ಶಾಸಕ ಬಸನಗೌಡ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಯತ್ನಾಳ್ ಅವರು, ನಾನು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮೊದಲ ಸಚಿವ ಸಂಪುಟ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂರನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಹಾಕುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇವರ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ಮರಾಠರು, ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು, ಕ್ಷತ್ರೀಯರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಅನೇಕರು ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರಿಗೆಲ್ಲ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದರು.


MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal said, “If I become the Chief Minister, I will remove Muslims from the minority category in the very first cabinet meeting. Apart from them, many others like Marathas, Brahmins, Kshatriyas and others are also minorities. I will grant minority status to all of them.”
