00:56eu me conheço um residente
00:57para aprender mais sobre a cidade's história e cultura.
01:00Hoje eu vou mostrar para vocês
01:02um templo no centro central de Hong Kong,
01:05chamado Man Mo Temple.
01:34Para colocar a deir face,
02:37Agora,
02:37é hora de provar uma verdadeira localidade.
02:40Então,
02:40nós vamos para um barato de café
02:41para provar alguns conhecimentos.
02:44Nós ensinamos Hong Kong-Style
02:46French Toast,
02:47com o clássico de milk tea.
02:48E terminamos com os deus,
02:50com os deus,
02:50com os deus,
02:51para completar o experimento.
02:53Esse crispy pineapple bun,
02:56apenas o nome significa pineapple.
02:58Eles não têm pineapple inside.
02:59Eles não têm pineapple inside.
03:00Eles não têm pineapple em eles,
03:01mas eles são realmente delicados.
03:04Hong Kong é full de steep hills
03:06e roads,
03:07mas é também o nome
03:08para o mundo mais longo de escalador.
03:11Estrechando sobre 800 metros,
03:13ele carrega 1,000 de pessoas cada dia.
03:16Tem muito a ver em Hong Kong,
03:17então você precisa de uma forma rápida
03:18de transporte para chegar até os hills.
03:20Isso saves a leg.
03:21At the top of the route
03:22are colonial-era buildings
03:24that once housed
03:25a police station,
03:26court,
03:27and prison.
03:28It became a heritage building
03:29for us.
03:30We keep the building
03:31and then we put all the outlets inside.
03:33Let's say some shops
03:34and some restaurants as well.
03:36It's a great place
03:37to finish our time together.
03:39And I'm looking forward
03:40to seeing more of what
03:41this energetic city has to offer.
03:46Hong Kong is one of the few cities
03:48where nature and skyscrapers
03:50sit side by side.
03:51And there's no better place
03:53to see that than Victoria Peak.
03:55I'm meeting a British expat
03:57who spent years in the city
03:58and knows all the best ways
04:00to explore the mountain.
04:01Really looking forward
04:02to showing you Victoria Peak today.
04:04So we're going to take
04:05the fastest way
04:06to get up the hill
04:07which is the Peak Tram.
04:09Dating back to 1888,
04:11the Victoria Peak Tram
04:12has been climbing the mountainside
04:14for over a century.
04:15Today,
04:16it's still a favourite
04:17with locals and visitors.
04:19We hop on the tram together
04:21and head to the summit of the peak.
04:22It's a scenic ride
04:24and one of the world's
04:25steepest railways.
04:26It just feels like
04:27you're lifting up
04:28from the city.
04:30It's amazing.
04:31And you can see why
04:32so many people want
04:33to come and experience this.
04:35To get a better view
04:36we make our way
04:37to a platform
04:38high above the city.
04:39The skyline is incredible
04:41even if there's
04:42a bit of fog below.
04:44So Hong Kong of course
04:45is known for its skyscrapers.
04:47We are the most densely
04:48populated city in the world
04:49by far, by far.
04:51We have over 3,000 skyscrapers.
04:54The mountain is surrounded
04:56by walking routes
04:57like the famous
04:57Peak Circle Walk.
04:59It's really popular
05:00with families, hikers,
05:02dog owners.
05:04This is such a lovely
05:05peaceful nature trail
05:07that you've got up here
05:08at the peak.
05:09Exploring this nature trail
05:11high above Hong Kong
05:12has been a unique experience.
05:14There are stunning views
05:16around every corner.
05:17And we end our walk
05:19at this viewpoint.
05:20the perfect place
05:21to take in the city.
05:23Thank you so much
05:24for today Amy.
05:25It has been absolutely
05:26incredible.
05:27The views are breathtaking.
05:29My absolute pleasure.
05:30It's my favourite place
05:31to bring people
05:31in Hong Kong.
05:32Yeah, I feel very relaxed
05:34now.
05:34Ready to go back
05:35to the hectic city.
05:40Another great way
05:40to see the city's skyline
05:42is the historic star ferry.
05:44Founded in 1888,
05:46it's famous for its
05:47affordable tickets
05:48and scenic journey
05:49across Victoria Harbour.
05:51Today, I'm taking a ride
05:53with a new friend.
05:54Hi, Lily.
05:55I'm Kaya.
05:56Nice meeting you.
05:56Lovely to meet you too.
05:57Welcome to Hong Kong.
05:58So today, we're going to
05:59hop on the star ferry
06:00to cross the Victoria Harbour.
06:03The 138-year-old service
06:04has long been a way
06:05for people to cross
06:06Victoria Harbour.
06:07especially when other
06:09transport options were limited.
06:14We board the ferry
06:15from Hong Kong Island
06:16and enjoy the beauty
06:18of the skyline
06:18as it passes.
06:21Since the ferry service
06:23started,
06:24the city has seen
06:24many changes
06:25but the boats
06:26still look the same
06:27as they ever did.
06:29I really love that
06:31contrast in Hong Kong
06:31where you do have
06:32the hectic city.
06:34Totally, yeah.
06:34You have the ancient routes
06:36and then all of a sudden
06:37you're in a completely
06:38peaceful environment.
06:40Yeah.
06:40Right in the middle
06:41of the city.
