00:13And we're beginning with big breaking news that's coming in. Iranian media saying that
00:18U.S.'s attempt to rescue downed fighter jet pilot has been foiled. Remember, Iran has
00:24claimed that they've downed an F-35, the second F-35 that Iran claims they've brought down.
00:31Now Iranian media has suggested that there was an attempt by America to rescue the pilot
00:37of the fighter jet that was shot down and that that attempt was immediately quartered.
00:42Many people in southwestern Iran have gone to the area around the crash site. Iran, in
00:48a statement, has also called on people not to let anyone mistreat the pilot. At this
00:54point, we don't know exactly what the condition of the U.S. pilot is, but this is a huge, huge
01:00setback for America, for Trump, because once again, this will lead to domestic pressures
01:05as the casualties of war for America is only going up. Iran media suggesting that there
01:11was an attempt by America to, in fact, rescue the downed fighter jet pilot, but that it was
01:19foiled. And so the pilot hasn't been rescued by America.
01:27Remember, Iran has claimed that an F-35 fighter jet has been shot down. And at this point, Iran
01:35maintained earlier that the pilot's survival is unlikely. Now, in a statement that they've
01:41released, they've said that they've requested the local people not to let anyone mistreat the
01:46pilot, and to ensure that he is kept safe. But at the same time, Iran making it clear
01:51that there's no question of allowing America to hand over, to take over this particular,
01:57to come and rescue the pilot. That's the messaging that's come in right now from Iran. Big, big news
02:03that's coming in. And if, in fact, this happens, we will, in fact, see a huge escalation in all
02:11likelihood in the war. On your screens also is the video that's emerged right now of the
02:20moment, allegedly, when, in fact, that jet came crashing down after Iran downed it. They
02:27claim to have captured the fighter pilot and footage on your screens of that moment. Let's
02:32play it out for you.
02:38to join the video.
02:38Please pretend, let's go, please let's get review!
02:40Just come back!

03:07The dramatic footage released by Iran that shows the moment that this jet came crashing down.
03:14This is footage, let me again remind you, that it's been released by Iran.
03:17They claim at this point that the U.S. pilot has been captured by Iranian military forces.
03:22He did safely eject from that burning jet, but has landed in Iranian territory.
03:28And he's been taken in.
03:29Iranian media suggests that there's been an attempt by America to also try to rescue
03:33the downed pilot, but that that was foiled.
03:35I want to bring in Geetha Mohan for more details on this dramatic footage.
03:40Geetha, big, big, big escalation.
03:42If Iran has indeed captured an American pilot, it also means huge domestic pressure for Trump now.
03:49Well, this is going to be unprecedented in terms of the pressure itself.
03:56To have an American capture, an American pilot captured by Iranian forces,
04:02and by Iran, is not an option.
04:07It's not something that President Trump took into account.
04:12It is not something that is acceptable.
04:14To the extent that President Trump says that there could be losses that we suffer because we are in war,
04:21is different from a life capture.
04:25This is major, these are Iranian claims.
04:28We have to wait to hear from the American side.
04:32But if they have captured a U.S. pilot alive, then the entire conversation changes over here.
04:41There will be negotiations.
04:43Either they will bomb the daylight out of Iran saying, succumb and release,
04:48or they are going to get into a conversation, a negotiation on what to do next.
04:54But an Iranian forces having captured a U.S. pilot is certainly not something that was not gained over here.
05:05So, huge development, massive escalation.
05:09The response of America is going to be critical should the Iranian claims turn out to be true.
05:16We have visuals coming in of downing of the aircraft.
05:20We do not have any eyes on the pilot having one ejected and secondly having been captured.
05:28But these are claims that are being made by Iran and should it be true, Akshita,
05:35this changes dynamics completely on the negotiating table and on the war front.
05:45You know, this will lead to questions about what America will do.
05:48Will they now have to open up a direct conversation with Iran to ensure secure,
05:54safely ensuring their pilots' safety and securing their pilots?
05:57Geeta, you do refer to this as unprecedented.
06:00But what really is, in fact, the understood norm in such a case,
06:06you know, of prisoners, of war, of a pilot landing in enemy territory?
06:10What is the international law in such cases?
06:14We have seen, if we take only our example, and between India and Pakistan,
06:21there was a strict movement and India had absolutely threatened Pakistan with dire consequences
06:30should the Indian pilot who was in the Pakistani custody not be released.
06:37and we do know that there were conversations that took place with countries that mediated
06:43or had conversations with Pakistan for the relief of the pilot.
06:48And here, we are looking at a similar case.
06:51There would be similar conversations that will take place by many countries
06:57who are in conversation with Iran.
06:59And Iran is all probability, if you look at international law
07:04and the laws of COW, the prisoners of war.
