00:00As if the pain and suffering brought on by the war is not enough,
00:04some Iranians are being arbitrarily rounded up, jailed, prosecuted without due process,
00:10and in some cases then even executed by their own government.
00:14The human rights of the Iranian people must be the top priority.
00:19All executions need to be halted immediately.
00:22Many of those arbitrarily arrested during the January protests and during the ongoing war
00:27are being held in shocking conditions.
00:31Eight executions have already been reported, three of which were related to the protests.
00:36Dozens of others who have been convicted, including children, face a similar fate.
00:42This is outrageous.
00:44Since the start of the war, it is estimated that 2,345 people have been arrested in Iran.
00:50They have been charged with offenses related to national security, including terrorism,
00:55dissent, alleged espionage, and cooperation with the enemy.
01:00Meanwhile, Iran's nationwide internet blackout enters its fifth week,
01:06one of the most severe countrywide shutdowns ever recorded globally.
01:10We have also received reports of pervasive interrogation and intimidation of civilians
01:16by heavily armed security forces in public spaces.
01:20Across the region, we are witnessing a sharp securitization of civic space
01:25with severe restrictions imposed by governments on people exercising their rights to freedom
01:31of expression and peaceful assembly.
01:33Waves of arrests and broad clampdowns, mostly on vaguely defined accusations,
01:38have had a deeply chilling effect on people, many of whom are already living with uncertainty,
01:45fear, and anxiety.
