00:00My name is Tanguy and on social media I'm Yougi.
00:02I started making videos 2-3 years ago now
00:05And I'm mainly talking about films, series, documentaries, shows,
00:08A little bit of everything that happens on the platforms, really.
00:11It can take several different formats.
00:13Then there are the classic anecdotes from filming, for example,
00:16TV series recommendations, very old stuff
00:18or the things that come out and that you should watch or not.
00:20Movies to see at the cinema, and movies not to see at the cinema too.
00:22Or even the shows that are successful.
00:23So recently there was Nouvelle École or Love is Blind France
00:26which was excellent and I enjoyed talking about it.
00:29What's the hardest part of your daily life as a creator?
00:31The real thing is that I'm not just a creator.
00:33I have a job on the side, so the hardest part is juggling both roles.
00:36It's a day to do your normal job, whether it's a job to make ends meet or not, but another job.
00:41And in the evening, it's about making videos to keep up the pace, for example.
00:45We need to talk about current events because if we don't, we might miss the boat.
00:49And otherwise, in my niche, which is talking about films and series
00:52And since I want to talk about movies and series I've seen,
00:54The hardest part is watching movies and series, so in reality it's okay.
00:58You made a series of videos for the holidays, what's the most exhausting thing about this pace?
01:02What exhausted me most in creating these 25 videos was simply immersing myself in the process again.
01:06in series that I hadn't seen for years or months.
01:08So it was about understanding why I had loved them.
01:10And that's why I would recommend them to someone watching my video.
01:13And the second point, which was quite difficult, was the production of 25 videos.
01:17in a fairly short period of time.
01:1925 days is a lot, but as I said, if you have a job on the side, you have to be able to...
01:22TO DO
01:22And it was a fairly long video, 2 to 3 minutes, quite long for a vertical format.
01:26That's why, laughing at the end, in the last video,
01:29I was pleased with myself to have finished and to be able to say, "That's it, I can rest."
01:32In reality, I didn't really rest and I watched 15 Stranger Things videos in a row
01:35But in theory, I rested a little.
01:38What is your organizational structure for more ambitious projects?
01:41Generally speaking, I have ideas for videos all the time, all day long.
01:44I'm noting the idea down, and when I get home I'll write the script.
01:47or start writing it, maybe come back to it later.
01:50When I have a video idea, I don't necessarily make the video in an hour or I...
01:54placed on top,
01:55I'm working on a lot of videos at the same time.
01:56As for the Advent calendar, since it was a large volume in a short period of time,
01:59Each week in November I started to really write the scripts
02:02and after filming at the end of November/beginning of December, followed by editing.
02:06That time I really ran on fuel for two or three days
02:08but I had set aside a few days each week to potentially make some small changes to the videos.
02:13Which step takes you the most time?
02:15Actually, it's watching movies and series.
02:16Making a video from start to finish takes me about an hour.
02:20I think writing the script should take 15-20 minutes.
02:22The idea, they emerge a little bit throughout the day so in reality it's difficult to quantify it.
02:26So, 15-20 minutes for scriptwriting, 5 minutes for filming.
02:29The editing will take between 30 minutes and an hour, but my editing is extremely basic.
02:34I could do more, but my idea is precisely the vertical format.
02:37I make 300 videos a year, the idea isn't that it should take me 4 hours either.
02:41So what takes up most of my time is watching movies and series.
02:44Typically, on the Advent calendar, I think each video took me about 2-3 hours.
02:48because writing the script was longer, more complicated, and more editorial.
02:52How long does it take you in total, from the initial idea to putting it online?
02:55Does this duration suit you?
02:56So in reality the editing, the creation, the idea for the video takes about an hour.
02:59There are steps I'd like to shorten, or at least be more efficient and effective in.
03:04And it's the editing one because for now I'm doing a fairly basic edit.
03:07I have my automatic responses, I'm quite fast because I'm just doing a sound and voice synchronization.
03:12I quickly cut the plans and added two trailers.
03:14So it's quite easy, but it's true that I would like to gain skills in that area.
03:18Are there days when you don't feel like creating?
03:20Creating content on social media can be quite thankless.
03:23I don't necessarily consider myself an influencer, but factually I create 200-300 videos per year.
03:27And when the videos don't work, when you get insulted on some videos.
03:32So I'm lucky, it doesn't happen to me too often but it does happen.
03:35It doesn't usually bother me, but it's true that sometimes I think
03:37"Wait, I recommend a series to you for 3 minutes and you're just thinking my haircut is..."
03:40"Shit."
03:42It's not a big deal, but it's a little surprising.
03:44So it's in those moments that I think to myself, "What's the point?"
03:48I don't have the strength, I don't want to, and in those cases it's not a big deal, I don't
03:50Don't make videos.
03:51And actually, I always have between 5 and 10 on hand that I can program.
03:54And I, for my part, would not have created anything at all.
03:57But there will still be content on the platforms.
04:00Do you publish at your own pace or at the pace imposed by the platforms?
04:03I don't feel pressured by the platforms to follow a particular rhythm.
04:07But in reality, it's true.
04:08We need to publish regularly so that the algorithm likes us, or at least that's the idea.
04:13So factually yes, I am somewhat forced to follow a rhythm imposed by the platforms.
04:18Then, in the niche I'm making, which isn't really a niche at all anymore,
04:21movies and TV series.
04:22In reality, I don't have enough time to produce as much as I would like.
04:26That is to say, even if the algorithms did not impose on us, in quotation marks,
04:30I would publish so much, most certainly also because I want to tell my story...
04:35Well, not my life, but at least my opinions.
04:36Any advice for future creators?
04:37Actually, that's what I was told, it's just go for it.
04:41It sounds a bit silly to say like that, but guys, if you have something you like
04:44to do well,
04:45a topic you like or just if you like showing your face to a camera, do it.
04:48At worst, nobody will look at you.
04:51And at best it can attract lots of cool stuff like getting interviewed by Dailymotion.
04:55So in reality, you have to do it, you have to take the plunge.
