A Shaheed drone strike hits a major facility in Erbil as a U.S. F-15 fails to intercept it. Chilling footage shows the drone evading high-tech air defenses, highlighting the growing challenge of low-cost, asymmetric warfare in the region. Iran-linked attacks continue to target energy infrastructure, raising tensions across Iraq and the wider Middle East.

00:20A wave of drone strikes has hit northern Iraq, and one target stands out, a major
00:26Castrol Oil facility in Erbil, left engulfed in flames after multiple impacts.
00:33The attack began early in the morning.
00:35A first drone strike ignited a massive fire at the Castrol storage depot along the Erbil-Mosul
00:42Road.
00:43Then came another hit, and possibly more.
00:46According to local authorities, multiple Shahed-type drones struck the facility directly, while at
00:53least one was intercepted before reaching its target.
00:56The result was devastating.
00:59Flames tore through warehouses packed with motor oil and industrial supplies.
01:04Thick black smoke filled the sky for hours.
01:08Fire crews rushed in, but had to pull back again and again, fearing additional incoming drones.
01:14The fire couldn't be fully contained immediately, because the threat was still active.
01:19Remarkably, no casualties were reported, but the damage was extensive.
01:26Inside the facility, almost everything was destroyed.
01:29This was not an isolated incident.
01:32Across the Kurdistan region, dozens of drone attacks were reported in a single wave, targeting
01:38multiple locations, including energy and logistics targets linked to Western interests.
01:43The Castrol facility, a British-linked site, falls directly into that category.
01:50Iran has already warned that such installations could be treated as legitimate targets.
01:55Across Iraq, attacks on oil sites, storage depots and infrastructure connected to U.S. presence
02:02are increasing.
02:03Defenses are adapting.
02:05There have been reports of interceptor drones successfully taking down incoming threats,
02:10and close-in defense systems engaging drones near key bases.
02:15But the challenge remains.
02:17Because in this kind of conflict, it's not about stopping one attack.
02:21It's about facing waves.
02:23And when even one drone gets through, it can leave an entire facility in flames.
