big question mark, Tony,
02:04is whether or not they have got a spare car
02:07or they can get that car out in time for the race later today.
02:09So he's riding the kerbs over the S's,
02:11took the kerb here,
02:12and just leaving the kerb,
02:14the car was leaning towards the left,
02:16and he just lost the grip.
02:18Rear left didn't have enough grip,
02:20and he just oversteered off the track,
02:22and it was a big hit.
02:24Luckily, there were tires there,
02:26tire barriers,
02:26because then a solid hit to the quad rail
02:31would have been a bigger one.
02:33But this car, in my opinion,
02:35is not going to start for the race.
02:37No, I think so.
02:37Looking at the rear quarter here by the fuel filler,
02:40I think there's too much,
02:41so it's either going to be a spare car.
02:42Spare car, yeah.
02:43Yeah, he'll have to take a team car for the race.
02:44And hopefully he's okay.
02:45He seems okay.
02:46He's out the car,
02:47and hats off to Ferrari for the design
02:49on the 296 Challenge car.
02:50Yeah, that's a proper safety cell in there,
02:52and he was...