06:42Leaving the boat behind
06:43we head to a district
06:44on the mainland
06:45known as Kowloon.
06:47This was once a separate city
06:49but later became
06:50part of Hong Kong.
06:52We're exploring
06:53its famous flower market.
06:55It's a busy area
06:56full of colours, seeds
06:57and potted plants.
06:59So how do we bring
07:00a little nature
07:01into the tiny apartment?
07:02I think pot plants
07:03and flowers
07:04is the best solution.
07:05After admiring the flowers,
07:07we stop for some local
07:08street food.
07:09Here we try some
07:10authentic snacks
07:11made from simple ingredients.
07:13So this is the
07:14Hong Kong steamed rice rolls
07:15or we call it
07:16chung fun in our language.
07:18So it's actually
07:18steamed rice roll paper.
07:20These rolls can be enjoyed
07:21plain or stuffed
07:22with a variety of fillings.
07:24There's a lot of flavour.
07:25It doesn't seem like
07:26there's going to be
07:27loads of flavour,
07:27but there is.
07:28To end our time together,
07:30we try steamed dumplings
07:31and curry fish balls.
07:32They're both delicious,
07:34but the dumplings
07:35are definitely my favourite.
07:37These are the winners.
07:38Yeah.
07:39The perfect snacks
07:40before I jump into a taxi
07:41and return to my hotel.
07:45For my stay in Hong Kong,
07:47I'm checking into a hotel
07:48inspired by the iconic Star Ferry.
07:51The Fleming Hotel
07:52celebrates the city's
07:53boating heritage
07:54and has a real retro feel.
07:57Morning.
07:58Welcome to Fleming.
07:59Welcome on board.
08:00Thank you very much.
08:02It's a pleasure
08:02to be here in Hong Kong.
08:04Located in the famous
08:05Wan Chai District,
08:06it's perfectly placed
08:08for exploring
08:08the heart of Hong Kong.
08:11The rooms are full
08:12of Star Ferry
08:12inspired details.
08:14It almost feels
08:15like you're on board
08:16a luxury steamboat.
08:18And that same retro style
08:20carries through
08:20to the hotel's dining space.
08:22A great place to relax
08:24before heading out
08:24to discover more of the city.
08:29Hong Kong is more than just a skyline,
08:32and to see a different side of it,
08:34I'm heading to the largest island
08:36in the region.
08:37Just beyond the city,
08:39the pace truly changes.
08:41This is Lantau Island,
08:43where sea, mountains
08:44and spirituality meet.
08:47The island is popular
08:48for outdoor activities,
08:50especially mountain biking,
08:51thanks to its rugged terrain.
08:55Welcome to the adventure capital
08:57of Hong Kong.
08:59This is Lantau.
09:00You're going to come biking
09:01with us today.
09:02Just press that button.
09:03This is my first time
09:04cycling off-road,
09:05so I definitely need a few tips
09:07before heading out
09:08onto the trail.
09:09And then eyes at the top
09:10of that hill,
09:11pedal towards the top
09:12of that hill.
09:13The more I cycle,
09:15the more I start to find my rhythm
09:16and enjoy the ride.
09:19The scenery is absolutely breathtaking
09:21and as we head along the paths,
09:23I get a sense of how peaceful Lantau Island really is.
09:32After my two-wheel adventure,
09:34I head deeper into Lantau Island
09:36to visit a historic fishing village.
09:41Known as the Venice of Hong Kong,
09:43Tai O is famous for its stilt houses,
09:45quiet waterways and local delicacies.
09:49I'm meeting a local guide
09:50who knows this village well.
09:51There's fresh fish balls
09:53and then the shrimp paste
09:55that they've been making here in Tai O.
09:57I think it's definitely worth a try.
09:59The oldest fishing village here
10:01in Hong Kong right now is Tai O.
10:03It definitely is worth a quick stop
10:05before heading on to our final location.
10:13So here we are at the Big Buddha.
10:15Yes, it's actually the world's tallest
10:17seated Buddha statue.
10:19Wow, it is pretty high up there.
10:21And how many steps have we got to go up there?
10:24So there's about 268 steps.
10:27Standing 34 metres tall,
10:29the statue was completed in 1993
10:32and has become a symbol of Hong Kong.
10:37As we reach the top,
10:39its size and beauty really stand out.
10:42It's one of the largest seated bronze
10:44Buddha statues in the world.
10:46Wow, it is incredible to be able to look up
10:49at the scale of it
10:49and then look down at the incredible views
10:52on Lantau Islands.
10:53It really is something very, very unique.
10:57Next door is Polin Monastery,
10:59one of Hong Kong's most important Buddhist temples.
11:04The monastery is a great example
11:06of Buddhist culture and architecture.
11:08The detailed carvings and painted woodwork really leave a lasting impression.
11:18As my time in Hong Kong comes to an end,
11:20I say goodbye to the friends I've made
11:22and head for one last adventure.
11:26The cable cars are one of Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions.
11:30Running almost six kilometres,
11:32it passes over the island's mountains and forests.
11:36I've experienced so much here,
11:38and this final ride feels like the best way to end my trip.
11:42Hong Kong's a city that never stands still.
11:44It's a place where tradition and ambition collide.
11:48I've had such an incredible time here,
11:50exploring nature and the city.
11:52But now, time for my next adventure.
